Let us know who YOUR favourite Superman villain is! 🤔👇
Idk I like Darkseid a lot but I see him more as a Justice League villain.
My favorites(other than Lex) are Metallo, Brainiac, Mongul, Bizarro and Doomsday.
Zack Snyder too
Lobo or bizarro I can’t decide
Lobo is so underrated - we’d love to see him in live action someday too🔥
I definitely agree with the Metallo argument for one specific reason. Imagine the storyline for a sequel specific film where Superman thinks himself invincible and someone who can resolve any conflict only to be blindsided by something able to actually hurt and possibly kill him. The whole film would basically be Clark coming back to terms with his mortality. All thanks to Metallo
Brainiac. His Injustice 2 story is really cool.
Superman unironically has one of the most underrated rogue’s galleries in comics and no I’m not joking
He has SO many good villains to choose from🔥
When you guys mention about bizzaro I remember a TH-camr called bandit incorperated he did videos on what upcoming movies could it he did one for Age of Ultron and BVS haven’t seen them in over 10 years so can’t remember exactly but I’m sure bizzaro was used in that plus he makes more logical sense then doomsday
Plus with doomsday in BVS if I had to change it I’ll have the trinity find a way to send doomsday to space so then he could come back in later films as a more comic accurate version plus keeping superman alive in BVS I know it’s not the best but if doomsday had to be in it that’s what I do
stop lying to yourself drider his rogues are trash
Bizzaro myxplz luthor doomsday zod toyman cyborgsuperman
Lobo and Mongul are probably the most underrated
For real, both great villains. Especially the main man, he's one of my favorite villains in general.
Who was it that drove Mr willpower, Hal Jordan, over the edge? Frickin Mongul
… and also Parallax but who cares.
We need a Warworld movie with Mongul
@@danielwesley5051parallax, what's stupid name for cosmic horror creature. DC have many stupid names. Brainiac? Seriously? World's collector cool name
I don't think Lobo is really a villain.
Kind of sad that one of the oldest superheroes in existence has so many great villains that never get used. Ah well, at least it's not as forgotten as Wonder Woman's.
Probably cause so many adaptations only ever used Lex Luthor & Toy Man. I think that’s why so so many casuals know who Toyman is despite being a C-List villain in the comics. Even Zod only made a single appearance in part 2 and never showed up again until Smallville. I don’t know if it was a rights issue or not
@@Linklex7 Wait when has Toyman appeared?
@@jackreynolds3465 He had a huge moment in JLU when he "killed" Superman
Personally my favorite Superman villain group is The Elite. They had 1 comic but it was a great examination of Superman’s moral philosophy. They did a PEAK animated movie about it.
Same. The Elite are such a great representation of the cynical 21st nihilistic worldview a lot of younger people today share as they believe Superman's worldview and old timey methods are outdated. Superman vs The Elite animated movie is also probably my personal favourite Superman movie and I adore how they adapt the comic
That movie is peak
The Elites weren’t really villains tho
Anti heroes who kill
Parasite, Toyman, and Mongul are also pretty good. I hope James Gunn will expand Superman's rogues gallery in the dcu! Instead of just using Lex luthor.
Parasite could beat anyone
And Manchester Black
Atomic Skull, while not my favorite villain, has always been interesting to me, because think about it, the guy gives off massive amounts of dangerous radiation, and it’s harmless to Superman, but it’s deadly against bystanders, and it’s interesting seeing Superman try to save as many people as he can while fighting him.
@theghostofjeffgoldblumdail9613 I always liked him in JLU especially his final comment asking for a head start before the JL catch them
I’ve always loved Metallo and The Atomic Skull.
I think Parasite is a pretty sick villain. Great design and power set for countering Superman, often requiring Superman to outsmart him rather than relying on brute force.
Hear me out. World's Finest Movie with Superman and Batman fighting Toy Man. He's a villain that can truly match both our their tones and themes.
No need to hear you out we need brother . WE NEED IT!
Metallo and parasite
I love bizarro as a villain and a antihero in the outlaws
Manchester black. Both his appearances in "what so funny about truth, justice and the American way?" And "ending battle" were awesome.
