Pink Floyd were the greatest band inside the 1970s. Zeppelin were great collage artist's but pink Floyd reached a state of Nirvana that zeppelin could never. But zeppelin were good. They 'pieced together' great songs. 👍🏻💯

@ Robert Worth I saw Zep live at Chicago Stadium, Jan. 1975 and I was doing MDA at the concert. It really was a trip especially when someone tore the door off it's hinges and a mass of humanity poured inside the Stadium like a stampede of buffalo lol Great times! :-)
This is LED ZEPPELIN, in their very best. Performing a work of art, where music is concerned! They were giants, megastars, glistening stars, the sun and the moon! For me, they were more than I ever can say...
always love the galloping bass from jones... it makes the drums feel even more powerful and urgent than they already are... i could imagine a army marching towards its last battle with this easily... not just because of the title, but the feel of the instruments. if it were an untitled song,i'd still imagine battle being waged with this playing in the backround... Long story short, fucking sick song, iconic in every way
Get along how do u define greatness! They both were great period!! For u to say Hendrix sucks makes u sound like a complete and UTTER Moron!!! Can I get a witness
I envy anyone that even saw Zeppelin play in concert. It must've been something else to witness such awesomeness!!!! I'm 44, fell in love with the band when I was 17. What a band!
I got to see them live only once. Best concert I ever saw. The energy and power radiating off those guys was incredible. They were and always will be the best band ever.
***** I was 17 when John B. died and I was only 14 in 1977. I probably didn't even know who Led Zeppelin was in 77 and only started to enjoy them in my 20's. Sometimes I despise Robert Plant but there can be no denying that Led Zeppelin was a phenomenal band. These guys deserve to be called Legends. They were truly the Kings of Rock or at least Hard Rock. And Plant can barely even sing now. He's lost all of his gifts and his looks. Time is a thief. Look at what Plant and Page look like today and you really have to go back and give those guys their due because now they're just old men.
This is one of my favorite Zeppelin songs. The whole song just never lets up!! And as awesome as Page is, John Bonham's drumming is something that NO ONE could ever repeat!!
And if you've ever held one of those Les Pauls, you know they're awkward beasts to sling around... heavy and not the most ergonomic ever*. Jimmy makes it look light as a feather. *as you can see from my profile pic, I'm a Strat player so I'm a little biased ::)
best group ever. period.... no one compares no one is close. yes we all know all the mystic behind them and most their music. regardless to that zeppelin put into motion things that have still not be done since. all 4 played their parts perfectly.
...the importance of John Bonham was never more evident here...especially on this song. Could you (if you were in the potential line-up of replacement drummers) ever imagine the fear and intimidation you would have in your stomach pit in the event you were to ever audition for these guys after John's passing? I'm not entirely sure that anyone could've ever replaced him...
I was there, absolutely amazing!!! So glad I saw them, some of my friends said they would catch them next time they came to LA, which beyond sadly never happened, RIP The Mighty Bonzo!!!
Wish I was there... i guess i was about 4 years behind in the scheme of things...bought tickets to Chicago 1980, then if it weren't for bad luck , would have no luck at all
same thing happened to me, my tickets would have been for the Maryland Landover show. We were all in school when the news came out, we were stunned, in disbelief, and totally sad. It was our moment, you remember what you were doing exactly when I heard that awful news:(
And that is an 8-string bass - JPJ was and is an amazing musician. Zeppelin would have never been Zeppelin without him. He was just as indispensable as Bonzo.
Did it take half as long with 2 drummers playing it?:):):):) The Song Remains The Same LP is one of the best live albums of all time, but Moby Dick is such as waste of half a side of it when they could have included Since I've Been Loving You instead (for example)...
OMG! How did they keep up that tempo? This is another one of their "underrated" performances of this song. IMHO, Led Zeppelin should be the first description of "incredible", in the English dictionary. We are blessed to hear them, throughout eternity.
There you are again angel....once again I completely agree with every word. It helps to have been raised in the great Era of 60's & 70's R&R music. Led Zep IS the Holy Grail, bible, or any other Authority when it comes to Genius. They just weren't afraid to take huge risks in Everything. My respect for them only grows,as I get older & am so bored with so much of what-ever they refer to as 'music' today. Everyone who was or is Anyone, learned from Led Zeppelin. Period..
