Yea it's not the best design. I thought mine were charging over night only to find they had no batteries today so it can't have been lined up right. Once you've messed around with it a bit you do get used to it. Should definitely have been better designed though.

I agree it looks cool , just a little over priced for what it is ( the official one ) il probably go third party as want a stand too , but apart from cost the official one is fine
The lights on the controllers pulse on/off when charging. When they are completely empty they pulse at a very slow speed. The more they are charged, the faster the pulsating light will go on/off. That's a visual cue on the current charge level of the controller and how much longer they need to charge. When fully charged, the lights will turn off.
The light kept going on and off during the livestream, at one point one was pulsating and the other one wasn't, and then they switched, and I get it that that's how the controllers indicate their change level ( we can't change it), but would it hurt them to include some sort of an indicator on the charging stand itself?? IMO it is a very unintuitive design
@@DiscoVRTetiana I agree that it would be much better if the dock had some LED lights on it and stronger magnets. I appreciate the PSVR2 related content you're making :)
Please do not be so quickly dismissive of the official product. The electrical design has three pins, power plus sensing to prevent wear and overload. To my knowledge, the current third-party options have a dual pin (disk and dot) that only provides power, thus only relying on the controller's internal circuitry to prevent wear and overcharge. Sony does things for a reason, it is good to have options, but this is not an all-inclusive presentation of pros and cons.
if you hold the controllers as if you're playing a game and then simply place them both in the charging cradle, it looks like they would just seat correctly
Yeah, I have this charger and it really sucks. I put the controllers in yesterday to charge and left them over night and they still aren’t charged, so now I’m trying again, made sure to absolutely get the controllers seated correctly, and one is blinking one is not. I have no idea if the non blocking one is fully charged or dead. It would be REALLY helpful to have some kind of indicator if something is fully charged or not charging at all. I also have the Sony ps5 controller charging dock and I hate that one too. I should have known better than to buy another PS5 official charging dock. My honest review: the connector has a magnet, when you place them they automatically find their way to charge. You can increase the led intensity for the controls. Imo this is more of a commercial for that awful looking charger 😂.
Thanks for the video Tetiana. I was looking for a charging stand for my PSVR2 and decided to get this one on your recommendation. I set it up a little while ago and so far so good. I preordered the Creative Minds charging station ($30 US). Because of demand, it won't ship until Mar. 29th. The one you have looks awesome!🤗 I bet they're both a better deal than the Sony one.
There are USB-A and USB-C ports on the back of the charger, I used the USB-C to power the charger itself, the USB-A one can probably be used to charge your headphones!
Not sure about your suggested alternative but you're absolutely correct about the Sony one being junk. I experienced the same two problems, hard to locate them correctly and a lack of LED showing you what's going on.
I've been using the magnetic inserts and cables with all PS controllers, headsets, and accessories since I got the PS4 Pro years ago. Kinda a let down that the "official" chargers are using the same tech. Definitely kept me from buying it. This all-in-one stand looks pretty slick though. Thanks for making a non-sponsored vid!
i know this is off topic, but how do i use my ps5 cam and capture both gameplay and video cam? i just got my ps5 and psvr 2 because of no more freaking good aaa games on the pc front these days😅
@@DiscoVRTetiana ahh i see.. i was hoping they finaly made it easy to capture gameplay with videocam overlay in there software, but noooo😅 cant find any videos on the net about it:( i have seen gamertag and others done it, but i could not even see an option adding the ps5 cam to the game capture..you are doing great content by the way! regards from norway:)
I'm curious, if you put the stronger magnetic pieces from the 3rd party charging station in your controllers, do the controllers lock in better on the official charging station?
I got a psvr2 full stand charger that holds the headset, ps5 mounts to its middle, charges both vr controller and 2 regular controllers at once and it works so nice (has add on side clip to hold disc cases if you ahve them. I do however have it plugged in to a wall charger outlet rather then the PS5 itself. Indicators on front display show when its charged, has safety to prevent over charging, comes with extra magnetic plugs. Third party seem much better.
I use an Ipega bluetooth controller for my retrogaming via my phone, retroarch and roms and it performs perfectly. Good to see them succeeding with this too!
