The lyrics in this tune blow my mind every time I hear it. It says so much, and with incredible simplicity (because we are only ordinary men).

One of the best performances with Pink Floyd is their live 1994 pulse concert the music is just awesome with a light show that is as you say mind blowing. We always say you don’t listen to Pink Floyd you experience Pink Floyd. David Gilmours guitar solos are simply breath taking and I love his vocals. Loved your reaction to them.

If you are going to listen to Pink Floyd the best option is the Pulse concert. All of this album is played live plus much more and it is a masterpiece

I respectfully disagree. I saw them live in 94 and I love everything about the Pulse concert. But listening to the studio/album versions first is the way to go.

I was 12. So 1986. At a costco with my dad. They had a four pack of CDs in the bin, and I only had a couple of CDs then. The four were Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, and Dark Side. I was enthralled by the covers. I’m not sure if I even had heard of the band, but I convinced my dad to buy it for me. I can’t remember now which I listened to first but I think it was Atom Heart Mother. This music literally changed my life and guided me through my teenage years. I am so grateful for all of it.

A classic album that in its heyday was bought by 1 in 5 of the world’s population in the early 1970’s. I had 2 copies, my first was stolen! Listen to Umma gumma. One of Pink Floyd’s earliest albums!

Pulse ' The second half of the concert on July 15 ,1994 in Pontiac Silver Dome they played the entire DSOTM for the first time since 70"S. They ended up doing the rest of 1994. i had a feeling 1994 they where done. I recommend everyone look up the meaning of the lyrics before listening. Has a every deep meaning of the "powers that be" and the ones who don't. Turn of the lights role a fatty and listen to the whole song.

I have a list of many of the best artists that I made up for reactors. From the 50s-70s: Pink Floyd's 'Echoes' and 'Time'. Martin Denny- 'Quiet Village' and 'Exotica'. Moody Blues- 'Nights in White Satin' and 'Legend of a Mind'. Supertramp- 'Goodbye Stranger' and 'Even in the Quietest Moments'. Rush- 'Freewill' and 'Xanadu'. Frank Zappa- 'I'm the Slime', 'Don't eat the yellow snow',' and 'Inca Roads'. Steely Dan- 'Deacon Blues'. Led Zeppelin- live versions from the TSRTS concert, ('Dazed and Confused', and 'Stairway to Heaven'), ELO- 'Livin' Thing', and 'Tightrope'. Yes- 'Wonderous Stories', 'Awaken', and 'I've Seen all Good People'. I can't stop! Joao and Astrud Gilberto- 'The girl from Ipanema'. Also, groups like ELP, the Beatles, Renaissance, the Who, (Tommy), and Jethro Tull- 'Sossity,' 'Songs from the Wood'. Also, a novelty parody band 'Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band'. Oh- I want to add, Alan Parsons Project- 'Eye in the Sky', 'Time', and 'The Raven'.

For some reason you stopped the song short.
Admittedly, many songs deserve to be stopped short , like even before they begin......but not a Pink Floyd song.....not unless you really hate what you are hearing.
Pink Floyd were always experimental and different.
The ending can be the best part, or change the meaning of the whole song, or even album.
Or simply lead into the next song.....but you will never know if you cut it short like a disc jockey taking orders from the company accountant.

  • @BorealisNights
    @BorealisNights 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yeah.. cut short... anyways...
Can I offer little honest critique/advice, without offence?
I'm new to your channel, but one thing that is consistent in what Ive heard is just a couple production/post-production issues.
the balance between your voice and the music is too extreme... when we CRANK IT UP. full blast(since the music is at a low level) to enjoy it fully like you are doing, when you speak, it is truly ear-splitting. So, see if ya can't get a lil help balancing that out.
and the other issue is also sound quality related.. your music portion is only mono for us, so we also don't get the effects of the fine use of stereo. (something that seems to be mostly missing from music today, perhaps because so many listen on bluetooth devices, that even though they say stereo, are still not real stereo cause the speakers are high beside each other... I still listen to most of my music on a full blown, large, home stereo system (I'm 63).
Anyways, as I said... you're doing pretty good but it would be just that much better if you could conquer those two lil issues.
Keep it up! you're on the right track!👍🏼✌🏼🇨🇦
