There is no Ken vs Fil. It's a clear case of exposure of fraud. All Fil did was what he's been doing for years - analyzing vocals/performances using reliable data based on requests from viewers. No opinion, no disparagement, just the facts. Since KT is responding in an extremely defensive way shows that he is digging a deeper hole for himself.
@RicoTheUnknown You're ok man !! I watched it, I'm a FIL fan, so inclined to explicit bias, but humbly I say, I'm a wee bit sharper than than to be fooled on a subject so obvious !! 🎸 🎸 🎸 Go bonnie SCOTLAND!!😊 Paisley man myself ... THISTLES ROCK !!!
@@suehamlin51 Yeah, when I see someone like jonathan claim "everything" or some other superlative about a subject, they tend to turn out to be some obsessed fan of a TH-camr. No surprise here. I've been familiar with Ken Tamplin since the 90s, when a friend of mine had two of his albums. We were impressed by both his singing and guitar playing, but that era of metal had talented solo guitarists galore, so he went in with collection of CDs like Blues Saraceno, David Chastain, James Byrd, and Tony MacAlpine. I've also been familiar with Tamplin and Fil's TH-cam channels for years as well, and Fil has exemplified honesty and simple facts, while Ken comes off as overblown and greasy, to be honest.
I thought you did a fine job of giving your opinion without getting involved in the heated discussion. I've been watching Fil for years. His vocal analysis videos have nothing to do with any one person. It's about what the music industry has done to recording artist and the music we buy today. Vocals and harmonies have been auto tuned, pitch corrected and altered. Yes, I still have my library of original vinyl but that's not the point. Unless the music industry decides to release the original unaltered recordings, we have lost the ability to ever hear the original recordings. Recording artist i.e. Freddie Mercury, The Bee Gees, The Eagles etc. The record labels have gone in and altered all these old recordings and rereleased them. This is the story Fil is uncovering for us all to see. Thank you Fil
If KT would just admit it, he'd be fine, and good with his fans, ...maybe more popular?? But he still denies and deletes. I admit to being a FIL fan, mainly because of his INTEGRITY ! 🌟
@CraigFox-lt6lt ken and fil they are both almost identical personalities. i understand the first guy to do a video was one of these kgb online influencer channels that have been infiltrating the USA just about ever since there was internet on computers . although that was only just my first impression . i could be wrong. 🙏
I had never heard of Ken prior to Ken's response to Fil's video and I don't really care whether he can or can't sing. The fact that Ken would allow his followers to harass someone like Fil with the purest of integrity and intent rather than admit the truth to his followers tells you everything you need to know about Ken.
It's been clear to me over the last few decades (after studying psychology in college) that some narcissists attract gullible followers, regardless of their career field, and those followers will blindly believe anything the narcissist says. Ken and his KTVA is a perfect example of such.
The fact is that Ken can actually sing, and sing well and (--check my channels, I'm not Ken!), Fil simply objectively highlighted Ken's isolated vocal tracks and found that Ken was miming IN CERTAIN PARTS of his live performances. Fil was totally respectful and objective, stating many times that he has no skin in the game, no dog in the fight, and that he has no animosity toward Ken, and that Ken can actually sing, and that Ken IS singing in the lower registers. All Ken had to do was admit it, and explain why - because he obviously wants consistency in his live performances /he's getting on in years / he wants to save his voice into the future, etc... This issue has spiraled out of control because of Ken's vehement and childish gaslighting retorts. Whenever someone behaves in this manner, we immediately give them the side-eye and wonder what they're hiding.
A few years ago, I heard Ken sing Maybe I'm Amazed. I told my friend, after seeing the video, that there is no way given what I heard that Ken could replicate that night after night, and his performances were just one off stuff to sell his course. His voice sounded too restricted and pushed at times. Little did I know he was miming a lot of his stuff. He has a great lower to mid tone, but that is it for my ears.
Spot on. Fil never said that Ken wasn't a good singer. Fil is too polite and too humble to say anything like that. His analysis was regarding that particular performance only. Contrast the class of FIl with Ken's in your face, brazen combative reactions. All he needs to do is accept that he can't defy aging and come off his high horse. Instead he has been gaslighting. SMH. Considering you are familiar with Fil, why the caption with "vs"? Came across Fil more than an year ago to watch him analyze The Warning & interview them. He has integrity. And that matters.
