Geoff Johns told us with the Battle on Mars. You can't fight Dr. Manhattan in fisticuffs. You have to beat him with ideology. And Superman had the upper hand from the beginning. Well done, Johns. Now, I can't wait to see Wally in this final battle. Y'know, because he was set up as the golden child...Where is he?
This was honestly the one thing we didn’t see because honestly we forgot whom we are dealing with. Superman is more then just a strong guy he’s Hope and kindness. He defeated Dr Manhattan not by fighting him but giving him a reason to fight for. Superman was the only one to care. And that changes things. This is what makes Superman Superman this is what the movies got so damn wrong about him. He brings HOPE to people around him he Inspires others to be the best they can be . Even if that other is a blue god. He’ll still help them because it’s the right thing to do. Because that’s what Superman does. Three cheers for the man of tomorrow everyone
Lmfao superman didn't do anything. He didn't defeat Manhattan 😂😂😂 stop trying to give him this feat. Fact is Manhattan simply had an epiphany & destroyed then remade the DC universe.
Agreed man and that is what the new superman movies are lacking and this cements moviewise that christopher reeve is the greatest superman. Zod blows: And metropolis is in peril, people are being blown away, non and ursa join him. Superman: No the people stop!! he'll come just leave the people alone. That is superman in a nut-shell yes he cares.
Clayton Davis That’s what film Superman did as well. Whether you like the films or not, he DID do what you wanted him to. He inspired Pete Ross to be a better person. He inspired Colonel Hardy, turning him into an ally. He inspired Bruce and Diana. He inspired the world with his sacrifice. He did it through action, not words. And actions do speak louder than words
Leviathan Nephilim77 he didn’t beat him. He gave Dr Manhattan that Epiphany. Superman being Superman was enough to make Dr Manhattan stop think and wonder at this person whom should HATE him should want to kill him for all he’s done protect him and reach out to him. To try and HELP him. This isn’t a feat you can’t say Superman won this fight. He simply made it not a fight.
Call Me Elmin yeah and the fights in metropolis and Smallvill say a lot. The fact that while he was around everyone hated him protested him and censured him. His action in killing Zod, His Inaction to save his dad, all this points to a not very good Superman. How he was viewed in Justice league is hilariously forced because we’ve only seen lots of hate for him. We don’t see a man whom would stop by a sucidal person and talk them down with words and give them the strength to live on their own. At best the movie version would put them down and leave. That reputation isn’t there that spirit isn’t there . It really doesn’t help when the director shoves chirst symbols down our throats as well.
I like that touch of Jon (Dr. Manhattan) naming his kid “Clark”. A nice nod to the impact Superman had in his life, but also, funny enough, Clark has named his son “Jon”. “You will make my strength your own. See my life through your eyes as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father, and the father, the son.” -Jor-El
Him flooring the justice league on Mars and restarting the DC multiverse is enough for me. there was never going to be a 1 v 1 battle. this was always going to be one of those philosophical moments where superman convinces Dr.Manhattan to believe in hope and that hope never dies. sure, the delays really did an impact on the story but overall, I thought it was greatly written!!! One of the best in our time 👏👏👏
I assume that DM is trying to bring hope to his universe, by creating their very own superman. He even looks like young Clark. He will be the Superman of the watchmen universe.
@Helder De Almeida I can see that both made from Nuclear power but other than that I don't see where captain atom is anywhere near a god, Dr M is so much more he can basically live in any time and place at once he has vast knowledge of past and future events some of which he has helped shape

KageTrauma I think he means because he becomes the most powerful mage/wizard in the marvel universe he could kill superman because superman has a very high weakness to magic. Plus he can time travel and is on par with lex for intelligence but is far more ruthless
I think in all the speculating for how this story would go all of us forgot that Superman is SUPERMAN. He's not one to start an unnecessary fight. Manhattan also didn't realize that either which is why he was caught off guard by Superman's actions. Plus this is a much better ending because it wraps up so many peoples stories, settled so many people into the DC universe and the timeline is now fixed.
Well that and the fact that if they actually had manhattan and superman fight it would be a shitshow, seeing how one is invincible and the other is also an invincible god-like being. The only way that would have ended was with people pissed off.
Was I the only one who saw Geoff Johns tease a potential crossover between marvel and DC on the panel where Manhattan is listing all the future crises?
I mean u have characters like Thor who are the same way but I see ur point. If they were to do somethin like that they would have to be careful and do it right
Correction: Mime & Marionette stayed in DC universe and is raising their daughter there. Sally is Nite Owl & Spectre's daughter. The book mentioned Manhattan would send "a woman who meant a lot to him" Marionette's son, not her daughter. That was fulfilled when he sent Clark to her.
This event really wasn't all that. Started off great, but the delays definitely hurt it. The story isn't that groundbreaking to have justified the extent to which it was delayed (which I think was mainly for the artwork)

