    The PSVR 2 uses PenTile Oled displays to produce an image. This means it uses a diamond shaped sub pixel arrangement. This was found to give you more green sub pixels than the red and the blue. The Mura might be reduced if there is a way to use a green filter lens. The down side is that it may introduce wrong colors because you are filtering down the green. Perhaps if game developers made an option or there be an option in the OS to change the three primary colors to your liking which might help.

      Pinned 🤩

    • @greattantrum523
      @greattantrum523 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MacInVR I hope somebody can verify this. But it might have to due the way how the image is displayed. I saw another video were someone talked about using glasses that filtered out the green a bit and it helped a lot against the mura. If it needs a bit of green filter than one might not need to turn down the overall brightness. If people can do this or if there is software that can verify this then that might be a solution.

      Pentile is not why we're getting mura. The PSVR1 was RGB and had the same issue. The problem is that they are skipping a step in the QA process, probably to get these panels as cheap as possible, leading to the pixels not being evenly bright across the panel.
      The best way to solve this would be to somehow get a readout of the brightness of each pixel and then use an algorithm to artificially age those over-bright pixels. This is how modern OLED displays deal with it when it comes to image retention and burn-in (my LG C1 has a 'pixel refresher' that does exactly this). The problem is I don't think the PS5 could get that data from the screens unless there's some tech in there we don't know about.

      @@marksimpson1007 I suspect the reviewers who claimed it looked great were running this update already. It’s been in beta. I do find the mura less pronounced with this new update, looks like they throttled back the brightness on the green sub-pixels. Could be placebo effect, though.

    I wear bifocals and find the bottom half was blurry all the time, so I decided to try wearing my prescription sunglasses which aren't bi's. This helped a lot and I think it cuts down on the mura a little too. I also saw a video where this guy mentions wearing mirrored sunglasses. His had a green tint which filtered out green color. He said it practically got rid of the mura.

    Wear the halo band lower on the back of your head than with PSVR1. It feels a bit awkward, especially for those used to PSVR1, but it really does work. This will eliminate a good bit of blurriness. Good video, much appreciated!

The headset literally tells you if you are wearing it correctly and in the sweet spot using eye tracking. Problem is blur is still there for a lot of people after putting headset on correctly. The PPI is actually worse than quest 2 after all and there's literally a screen filter installed to blur the image to reduce SDE.

Hearing these issues i fought on rift and wmr are still alive on psvr2 makes me stay the hell away. They should have used pancake lenses and all the downsides are gone. I also hate pentile screens. Im new to vr gaming n been playing re8 n call of the mountain last few days,n yea cool but with this headset idk about other set ups..just feels like alot of adjusting, readjusting to get things right,ive lost tracking snd been sent out of the game n have to go back in,sort of loses the immersion for me,mura effects all that..at this point still cant beat just turning on the ps5 n t.v sitting down getting straight into some good ole fashion flat screen gaming,without having to adjust stuff..i still like vr tho im not sending my headset back..i hope that visually things will improve.

    Most difficult part is having it sit correctly with my glasses without my glasses touching the Headset lenses. Waiting on PSVR2 Custom prescription lenses.

    It's not mura, it's a filter they used between the lenses and screen, nothing u can do