Ken tries to confuse the issue. The smoking gun is really his 2020 live stream of Livin’ for my Lord, which Fil analyzed and then Ken responded by deleting it from his channel, which is in itself very telling). Using backing tracks and lip syncing are two different things. When bands use backing tracks (which is quite common as Ken correctly states) they are complementing their live sound (typically with backing vocals and/or keyboards). When singers lip sync, the pre recorded lead vocal is there and the singer is pretending to be hitting those notes. The criticism that Ken is facing is not about backing tracks, but lip syncing. I left respectful comments in Ken’s videos telling him he can still rock and asking him not to double-down and own his lip syncing and he has deleted them. (I have screenshots). His ego will be his undoing.
Unfortunately yes. Usually i feel sorry for someone who is butchered online but Ken makes it impossible to feel sorry for him. He's digging his own grave.
Ken has a long history of deleting even mildly critical comments to his videos. It's why the comment section for every one of his videos is nothing but a wall of glowing praise.
I have to respectfully disagree-his singing ability is definitely questionable. As a working musician, I’ve heard many experienced vocalists raise serious concerns, especially those who perform regularly. When you’re singing week after week, even small technique issues can affect your ability to keep working and earning a living. I work as a musical director for theatre and stage shows (and other gigs), which means I spend a lot of time working with vocal instructors during rehearsals, helping singers refine their parts. Using Ken’s approach would be a real challenge in a live setting. We use in-ear monitors, everything is synced to a click track, but the singers still have to hit every note consistently. You have to be realistic about what a vocalist can do night after night, and make adjustments to the score when needed. In the early 2000s, I worked on Wicked, and it damaged many great singers due to overuse. That’s why big shows now rotate cast members and use alternate keys to prevent vocal strain and most importantly, hire their talent based off of reliability over flash. I say this because Ken’s “stylistic examples” often just sound like a single unstable noise using his exaggerated “T-rex tongue” technique, which makes it hard to take his approach seriously. If you can’t use the same technique to sing an entire section of a song without strain, then good luck singing through a wedding gig for 3 hours. I get that vocal coaches sometimes use unusual exercises to explore different sounds, but Ken’s methods aren’t something a professional could sustain for a full set without risking vocal damage. The fact that he edits tracks together and mimes over them while claiming it’s live is also misleading. I've worked with great rock singers and it's all about pacing yourself, you can't go 100% all the time night after night. The bigger issue is that Ken markets his course as a safe way to sing and claims he’s received offers from famous bands (like Motley Crue) to support his method. None of this has been proven, and it’s misleading for people who want to build a serious singing career but can’t afford expensive lessons or a music degree.
@@Scotmend I sang for a living for 22 years, 6 nights a week. Whether you like his voice or not, is relative. He sounds very nasal to me, but never the less can sing and play. It's the way he's handled the situation. Frankly, lame and now comes across like a poser.
@PorcelainLeigh I understand that music is subjective, and you're right about personal taste regarding his voice. However, I wasn’t addressing the subjective elements; I was referring to his approach, which I find lacking. I feel qualified to express this because I have years of experience practicing my craft as an MD, just as you have as a singer. Unfortunately, Ken simply hasn’t done that-he doesn’t perform often enough for these issues to be addressed. His one live date this year was exposed as involving some miming, which suggests that his approach isn’t effective. I wouldn’t hold Ken to such a professional standard if he had always been honest, but as you mentioned, he’s not, which raises concerns when he advises others on safe singing. I understand what you are saying about Ken in his prime and that's valid. But nowadays you can hear foundational issues in his pre- done recordings which he mimes to, like pushing too hard, which leads to instability and pitch problems. In my role as an MD, I hire based on objective skill and ability, as my decisions focus on reliability rather than personal taste. I’m not claiming to be the best either, but I’ve had the privilege of working with world-class MDs, which was humbling. I learned so much in just a few weeks, yet Ken never seems to discuss this aspect of mastery. Every masterclass I’ve attended by great instrumentalists or vocalists has included an acknowledgment that others can do things better. I find Ken's dishonesty surprising, especially given the incredible older voices out there. There’s no shame in lowering tunes, whether in pitch or intensity. I often adjust parts for 20-year-olds because my priority is making the song sound good, night after night. This usually means getting the band to play quieter in certain sections to exaggerate the dynamics; it’s subtle, but it allows the vocals to shine. Ultimately, a good singer is a joy to listen to, and it’s unfair to push them to sing something like "Let It Go" at full tilt 15 times a week. Look at Idina Menzel-she can barely sing now because she pushed too hard for too long.