So. Much. Awesome. This is an ending that I almost couldn't have seen coming (Thanks, Dr. Manhattan. I'm suffering from Future Blindess too,) and his resetting/soft rebooting/setting up future probabilities for the DCU going forward is a very interesting take on the Crisis model that comics have fallen into over the past few years. And his even resetting his origin and upbringing to help him connect better with his humanity and become his world's Superman is a fitting ending to this. Congrats, DC. Well told and well ended.
I think Manhattan gave his powers to this child because he himself knew that he’s capable of doing amazing things. He’s capable of doing heroic things but his detachment from humanity prevented him from giving his gifts to the world to better it. So much so that he left earth to start anew. Now that a child has his abilities, he’s not only whatever the Dr, became, but he has what I would consider the added bonus of being human as well and with that, Clark can use the Dr.’s powers the way he himself wished he could’ve kept doing when he was a Watchmen. NOW WHAT I WANNA SEE IS KID FRANKLIN RICHARDS VS BABY MANHATTAN! Lmao ITS TIME FOR A DEATHBATTTTTTLLLLEEEE! Lol
17:05 So we're just skipping over that 2030 "Secret Crisis" that says Superman fights Thor and a 'green behemoth stronger than Doomsday', aka maybe the Hulk, who it also says dies?
Rob sometimes half-asses his way through vids. Sorry Rob, you know it's true. Never get Rob to be an eyewitness to anything, he would leave out something vital
Reggie did not stay in the DC Universe - he is visiting Byron's grave, Mothman from the Minutemen in his home universe. He will basically lead the way to new, more righteous heroes in the universe (especially with Nostalgia on the horizon).
Would they make Nostalgia a hero? Or a villain, considering that she is obsessed with Adrian Veidt. Maybe could be a young genius that thinks that they could possibly do better? Who knows.
Dr Manhattan figured that the watchmen universe was lacking a Clark Kent superman in the watchman universe so he created a superman to keep the balance in the natural order cause their universe was missing that one thing "Superman"!😎✌🏾
Sally isn’t the mime and marionette’s kid. Clark is. Dr. Manhattan even says the daughter they have is Anita maez. The child that’s taken by dr Manhattan is Clark,
Thank you for saying this. Hearing that in the video bugged me and was absolutely wrong. Silk and Night owl had a daughter whom I am sure will love having a brother and will guide Clark to be a great Superman.
Yeah, also none of those characters are in the DCU apart from Mime and Marionette. He really needs to fact check these videos, I swear half the time he just skim reads them.
@@lolzmoney6669 yeah I agree. Rorschach , Oz and Manhattan returned to their world. Oz was put in prison while his cat grew up and was apparently a gift to a woman who will later possibly become a villain named Nostalgia to balance out Clark. Balance is a huge thing in the works of DC. Where this is Darkness there is Light. Clark will no doubt go to the DC Universe in time and be the Watchman version of Superman. Rorschah was over Mothman's grave thanking him for what he was trying to do. Manhattan died healing the world and ridding it of nuclear devices then raised the child the Superman was raised and giving the child his power and probably giving him Kryptonian abilities modeled after Superman.
This book also confirms Superman>>>Hulk and Thor as well as hulk getting killed protecting Superman. This must mean even the hulk must have known that Superman holds his fiction together
Could happen. But then, it would have a rather fresh start. New Heroes with Clark(Supermanhattan??) at the top with other heroes following suit cause he inspired them to become heroes. and also the bad Guys. Cause with this new superman there might be a matching bad guy as well.
Since Alan Moore didn't want the series to continue, I've been thinking that this means there are two Watchmen Universes. One Universe is where Watchmen ended where the original miniseries ended and we will never know what happened just as Moore intended. In the other the story of Watchmen continued, leading up to "Doomsday Clock."
The only watchmen characters that stayed were mime and marionette. Everyone went back. Also Laurie and Dan's daughter is their daughter, mime and marionettes daughter was just born
Wow I loved this story and the ending in particular. In a sense Clark is the watchmen universes' version of superman, even having his blue eyes and dark hair. But I can't believe Rob skipped right over the fact that a marvel crossover was hinted at, stating that thor and a green behemoth aka the hulk would be part of it. Damn I can't wait to see what comes next.
I read it earlier today. It really was amazing. I thought of it as DC showing that no matter what Superman will always be around and a focus of the DC universe. Like they were responding to people claiming Superman is not popular anymore. Also I like the tease of a marvel and dc crossover in 2030.
At the end it looks like Dr. Manhattan wanted someone like him with all of the power in the world to be raised by a loving/nurturing family like the Kents so that lil boy also will turn out to be a good person like Superman despite having god like powers and won't lose his humanity like Dr. Manhattan did with having all of that power.
I love this ending. Primarily because it sets up a new Watchmen series and the possibility of Lori, Dan, and their children being folded into the primary DC universe. But there is the possibility that with the arrival of the new Clark there will arise the possibility of new super powered heroes in the watchmen universe.
The possibility of super humans in the Watchmen universe is very likely seeing as Dr. Manhattan gave part of himself to the world before he disappeared.
Glad to see that they wrote Superman true to his greatest power, not to punch things really hard, but rather to see the good in others and yo inspire them
Also this green behemoth who "dies" saving Superman well according to the current run he just will not stay dead. So what does that mean for the Secret Crisis if it happens?