Also parasite. I wish they used him more often.
Hoping we see both in the DCU
Absolutely agreed. Although one villain that has been used very often that I have never been a fan of his General Zod.
May I ask why the general consensus seems to be General Zod is a bad villain? I haven’t read that many Superman comics so I only know him from the movies, and he seemed fine enough there, he’s not an S tier villain by any means though.
@@DmanDmythDlegend He is bad, because he is a total reverse of Superman.
Bizarro is better for that story and character purpose, which is why he is far more popular.
@shauntempley9757
That version of Brainiac was for only one version of the character. Hardly the standard of what he should be.
Still wild to me how Zod never appeared in the animated series
@@billyboleson2830 They couldn't for legal reasons, but he did appear in the tie in comics. To be honest I really don't care because I just don't care about the character.
THANK YOU
Also Brainiac is great, but he shouldn’t be Kryptonian. He’s from Colu, and he’s a mirror to Jor-El.
Bizarro I like him because he’s embodying Superman’s heroism where he has good intentions but because of how he is twosted into being the reverse he can only do evil so he’s trapped inside his own body.
I prefer him being kryptonian A.I.
General Zod has so much potential. I'd imagine him showing up early in Superman's story and he would tell him about Krypton's culture and Kal-Els parents, but he would twist the truth so he would look like the good guy, so that Superman would become his loyal pawn, just for Superman to somehow find out that he's not as benevolent as he seems and then Zod would drop the facade and essentially go full Omni-Man on Clark. And everytime they face off Clark would have conflicted feelings about fighting him, since he's on one hand extremely evil, but on the other hand, he's the only connection he has to Krypton (at least before Supergirl arrvies to earth)
I feel Atomic Skull has a lot of potential and nobody's done a storyline with him as the main villian but could.
He goes crazy hard in My Adventures with Superman season 2
@@comiclads He hasn't really done much. Needs some development.
@@barq6994he's typically just a badass. Like Ghost Rider but DC and evil. I think the most badass he's been was when he was doing cage matches in that JLU episode.
Y’all haven’t even scratched the surface😭erradicator, cyborg Superman, silver banshee, Manchester black, imperiex. Those imo r the real underrated villains
I love all of Superman’s Villains for different reasons, there’s just so much Potential in them that the can work, even the Bad Ones like Nuclear Man can be Fixed.
There's already a good version of Nuclear Man called Atomic Skull.
I've always argued that Superman has the most underrated rogues gallery in all of comics. Spider-Mans are well known but let's be honest, majority are B/C teir. You can even argue the same for Batman but I have his rogues over Spider-Mans.
I feel like mongul is also underatted
my fav sups villain gotta be parasite, he's such a threat, really powerful and dangerous if not handled correctly (but from the talked about in this, i love livewire)
My favorite is toyman. He’s got a lot of untapped potential. He could make mech suits and atonomus robots like Ironman suits for him and others to wear so they could actually fight Superman themselves or just make more powerful robots the only thing holding him back is his childish mind that makes him want to make everything toy like. Heck, he accidentally created a time machine in the justice league show
Basically Lex Luthor has become the joker of the Metropolis/Superman villain gallery rogue (Popularity aleast, like when they immediately think Joker as Batman main villain while forgetting others Batman villain like Bane, Penguin, The Riddler, Killer Croc, Two Face/Harvey Dent, Poison Ivy and many others Batman villains, is that people only think of Lex Luthor forgetting Doomsday, Brainiac, Bizarro Superman [I don't know if Bizarro is consider a villain or a anti hero], Metallo, General Zod and many others [Darkseid is debatable if he is a Superman villain or a Justice League villain])
Lex Luther has always been that joker equivalent for Superman for decades. That’s not really new
I actually think that Luthor was never Superman's Joker to begin with. He has always felt more like Penguin in how he operates than Joker.
For me, that role is taken now by Darkseid, since their very first fight. He attacks Superman on a far greater level than Luthor ever could, not just psychologically, but also in a power level, and as a threat to everything Superman protects on top of it.