@gpowellish1 why does Fil need students in this conversation?? Because someone got caught lip singing, the person who exposed him need students so you believe him even with proof?
I think the music industry needs a reckoning because the fakery and tuning has gotten out of hand and modern audiences don't seem to understand how rampant it is.
When someone claims status of Christian it usually means something not good. It means you are dealing with somebody swimming in certainty with a method to immediately discard responsibility for his misdeeds/sins. Somebody not to trust.
Christian bashing again. Judgemental to assume all Christians are dishonest. Any human can be dishonest, regardless of their beliefs or non beliefs. Fils video was requested and he did prove Ken was lip synching. Not good for sure.Judging all Christian people wasn’t the point of Fils video. Many Christians are sincerely nice honest people. Very narrow view you have. Wonder if Ken was another faith would you have used the language you have all in caps at end of your comment. As a Christian, I am against Kens dishonesty. It’s sad today that being dishonest has become so prevalent in the human race. Also sorry Kens dishonesty has put a stigma on Christians, as I have read far to many comments unfairly bashing all Christians, which is just as unjust as Ken’s dishonesty.
@@Chez8922-kf6cy Please don't paint with a broad brush. I've know honest Christians and dishonest Christians. I've known honest atheists and dishonest atheists. At the end of the day, we're all human with human failings. The only thing each of us needs to concern ourselves with is what will happen to us when we are ultimately judged by God. Will he say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant," or will he say, "Depart from me, you sinner, for I never knew you"?
Broad brushing is not the best thing but It does show you that People who know you as a Christian you have and hold a higher expectation in society The religion secures a standard of ethics and moral judgement that is placed on the general public .... Christians don't mean to look like they are better than the non church goer but its there and Christians judge others by that standard . If a christian behaves in a scamming dishonest manner The bar is set much higher in the judgement of that person .and it damages the entire Christian tribe.
Yes but he mimed the solo so unreal perfectly that it was 100% his own 1 take recording he played to. It was just playback, nothing wrong with that as it was sort of obviois with the facial expression but he should have mentionned it.
Moreover, the fretboard wasn't visible during that note because, coincidentally, he shifted the guitar right at that moment. Clearly he knows how to play all the parts of the solo, so I imagine he just didn't realize that he wasn't going to be able to "play" that note on that guitar until the moment before, and did the only thing he could do to protect the illusion.
Why do you consider this to be a "versus"? Fil simply gave a thorough and exquisite analysis with a rock solid conclusion that eventually got confirmed by Ken Tamplin himself. It's not a debate. It's not a discussion. The only thing that can be considered a 'discussion' is how Ken Tamplin is handling this entire situation (and in my opinion that's really, REALLY poor).
If you watch the video, that’s exactly what I said. The reason I used the VS wording, is because Ken and his fans are denying any wrongdoing and calling Fil a liar.
@@RicoTheUnknown Thing is: Tamplin acknowledged the use of backing tracks in one of his videos as well as a written response. One of the later video's Fil did on this (also his last one, one might add) mentioned/showed this.
Fil wouldn’t. Don Henley didn’t accuse him of doing that when people sent Fil their recordings of Desperado from different concerts. Don wisely said nothing, and has now recorded (or dug up) new/different tracks to lip sync to.
I'm neither a singer nor a musician, but I spent a long time in the music industry as a retail manager and other things, so I have seen firsthand the public's attitude towards this sort of thing. I think Fil has alluded to this, Rico you just touched on it as well, and I agreed with it 100% - my opinion is - at the end of the day singers are entertainers and in the job of entertaining people they may use the tools at hand to do various things, like any other profession, but they MUST be honest about what tools they are using and when. The public is generally not concerned too much when you're dealing with One Direction, who are almost 100% entertainment, as opposed to the other end of the spectrum of pure musicians and singers. The more you get to the Bob Dylan end of the music world, the more upset people might be to discover he's used Auto-tune or backing tracks. Also, when I was a retail music store manager in the 90s, theft was a huge problem, and I dealt with a LOT of unscrupulous liars and learned their ways of talking and behaving when caught. You know where I'm going with this but I'm not going to say it for legal reasons. 🙂
Here's the thing for me. People are, by nature, fairly forgiving especially when it doesn't directly affect them. People make bad choices and no one expects Ken's voice to sound now like it did in 1990. Had he just owned this, sincerely apologized and moved forward, i don't think this would have been more than a speed bump. But Ken's doubling down, removing comments, and deleting questionable videos just makes him look petty and arrogant. That he cloaks all of this in his faith makes it even worse. Come on Ken. Just own it. We already know the truth so your pretending we don't is just a bad strategy.