Thanks well I wasnt a teen in the 70s but I love all the music of the 60s and the 70s I was born in 1970 so real didnt get too experience the whole beautiful music movement which was the 70 s or the earlier 60s which I know must have been fantastic aswell. My time was the 80s the early punk new wave and techno or computer beat music which then rolled into all the hair bands of the 80s. So it was alot of messed musics put together like pizza which was crazy back then. But when I first heard Led Zep I was in high school 18 at the time and this was when supposely metallica or alcohollica which ever name they prefered to call themselves at the tine this was when they were suppose to be the next big thing and just didnt quite get it done. But zep always grabbed me in each album and just blew me so far away. I never heard or even thought that a band like that could even exist or be real. They changed my ear in music forever. They were and in my opinion til this day still are the best. Thanks too them I learned more about and a greater appreciation for the music of the past like the 60s,70s and even further back. When music was real and alive and above all magical. Led inbodies all that beauty power and magic like no other band. Your right music today needs sone serious help.!!! I mean alot of help!!!! Theres very few bands if any now to have any promise aswell as all the other music genre in this time period. Todays music needs alot of work to be done! The music of the past speaks volumes over anything that ive heard now and led zep is the very top of the line cream of the crop you could go. I dont see anyone or band back then or now wrestling there crown away they are too me pure beautiful magic. Nothing even comes close. Just so powerful and beautiful at the same time. Like I said just pure Magic!!!!!! (:
angel ramon diaz I empathically connected to everything you said (and felt). Sorry you did not live Through those infamous times, point is...you got to appreciate the music of Led Zeppelin. I happen to believe they are the greatist groups(individually & collectively) of the 21st century(Jimmy Hendrix, in my opinion is in that category too). Sheer Magical Genius! I am open to all kinds of music, keep hoping to capture what I felt/feel towards Led Zep...I doubt magic/genius like that comes around too often. I know in 100 yrs.people will still be playing their music, teaching it in schools, etc. Powerful beyond measure & words....
Deborah Wagner- Tudor Not to burst your Zep bubble Deborah but Zep LEARNED plenty from those who preceded them. Matter of fact, if you listen to the first three albums, Zep took plenty from other musical bands, ideas, etc....They were not "holy" original. Start listening to bands like Yes and Genesis from that 70's period, more in the prog rock vein, and you will find even more imaginative and transcendent rock music than you thought possible.
Byron Gordon I agree with you there they learned from a lot of groups and influences previously rather blues or folk or old rock bands ranging from Robert Johnson, muddy waters, Jonnie Mitchell , Hendrix's , the doors etc. The list is huge. But through those influences they did developed there own style and way too play. Also they became these great sponges of musical knowledge. They could absorb from any band or musical artist or medium. Like genesis as you mentioned pink floyd Crosby still and Nash Stevie wonder fleet wood Mac etc. This list is long too of what musical they were able too absorb and capture!!!! But that's another reason why I think of them as the best and yet so magical!!!
These guys are the best. And make no mistake they are all equally responsible for making it the best. But thank God too for Jimmy's persistence for putting this band together and knowing from the first song they played together, it was perfection with the 4 of them.
I love the lyrics to ALS, so many layers, multifaceted - to my mind at least. And the musical arrangement goes without saying - superb and drives deep into the heart and into human psyche, it literally resonates.
This just shows what was once possible with four guys on stage, no cheating, just pure energy and devine talent! 😊🎉❤ Back when giants walked amomg us mere mortals.
The Mighty Led Zeppelin!!! I never got a chance to see them as I was 10 in 1977. I can only Imagine what the audience was experiencing, mind blowing performance.
When you love Led Zeppelin and someone says " Yea but have you heard ......" and then we just laugh , because there is nothing that can better these 4 legends .
...Oh the sweet refrain - that soothes the soul and calms the pain - Oh, Albion remain - sleeping now, to rise again. In wonderings and wanderings, one place to the rest the search - where the mighty arms of Atlas holds the heavens from the Earth... Robert Plant sure knew how to write lyrics !!!!
Thank u. I was 7 when this was goin down. Didn't get into them until 4 yrs later. So its special for me seeing what the shows were like from this ridiculous stellar band
The tour I was so incredibly lucky to see them on, in Cincinnati in April 1977, a sophomore in High School! Their energy on stage was contagious! 3 complete hours of bliss! No opening band. The lights went out at 8 pm, no announcements, and Jimmy danced his way out on stage with the opening lines of "The Song Remains The Same." Robert met him from the other side, dancing as well, and they banged into the song! The best concert of my life!!!
hands down the BEST song EVER! if this does shake you to your core and make u wanna rock out till the sun comes out than go away! two types of people in this world, followers and leaders...and we know where Led Zeppelin fits...GODS of Rock
***** . . . I really like hearing from you all who have seen them playing live while they were still the original 4. I did get to see Page and Plant at Knoxville, TN in the 90's, which was a treat. I'm definitely glad we can watch these earlier video's. Every album (and every single song) they produced was unquestionably a classic, their music is uplifting in a way that puts your mood in a positive spin.