In this, Darkseid is far better in the Joker nemesis role with Superman than Joker is with Batman now, to the point that their relationship is unique.
Darkseid is more a justice league villain @@shauntempley9757
Aside from Lex Luthor and Brainiac, my favourite Superman villain by far is Mister Mxyzptlk. He had by far some of the best issues of the Superman Adventures tie-in comics.
He’s goated
What’s great about Superman being busted in stats for his rogues gallery is that they’ll naturally rely more on Hax. Such as with Mr. Mxyzptlk. They have to be wacky or esoteric to counter Superman.
We so need a playlist for this, Batman & Superman are the only ones so far.
One villain I wish would get a bigger spotlight is the Eradicator
Honestly you guys are big part of me getting back into comics, thank you
My favourite is Mr. Mxyzptlk because the sort of fifth dimension fairy tale magic is so at odds with the normal hero universe
It’s such a fun way to introduce chaotic supernatural elements into Superman’s life
I think manchester black is a really underated villian of superman. Very distinct in comparison to other villians. Could also work well as a suicide squad member. He was so dope in superman vs the elite.
I personally think Zod and Lobo are criminally underused. Lobo especially, he's great.
I can’t decide who my favorite is. It’s probably Lex but I really like Brainiac,Mr.Mxyzptlk, and Darkseid.
love the duo commentary, so refreshing
Supes has one of the best rogues gallery out there period! I don't even know if I have a favorite cause most of them are really impressive but Doomsday is absolutely brutal & ruthless & came to killing blows with Supes
Here my favorite villains that aren’t Lex, Doomsday, Darkseid, or Zod (Superman might have my fav rogue’s gallery tbh):
1: Bizzaro (Honestly my fav Superman villain. Bizzaro>Lex)
2: Brainiac (Ik he’s famous, but he’s still a goated villain)
3: Mr. Mxyzptlk (People need to start respecting Mr. Mxyzptlk)
4: Mongul (I would love to see him as a main villain in a film)
5: Metallo (So glad you guys gave Metallo some attention)
6: Parasite (Had some of the best episodes in Superman: The Animated Series)
7: Cyborg Superman (I mean, he’s a Cyborg Superman🐐)
8: Toyman (You wouldn’t expect it, but he’s pretty creepy)
My favorite Superman villain is Metallo
Lobo, Mongul, Parasite, Metallo, Livewire. Really from Superman TAS. Lol.
I've always wanted to see Metallo on screen. I thought the BvS had a perfect set up for him. The character that lost his legs in the Superman-Zod battle had the perfect motivation.
Bizarro is my favorite Superman villain, especially when he’s with the Outlaws
Toyman is my favorite Superman villain, and I have my reasons. He is like the Jigsaw of villains with traps, inventions, a doll/puppet avatar, and a trauma-based insanity. While he may not be as smart as Lex or as Deductive as Batman, I believe he is the best inventor in all of DC Comics. For example, he managed to make…
- A bouncy ball that never lost energy, constantly bouncing off of everything until it can move fast enough to even hurt Superman
- A giant rubber duck with sharp teeth that can again fight on par with Superman and consistently hurt Superman, even driving him into the ground
- Toy planes that shoot bullets at a fast enough rate to both hit and hurt Superman
- A ray gun that can transfer someone to literally anywhere in the universe
… and Toyman did all of this without using Kryptonite. He seemingly has no bounds to what his “toys” can do. He has a lot of raw power and an interesting character that’s kind of akin to Professor Pyg.
A few other villains that come to mind, Silver Banshee, Rampage, Conduit, Mongul, Ultra Humanite, and Parasite.
I have to say too by the way, I like the super chill vibe your channel has, it's like listening to just your two friends talking about stuff and it just works
Thanks man, that vibe was/is what we strive for🤝
@@comiclads well you're doing great dudes! I've recommended your channel to a bunch of my friends already, here's hoping you keep growing!
I’ve never really been that interested in Superman but you guys make him so much more interesting
I also love the Brainiac Kryptonian A.I. stories. It makes their feud more personal than any other of his A-tier villains.
Great video guys! Love to see recognition to Supermans phenomenal rogues gallery.