Nice presentation. Ken should just be honest about it. He can still be a great vocal coach even if he is past his prime and is open about it. I have an in-law whose voice deteriorated after singing opera for years, but she can still teach technique. Think about the older gymnasts, skaters, skiers and dancers who can no longer do a triple axel, or dance en pointe, etc., but can teach others so very well - at the Olympic level! At this stage in Tamplin’s career, it’s his lack of integrity that will bring him down, not his loss of range or other natural decreases in singing ability. Just my 2¢.
I used his course. It was pretty good. Still do some of the exercises he demonstrated. In the course I never saw any arrogance from his side. On TH-cam and livestreams it does shine through that he is sort of full of himself. The way he approached this whole debacle was the most terrible thing though. That's where the real controversy began. His way of attempting to rationalize himself out of trouble has backfired. It sounded like a 15 year old that was caught by the parents. He should have said that "yes we did use some backing tracks and some of the lead vocals was on it". The story would not have caught fire if he had been honest and objective.
Thank you for your honest and common sense approach and comments. You have gained a new Subscriber. I hope it works out well for all parties concerned...and Thank you again...
How about the self-proclaimed guitar guru that he’s technique is so awkward it’s a cringefest to watch him play honestly., what about the time he dissed Freddie Mercury on his live performance, the time he did to Bach as well and many others., or the tongue? What the hell is with that so-called advanced resonating vocal technique that only HE seems to do it in the whole history of great singers. Yes he can sing but the ego behind the persona is just bad real bad.
it is as some people say a cult like following if you adopt kens cult take on Jealously being the reason for calling out Ken then Ken is jealous of Freddie Mercury and Bach but his fans would say nooo that's different but it exactly the same thing
ALL of you are a decade late. Myself, Robert Lunte, Brett Manning, Tony O'Hora and James Lugo have known he's been lip syncing for over 10 years. We never publicly called him out on it for fear of backlash in looking petty and jealous. If you watch our videos from 6-8 years ago, you'll see veiled references to Ken and his fakery.
Wow! That's really interesting. It's a shame to see that. I'm sure he had a great voice at one point but maybe it's gone and he can't sustain a full gig any more. Who knows? I'll keep putting my singing videos on here anyway, in hope that I can get as big a following as him one day 😂. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Also, after sending that reply, I've just realised that it's you Kevin. You have a great voice. I've seen some of your videos in the past. Fantastic mate 🙌🏼
Never heard of Ken Tamplin until Fil’s video. If this guy can sing and play at such a high level, why did he feel the need to lip sync parts of his songs/performances and mime his own guitar playing and go to the added fakery of having headphones on, in his latest reply video?
I had never heard of the dude before, I just follow Fil for the analyses. And I found it incontrovertible. And thanks for giving a nice nod to Fil. He's an righteous guy.
I think you described it best stating that KT is coming from a place of ego. I think that his reactions have besmirched his reputation more than being honest about using a backing track. Well done video, I appreciate the respect you gave both sides.
I can understand adding compression and reverb during production, but not auto-tuning a bad note here and there. My best example, The Beatles. They would bang out a song in one or two takes, then proceed to do the next song 50 times before they were happy with it. The notes weren't all perfect, but the songs were perfect, and still are to this day. Technology can't capture spirit and emotion.
I agree, but most people don’t have time for 50 takes, and if there’s something to help shorten the time in the studio, people will use it. I’m not saying I agree but we live in a modern technological world.
Well said, the Beatles embraced experimentation and studio practice. They would use the 50 takes to refine melodies and arrangements. I suppose this whole debate can be summed up by: when you hear a bad take, do you work on why it sucked or try to polish it? (Spoiler: you can’t polish a turd.)
