Regarding the boos "trapped" in the storage room, here's what I had to say to others:
"When Luigi reaches the storage room and releases King Boo along with the others, one boo says "Oh ho! It's Luigi! Look, guys! Luigi's finally here!" That last part is ESPECIALLY important! "Luigi's finally here"? As in, they were waiting for him in hiding?
This makes it quite clear that King Boo's plan after capturing Mario was to lay hidden under the storage room and rush Luigi with his minions the moment the hatch was opened. The reason why they didn't rush him as planned was stated a couple lines later: "What's on his back...? It's... E.Gadd's Poltergust 3000! Everybody scram!" They knew they stood no chance against that device, so the strategy that they used on Mario quickly crumbled when used on Luigi."

Additionally, one of the boos says "Who disturbs our sleep?" So maybe they were waiting for Luigi, but he took so long that they ended up falling asleep
ZoomZike Though I can kinda get passed the point when the boos were asleep since they travel through walls or the fact that the other minions KB (with the exception Bogmire) May have enclosed all the boos in their sleeping area.

Due to the glove being sweaty, I'm going to say he didn't leave the spares-but that he actually changed *in to* the spares and went to sleep in a bedroom while his hat was being washed. As it looks like late at night during the entire game, it is likely that it was after nightfall when Mario showed up. K. Boo tried to capture Mario in his sleep, but he woke up due to being a light sleeper, running off, power star under his hat.
Everything else lines up well enough.
This sounds good too, but how do the boos get his glove and shoe then?

The same way, since he changes into the spares to sleep, when he wakes up and makes his run from K. Boo, he leaves behind the clothes he wore to the mansion-the ones that are sweaty and smelly-behind, instead of the clean spares that he brought for the overnight stay. Because he put on the clean ones to sleep in.

I thought they were sweaty because he was scared, causing his palms to get sweaty, and the line about his shoes “running a thousand miles” isn’t only referring to his adventures, but his run from King Boo

In LM 3, we can see that the at first, the hotel looks very attractive and friendly. Perhaps the same thing happened in the original Luigi’s mansion
However we all know that Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, the Toads and E Gadd somehow got stuck in the painting. However E. Gadd must have gotten stuck first before the Mushroom Kingdom party arrived.
It's possible! King Boo's a master of illusion after all! I just feel like E. Gadd would've told Luigi about it when he mentioned Mario in the first place though.

I love the mod of a playable Mario & sprite visuals you used in the story telling, its small details like this that keep me invested in these types of videos! I wish we got a perspective from Mario's story finding the mansion in the game, this fits that gap very well! :D

I actually really love the idea of Mario hiding the powerstar in the observatory under a spell so the boos couldn't get it. It actually gives a lot of credence to how the room is completely inaccessible (if you try to enter the room before beating the previous room, it'll endlessly loop). Cute idea.

Got a favorite character?
Komaeda's my go-to answer for favorite character, his philosophy was nutty, but at the same time made some sense if you spent some time thinking about it. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed DR2 as much as I did if he wasn't in there, just a really well-written character.
This is a nicely written fanfiction. It makes Mario look like a loving brother towards Luigi and makes him somewhat cool, like how he runs fast from King Boo, or how he puts his faith in Luigi.
More a theory than fanfiction, I see your point though.
Not “look like a loving brother” mario is canonically a loving brother to luigi, he cares about him more than anybody else, both of the bros love each other. In the mario and luigi rpg games, we see mario holding a deep love for his bro. Everytime luigi loses health in battle and dies, mario puts him on his shoulder and fights with him on his shoulder. He even screams luigi’s name as soon as luigi gets knocked out and immediately rushes over. There was also a gate that can read the person’s heart before they enter and one of Mario’s core characteristics was his love for luigi. He also had the chance to choose treasure or his brother’s life, and he chose luigi over the treasure, and it wasn’t the player’s choice it was a cutscene. In super paper mario, we see Mario swimming through hell to save luigi. In super mario 3d land, we see Mario rescue luigi from dry bowser. In super mario galaxy 1&2 we also see Mario rescue Luigi. Luigi’s mansion 1 with the note he wrote warning luigi about boos, luigi’s mansion 2 and 3 when he thanks and hugs luigi for rescuing him and is proud of him, and mario rabbids kingdom battle when mario trys to rescue luigi from being sucked into a portal. Many many many examples of Mario’s unconditional love and deep trust and care for Luigi.
if we look at the manga, tv show, comics & even Mario is Missing, Luigi would put aside his fears & sometime even a "sour bond"to save Mario, while it does seem that Mario does care about Luigi (Like how he just leaves in the ending of Mario is Missing or when Luigi wins in tennis) we know that deep down, Mario does care about Luigi (from Mario ace tennis story mode, Mario & Luigi, and also Paper Mario with not wanting to take his brother on adventures to keep him out of harm way)

Never thought about Mario getting to the mansion and it seeming as if the prize was legitimate. Never thought Marios stuff being all over the mansion made sense if everything was locked when I got there.