Thanks for watching🙏
I honestly I don't think Lex Luthor gets shoved down like Batman writers or DC in general does with Joker to where other heroes on Superman's rogue feel like they are getting slept on thanks to the Arch Enemy getting the spotlight. I wish Batman writers could take note of that.
Brainiac is so cool, I didn’t know he was a superman villain, I only remember him from Lego Batman 3. Also that outlaws comic sounds really good
I completely agree Superman's Rogue's Gallery is INSANELY underrated. There is so much potential with all of them and yet they always use General Zod or Doomsday who are some of the least interesting members of his rogues gallery. Lex Luthor is of course his best villain and such a fantastic villain, but other villains like Metallo, Brainiac, Livewire, Parasite, Toyman, Bizarro, Silver Banshee, Mr Myxzpltk, Manchester Black and the Elite etc... are all interesting characters and complex villains that acts as polar and moral opposites to Superman and everything he stands for and I wish that more adaptations and media explore them in interesting and unique ways
Malcolm McDowell as Metallo is one of the best voice castings for a comic book character.
Aren’t you in the comments on Blaze’s DC reaction videos a lot?
Excited for the Christopher Reeve’s Superman review?
McDowell's scream before he was caught trapped in lava was terrifying. Metallo also had my favorite themes. Those strings playing in the background of his scenes are chilling.
He’s not really in his rogues gallery but Superboy Prime is amazing and my favorite personally. Hard to translate into live action with everything that has to lead up to it, but he’s cool af
My favorite underrated Superman villains are Parasite and Metallo. I love Metallo’s design and Parasite has really cool powers.
Also, Mxy’s episode in TAS is my favorite and I rewatch it a lot.
It’s SUCH a fun episode. Definitely one of the most re-watchable episodes of the series 🔥
@@comiclads heck yeah it is!
Have you guys seen Brainiac in the show Krypton? It's the only time I've ever seen him in live-action, and they did a great job with him.
Never watched the show but his design was 🤌
For real it's the same problem they keep running into with Batman and Joker , with almost every live action Movie, live action TV show and Animated Series Lex Luthor always has to be immediately brought in , I mean at least with Superman and Lois they waited until the final season to bring Lex in which I don't mind you have to bring Lex in at some point same with Joker you can't just completely not ever use Joker like Lex but I want to see Superman and Batman's other smaller rogue gallery get love before bringing in Lex and Joker which is why I'm a little disappointed James Gunn is already immediately bringing in Lex like every other director has done because I was for sure he would wait to use Lex and bring in lesser smaller Superman villains in this movie, but I'll withhold judgement until I actually watch Superman (2025).
Finally someone giving superman some love
Great video🤙
Superman unironically has one of the most underrated rogue’s
The Bruce Timm universe needs to be used more for villian choices. They managed to make so many villians interesting, threatening, and different foils for superman to develop as a character.
Favourite Superman villain: Brainiac. He's like an alien Ultron and I love him. Plus, as Supergirl once said: "Lex Luthor represents the worst about humanity. Brainiac is the worst about aliens." It's like the perfect mirror to Superman's alien side.
Also, to a lesser extent, Parasite, because I love the body horror involved and his ability to copy powers. And I also really like Metallo because cool Kryptonite-powered Terminator.
A Superman villain that I find super interesting.
Conduit: Kenneth Braverman, born near the crash site on the same day and time Kal-el's ship crashed on Earth which caused the newborn to be eradicated by kryptonite energy, which caused him to have poor health in childhood but would later develop kryptonite powers. Since childhood Kenneth and Clark have been childhood rivals and Clark always managed to com out on top whether it was sports, Boy Scouts, or in love. Kenneth would have a deep hatred for Clark Kent and would eventually plan his revenge as the super powered mercenary Conduit.
If Mr. Mxyztplk/Mxyzptlk (the spelling changes) is ever properly in live action instead of the low budget TV shows, they *have* to do him Who Framed Roger Rabbit style. The realistic old man in spandex always bugged me. The point of him was that he's a cartoon in a realistic world which enhances his outlandishness and antics.