@@Scotmend Singers should practice enough to be able to sing what they are supposed to sing. Just like guitarists (or any other players) practice enough to be able to play. If they can't play their solos or rhythm sections, they don't practice enough or they chose to perform music that is beyond their current capabilities. Either way, even when it is a current industry standard, it is and will remain a fakery.
Ken's ego seems to be the main problem here. He could have avoided all this scrutiny and criticism if he had just admitted that he'd used a prerecorded vocal on his video and provided a reason for it.
The complex waveforms of singing notes are like fingerprints. It's virtually scientifically impossible to perfecly recreate. Fil demonstrated how audio waveform sequences from Ken's 1990 recordings are used in his current live performances. Lip syncing.
So glad to see another video on this. It's hilarious. Ken needs to quit faking and passing it off as live as if modern technology doesn't expose that 😂
@@SuziQ. Yeah I get that it’s been noticed now, but the guy has been doing this for literal decades. The technology that allows you to inspect audio to the millisecond has also been around for years now too. Just surprised it’s taken this long
I've subbed to Fil ever since he's had 13K subs. I don't like analysis videos and felt sheepish clicking on it. But Fil wasn't doing a reaction video, he was analyzing it from his guitar and singing background. And he's ver respectful. He's done several videos of "awful" videos, but he talks about how difficult it is to make music. And he is the best for eulogy videos, which I wish he would do again. I didn't like when he started with the pitch monitoring videos, but he was nursing a wrist injury and couldn't play. But I came to appreciate them. And I'm using itt now to try and sing since I took the plunge and started playing the piano 2 y ago, after my retirement. I was the kid in choir class that all the directors said to move my lips and not make a sound. I joked that i was born with two left ears. it's changing. And I've started singing. I think I've seen Ken, is he "The Vocals Coach"? I saw him several years ago...once, and never watched him again. While he's a very good singer, he's got a slightly worse personality than Donald Trump. I'll look at some of your videos for singing, since I need help. BTW Fil is also a producer and has a keen ear. He doesn't mind if a note is sharp or flat, that is singing. But he can hear the processing. Maybe you shouldn't seek perfection, and concentrate on being yourself. Screw the industry standard.
@@lawrencetaylor4101 thanks for watching and for your comments. I do agree with you. Fil’s great. I would love to have a channel as successful as his one day.
The problem here is not whether Ken (or anyone for that matter) can sing or sing well. The man was pretending that some off the cuff singing in his videos was just him grabbing a guitar and performing a song. In actual fact Fil proved that he wasn't singing and wasn't playing the guitar! Just because Ken played the guitar at some point (after how many takes?) and recorded it and now mimes to that and is using a lead vocal from 1990 at least and passing that off as a current performance, live or otherwise is fraud. Add to that he is charging people who believe he can perform that well each time. Not to mention there are videos of him reacting to other singers, where he points out and criticises them for cheating when he is using those EXACT same tactics himself. Hypocritical and arrogant
It would be one thing if Fil had disparaged Ken; but when people are outraged that someone _objectively_ and _non-judgmentally_ revealed the truth, that's an admission that those people recognize that the truth is _bad_ even while they direct their ire at the wrong target.
When you’re italicizing or bolding a word or phrase, leave a space before you add punctuation. That comma next to the underscore is why you didn’t get the italicized “bad”.
@@SuziQ. Thanks for pointing that out. I thought they had fixed that. Edit: Just noticed the punctuation in your tag. Does that make it an imperative verb?
@@wlan246 , The period after the “Q” is a mystery to me. I was editing the random numbers off, and trying to create a username that satisfied the gods of the app. I can delete my comments, now that you’ve fixed the italics.
It is nothing to do with "versus". Fil has made a series of objective videos simply stating facts, without criticism or agenda, as the result of a request from a viewer, as all his analysis video's are. Mr Tamplin is either unable or unwilling to differentiate between Fil's content and other channel's such as Marc Ajax et al who have clearly set their stalls out as "versus". Not without some justification, it would seem. In my own humble opinion, anyone like Mr Tamplin who makes such wildly grandiose claims, compares themselves to the world's greatest of all timer's and explains why they are better, and is clearly an eye rolling, hair flicking narcissistic queen (and don't get me started on that tongue thing) should be avoided at all costs, whatever their field of endeavour . Just as an aside, could you not start with "I don't want to get involved" while you're making a video about the subject, apart from that all the best for the future.