That probably explains why Mario feel asleep so suddenly when Luigi and King Boo were fighting.
I love how this makes sense and keeps Mario's overprotective brother trait due to baby ptsd with him using his knowledge and always choosing to rush ahead to make sure things are safe for his brother.
Tbh ya gotta love how Mario and Luigi always care about each other to a point where they prioritize each other's safety over everything else. Like how in the Mario and Luigi series they always freak our and drop everything to find and make sure the other is okay and then they go back to their mission.
And I know this old but I agree with your other Luigi's mansion video it's wholesome moment and I love it just adds more to their relationship and how much it progresses in the games especially in the Luigi's mansion series like in 1 he's scared and holding out so he can save Mario then in Luigi's mansion 2 he's annoyed that boi caused E-gad trouble and he's gotta fix it only to be surprised to find Mario was captured again and then at the end he just gets angry with boo and starts pulling the vacuum with more force, then Mario tells him he's the best which is extra wholesome.
But Luigi's mansion 3 has the most thought out story, sure it's simple and obvious but relationships Luigi has with the other characters, and the little things he does randomly really finalizes his character, he laughs and is scared but at the same time he's angry that boo duped him again and this time brought all his friends here with him, so angry that he just beats up the ghost to capture them except for the director he's chill. Then when he easily saves Mario he forgets about Peach which boo obviously knew would happen which this adds to boo as well showing that he truly study both brothers and knew Luigi would save Mario so he captured the princess someone Luigi considered somewhat like a sister and someone Mario liked in order to tear them apart but Mario's refusal to leave really showed how well he knew his brother to the point he had to lead him to Peach so they could save her together.
There is also the fact the ghost paintings in the first area alluded to the fact that Mario was also in the room as well, adding a bit more credit to the theory.

Welp seeing nobody has made this joke already, Mario’s Story is already in Luigi’s Mansion. The portrait ghost Neville is reading it in the study.
I think I saw a few, but good work anyways!
Here's my theory on Mario's story: although he took the power star for a strength boost, he also probably took it to help him open up any locked doors, just like in Mario 64. From there up until the laundry room, I agree with ZoomZike's timeline, but after sticking his DIRTY hat in the washing machine (and keeping his spare shoes and gloves with him), Mario went to the Twin's Bedroom to rest, since it was the one closest to the front door, so he'd know immediately if Luigi arrived. Also, he's probably used to sleeping in bunk beds (look at his house in Paper Mario), and didn't particularly care for the décor or broken window in the Master Bedroom. That's why his shoe is found there: he took them off before taking a nap. Later, when he woke up, he realized Luigi still hadn't arrived, so he put on his clean shoes and did a little more exploring. When he found the Projector Room, he decided to turn off the lights, and turn on a movie, removing a sweaty glove to eat some popcorn. Because the lights were off, the ghosts were naturally drawn to the only dark room in the mansion, and cast shadows on the screen (which we know they can, because that's how Luigi sees and fights them when he gets there), inadvertently showing Mario that the mansion WAS haunted, foiling King Boo's plan. Although King Boo immediately set his minions upon him, Mario escaped and ran towards the nearest exit, the back door, leaving his glove behind in panic. However, when he tried to jump the backyard fence, he found that, for some reason (probably a ghostly barrier), he couldn't, so he took a moment to leave Luigi a note, and stashed it in the birdhouse. Taking another moment to collect himself and replace the glove he took off, he noticed the balcony above him, and decided to head there, hoping it would be high enough for him to clear the fence and escape. He ran through the Workout Room, and up the nearby stairs, but, because he didn't know the mansion's layout, got lost and ended up cornered in the Observatory. At this point, my theory rejoins ZoomZike's, as Mario realized he was trapped and powerless against the ghosts, and decided to seal the power star in the room to prevent them from getting it, while hoping that Luigi would find it instead. The ghosts found Mario's shoes and glove, which were sitting in the open, and locked them in chests found in the same rooms he'd left them in.
That makes a lot of sense.
The only thing I noticed in the Super Mario universe is that even we didn't saw much technology all around. But it's great to know that there are actual phone lines int his world.
Edit: Yes I know and aware of New Donk city and Diamond City. but I was talking about the Mushroom Kingdom area. where the mansion and the Mario Bros real home.

Wario Ware showcased a lot of technology like TVs, phones and etc. but even with that in mind this game came first.
Edit: I just remembered Mario’s Time Machine also had a fair bit of technology, along with Mario Is Missing...
Bowser's Kingdom also seems to have a lot of (mostly military) technology, especially with places like Neo Bowser City.

