You do such an excellent job in showing detail that I cannot find in other tutorials. Details I've needed to make my clouds look like cloud.....not blobs. Thank you so much for these lessons
Watching this, i'm smiling like idiot.. it's soooo beautiful..❤
My heart feel so warm..
Gorgeous! Thank you for showing this
I LOVE your lessons! I only wish you would explain if you're using a wet brush, or dry. I'm trying to see what you do, and can't tell if you wet your brush, or add water to your paints, or neither.
You called them SIMPLE. For me they are difficult to be painted but fabulos! Thank you for tutorial. I will try !

While forming the clouds-
First lay in the shadows- using light pressure while shaping them-
Then- with the light colors- still forming the shapes- light touch- “bouncing “ the brush - like a hit or miss keeping brush to canvas (not lifting it off-away)….
It helps to think - your writing- using a brush - and paint-
Your brushwork- creates shapes- forms-
The goal is to learn how to write using a brush-
Here he demonstrates the many methods of how to manipulate the brushes and what kind of brush used to create an effect-
It will really help to follow “each” lesson in order and listen- to what he says- and pay attention to his handling of the brush--
Don’t skip his series - the first video of this series- he talks about while demonstrating what brushes to use for what effects and demos how to manipulate the handling of the brush--
Note his hand- gestures- how he holds the brush- how he moves his hand with brush- and he always - and watching the series in order- he articulates and demonstrates- what method to use to get a specific effect-
Like- scrubbing- scratch- etc
Here with clouds - he’s using light touch- bouncing- or swishing- flickering- however word works better- while keeping brush on canvas- too canvas- swishing and ah swaying kinda deal--
Note- when he mixes the shadow color- how he mixes various values of the gray- lights and darks-- not just one shadow value--
If you really watch his hand movements
Watch when he mixes the colors
Listen to what he says- and follow the series in order- he is really giving the necessary foundations in order- to proceed to next steps
It is every painters own signature brushstrokes that will make their work’s unique-
With time- practice (always keeping in mind- with brush in hand- what shapes and forms you want to create) and what pressure- what manipulation of brush- flicking and flatter- scratch and scrub- (there’s other terms for same) but sticking to his choice of terms-
Really watch number 2 over and over- (must know and have watched the videos prior in order)
In number 2- he has various values of the shadow color-(darks) and various values of the highlight color (lights)
This is what creates the illusions of depth- (shape and form)
while your brushstrokes creates the - shape and forms- characteristics- like what kind of clouds- and if they’re long- fluffy- and such--
Various values of shadows (darks) creates shapes- form and depth-
Various values of highlights- (lights) creates shapes and forms-
Various manipulation of movement with your brushstrokes (handling of brush) flicks- bouncing- swishing and swaying- left - right - up down- curve or straight etc
AND various- pressure- light- or harder-
It is the brushstrokes that will define the character of the shape/ and form of the kind of clouds- the character of -
Number 2- really watch take note of again his hand movements and handling of the brush-
And again the various value Mixes of shadow and highlight- darks and lights
He creates a string of values for each

@belolena the answer to your questions regarding the acrylic paints consistency- watch his lesson 1 here - of painting materials- towards the end- he talks about the name brand of acrylic paint he uses- and demonstrates up close the thickness of the paint-
This brand is very good- as it is a thick consistency- if you cannot find this particular brand name- the brand named
“Basics” by liquitex is the same consistency as well- note that liquitex has many brands of acrylics- the cheapest name is “Basic” and is very good- again same as the brand he uses-
I’ve followed him since his very first videos and have emailed him regarding this years ago- and tried both brands- the Monte brand he shows in the first lesson here is best- followed by liquitex Basics brand…
The brushes are placed in water and dabbed dry with paper towels- brushes should on her “damp” …
The canvas- is landscape textured- weaved - and a “smooth” texture for florals-
Hope this helps- again review lesson 1 here-- regarding the paint brand and consistency-- he does a very good job explaining this in that video.
Have fun- hope this helps-
The filbert brush- is a weasel hairs- he uses- however- hog bristles (soft) are good- I prefer not to use animal hairs-
There are brushes that are made to replace them- Kevin Hill of paint with Kevin channel sells 2 sizes flat brushes that are NOT animal based hairs- can be found on his website under “oil painting brushes” they’re wonderful and last -
Also- the Bob Ross “floral” filbert is a non- animal hair brush- the floral filbert- this artist uses the “filbert” brush not flat- although flat works as well-
The Ross Floral brushes are great and last long-
Спасибо за такой подробный ответ@@Milania717