Technology doesn't make you a better singer, it makes you something you're not. If you need to correct yourself, sing the part again until it's correct and paste it into the song you sang.
I think this issue has been blown way out of proportion and as a consequence, Ken's response didn't even address the original point from Wings of Pegasus. We know Ken is a great vocalist and vocal coach, and Fil was not accusing him of lipsyncing the entire performance or of using a backing track (everybody does). The issue is that Ken's backing track obviously also contains lead vocals and at parts of Ken's performance the lead vocals on that backing track can be heard over Ken's own singing, due to which it gives the impression that those particular parts are lipsynced. If only Ken could admit that, instead of becoming so defensive and attacking Fil - and maybe explain why he has lead vocals on the backing tracks that he uses when he clearly still has such a great voice - then I'm confident that everyone could leave this behind and move on to other things.
I have watched Fil for years and he is totally honest … never condescending just truthful. And the cherry on top is he is a fantastic guitarist and singer. He’s a superb musician with a great ear and incredible musical style. I stand with Fil ✌🏼🌷🥰
Nice analysis. I just wanted to point out that there are two situations in which people say to someone who is feeling attacked “they are just jealous of you”. 1. Moms whose ugly daughters are getting hate at school. And 2. Drunk women outside of the side chicks house on body cam.
Man ,vocal coaches are a dime a dozen now on you tube, but hardly any of those vocal coaches in my opinion have won a Grammy , or have any gold records on the wall with a track record of their performance... I once had a foot ball coach that had a Bum knee he was great at telling me what to do on the field, but he couldn't do it himself cause of the Bum Knee. what a joke. If I want to learn music & singing I will attend a music school at my local conservatory .
Curious to know… when you were learning KTVA what was your thought on the pushing/ stretching chest philosophy to ‘build a huge powerful chest voice’. I’ve studied ktva for a couple of years and was never 100% convinced it was a good approach as you don’t hear it much elsewhere.
@@jakeah1175 to be honest, I’ve found that it depends on the person/student. Every voice is different and a lot of it also relates to what kind of style you want too. For the big rock stuff I think it works but of course you need to be careful not to overwork one muscle group.
Ken is a brilliant vocal coach who has a long history and pedigree of improving probably thousands of vocalists by now. No doubt he knows what he’s doing and the proof is in the testimonials from the many happy students (that was a pun. You’re welcome). Now that said, it is rather uncomfortable seeing someone of Ken’s stature cheapen all his good work by not being forthcoming and completely transparent about using pre-recorded vocals in videos that he’s claiming to be singing live. I know many people who play live shows and use original vocals in the mix, particularly the chorus sections to layer and create tuning stability where maybe in a live setting they can’t hold the integrity of the pitch. It’s not something I would do personally but I understand why people do it and it doesn’t bother me because most of the time they are singing over the top of the pre-recorded vocal creating a double track effect. I think my biggest disappointment about all of this is that the way Ken has responded and refuted it is beneath him. He made it about backing tracks which wasn’t what the dispute was about. I hope I have as good a voice at Ken’s age and there’s no shame in using techniques to mitigate aging and probably fatigue from teaching students every day etc. the way Ken is deleting comments to try to cover up is just cheap and as I said earlier, beneath him frankly.
@@MichaelOakleyOfficial I completely agree mate. He should have been honest. Now he looks like a charlatan because he’s trying to hide behind the lies. He should have come clean from the beginning.

Ken claims to be a Christian! Now, may I advise him to go through the 10 commandments again. Before he meets his maker. Otherwise I fear that he will be knocking at the wrong door, and more likely will be on a "highway to hell" 🤪
i have not seen anyone call him a bad singer.... just a liar and fraud... and for that reason I'm out.. we live in the age of options we don't (and shouldn't) have to settle for bad behavior just because "he's a good singer " we can just go somewhere else for the content. no fuss no fight just leave these type of people behind. that being said you got a subscribe from me you are kind and honest and that's the type of person i want to give my time too!
it is bizarre with the defenders of Ken some are pro musicians but they lack objectivity.Just because you were taught by or like someone does not mean every performance is 100%. Then the word Jealous used as a defence is just kindergarten stuff its like 'my dad is better than your dad' . My fave musicians have down shit gigs and performances and I have no issues admitting it and my world did not end
I think Ken should of just said hey when you get older you can't hit those highs the same as when your young. I wanted my live show to be great so I used tracks on the high notes. I don't see the big deal. Me personally I'd rather see someone just go at it live and tune down if you can't hit the note anymore. Halford is in his 70s singing live and he just doesn't hit the highs anymore and guess what? Nobody cares!
