It's a simple story conclusion that i think most people have overlooked - You are loading the game to build, nothing more, nothing less, that ship was never designed to have you sit onboard it, because why would you, your entire goal in this game is to build and help the human race chase after more planets, this is actually an extremely realistic approach to how we would actually colonize the stars, the game never actually promised you anything, only that your work, would help the human race .... well, it did, who cares about the space craft, that craft is off to another world to get it colonized, however, you're standing on a planet that still NEEDS to be colonized, you've just bumped the production up to a stablized level, yeah sure, your character will more than likely die alone on the planet, but the explorers, the ones they will send in the thousands into the stars, will be able to look at star chart data to know which planets we previously built upon, which ones were a success, and which ones were a failure, if it was a success, chances are, that planet, is habitable for those humans. But bare inmind, even if you did get onboard the ship, what would happen? .... yeah, you land on another planet, and start the process all over again. Its actually a kindness and a service to keep you on the planet, you've done your part, now its upto you what you do next, in this partcular case, working for FICSIT, to build, expand and make the planet more freidnly and less hostile. My conclusive thought at the end of this story wasn't "why didn't i go with them" it was, Yay!! i did the thing! .... lets get back to crafting! I play RCT, planet zoo, core keeper, factorio the anno franchise, im never expecting an end game reward, because the gameplay loop is reward in of itself, when im done with the story, my new adventure begins, which is normally playing a modded version.
Then again, all we really know about the situation is what ADA told us, and there is definitely a corporate propaganda spin to everything she says. Well, I already had very little interest in completing phase 5 since you apparently didn’t get anything, now adding this empty ending my interest in phase 5 disappeared completely
@400thekiller233 what I'm saying is, if you care, the game isn't made for you. Not all games are made for everyone. A good story isn't what would make a person who doesn't like factory games suddenly interested in them. The whole point of the game is to make a factory to make a better factory and do it until you get bored or accomplish a goal. The story is there to give you a goal from the developers, that's all.
what a bad ending. All that hard work to see a ship go through some sort of hyper space . It's not really worth it story wise but thats not what the game is about i suppose, it's about making a factory and getting satisfaction out of the process. This has helped me realise what the devs want for this game and its not a super in-depth and interesting story, which is what i was hoping for as there is a lot of potential for a great story here. Despite this I respect the devs decision and will definetly continue playing this as it is definitely so addicting and one of the most stunning looking games out there.
Seriously, wtf? I haven't even been able to play 1.0 yet. Got on TH-cam to relax before getting ready for bed and this is the first thing that pops up. I'm just blocking this channel if they think this is okay to do to people.
Not exactly, you are basically another cog in the humanity colonisation process, you did your part, stablished a self sufficient factory on the planet and helped reach the next planet, now you are free to do whatever you want while humanity keep reaching other planets repeating the same process, kinda what you could expect from a construction game, no glorious purpose, just another part of eternal expansion of planetary factories
That’s it? That’s the ending? No resolution to the Mercer Spheres, no explanation on how this saves the day, you literally just build a rocket and win this is as much a “story” as Factorio has
