In 2018 I made $93,000 in 30 days with 23 million views. I am 26 and been doing TH-cam since I was 13. I took a 2 year break between 2021-2023 and started uploading short form videos at the beginning of October. I went from 200K monthly views to 10,000,000 and already gained 23,000 subscribers. It's crazy. I've always done long form videos. In 2018-2021 I was making 5-6K a month with an occasional bigger month. TH-cam is truly a life changer. I will never forget my first ever TH-cam paycheck. $30 in 2013.

That first $500/month was huge compared to my $100/month salary back then. So, I jumped in full-time. Fast forward 7 years-I now run one of the largest post-production companies and manage a network of TH-camrs, helping channels with through editing. Super inspirational. I am Slovak from a middle class family living in Netherlands. I started well off, moved to Prague, and then did terribly. Basically went bankrupt in Prague. For the past 4 years I’ve been through thick and thin to make game contents and have lost my account twice too yet. Couldn’t reach 1k subs till now man it’s depressing sometimes but here I am watching all this video for motivation and I know small TH-camrs gang we can surely make it up there someday

im not dave but heres what i can say, tiktok is much easier to grow, and there arent really any copyright restrictions which make it super easy to grow.when i started a new tiktok account i was able to get 8.1 million views on my first video alone. however if you dont live in america (like me) then the creator program is not available or is not as worth it. so heres what ill say about this, if you want to make some quick money and live in the USA then go with tiktok, if you want something that takes a little more investment but is much more scalable, pays more, and is gonna supply you in the long term then go with youtube. initial growth on youtube is much harder but after you get some momentum. it becomes much easier. @ absolutely man 🎯, lot of people complain about TikTok but is has a really high potential due to little investment, high restrictions and knowledge is still limited, my max until now is $6k from one page I started 1 month ago but I think you can definitely scale that to $20k month with a single page. As you say TikTok is more profitable when u start from scratch while TH-cam could be a little more hard to scale to long term.

I once considered creating a dark web project, but I lack the necessary security skills. That’s why I’ve decided to switch to video editing using Blender and After Effects. It’s a challenge, especially with the rise of short videos and the short attention spans of viewers. Videos today need to be eye-catching, with engaging animations, voiceovers, and clear explanations. As a Vietnamese, I’m committed to giving it my all. However, my salary isn’t enough to buy a GPU for AI tasks. I dream of visiting friends in Germany to collaborate and learn from other TH-camrs, but my entire year’s salary wouldn’t even cover that. General entertainment. You have to be consistently visually entertaining + they follow the “challenge” format so there are “high stakes” that come with every piece of content. They rely on high emotional valence in order to retain viewership, and I see that you already know how to use that to your advantage given your channel’s video topics. You could also just force your way there by making controversial & outlandish takes on big platforms & podcasts, but that has varying degrees of success.

And yes, I've also noticed how being more controversial and "emotional" leads to viewers getting way more invested in the topic, which you saw by yourself. About being controversial in the way that I go on podcasts etc. and say crazy stuff, that's not for me really because I want to have a good reputation as well as long lived career. After all, I'm doing TH-cam because I genuinely enjoy making videos. Don't want to end up like sneako, tate etc. Once again, I appreciate your comment :)
Dave, I have a humble question for you. I'm thinking of producing content on TH-cam, but I can't answer this question. For example, assuming that I share videos about vehicles and accidents as you show in the video. Where do I get stock videos? I don't think the solution is to edit other people's videos, because if other people don't produce content then we don't have the resources. I would be very happy if you could take the time to answer this question.
My problem is, even getting monetized. Even if I put some hours into Videos, they will only get 200 views... How am I supposed to get 4000 watch-hours + 3 million views??