I love what they've done with Brainiac in My Adventures with Superman animated series season 2. He was Krypton's A.I. He thinks his role is to preserve the empire. He has that personal touch because he manipulates Super Girl because he saved her as a baby and raised her as his daughter.
Toyman fascinates me. Especially the version where he just thinks it's all a game. No one's being hurt in Toyman's mind
Look Mr Mxyzptlk is the one chance we have for Danny Devito to be a supervillian. We need to take this shot while we can James
My favorite is Brainiac. He makes more sense as Superman’s arch-nemesis. Especially with the origin of being the villain who blew up Krypton
Superman possibly has the most overlooked and underrated rogues gallery in the history of comics. Lex Luthor; Zod; Brainiac; Bizarro; Pixy; Doomsday; Darkseid; Metallo (my favourite); Parasite; Cyborg Superman; etc
Here are some other rogues from the man of steel's adventures.
-Ultra-Humanite: Superman's first villain, he was originally a frail human scientist who would later transplant his brain into other bodies until he got to the albino gorilla body we all know.
-Microwave man: learned about this guy from casually comics, old man asking alien friends for super powers to prove said aliens friends exist.
-Volcana: Pryokinetic woman who was created for the 90s Superman cartoon and does have a comic book appearance.
-Galactic Golem: A weapon Lex made from science-fiction space matter and hyperstellar energy, it was powerful enough to Superman on the ropes when battling him.
-Ignition: A cyborg conjured into existence by the Joker who had the powers of Mr.Mxyzptlk for a time.
-Bruno Mannheim: The most known leader of Intergang and a devout worshiper of the religion of crime and servant of Darkeid.
My favorites: Brainiac, Zod, Bizarro, Hank Henshaw/Cyborg Superman.
Another one I really loved and seems to be forgotten about is Conduit (Kenny Braverman). As far as I can remember, I think he was only used in the comics once or twice but the storyline of him finding out Superman's identity and leaving the cryptic "I Know" messages for Clark and then the telling of his origin where he was a childhood friend that was jealous of Clark was excellent. Would love to see some version of that in live action. Check out the "The Death Of Clark Kent" storyline from 1995, it's really good.
Loved the video, definitely won a subscription from me
Welcome fellow lad🫡🙏
Superman and Lois I thought had a great Bizarreo. I loved he white cracked skin, glowing blue eyes, backwards S and ripped cape. That was definitely Bizarreo.
Livewire was a character created for Superman the animated series that like Harley Quinn and Mercy Graves become so popular that they brought her in to comic book continuity so she hasn't been in any major stories
Toyman could actually make a great villain in live action form. No one thought Polkadot Man was gonna be a great character in the suicide squad. And he became a fan favorite.
My favorite Superman villain is Lex, but that doesn’t mean I always want him front and center.
I would enjoy more cyborg Superman, and mongul as in-ur-face threats
Brainiac is only from Krypton in the series, in comics, he usually is known for stealing the city of Kandor from Krypton which also connects him personally with Supergirl
How do we still not have at the least a made for tv halloween movie special, Superman vs Silver Banshee. She has an iconic look that hasn't really changed. Her halloween special comics are really scary and fun. We need a Silver Banshee movie where we can see her scary ghost powers challenge Superman.
That one promo image of Superman Legacy with Superman pulling his boot on looks like it has brainiac in the background
When I was going into watching The Justice League movie, I was 100% certain that Brainiac was gonna be the villian. But then I saw a big horned demon man and was like “who even is that?” Needless to say I was pretty disappointed.
Lex and Brainiac are Superman's🐐 super villains.
If Mr Myxzptlk was in live action, it’d have to be Wallace Michael Shawn or Danny Devito imo
Great job man
Bizarro has been adapted in many Superman shows:
Superboy (1988-1992) he was basically Silver Age era Bizarro in this show.