Alternative looks nice, although one must be careful not to put it in area with direct sunlight. Sunlight can burn the screens when it hits the lenses.
Hello! 😊 Im from Sweden, and i got the official loadingstand like two month ago. And i to notice the problem with that its dificult to get the controllers to sit in correct. I still got mine standing on a little table, and i like a challange. But you are soooo correct! Its not a good build and im still living with it. 😊 Atherwise i really like the PSVR! Especially RE Village. 🤓
I feel like it should have magnets near the ports so that it sticks in and gives you the feedback that "it's plugged", as well as the lights should say on at all times to indicate power lvl.
It's fine, just lay it on the magnetic side first and also there's a light indicator on the bottom of the controllers letting you know that it attached and is charging.
first time I used it, I attached it and there were no lights coming from my controllers. I was confused because I didn't know if my controller charger was plugged in correctly or not, and if my controllers were charging. You can see my confusion in the yesterday's livestream. There are absolutely no light indicators on the charger itself to show it's plugged in and working, that's bad design.
Ok so I felt same as you at 1st so I too went on Amazon and bought a stand (not same one but similar). Was great but after 10minutes of gameplay after a full charge, the battery was at half! Staring at the controllers in the charge station with the blue lights on I was thinking if it constantly draws from the controllers. So I plug the original back in and maybe its just me but I think theres a difference on how long a gameplay session lasts. Since cant just go and buy extra controllers I need all the juice stored in those bad Larry's.
Oh and fyi...you can set the official stand to a second position! Not sure if it was intended but it works. On its face so the controllers stand more upright.
There is nothing wrong with it. You just need to make sure in on right . I own it, and I have no issues at all with it. The best way to know when it's on right is to move it left and right when done right it will not move. I love it mine
I noticed this as soon as I tried to place the sense controllers. It is so difficult and should be this hard. How did this product pass the testing stage? I am considering returning it and getting a 3rd party. The one you showed looks cool
Personally I don't see what the problem is. When the diodes of the controller flash they charge, and when they don't, they're charged. What's the point of drawing power when the job is done? The charger looks stylish, stable, and I live in the fact that the shape of the charger doesn't allow you to put the controller wrong. the only argument I understand is the higher price. But that's the way it is with the original accessories (replaceable covers, bases, etc. ) The fact that someone would rather buy an ugly circus charger with ten diodes is not a necessity but a matter of taste.
I agree the Sony charger is not intuitive at all. It takes a bit of getting used to how the controllers sit and what to look for to confirm they are charging. But I am happy to accept that as I think once they are docked it looks very neat
I do prefer the low-profile look of the official charger. My PS5 sits in my living room so no large stands please. I also don't like unnecessary LEDs in my room, like blue LEDs that light up non-stop when a controller is full, or like that plexiglass bubble pole. That said, an unreliable charging experience is bad. Still on the fence.
I have the same issue , I was going to make a video about it , but you made a far better job explaining 👍 it . It is kinda shocking that this was made by Sony .We expect better 😌 from Sony , come on Sony !
I got a $3 double headed usb c cable off aliexpress and I'm done. Easy and takes 2 seconds to plug in and I know it's charging. I don't care for it to look good sitting there, but I understand people that want that.
I do have those double-headed USB cables as well, very handy! But I really enjoy magnetic charging when it's done well. I'm more confident in it with the third party one I got
@@jimmytan2208 lol yep. I'm surprised they didn't make removable face plates to sell. I'm sure some 3rd parties will release skin decals soon lol. I'm fine with my whole setup being the 2-toned black and white.
I was dumb enough to order the Showcase because it is compact and looks cool. What I didn't realise is they would delay its release until March 3, so I am having to manually charge right now. Fortunately I have 2 mains powered USB C chargers and it charges them fast. The Showcase should be fast too, just like the official one. There are some cheaper ones that use USB to power and they will take 4 hours, ugh.
There is another problem.. when my controllers die i need to connect them for few seconds on a cable first and then on the charging station because if not, you don't see the pulsing light and I think they don't charge at all ...
I love it! It's easy to place them in the correct position after getting used to it acouple times. Just make sure you see the lights blink when you put them in so you know they are charging, then when the lights are off you know they are fully charged. I think the charger is small, sleek and beautiful!
