      Great idea. I am going to patent singing straws. I’m gonna sell non- biodegradable singing straws than are vegan and gluten free and I’ll promise to never test on sea turtles. The plus in using non-biodegradable plastic is that you don’t have to keep rebuying our straws. They come 12 different different diameters in 12 different lengths for each diameter. That’s 144 different straws. Different voices benefit from different straws. Only $1 for each Straw. That’s a total deal and I’ll even guarantee that I will tell you that you sound like one of the divas.. Whitney, Beyoncé l, Celine etc and if I don’t think you do I will give you your money back.

    Hands down the simplest, most effective exercise I've come across in 35 years of performing and teaching. One of the best things about it - as a teaching tool particularly - is that unlike most exercises there are very few pitfalls and this video addresses them. Cash tip is on the way, thank you so much!

    almost no sound will come out when i do this with a straw 👀 I'd say my vocal technique is pretty advanced but I still quite struggle with vocal fatigue. After puberty I had issues with my vocal folds not closing properly. It wasn't noticeable when I sang or spoke but I knew it was hindering me while singing. I trained for 2 years with a speech therapist. Now it's way better but I still have some issues with all of that I think. And this kinda proves it. Maybe I have to start with a bigger straw? I chose a Capri sun Straw, so very small, like Adams.

    • @MrRicardobotti
      @MrRicardobotti 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I started with a wider, bigger glass straw immersed in water, ( doing bubbles that should have a steady bubbling ) it works anyway. The results are quick. Now I'm using a metal straw not as small as in the video but not as wide as before, and I'm not using water. I find this to be an effect that betters your voice a lot for about 1.5 to 2 hours then as you sing and sing you go back to your old "self" and it takes a bit more effort to sing. During the period of the effect is really effortless. ( this is what I've personally experienced it could only be me , I don't know)

    Made my own from a metal soap dispenser😂 important question tho! It feels very good, but i can do it 2 ways. The easiest is with the sound of air coming through the tube aswell as the voice. If i try to get harder fold closure to get a sharper sound, there is no air sound coming through, and it makes it much harder. But i wonder if that is the correct way, to sort of not have any air sound at all? I hope not haha,

    I don’t think it’s a good idea to show this exercise to the public using the smallest diameter straw; for those just starting to use straws, it is MUCH wiser to start with a larger diameter, so as not to put too much pressure where it doesn’t belong (cheeks, lower back, etc.). Using a wider yet longer straw in a glass of water to blow bubbles also gives people a visual aid with the goal of creating an even production of bubbles. Blowing through a narrow straw into open air is geared for more advanced individuals.

    It's a bit unclear what you mean when you refer to chest voice, head voice, and mix. If you're discussing these terms in relation to timbre, that's one thing, but if you're referring to the mechanics of how the vocal cords function, that's another. For example, all human voices operate on the same principle; the difference lies only in the range of these modes. For instance, falsetto is higher in women, while chest voice is lower in men. The vocal cords operate in only three modes: falsetto, the so-called 'speaking' or modal voice (let's call it chest voice for simplicity), and strohbass, also known as vocal fry. The concept of a 'mix' voice is problematic because the vocal cords cannot simultaneously function in falsetto and head voice modes; they simply don't work that way. I would be interested to hear your perspective on what you mean by these terms-chest, head, and mix.

    Nonsense. Straws are meant for overworked or overly stressed voice. They are NOT for improvement of singing.
    Why not you ask? Because the straw cannot simulate real world singing in any capacity. You are not phonating with an open vocal tract, are not enunciating and not using the articulators. And the biggest of all - you are not using enough core pressure.
    Straw exercises are meant to relax the voice. Singing is an athletic event. It requires pressure and physicality. Too much emphasis has been put on straw exercises who don't know any better because 98% of all "voice teachers" or "voice coaches" don't actively perform or have NEVER performed in any significant way.
