      To say that David Gilmore is very good is about as much of an understatement as you could possibly make, Considering that his guitar work on dark side of the moon Had a great deal To do with the album staying on the Billboard charts for 753 consecutive weeks

    A 30-year-old recording of 50-year-old music. Tens of thousands of fans, sitting quietly mesmerized as David Gilmour makes his guitar "cry and sing." Too amazing.

    The "young guy" is Guy Pratt 1962, son of British actor Mike Pratt (Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased TV series) ). He was brought in to replace Rodger Waters, the original bass player and lyrics after the fall out with the band. Guy has played on many session songs, and is well known in the music industry. Now a permanent member of Pink Floyd and married to Rick Wright's daughter

    Pretty impressive huh? :) There were 192 stage technicians involved in setting up that light show. Way ahead of their years, in so many ways. 45 years in and this song still makes my eyes misty.

    • @BimuReacts

      192? Is there a reason why Pink Floyd always got that Amazing light setup ?

    • @torstenlaumen5766
      @torstenlaumen5766 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      little information on the side. Pink Floyd needed so much electricity for its light show that not every hall could cover it. That's why they always had two trucks with powerful power generators to support them, which were only needed for the light show. In addition, each stadium or hall was acoustically measured and the speakers were then aligned to ensure perfect listening pleasure.

      @@torstenlaumen5766 A little information with a massive outcome ;) I had opportunity to work on about a 700 seat venue for a large church, the sound company vendor was fantastic and took many things into consideration speakers and sound treatments and a little digital processing to boot. i can only imagine what it's like perfecting a 20,000 seat venue!

    This song story is only a part of a whole story presented in the album 'The Wall'. It's the story of a young musician who isolates himself from the world with a mental wall. In 1980-81 the band played the whole album as a theatrical performance where a colossal wall 35 feet high was built at the stage hiding the band from the audience. And then it came crashing down at the end.

  • @Christopher50now
    @Christopher50now 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I’ve watched a ton of people react to this show. The lights you see in this video are about 20% visible. In RL this was insane.
    Edit: If you want real Pink Floyd there’s a movie called “Pink Floyd live at Pompeii.” It’s just the 4 of them with original bassist Roger Waters. No crowd. The young people you see in this tour were hired musicians that happen to keep their job for 15-20yrs. If you do “Pompeii” react to the whole thing. That recording is when the band said they “found the Floyd sound.” Well the song Echoes is the exact song but you’ll get the idea.

    • @stevem-h3562

      "The young people you see in this tour were hired musicians that happen to keep their job for 15-20yrs."
      well, I've seen some ignorant comments about Pink Floyd in my time, but that one takes the cake, LOLZ

    • @Christopher50now
      @Christopher50now 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@stevem-h3562 Guy Pratt and Jon Carin have been in the fold for quite a while. Yes they were session musicians who were paid to play. Sorry you found this ignorant. Says something about you.

    • @stevem-h3562
      @stevem-h3562 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Christopher50now Pratt & Carin were indeed sessioners. As were Sam Brown, Durga, the late Claudia Fontaine, Tim Renwick, Gary Wallis... none of them were either full members of Pink Floyd, or on a retainer, "keeping their jobs for 15-20 years". They were there purely to play on that particular tour, Durga hasnt recorded with Gilmour since, Sam lost her voice, Renwick didnt get called back, Pratt did, to play on Gilmour's solo works, but Gilmour's solo works are not Pink Floyd tracks. Likewise, Tony Levin played on the Momentary Lapse album, not Guy;
      The only full members left at the end were Gilmour and Mason, once Wright passed away, following Waters's egotistical flounce.
      Im afraid what you posted was ignorant. It was devoid of context, it was inaccurate and it says something about you as well in how you view these.
      If you put something on the internet which is inaccurate, dont be surprised when someone calls you out on it. If you dont like it, dont post on an open forum or on a thread that can be replied to.
      Simple really.....

      @@stevem-h3562 glad you’re here to fill in my context with your devotion to the ongoings of Floyd. I commend you on your Google skills.