+D C Saw them in April, 1977. two nights at Riverfront Coliseum. The best concert I've ever seen. Completely eclipses the Who show I saw in 1979, where I came close to losing my life. (I never want to go thru horror like that again)!

The best live version of the best song of the best band with some cracking footage to boot. 8:27 onward is the perfect section of raw, mind-bending power, coupled with Robert's amazing "ohhhhh"s starting at 9:06. Just phenomenal all round.

You can clearly hear the intensity & tension in the songs for sure, except for Tea For One. Robert Plant recorded all his parts while in a wheelchair.
JohnBindon
I did not realize Plant was still in a wheel chair. That make the album even more amazing. Thanks
That guy on the guitar looks and acts like a rock star!:)
You´re not telling me? Really!:)
+nimim. Marko Mikkilä Led Zeppelin were the original rockstars.
+nimim. Marko Mikkilä That's Jimmy Page!
Really:) I´m kidding in the first place:)
nimim. Marko Mikkilä
He was already in the Yardbirds and a session ace by the time he formed the mighty Zep! Haha :)
Best band ever.
PURE
ELECTRIC
MAGIC
Queen are the best band ever according to a worldwide poll !
JEEZ, Zeppelin are the G.O.A.T, there really is nothing else to say about them, its all been said.
Pink Floyd were the greatest band inside the 1970s. Zeppelin were great collage artist's but pink Floyd reached a state of Nirvana that zeppelin could never. But zeppelin were good. They 'pieced together' great songs. 👍🏻💯
@@The_whimsickal_artist "good" your seem to have your own bias to be honest
u just dont have bands or artists creating music like this any more. This song is so awesome. Thank you for posting it!
Saw this tour in Chicago three nights out of four page got sick the fourth night. I was 13 or 14 and I thought I had scene God the three hits of orange sunshine may have contributed to that part. I was a ticket scalper in High school so I had the best tickets to every show and went to every show I saw lots of great concerts but Zep. was my all time fav.I'm 52 now and still to this day I haven't seen a better concert April 8th -through the 11th 1977 three weeks before my 14th bday.
+Rob Allen Well your a brave guy doing acid and seeing themlive. I was pretty good with acid myself, but would never chance doing it and seeing Zep live...which I did 4 times but not on the acid lol TOooooooo much
@ Robert Worth I saw Zep live at Chicago Stadium, Jan. 1975 and I was doing MDA at the concert. It really was a trip especially when someone tore the door off it's hinges and a mass of humanity poured inside the Stadium like a stampede of buffalo lol Great times! :-)
Vanmyster94 lol...your a brave guy doing that and seeing Zep. Not me... maybe smoke a j but that's it.
Anyway Achilles...was written in '77
U were 12
This is LED ZEPPELIN, in their very best. Performing a work of art, where music is concerned! They were giants, megastars, glistening stars, the sun and the moon! For me, they were more than I ever can say...
They are Led Zeppelin. Absolutely best band of all time!!
always love the galloping bass from jones... it makes the drums feel even more powerful and urgent than they already are...
i could imagine a army marching towards its last battle with this easily... not just because of the title, but the feel of the instruments. if it were an untitled song,i'd still imagine battle being waged with this playing in the backround...
Long story short, fucking sick song, iconic in every way
DUDE! Yes! I have always imagined this very thing
It definitely has some urgency to it.
Jones also had a SPECIAL talent....
Drumming Magic ! No one can touch this
Música boa led Zeppelin em 1977 eu tinha 23 anos
Era bancário.
Jimmy Page - Greatest of All Time - nothing more needs to be said.
Steve M. O
Hendricks woulda been proud of Page here.
@@DeanLaprete Hendrix sucks
@@liams706 He doesn't suck... But he surely isn't better than Jimmy Page.
Being in the room, with them live, well that's the 4th Dimension of the experience.
I love the way you can hear someone in the crowd getting their mind blown away by Bonzo's fill at 6.30. Must've been fucking awesome to witness this.
I was there. Closing song of the 3-hour+ concert. Life changing. Still my favorite band by far. Bonham was a big cannon.
Oh what I would do to be there. But I'm only 17, so I never saw Zeppelin back in the day.
My life feels incomplete.
***** i'm 40 and i'm way too young to have seen them! 5 year old when Bonzo passed.
Did see Page&Plant at Reading though. Very lucky.
I always see you on Zeppelin stuff. I'm the same age so hopefully this year we might get to see page play live.
