This tutorial is amazing and answers a lot of questions for me about painting rocks and stones. I really appreciate your teaching style, compassion and sincere desire to help us learn. Would love to learn more about painting motion such as birds in flight, an animal standing up on hind legs, birds feeding their young or squirrels eating or something similar, or even a car in motion. I would also love to learn how to paint candles with the halo glow around the flame, or reflection on window glass. Thank you for your great tutorials!

I've been painting the butterfly on the rocks over and over, and I can never seem to be pleased with my rocks! Not my butterfly, but hey! Can I ask a very basic question? So far as a beginner I have painted only on a desktop with my board being slightly angled up at the back, so in effect an almost, but not quite, horizontal surface. Are there any particular disadvantages to this approach as opposed to using an easel which obviously provides an entirely different dynamic in terms of the more vertical angle at which you are painting? Any thoughts on the pros and cons of both approaches would be very much appreciated.Thanks again for another insightful tutorial.

so pleased you painted rocks as i was struggling with them so much. nothing to do with this tutorial, but i seem to be very heavy handed, its getting me down. please advise. i have watched a few artists on youtube, before i found you, their work can not be faulted in any way, they dont explain as clear as you do. hope im not coming across nasty.