I have similar "is it charging?" Issues with the Sony dualsense controller charing stand too. Really hard to get it right with those controllers too. But I've gotten used to it with my dual sense and I'm sure I'll get used to it with tye sense controllers too. Best of luck to everyone struggling.
My BEST psvr 2 unofficial accessory....I had a halo set for quest 2 that had an amazing forhead pad thats removable. Popped that on psvr2 WAY more comfy!
I'm waiting for more exclusive games titles before I get a psvr2 and I wasn't really thinking of getting any accessories (seems pretty good right out of the box) based on several video impressions I've seen so far. But your video made me realize I currently don't have much storage space for the psvr2 (my Quest 2 is stored in a bobvr case) so I think the one accessory I'll get for sure is that headset/controller charging stand or similar design later on.
Hmmm, criticism with a direct reference to a third-party manufacturer? Sounds a bit like an advertising contract. I've just tried it again myself to see if I'm a bit awkward. Put the Sense Controller in, you hear it click briefly and the charge indicator on the Sense Controller starts pulsing. Incidentally, the operating instructions also state that the pulsating light goes out as soon as the controllers are fully charged. Greetings

Thanks for the info. Can your turn off the decorative lights? I don't like all the lights on when I'm watching a movie or TV.
I love the official charging dock. I bought this along with the PSVR 2. When I’m done using the sense controllers I put them on the charging dock and it clicks right away at least for me.
I have this, and it works great for me.
I preordered the Creative Minds charging station ($30 US). Because of demand, it won't ship until Mar. 29th. The one you have looks awesome!🤗 I bet they're both a better deal than the Sony one.
Great video! Is there an easy way to charge your headphones too using the stand?
There are USB-A and USB-C ports on the back of the charger, I used the USB-C to power the charger itself, the USB-A one can probably be used to charge your headphones!
I dont see any problem with this charger, how many times you connect and disconnect your controller?
Not sure about your suggested alternative but you're absolutely correct about the Sony one being junk. I experienced the same two problems, hard to locate them correctly and a lack of LED showing you what's going on.
I've been using the magnetic inserts and cables with all PS controllers, headsets, and accessories since I got the PS4 Pro years ago. Kinda a let down that the "official" chargers are using the same tech. Definitely kept me from buying it. This all-in-one stand looks pretty slick though. Thanks for making a non-sponsored vid!
🤣
@@MetalDeathHead Exactly.
I own the official charger and never had a problem with it. Just need to check the lights are on. Only thing I'd change is have the L.E.D's brighter 🙂
i know this is off topic, but how do i use my ps5 cam and capture both gameplay and video cam? i just got my ps5 and psvr 2 because of no more freaking good aaa games on the pc front these days😅
I'll have to dive into that I used my external camera to record some gameplay footage yesterday
@@DiscoVRTetiana ahh i see.. i was hoping they finaly made it easy to capture gameplay with videocam overlay in there software, but noooo😅
cant find any videos on the net about it:( i have seen gamertag and others done it, but i could not even see an option adding the ps5 cam to the game capture..you are doing great content by the way! regards from norway:)
I'm curious, if you put the stronger magnetic pieces from the 3rd party charging station in your controllers, do the controllers lock in better on the official charging station?
Third party tips may have slightly different designs and shapes, I doubt you’ll be able to find one that’ll fit the official charger perfectly
It looks like a frog staring at me. They def went for form over function.
For the new charger stand is it possible to charge the 3D Pulse headset via usb C?
Thanks for this info, just ordered mine also on amazon! Looks beautiful this stand, but you are even more beautiful!!!
I feel like it should have magnets near the ports so that it sticks in and gives you the feedback that "it's plugged", as well as the lights should say on at all times to indicate power lvl.
I think mine does, but it's just not that strong.
Does it come with the motion controllers or not?
So the third party stand wasn’t charging them fully
My glasses scratched up the PSVR 2 lenses already
I havent had issue with original charger , though i do think it would be good to have lights fitted so you know they are charging
I've had no issues with lining them up just put them in trigger side 1st and the chargers will line up themselves
I like your JellyFish tank in the Background ...lol
Seems they've gone too minimalist on the official charger. Kinda weird, since the design of the PS5 itself is like the opposite of that.
