Can't imagine out of warranty and bad maintenance. Have an 07 zx10r that was tracked, rebuilt title, and currently at 30k miles. Not one issue in 10 years other than tires and battery. Now I'm rethinking getting a S1k

Japanese reliability is simply unbeatable. I really want the S1000rr, but the amount of complaints i've heard about the S1000rr (aswell as blown motor videos) has me wanting an R1 instead, even if it is a little slower.

@SuperAdventureR1301 every motorcycle brand has breakdowns. Bmws just need regular maintainance and after getting the common issue fixed at the start it will be OK for the rest of its life span

sorry your having issues mate, I bought the same bike recently, rode it 3 times in the last 3 weeks, due to weather being poring the uk .... when I have ridden it I'm finding the clutch is awful, feels like its warn out, snags, then lets out all of a sudden, making me stall it sometimes .. plus the quick shift goes up but not down too. I'm very experienced rider so I know what im doing. yesterday decided to rid to the local BMW showroom, try the sat nav etc ... sat nav is crap, still saying turn left down my street 10 miles later ... every time I stopped it started refreshing to my current location. so very poor. Gets to BMW, the people in there didn't know how to work the sat nav 😆😆 and said come back another day when Chris is in lol ...... anyway Ive booked it in to be reviewed, they cant see the bike until end of September, the season will be over by then, so I cant help but feel disappointed with the BMW, after having many Japanese bikes, the German supposedly better engineering, quite simply isnt ,.......

Just watched you S1000RR video, I purchased my S1000RR in May 2021, I had my first trip booked with my mates to visit Europe, 48hrs before the ferry was due to leaveI also had a warning light, BMW had. The bike back, ordered a new part for the air box and I collected it 14 hrs before I was due to go. Left the UK and traveled through France, day two , the engine failed , I had more oil on the outside of the bike than in the engine. BMW European assist were hopeless. Fortunately we have a support van that got me back to the UK. I refused to have the bike back and eventually BMW agreed a new bike. The new bike was run in by BMW all the extra parts were swapped over and my next European trip was due two weeks later, and after one week I had the same warning sign, they replaced that part and I managed to do the trip without any issues. Two days after returning back I decided to clean the bike and noticed the cush drive rubber had 12mm play in it, BMW then collected the bike and replaced the cush drive rubbers , took the bike out the following weekend, covered 140 miles . Cleaned the bike again and couldn’t believe The cush drive rubber had 6mm play already…. So, the bike has been sold back to BMW, one thing I will say, the dealer was brilliant and just as embarrassed as I was fed up.

I totally feel your disappointment, frustration and anger, bought a brand new rsv4 factory, have the problem that the bike hits 7000rpm-9000rpm and it cuts off engine and dies but the feeling is quite scary as cars are right behind you, brought it twice and never have found issue it has 1500km, I did my research and found several things to pass on to the dealer like you said at that price range those type of problems should not a rise and should be treated as important, the customer service in all walks of life has drastically fallen. I am calling to make another appointment to try to fix the issue and stuck in same situation dealer is at a 4 hour drive. When a tire pressure sensor goes off line, it activates fail safes for the vehicle, specifically high-performance bikes/cars. I had a rear left tire pressure sensor die on my Corvette C7 grand sport. When taking a curve above 70 mph, the right rear brake would apply pressure and cause a jerking motion. Was very annoying. Apparently the traction control was trying to stay synchronized and believed that the left tire was flat. My car has a brake control module that the brake fluid passes through. An electric servo applies separate and different brake pressures to each wheel for the traction control.

Some of the bikes do have electrical gremlins but most don’t. I understand the frustration. It will all get sorted and if not you’ll get a new bike. My 2020 has basically been flawless with the exception of 2 coils went out basically around the same time just recently at around 7500 miles. Everything was replaced under warranty and done in a timely manner. Some dealers are better then others when it comes to customer service. Not sure if your break in miles are done yet but once you get that done, put a full exhaust and flash the ecu the bike is a absolute joy to ride. Don’t worry good times are a coming. BMW failing in the motorbike sector due to competition so they may have lost engineers and R&D talent to others who are fighting the market making new products. BMW simply either sells their bike to enthusiasts who do track day or the police and medical sectors because its bloody expensive bike. Your average commuter who covers average 30-80 miles daily wont bother with a BMW unless they go track day once or twice a month. BMW isnt a daily bike because i never seen anyone use their sport bikes as a daily horse and only rarely see their tourers being ridden for a weekend trip down wales or Scotland.

Aprilia makes terrible motorcycles. I’ve had three RSV4s, two street bikes and one track bike. Aprilia has gotten plenty of money from me over the years. I fell in love with the handling and engine. However, they do not last and are piles of junk and the customer service is complete garbage.
I’ve had two S1000RRs. Phenomenal. No problems. That’s not discounting your issues, but BMW is an actual company, with real representation and proper dealer network, unlike Aprilia’s piece of trash network and complete lack of customer service. Having said that, I’m sure your issues will be resolved by BMW directly or through the dealer.

I ordered my bike through Rallye Motoplex here in Canada. The worst dealer there is for service. As soon as you take delivery of the bike, you feel that the salespeople are slowly backing up out of sight; you can tell the service guys don’t care. This dealer has no respect for its customers, and it’s yours now, so it’s your problem mentality (which is an issue because they are the only f***king BMW dealer). I could write another 5K words here complaining, but I will simplify with my last exchange. The bike went in for a valve adjustment. It came back with a leaky head gasket. The second time it was returned running on three cylinders with a check engine light on. 3rd time I did it myself because I honestly thought it was coming back without a motor, lol. Each time it took 2-4 weeks because they are located far away, and they have to come to pick it up every time, which I am charged for as well. I know they don’t test ride or check the bike over because the LoJack on my bike never says it moves when it gets there. Honestly, i would avoid this place like the plague.

The lower fairing clip design at front of chin area is garbage. To separate the two halfs for oil change without the side which clip slides into without snapping off is nearly impossible. I know exactly how they attach. How to properly disconnect the slip together clip. Replacements are 370-390 per side. This is why so many are buying a single piece carbon fiber belly pan for $900.00. My salesman couldn’t use menu to pair Bluetooth communicator to my Cardo black for ride home. Foothills triumph BMW in Denver Colorado salespeople aren’t trained in the least.