Dee Chambers not sure if this is meant to be a reference to the original crossover event or a potential new one? I’m surprised Rob didn’t point that out like “holy s%#t?!”
@@NerdiconPrime it definitely wouldn't be referencing the original crossover because it says in the year 2030 and Manhattan was talking about future events yet to come.
Back in the 90s, Quantum Superman created Cosmic Armor Superman, a being with the power to alter the narrative of his own story so that he always wins because the writers want him to win in the end. In 2019, Doctors Manhattan discovers all time lines in all metaverses hinge upon Superman coming to earth. Because, in the end, he is the center of every story. Quantum Superman is a pastiche of Dr. Manhattan. We all should have seen this ending coming because it happened before and promised it would keep happening forever.
i Really like the Conclusion this adds to the OG-Watchmen Comic,so Manhatten proceeds to visit another universe, learns what admiration means, and learns that Good peopel actualy exist and that there is more then Choice a or b, and finaly at the end of it all decides to commite suicide and end up giving a doomed child a future full of possibilities because that Black child now has ALL of manhattens powers so he can give hope to everyone else, just like superman did to Manhatten.
The entire "Doomsday Clock" graphic novel series as the long-awaited sequel to the original "Watchmen" graphic novel series is becoming interesting. Both Geoff Johns and Gary Frank did a great job on that together. 8.5/10.
If it was due to the consequences of Manhattan's own actions, that he lost his ability to see into the future, and indeed he knew that would be the consequence, why would he not know that in the past? He should have had access to that information... And why would he think that Superman punching him would kill him? He had to know that wouldn't lead to his destruction.
He wasn't concerned with Superman punching him. He was bothered by the fact that he didn't attack him, despite all that DM has changed in his life. This was never going to be some final battle in DM's eyes, but DM wanted to discover the conclusion with Superman and why he was this constant anomaly throughout the metaverse.
@@notsafeforwindows He asks Superman, if he's going to destroy him, with a concerned look on his face. So as it's illustrated, I'd say he's bothered by that prospect. And even without seeing the future, he should have known that Superman can't destroy him. And what makes it even weirder, is that he should have been able to see all of this in the past, as DM has not yet done the thing that takes away his own ability to see the future. So basically none of this makes sense.
I love the "2038" first Superman appearance. And the over all idea of rebooting Superman over and over. But having a reboot be 100 years after the original is just crazy and awesome.
I can't believe Rob missed the part that literally mentions Superman fights Thor and Hulk in In Secret Crisis that takes place in 2030. I thought that was a pretty cool name drop.