The thing is, with Ken Tamplin and Don Henley and the rest of it, is Fil just presented the facts. The actual raw data. And Fil carefully explained the raw data for those who hadn't seen such technical information before. He did it professionally, objectively and above all fairly. And the simple conclusion is that these people were using audio tracks. And people can delete and troll and shout and scream and cry foul 24/7. But it doesn't change the fact they were caught out. In fact I can't help but wonder now about the report Don Henley has a team of around 60 internet watchers who scour the likes of TH-cam looking for copyright infringements. Ok, sure they likely do that as it is Don's intellectual property but I can't help but ponder the REAL reason they were getting very amateur TH-camrs with like 14 followers and 30 views to take down the version of Desperado they filmed on an Android at a show they paid (probably a lot of) good money to see was because they were TERRIFIED someone was gonna out them they were duping their fans. Fil just happened to be the one to break the news. As old adage says: Don't shoot the messenger.
Ken puts a big emphasis on being a religious man too. I'm not a religious man - that's Kens' claim. That and "The proof is in the singing." These are things he set up for himself.
Ken had a bit of a problem with just coming clean once he'd been caught claiming one of his performances was live when it clearly was not. As Rico put it at 16:10, Ken is "a guy who's always openly slagged other people off." Ken has been careless with the truth about his abilities, while denigrating the abilities of others, for a long time. At 60 years old his voice may still be very good, but it simply could not still be what it once was, especially as his style of singing would tend to cause rapid deterioration in any voice. If he admitted his mortality now then many of his nasty comments about others and boasts about his own abilities could be thrown back at him for the hypocrite he truly is. Is Ken a fraud or a hypocrite? In my opinion, he’s a hypocrite. He can sing, he can play, and his vocal instructional method has apparently worked for several people. The fact that he has bashed bands and singers doing what he himself has done makes him a hypocrite, not a fraud.
Fraud: intended to deceive. Pretending to sing live when you're actually lip syncing and worse, miming the guitar is deceiving people thus fraudulent imo.
Ken Tamplin is the David Brent of the music world. People see the parrot tongue and the goofy dancing and they go "you're not fooling anyone." They know he's rock and roll through and through.
ken could analyse some of fil's performance if he so wants it but i doubt if there are faults found similar to ken's miming it would easily be debunked
If ken had just admitted it then nobody would have batted an eye. there are many reasons for lip syncing parts of the performance. His reaction of attacking Fil just made everyone pay attention and now he's a meme.
It isn't just the "live" gig where Ken mimed. Look at virtually every analysis video he does where he sings his version of the song.. Pretty much all those are mimed. Am I saying he can't sing? No. Ken clearly can sing. But virtually every song you see him perform - which make you believe they are "live" (headphones on singing into the mike). Those are mimed. I don't know why he does it.
Fil's latest video showing certain Taylor swift live songs making use of electronic 'assistance ' will surely cause a firestorm amongst her army of fans . swift would be wise to get on top of this quickly . She only needs to announce before the concerts in writing on the ticket or live that because the shows are soo long she risks losing her voice and will be using backtracks on certain songs ., i believe her fans would have no problem with that, ending a drama before it starts .
Fil wins! (for tongue placement alone! HA!) Seriously, Fil comes across as a very humble and professional individual that doesn't do anything on his channel in a mean-spirited or click-bait kind of way...

@@stephensouthworth1489 😂😂
You got that right
I had never heard of Ken prior to Ken's response to Fil's video and I don't really care whether he can or can't sing.
Team Fil here!

Ken can no doubt sing and play, but the way he has handled this?
Very telling. And not in a good way.
@@PorcelainLeigh I completely agree. It’s a real shame. He should have come clean about it. 😞
@PorcelainLeigh
I understand that music is subjective, and you're right about personal taste regarding his voice.