But that's the way it is with the original accessories (replaceable covers, bases, etc. )
The fact that someone would rather buy an ugly circus charger with ten diodes is not a necessity but a matter of taste.
Thanks alot for the link I order now ❤
I have the same issue , I was going to make a video about it , but you made a far better job explaining 👍 it . It is kinda shocking that this was made by Sony .We expect better 😌 from Sony , come on Sony !
I know right? I was just as surprised!
I think they went a little for style over function on this one. For the money they could have just gone for a stronger magnet.
Some people love accessories, If they make a sony toilet seat massager, they'll buy it.
@@DiscoVRTetiana yup, they really should've product tested that design longer for ease of use and design flaws/improvements.
Thanks for your honesty.
I has cancelled pre-ordered charger, I'm lucky!
Don't see any issue here, just a 5 sec extra check would help to get full battery next day.
I use if a d never had this problem.
so sorry totally off topic but can u please send me link for ur squid lamp please ? it looks epic !!!
check my description at the bottom! :)
@@DiscoVRTetiana legend thanks !!!!👍
How tall is it with the headset on? I dont think that will fit in my Ikea Kallax Shelf.
Hey thanks! Ordering one of these now!
There is another problem.. when my controllers die i need to connect them for few seconds on a cable first and then on the charging station because if not, you don't see the pulsing light and I think they don't charge at all ...
What is the led psvr2 headset stand she’s using in the background
I love it! It's easy to place them in the correct position after getting used to it acouple times. Just make sure you see the lights blink when you put them in so you know they are charging, then when the lights are off you know they are fully charged. I think the charger is small, sleek and beautiful!
Really great review. One little thing. DIScharged is a VERY different word to UNcharged, which is what you actually meant. Have a good one!
I still like it. I guess Sony were going for synergy with the headset. Both have a Sweet Spot!
I just purchased this stand thanks to your review. Thanks for the great video😊
Yay! You’re very welcome!
@@DiscoVRTetiana what is your accent?
Hmmm, criticism with a direct reference to a third-party manufacturer? Sounds a bit like an advertising contract. I've just tried it again myself to see if I'm a bit awkward. Put the Sense Controller in, you hear it click briefly and the charge indicator on the Sense Controller starts pulsing. Incidentally, the operating instructions also state that the pulsating light goes out as soon as the controllers are fully charged. Greetings

If anything, I explicitly emphasized that this video is NOT sponsored (both in the video and in the description). Not all product shown in videos is paid promotion, I spent my own money on this charger and I thought it was good to share with my viewers. It's ok if someone doesn't like it though! Cheers!
@@DiscoVRTetiana The video title just sounds very lurid. That's why it can give such an impression. I like it when the charging light is minimalistic and when the devices are full, nothing is flashing, it's just off.
Thank god I didn’t but this accessory. It was out of stock from the website I ordered my PSVR 2 at least :)
That jellyfish aquarium, I need that in my life
Thanks for this video. I was on fence about getting the Sony charger. Now I know I won't buy it and I will buy the version you have.
Glad I could help!
Absolutely spot on, I have been fiddling around trying to place them correctly for charging.
Can't believe that costs $50. I bought a third party one from a brand called Mes Merry from Amazon and I hate it I can't get it to charge both controllers at the same time even though it says it can and it seems other people having issues and someone even posted a video showing the issue. Would like to buy the one you recommend but it is saying to me that it'd arrive march 7-8, not gonna wait that long.
I agree I hate this thing. Its annoying to put the controllers back.
Great review Tatiana! I love the details you reveal about real world use.
I honestly don't see what the problem is. I've had mine since the day it dropped and I didn't have an issue. It's no different than any other charger that I've had. It was just a matter of finding the sweet spot, and that wasn't all that complicated.
Yeah.. thanks for the confirmation..I wasted £40 on the official charger…I have already ordered a headset display/charger…not the one you are showing..hopefully I can offload the redundant charger on eBay..good content thanks 💪🏻
I need a charging Station for two Controllers, two vr2 Controllers, one PS. 3d pulse headphone and Vr2 Headset tray then everything is correct and the best for your charging Station would be inductive charging like Qi for mobile phones thumps up 😁 P.s. can you take a Look through the charging Station freaky owl