L&C The New Adventures of Superman (1993-1997) (although in that episode he never changed visually into the imperfect clone)
Smallville (2001-20117)
Superman & Lois (2021-) in that show their Bizarro eventually was turned into Doomsday
You guys should do a podcast! You have great chemistry
Once we get enough support/ traction with TH-cam, we fully plan on doing weekly live podcasts where we discuss comics, news, and more :) thank you for your support 🫡❤️
Livewire was Superman’s Harley Quinn for STAS and I feel like she does not get much love. My Adventures with Superman has a very meh design for her but her DCAU design is iconic
Livewire in My Adventures with Superman is so cool. I knew nothing about her before that show but they make her awesome
I love Bizzaro honestly, just a reverse Superman and really odd character riding that line of Frankenstein's monster and a kid trying to figure the world out.
When James Gunn makes a sequel to Superman they need to have Braniac as the villain
6:13 I like the Supergirl origin for live wire where you know she was some radio jockey podcast type deal and while being saved by Supergirl Supergirl is hit with lightning or something electric while holding on to Leslie so the electric current pass through Supergirl and went right into Leslie so her powers kind of come from Supergirl in that iteration
No Hank Henshaw, Eradicate, Parasite, Tolman, Mongol, Lobo, The Elite/Manchester Black, Dominus, and Rolgol Zaar
Those are all great… but Rogol Zaar needs to be forgotten💀
My favorite underrated Superman rogues are Parasite and Atomic Skull.
But if we're talking just my favorite... Darseid is.
I want to see Superman fight Metallo, or Parasite, Livewire, Brainac, or Toyman for a Superman movie.
The most famous Bizarro origin story is NOT being a clone Luthor made. Only the 90’s cartoon did that. Every other version he’s from a Bizarro world with a Bizarro version of every human. Bizarro Joker is the most rational person on his planet
Metallo could be his own movie if done right, would also set up for a Lex Luther standoff later if they wanted it. Although Brainiac needs to happen. I’ve had enough of Zod.
I’m loving this series! I would be thrilled to see a “Reverse Flash is not Flash’s only good villain.”
Personally, he’s got a better rogues gallery than Superman. Some of the Rogues are so interesting, particularly Captain Cold, Mirror Master, and Captain Boomerang. Furthermore Gorilla Grodd is THE DC monkey. Also, so many of the speedster villains are overshadowed by Thawne, Zoom and Godspeed in particular.
Also I Remember, a Series of Super-Man,
Where He Didn't Had Any Main Arch Nemesis Enemies, or Villains.
Just Basic Regular Criminals. Ether Gang or Army.
Or One Episode, with Gozilla Dinosaur Like Type Monster,
Found from in Ice. And Super-Man Defeated It By Making Zoo Place For It.
Another Episode... Where He Took Down Some East Asia Ships.
Another one... Where He Took Down Some Base Enemies, and was
Driving Explosive Truck, and Redurrect It to Fall and Blow somewhere else.
Another Episode... (From those I Can Remember)...
Where some Masked Guys Threw a Bomb at a Locomotive.
And Left the Train with OUT Locomotive, and
Super-Man Had to DO the Dirty Job. Move the Train to the Destination, and STOP It there.
And HE Took OFF Screen The Car of Criminals.
Maybe and some Other Episodes.
But These I Shared, are Most Remembrable to me of these Series.
Also Like... Popeye Like Universe Series.
And There He Had NO Villain Enemies of His own, OR Weakness to Kryptonite.
My favorite Superman villains:
3: livewire
2: toyman
1: Lex Luther
I want to see Despero as the main villain of a Superman movie. He can challenge Superman both mentally & physically.
If you want a good live action Bizarro, then you've got the show Superman and Lois. He's from another universe in said show, but he makes an excellent opponent/foil/character in relation to Superman
Bizarro is probably my favorite. As a kid I played some super man game and I can’t remember what it was exactly so my memory is foggy but you could play as Bizarro and I thought it was fun blowing shit up
My favorite would have to Bizarro because i have a fascination with evil counterparts.
My personal favorite Superman villain is Metallo, it's like, he's a terminator with a kryptonite heart who can hide his identity and it's the coolest thing, plus the whole thing about how he went insane because he can't feel is so interesting
Mixy was in Supergirl which is indeed a live action tv show
… that is true💀
Toyman actually is my favorite. He's the most unique villain in Superman's rogues gallery