Fil is taking no sides he’s analyzing what was given to him and it showed the man was faking it🤷

Ken has by no means a million subs. Those are bought numbers - there is a yt-video up that shows that very clearly.
Dude’s ridin’ coattails. Lol
It's all about seeking the truth
I LOVED your Rattle and Hum Album

I’ll keep it short..

@@wlan246 ,
The period after the “Q” is a mystery to me. I was editing the random numbers off, and trying to create a username that satisfied the gods of the app.
I can delete my comments, now that you’ve fixed the italics.

Fil is classy and a pleasure to watch.Ken is a tool .
@@andrewturner5710 true. I don’t really want to get involved but I felt I was fair without slagging anyone off, which is what I was attempting to do.
Good explanation
@@connorburtontraining1297 thank you for watching 🙏🏼
Sure, it's ok to fake ,or mime a wee bit, but one should just ADMIT IT, like you clearly aaid. 😊
I have watched Fil for years and he is totally honest … never condescending just truthful. And the cherry on top is he is a fantastic guitarist and singer. He’s a superb musician with a great ear and incredible musical style. I stand with Fil ✌🏼🌷🥰
Absolutely
If I want to learn music & singing I will attend a music school at my local conservatory .
to get a grammy u gotta visit p diddy
Curious to know… when you were learning KTVA what was your thought on the pushing/ stretching chest philosophy to ‘build a huge powerful chest voice’. I’ve studied ktva for a couple of years and was never 100% convinced it was a good approach as you don’t hear it much elsewhere.
@@jakeah1175 to be honest, I’ve found that it depends on the person/student. Every voice is different and a lot of it also relates to what kind of style you want too. For the big rock stuff I think it works but of course you need to be careful not to overwork one muscle group.
@@RicoTheUnknown great answer, much appreciated - love your covers btw - they sound great

Ken should have been honest and I am sure it would have been okay with most everyone. Yet he wasn’t and now his credibility has suffered. He is still doubling down on the lies. 🧐 What a shame.
@@themotownboy1absolutely! He’s been very forthcoming with his thoughts on others in the past so he should have been more careful before trying to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes. It’s the lies on top of the lies that I don’t like 😢. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Right then, he's a bloody scammer. Thank you.
Hi Rico🎉
it is bizarre with the defenders of Ken some are pro musicians but they lack objectivity.Just because you were taught by or like someone does not mean every performance is 100%. Then the word Jealous used as a defence is just kindergarten stuff its like 'my dad is better than your dad' . My fave musicians have down shit gigs and performances and I have no issues admitting it and my world did not end
Was going to write "there is no Ken vs Fil, just raw data versus a pathological liar", but I see people already have that covered in the comments.
Bro. He’s been doing it since 1989.
Peace.
Ken puts a big emphasis on being a religious man too.
I'm not a religious man - that's Kens' claim.
That and "The proof is in the singing."
These are things he set up for himself.
Ken had a bit of a problem with just coming clean once he'd been caught claiming one of his performances was live when it clearly was not. As Rico put it at 16:10, Ken is "a guy who's always openly slagged other people off."
Ken has been careless with the truth about his abilities, while denigrating the abilities of others, for a long time.
The internet can be very cruel at times for some not-so-severe flaws in people's character. In this case I'll be pleased if this guy is "cancelled".

😂 Freddie is the greatest ever.
He’s both.
Look up the definition of fraud. Ken is a fraud.
Ken Tamplin is the David Brent of the music world. People see the parrot tongue and the goofy dancing and they go "you're not fooling anyone." They know he's rock and roll through and through.
"I don't want to get involved." I don't believe you.
😂
ken could analyse some of fil's performance if he so wants it but i doubt if there are faults found similar to ken's miming it would easily be debunked
She only needs to announce before the concerts in writing on the ticket or live that because the shows are soo long she risks losing her voice and will be using backtracks on certain songs .,
i believe her fans would have no problem with that, ending a drama before it starts .
I completely agree! I hope it was just on certain songs where she's dancing, etc though, because otherwise, it's just cheating.
Fil wins! (for tongue placement alone! HA!) Seriously, Fil comes across as a very humble and professional individual that doesn't do anything on his channel in a mean-spirited or click-bait kind of way...
