    The 2021 BMW S1000rr has been a DREAM bike to own! I know some people seem to have common problems on their bmw s1000rr, but so far, I haven't had any issues. Other than the strange cold start and that ridiculous factory motorcycle tune they ship the bike with... Yes, I'm getting a brentune stage 1... It's decided. Only because the s1000rr sounds like it wants to die when starting. And with the weather starting to cool down, the cold start is even worse. lol. But at least I'm not on here searching how to winterize a motorcycle! We'll be riding all year long once again! I'm super excited to see how many people locally have put deposits down on the 2022 s1000rr at Euro Cycles. In fact, lots of people are switching from their Aprilia to go with the BMW s1000rr. Shocker there, huh? I'm convinced, nothing else beats this bike overall. It's just a great machine!

    The cold start is the Cat warm up phase for emissions, gets the cat hot quickly by adding more fuel and ignition advance so the exhaust gasses are hotter. Cars do it too…

    Great 6000m review mate you picked up on heaps of little things that only someone who rides day in and out and knows their bike would notice. We have our own master mechanic (head of BMW AU SBK racing team) who provides our tunes so I can only comment on that but a lot of the smaller problems are gone + lots of extra things to be happy about. We never had the flat spot on our models but even so the tune is still highly recommended

      Thanks! After the brentune, I felt a huge difference in the bike and even happier than I was before! I'm a little over 8,000 miles now, but the bike is actually in the shop for some issues I started having. I'll be covering that in a video later this week.

    Try putting your hand over the muffler for the first 30 sec at the cold start and will start and idle better. 😉

    Great review thanks. I have mine since January 2021. 4,773km (2,965 miles) on it now. Great bike. I don't have the tuning issues as I live in Ireland. That dark screen seems really dark - perhaps its just the camera but I prefer my original clear screen as I like to know what's directly in front of me.

    • @SethMichael
      @SethMichael  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Rodger! I'm hoping to have the tuning issues fixed within the next week. I'm super excited to feel the difference!
      It definitely looks darker in the video. It is quite dark still, but I'm still able to see through it at a full tuck. Not that my bike sits in the sun a whole lot, I like to think that the darker shield helps protect the screen a bit.

    Great video Seth I've just purchased my 2022 BMW S1000RR M sport here in the UK just waiting on data to flow through to the insurance companies - really looking forward to getting my hands on mine within the next week. Been watching endless video's like yours getting the heads up what the BMW is like to ride,own,service and upgrades for me all looking really good. For now upgrade's will only be cosmetic adding carbon fibre body panels( the black plastic panels) replacing the rear sets to the BMW M one's shit like that. Tuning and exhaust upgrades will have to wait due to the 36 month warranty but I will have a conversation with my local dealership about that. Thanks for the upload Merry Christmas ride safe Seth 😉👍

    I’ve got the 2020 M-Sport. Fortunately the Australian bike is the same spec as the European so we don’t have that horrific dead spot in the power band. However, cold starts are embarrassing and it’s not unusual for the bike to die 2-3 times before eventually catching. I’m taking it to the dealer on Friday for the firmware update so we’ll see if that helps. Other than that, I love the bike. I have the TST Industries tail lights and tail tidy, as well as the Rizoma Stealth Mirrors and Leggera indicators and almost everyone comments on them whenever I stop anywhere. Every other K67 owner who sees the Stealth mirrors says they want to get them.

    • @SethMichael
      @SethMichael  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lucky! They ruined the US stock tune. 🤦‍♂️ lol. I'd be curious to hear if the firmware update fixes the embarrassing cold start for you vs going with a full tune though. Those Stealth mirrors looks sooo sick! The main reason I haven't tried them though is because I use my mirrors a lot and they seem kind of small. What are your thoughts on the usability of them? or do you typically ride with them flipped down?

    All USA bikes are restricted, most all are on the top end. BMW restricted it around the middle. Every USA bike these days needs an ECU flash if you want all the performance out of it. BMW offers an TOM that's helps the dead spot but take a good 20 hp off the top end. Better off with Bren tune stage 1.

  • @BlazinSpeed

    I am on the fence over purchasing s1000rr for 2022. Sounds like the bike is not really a complete package how is BMW struggling with this bike after 14 years of production. Better bike and value RSV4 $19k no power band issues stock, no tune needed & slap the full Akra on $2k 217bhp and $6-$12k in your pocket left after purchasing compared to the S1000rr. I pulled up next to S1000rr first I thought what bike is that all black 2021 I couldn’t figure out what bike it was for a minute had zero road presence. The old generation is a better bang for buck. Just my opinion nice job on your M pack & video much appreciated.

    • @SethMichael
      @SethMichael  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I really like the rsv4, but for the type of riding I do most, the s1000rr just made more sense. The Aprilia absolutely kills it out of the box though! Such a fun bike to ride! The s1000rr is just more comfortable and worthy of longer trips/street riding. And with the M colors, it pops. But you're right, with the standard colors, it does kind of just blend in with the rest unfortunately. Sucks that we have to put a bunch of extra money into something just to make it what it should already be.

    Have just under 13k on my 2021. If you're having that backfire through the intake and hard starts, get your coils tested. Mine failed while riding down the highway. Immediately dropped 2 cylinders and got a red serious engine fault. Due to failing coils it allowed the cylinders to fill and dump fuel which clogged the catalytic converter and fouled the sensors as well. So bmw had to replace sensors, coils, and they managed to clean the cat so didn't replace the exhaust that they originally expected to. Great bike, but its is European, so you get what you get as far as reliability of electronics.

    • @hkpr-ro6ui
      @hkpr-ro6ui 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really, you're questioning European electronics reliability? Space age compared to Harleys et al.

      @@hkpr-ro6ui yes. And I dont like Harley's either, don't know where you got that. Japanese bikes and cars are statistically more reliable. Its been proven time and time again. And I agree Harley's are trash and just an expensive boy scouts badge you can ride when it isn't broken.

    • @hkpr-ro6ui
      @hkpr-ro6ui 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ASMODAY1K Yes, I don't dispute superior Japanese reliability, with cars too. I thought you are American so assumed your comment was comparing to US bikes, and you were specific about electronics reliability which puzzled me why you were generalising on European electronics. I own a BMW S1000R, Triumph Speed Triple 1050 and a Triumph Thunderbird and they've been faultless, although my brother's Ducati Monster was a nightmare.

    Hey bro just wanted to give you some constructive feedback…
    Overall you just didn’t sound confident and were very unsure of yourself. Avoid words like “i think, or i believe”… Just say what you’re trying to say with confidence.
    It would make for better reviews; i would also plan ahead about what you’re trying to say before you actually say it. • @SethMichael
      @SethMichael  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Both great bikes! The deciding factor for me was that I do a lot of street/casual riding. The V4s is a straight up race bike so isn't very comfortable for typical street use. Where as the S1000rr is a great mixture of both. Very comfortable yet all the power you'd need. With that said, the V4s is a monster and a blast to ride though! Just a bit more aggressive riding position and throws more engine heat on your legs when you're not moving fast.