I never really thought about Mario's story before despite Luigi's Mansion being one of my most favorite games, it's really cool that you figured it out and it was fun to see!
I definitely loved the fact you went all out with this including the clues and you had the relevant information to back it up. I believe this definitely would have happen. I felt like I was in a CSI episode.
Yeah, there's more evidence that I should've included that I thought about afterwards, but overall I'm satisfied with the conclusion.

Power stars have "door opening powers" or something like that, that's probably how Mario got into into the mansion to begin with! And the reason its hidden in a magic room is probably due to boos.
I like to think it was all a big escape room, that Mario and king boo set up for Luigi to help him develop confidence
Everyone says your theory is cohesive, and, while it seems so, it ignores a very important detail:
At the time of Luigi's arrival, all the Boos, including King Boo, are trapped in the Storage Room right behind the Ballroom.
It's quite possible that he somehow used the Power Star to seal them away before being caught by King Boo.
I think that the boos were waiting for Luigi so they could trap him together, but their plan fell apart when they noticed Luigi's Poltergust. After all, they did say Luigi's *FINALLY* here. (Finally implies that they were waiting for him.)

I haven't played the other two but to me this is what makes the first one so special. Mario eternally trapped in a painting inside a mysterious haunted mansion that just appears out of nowhere and pulls you in through false promises of riches, like the lottery win of your life. The idea that it targeted Mario specifically and that the spell was strong enough for him to lose. Our hero lost. That's how you start a Luigi game.

I played Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon then I learned what E. Gadd told to Luigi when found out King Boo in record camera so E. Gadd is remember and say it was an accident and not suppose to sell on yard sale to customers. I want to know who customer so still mysterious figure.

Yeah that was something I’ve always wondered, how is it we see Mario’s hat, shoe and glove in the mansion when we very clearly see him equipped with everything? If he brought spares than that makes perfect sense!

1. It was said in the video that the front door was locked. No easy way out.
2. He might've not had enough time between the two's arrivals. That, or he had the Gold Ghosts in the Parlor try to capture Luigi, knowing that his capture wouldn't be as hard as Mario's. The second theory failed though if it is true thanks to E. Gadd's intervention.
Murphmario Twopointoh Probably correct, King Boo probably just got done hanging Mario's painting when Luigi entered, which is why the lights were still off. E. Gadd probably entered while Mario was still running, because E. Gadd was probably worried about Mario entering the mansion. E. Gadd might have been able to be in the parlor because, well, it was unlocked for Mario never went in there. The gold ghost were most likely the ones who locked that door (which is why they give Luigi the key).
I forgot about the King Boo hanging Mario's painting bit, that would've been a nice detail to add among other things, good catch
About that line where E. Gadd saying the mansion appeared just a few days ago, that's apparently a change in localization.
Per the Cutting Room Floor:
"Some story elements are completely different from the English localization. For example, in the Japanese version, it is stated that the mansion is being used by Professor E. Gadd for research. However, in the English localization; E. Gadd tells Luigi that the mansion appeared only a few days before he arrived at the haunted manor."
I prefer the English version, it's more mysterious

For the most part, I missed a couple details but it's solid otherwise
I'm curious to see how King Boo captured Mario in Dark Moon, since it isn't stated how King Boo got his Power Enhancing Gem, unless it is part of one of those Crystals down in the Secret Mine.
People are saying there isn't much evidence to go through in Dark Moon, so I'm not sure either.
Or how he got out of the painting. E. Gadd sold it at a garage sale, but who bought it?
@@williamdrum9899 I wonder if it could have been another Boo, or heck, even someone like Kamek. At the same time, this would also make sense as to why Egad brought King Boo with him to the last resort hotel. He thought it was a normal event and leaving King Boo alone at his lab would have been very risky for him. However with King Boo escaping, he ended up getting stuck in a trap, unable to warn Luigi and his friends of the danger.
ZoomZike, out of curiosity, what gave you the idea to thoroughly fill the blanks to a sub-story the developers may have not left us or even constantly hinted at?

You know its Mario's fault really for going into the mansion without going with his younger brother because really its Luigi's Mansion after all(no pun intended) because if he didn't wait for Luigi he wouldn't be trapped but if they do go together then maybe just maybe they both would be caught so I guess Mario going alone was best pls heart

The main point I've heard against it is how the Toads are in different parts of the mansion, that'd require some thinking to cover up. Glad you enjoyed!
@@zoomzike really? Maybe they chased after Mario because they were also worried about the mansion? Peach sent a bunch of Toads to keep Mario safe and they all scattered throughout the mansion trying to find him. Obviously this happened after Mario was captured which is why they have zero idea where he is
