A tremendous song from what is one of the very best albums ever, Dark Side of the Moon. It has even more impact and relevance as part of the whole album. Even if you don't want to do album reactions, that album is worth you time on a weekend night when you have 45 minutes to spare, it would be time well spent to say the least and you get the whole picture of their look at the human condition. Check the lyrics as well. You will love it for sure, enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎷🎶

Funny you should say that about listening in the dark, as that is, traditionally, an ideal situation to be listening to Dark Side Of The Moon. Opinions vary widely as to the merits of Roger Waters' lyrics, but I think he sums up the futility of war brilliantly in these lines from Us And Them:
Forward he cried from the rear
    And the front rank died
    And the general sat
And the lines on the map
    Moved from side to side

"In a dark room" -- you are prime for Pink Floyd.
Listening to Pink Floyd albums in their entirety in a dark room with headphones is a tradition for PF fans. I think it is safe to say that the album this song is on -- The Dark Side Of The Moon -- may have began this practice. Or at least solidified it.

Lol...many, many years ago I used to listen to "The Wall" in a dimly lit room at high volume while engaging in illicit substances! Fast forward some 40 years, I retired from a "sensitive" career. Being that those same substances were no longer illegal in the state I was in, I participated in a little nostalgia reunion.

Not enough can be said… this song, this album, will stay with you, and only grow more meaningful as you age and become more wise. Of course it was born in the 1970s, of course. Music like this could not have come from any other era. One of the world’s best creations, we can only love humanity more because it was capable of creating THIS.

Rick Wright's composition, "Us and Them", dates back to 1969 and was intended for film (Zabriskie Point). Then called "The Violent Sequence", it was a piano/bass instrumental that was to play during the final sequence of the film, where a house explodes. But Antonioni judged the piece "pretty but too sad" and "reminded him of the church". He preferred "Careful with That Axe, Eugene", which suited this sequence much better.

I am curious to see your reaction to the Pink Floyd song The Great Gig in the sky. Pink Floyd let an outsider in the studio named Clare Torry to perform this piece. What this woman did was create perfection without saying a word and if you let it they can move you to tears. Oh I think you have a killer smile as well.

  • @mnn1265
    @mnn1265 ปีที่แล้ว

Pink Floyd doesn't just create music, they make art. It is life-changing and it only grows in influence over the years as you age with it! I first heard Pink Floyd when the album Animals was released in January of 1977 when I was in the 5th grade and it continues to grow on me today. It's fun to watch young people experience Pink Floyd for the first time but you should know that the experience of you doing so can reduce an old Pink Floyd fan like me to tears. Just realize that in 50 years from today this same music may still impact your life in a profound way... not something you can say about most music!

The album is a Bible for modern life. Still relevant even 50 years on, human being are still human beings.
Definitely needs to be done in 2 hits (side 1 / side 2) themes follow and each track transitions directly into the next.
Side 1 life death and fear of death.
Side 2 the struggles aspirations and threats we all face.
"There is no dark side of the Moon really, matter of fact its all dark"

I mean 'e got off light, 'cause I coulda given 'im a thrashin' but I only hit 'im once. It's only the difference between right and wrong innit? I mean good manners don't cost nothin' do they, eh?[9]