Yeah, let's give a kid the powers of a literal god. Certainly nothing can go wrong here. RIP to whoever is the first kid to pick on him in school for having a dot on his forehead.
I think nothing would happen to the kid who picks on Clark. Because Dr.Manhattan created clark so that he could be a better version of Dr.Manhattan, one that would be more like superman. So, i'm guessing his origin story is going to be similar to Supes. Still, would be pretty satisfying to see a bully being blown to bits.
Id say the the kid clark will be noticeably weaker than dr manhattan. Manhattan gifted him "the last of his powers". However, you are still correct. RIP random school bully.
What a massive F you to Alan Moore this ending is. Watchmen was intended as a critique of superhero stories and the very idea that societies can rely on superheroes to save them. Now, Doomsday Clock argues that Alan Moore’s world just needed a comic book hero to save it?? Hahaha. What a slap in the face that is.
All of the post graphic novel Watchmen paraphernalia has been a big F you to Alan Moore. The movie, the series, the comics, it's all been a huge cash grab after one genius's magnum opus.

I LOVE THIS STORY!! I don't care how long it took, I've been a DC fan for over 2 decades, I knew anything Geoff Johns was writing would be worth waiting for....and I will take a slow story that is well told over a story that comes out every other week & you can tell it is rushed nonsense any day.
symbol of Hope. It's ironic he sees it now after all this time, dr.manhattan was called the superman of his universe yet he lacked the humanity that an immigrant alien(superman) possessed. I think he seemed happy because as he passed his powers he didn't know what klark will do but as he engineered the superman formula he knows this child will do better than him as he will be raised by a family and attach to them and feel what dr.manhattan lost with his accident. So every thing ends and it all starts with a child... a super duper child
Fitting end. I just don't see the point of Dr. Manhattan giving his powers to another person. If he thought that he had no place in the universe, he could have just left and his powers along with him.
He wanted to leave his universe with something the boy doesn't have all his powers just enough so that his world can have its own symbol of hope. He made his world their own superman that's why he named him Clark and gave him to people he know would raise him right.

Dear god finally , after all of the delays and delays , it's finally here ! May all dc fans and watchmen fans rejoice !
Clayton Davis
That’s what film Superman did as well.

Now that a child has his abilities, he’s not only whatever the Dr, became, but he has what I would consider the added bonus of being human as well and with that, Clark can use the Dr.’s powers the way he himself wished he could’ve kept doing when he was a Watchmen. Both Geoff Johns and Gary Frank did a great job on that together.
8.5/10.
Mr. Nice Guy this is literally garbage as a sequel to watchmen
So in a nutshell, Doomsday Clock is one of the best comic events ever?

Your enthusiasm for these comic book stories is so compelling. I cant stay away from this channel.

He wanted to leave his universe with something the boy doesn't have all his powers just enough so that his world can have its own symbol of hope. He made his world their own superman that's why he named him Clark and gave him to people he know would raise him right.
who would've guessed a transcended and powerful being that is Dr.Manhattan needed to be saved
Superman's plot powers can even influence and inspire godlike characters
So basically, to sum everything up, we're back to Pre-Crisis continuity.
More so pre Flashpoint
Except the terrible LOSH designs
Thank god, new 52 was hard unnecessary.
Blackula TheEvilOyo I liked some ideas of the new 52 and DC you for example I liked the Batman run of Jim being Batman
No not really, pre cresis continuity is now an alternate universe designated earth-1985 , the main universe has yet to be explained since we have the JSA and wonder woman supposedly appearing in ww2 and is the first superhero
I love this story it was really epic but damn it the delays really annoyed me with this entire book but despite that setback this story was really awesome and badass.
This still took less time than All-Star Superman, which started in 2005 and ended in 2008.
@@ChadBenjamin indeed and you're right about that this story did took less time then all star superman and superman earth one series.
Can’t rush art.
Black Bolt depending on the version of the Hulk, heck yeah. Look at world war hulk for what a mad Hulk can do.
@Black Bolt honestly i believe it kinda sort of
“Nothing Ever Ends.”
I’m sure the characters from Watchmen will have to adapt to a new universe, so those’ll have to be some stories.
Man I'm just happy to have Alan Scott and Jay Garrick back