Guitar Tech I hope so too
***** I was 17 when John B. died and I was only 14 in 1977.
I know. I'm twelve.
Powerful performance!
Nothing compares...
Nice to see you here Juan 😊
Holy FUCK. Bonzo. No words.
He was the glue that held everything together for sure!!
Machine gun like...... Hail, hail, John Henry Bonham !
At 5:24 my face melted completely with Bonzo's fill that ends in 32s! He's absolutely on fire here
From 1:05 to the end, my friend! *Fuego*
This is one of my favorite Zeppelin songs. The whole song just never lets up!! And as awesome as Page is, John Bonham's drumming is something that NO ONE could ever repeat!!
Watch Page dancing. Man he is light on his feet and can dance while playing well
And if you've ever held one of those Les Pauls, you know they're awkward beasts to sling around... heavy and not the most ergonomic ever*. Jimmy makes it look light as a feather.
*as you can see from my profile pic, I'm a Strat player so I'm a little biased ::)
Had 4th night 77' at the Fabulous Forum. First ever concert, thnx for bringing this live gem 💎 to light
this performance is so insane oh my gosh!!
best group ever. period.... no one compares no one is close. yes we all know all the mystic behind them and most their music. regardless to that zeppelin put into motion things that have still not be done since. all 4 played their parts perfectly.
What a masterpiece!
Uuuffff...!!!!???
Minuto 5'25.
Qué hace ahí Bonzo..??!!!!
Ese redoble de tambor te vuela cabeza..
Puuuuff
presence is one of their finest for sure. and bonham is shredding it and making it look so easy.
This song is phenomenal but that album also has some real shit on it like Tea for One
The sound / tuning of Bonzo's kit... GOD-LIKE.
...the importance of John Bonham was never more evident here...especially on this song. Could you (if you were in the potential line-up of replacement drummers) ever imagine the fear and intimidation you would have in your stomach pit in the event you were to ever audition for these guys after John's passing? I'm not entirely sure that anyone could've ever replaced him...
Damm True , John Henry Bonham was maybe 50 % of the Sound of this GENIUS Band !
Long Live Led Zeppelin
the importance between bonham and Jones is incredible, they are base of the Band
His son Jason does a fine job of playing his father's lines.
Bonzo's son Jason has played with them a few times. Especially the Celebration Day reunion concert in 07. Bonzo would be proud.
luv basses that's why Robert plant wouldn't reform the band, no bonzo no BAND
Flippin spellbindingly awesome!!!!
This is the best band in the entire world!! So glad that I got to enjoy them in my life!!!
one of the best performance of zeppelin. this song sounds like gods with wings got together and played beautiful music.
It was our moment, you remember what you were doing exactly when I heard that awful news:(
This is great footage! Somebody really took their time and edited it properly. Its not all Jimmy. JPJ gives this song a total workout on bass guitar.
Hes the reason why the song has such a fucking good powerful bassline man
This song is heavy! They were so, so, so good! There will never be another.......
And that is an 8-string bass - JPJ was and is an amazing musician. Zeppelin would have never been Zeppelin without him. He was just as indispensable as Bonzo.
Wow, I'd never heard that before, but I did hear that Jimmy Page showed the song's scale to JPJ.
where'd you hear that? sure, Page wrote the song but I doubt he would presume to tell JPJ what to play.
Legendary Icons on every instrument. So beautiful
I was at that 1977 LA show. Same night Keith Moon came out and played Moby Dick. Awesome.
I love Moonie
Did it take half as long with 2 drummers playing it?:):):):) The Song Remains The Same LP is one of the best live albums of all time, but Moby Dick is such as waste of half a side of it when they could have included Since I've Been Loving You instead (for example)...
@@chrisdowell4268 they did include since i've been loving you
@@demolitionlover3443 not on the original 1976 they didn't.
OMG! How did they keep up that tempo? This is another one of their "underrated" performances of this song. IMHO, Led Zeppelin should be the first description of "incredible", in the English dictionary. We are blessed to hear them, throughout eternity.
2021 the best ever, how could we say no !
All the fun to have...
2024 now almost 25
The All-Around Greatest Band of All-Time.
But that's another reason why I think of them as the best and yet so magical!!!
angel ramon diaz Yeah Ive always been impressed that they played so many styles, most bands only have one sound.
Jimmy is like a gazelle prancing to the beat of a different drum! YOu GO Jimmy! Every other band can go blow!!
These guys are the best. And make no mistake they are all equally responsible for making it the best. But thank God too for Jimmy's persistence for putting this band together and knowing from the first song they played together, it was perfection with the 4 of them.
one of the hardest guitar riffs to play by a single guitarest
POPEYEUGUY 68 the studio version has three guitar tracks layered over it
POPEYEUGUY 68 It's not difficult actually, still this song has some of the best riffs ever.
Page is a one man guitar army
It's not difficult, but it's certainly not easy either.
But yeah, it is difficult in the sense of trying to condense 3 separate guitar tracks from the studio version into just 1 live.
It’s a crime to put an ad in the middle of any Led Zeppelin song
Dude if you don't have an adblocker, ask your kids to sort you out.
@@suncat5160 26 with no kids but I’ll try to look into it 🙏

This is the most intense piece of music I've ever heard
I love the lyrics to ALS, so many layers, multifaceted - to my mind at least. And the musical arrangement goes without saying - superb and drives deep into the heart and into human psyche, it literally resonates.
This just shows what was once possible with four guys on stage, no cheating, just pure energy and devine talent! 😊🎉❤ Back when giants walked amomg us mere mortals.
My absolute favorite Zeppelin song, and this performance is MAGICAL!
I was there as well and it was three hours of heavy mind rocking music as only
Led Zeppelin can do it! Nothing goes down like a Led Zeppelin!
That’s what made Zeppelin so great . They are all heavy hitters & top shelf musicians .
This is some great footage , thanks !
Cant. Stop. Watching. This. Video. True showmanship. So much energy behind the music. Unparalleled.
You have to remember. Page and Jones were professional not amateurs they didn’t start Zeppelin as a garage band after high school, Rock on 🤘
Simply the best
Bonzo you are deeply missed. One can only imagine if Zeppelin had continued into the 80s the songs they would've done.
This is MUSIC in its finest
I saw this tour in Birmingham forty-five years ago and it still remains the greatest concert I have ever seen. Nothing comes close.
Way ahead of their time man. These were the days, oh yeah...
The Mighty Led Zeppelin!!! I never got a chance to see them as I was 10 in 1977. I can only Imagine what the audience was experiencing, mind blowing performance.
Best drum lick EVER!
did everyone say "best band ever"? indeed!
When you love Led Zeppelin and someone says " Yea but have you heard ......" and then we just laugh , because there is nothing that can better these 4 legends .
Queen were voted the best band in history in a worldwide poll and no one will ever replace or equal Queen !
...Oh the sweet refrain - that soothes the soul and calms the pain - Oh, Albion remain - sleeping now, to rise again.
That version never ceases to amaze me, and I love how it's cut with video from the energetic shows not the sleepy show
The tour I was so incredibly lucky to see them on, in Cincinnati in April 1977, a sophomore in High School!
Happy birthday, Bonzo! Gone but not forgotten! Amazing drumming on ALS!
John Bonham is the definition of immortal.
Holy chunky Bass Batman!!!
Led Zeppelin Whole Lot Love & Achilles Last Stand Totally-Awesome song's !!!!
National anthem of rock.
I friggin love this song
I saw this very tour in 1977, in chicago.
Never forget it.
+D C Awesome
+D C Saw them in Seattle in 77. in 75 in Vancouver and in 1970 Montreal. I know what you mean.
(I never want to go thru horror like that again)!
i was up in the mezzanine at madison square garden at the saturday night performance in 73. maggie bell opened.. footage was used in their movie "the song remains the same". great show.
I was there !
Wow it's faster than the original... And yet it lasts 10 min as well...
the solo
Cocaine
The studio is a controlled environment. Any band live steps up the tempo. Nerves, drugs, etc. Zeppelin is no exception.
And page - as normal
😅 - is little bit out of tunning.
It's because speed rock was becoming increasingly popular and Mr. Page knew he had to keep up. Well, he did more than keep up. He led the way. lol
The best live version of the best song of the best band with some cracking footage to boot. 8:27 onward is the perfect section of raw, mind-bending power, coupled with Robert's amazing "ohhhhh"s starting at 9:06. Just phenomenal all round.
Bonzo's drum and Jimmy's guitar. Whoooaah...
JPJ absolutely crushing it in this
I agree. He played the bass just like he did on the original recording. It sounds so gritty and like he's using a pitch - delay FX box.
Bad Ass Band of all time seen them back 1977 at Los Angeles Forum the summer time which i well never forget this concert love Led Zeppelin
Was there back 1977 summer time hell of Concert Page and Plant Zeppelin forever
That might very well be the most fan -fuckin-tastic most kick ass hardest rock performance by this band ever , or any band ,holy god almighty, best of the best that has ever been
The DVDS of How the West was won and The Song Remains the Same are fantastic . You can see and hear the progresstion of their playing and writing.
