      After having grown-UP, using 1911's and all KINDS of other European semi-autos, from Lugers to P-38's to Spanish Astras to the Swedish Lahti, I finally got to use a Browning-brand P35 in the mid-70's, and was freaked-out to note that, essentially, "you could not miss!" With the updated, extended-beaver, ambi-safeties, and DISCONNECTED magazine safety, for an improved trigger-stroke, on the OPs version, and the updated 15-round mags, this is a welcome addition, out-there.
      After years of people improving-upon the 1911, with very few improved P-35 variants that didn't cost as much as a decent, second-hand CAR, these will be selling like hotcakes. Don't be put-off by their being made in Turkey. SO-are some of the major components of the ones from Springfield Armory. Mossberg has shotguns made in Turkey. H&K factory tooling is used for Turkish semi-auto imitations of the MP5, only these have better trigger-strokes than an H&K one. Hmm.

    I really like how Girsan took the Hi Power and made subtle changes to make it more modern and comfortable to shoot. The new FN “High”, yes “High” Power isn’t retro or modern.. it’s actually nothing like a Hi Power in design. It just sort of resembles a Hi Power but is more of a single action Ruger P89 for $1k.

    ... I bought a MC P-35 earlier this year, it is a faithful copy of my Browning Hi-Power MK III, I switched out the grips for a set of Houge rubber grips, it feels better in my hand. Also, the P-35 pistols were made in a time that no one gave a crap about trigger resets ...

    My all-time favorite gun. This was my unicorn for the longest time. I've never been willing to drill holes into one of my brownings to work out a way to add a rail so I was very glad to get my hands on an Ops last week, (- the reflex sight.) Next on my list is the one with the reflex sight, and then they have a short version that is as close as one can get to a Belhert special I imagine. I bought my 1st high power from Austin Belhert way back in the day. Unfortunately he passed away in 2005 and I never managed to get a Belhert special. For those who don't know that was a Hi-power That Austin would shorten for easier concealed carry.

    When I received my Girsan Hi-Power I noticed a very hard trigger pull. I did not like that so I purchased the Cylinder & Slide trigger pull reduction spring kit. It's just two springs; hammer and firing pin for $12. I am familiar with the B&H optimized spring kit and I have replaced all of the springs on my FN Mark 3 but in this case the two springs were adequate and it worked out fine. I do recommend the BH spring tool for the hammer spring because it is a bear to disassemble. As for the third hand tool, that can be managed with a zip tie. I had the same experience with the pistol shooting to the left of the target but strangely, after a couple of hundred rounds the point of impact moved on target at fifteen yards. WOW! I'm a big fan of the 1911 and the Hi-Power. Nothing beats them for their shoot-ability and simplicity of design. The men of FN are imbeciles for discontinuing production of the Mark 3. We all had to suffer the plastic gun phase and learn our lessons.

    Picked up a black MCP35 a few months ago at a local fun show for $455 out the door.
    Shot a couple mags and it was a accurate at 15 yards.
    Broke it down and removed the magazine disconnect and the trigger pull dropped down to 6# from #8-1/2.
    Also gets rid of that crunchy feeling during take-up.
    Next polished the trigger to sear transfer bar and the contact points at both ends . No real stock removal, just rid it if tools marks and polished with a felt bob and jewelers rouge.
    That for the trigger down to 5-1/2#.
    Changed the grips out for G10 grips with better texture.
    With the improved trigger pull and the addition of Meprolight night sights, it holds consistent 15 yards groups around 1-1/4" shooting off hand.
    Zero malfunctions sofar after 300+ rounds.
    When it was all broken down the quality of the machine work and I ternal finish was very good.
    FYI. Night sights made for the BHP Marklll for perfectly in the dovetails.
    I wouldn't hesitate but another one.

    The FN/Browning Hi Powers are exactly the same as far as trigger and reset. It's indecipherable and the curved trigger is too curved. This is one platform that hasn't lived up to all the hype for me. It's almost like the grip is TOO small and the pistol is too slim. It also has signficatly more muzzle flip than many other 9mm service pistols I've shot back to back. Great video, thanks!

  • @danielhenderson8316

    I had a P35 Ops model that I recently sold. The pros of it was it was the Hi Power I always wanted, but didn't want to pay $3,000 for a worked over relic. The beavertail was perfect and the fit and finish was better than most Kimber and Springfield 1911s at almost half the price and was still cerakoted instead of crappy matte bluing or black oxide. I ended up selling it because my hand was a little too big for the gun and while the trigger was "upgraded," it still felt like a 6# trigger and wasn't going to lighten up.
    However, it is a damn good base gun and Mark III Firearms should be able to upgrade it for much less than the base model.

  • @pavegray
    @pavegray 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Admire the Browning Hi-Power. Would like to have a copy.
    Could go Springfield for their variant.
    However, as long as magazine capability and thus capacity is retained, for a Turkish gun, 500-700ish, with modern upgrades, is not unreasonable in today's market (sad to say) - thanks inflation!
    At least we are defiling a Belgian\European gun (primarily but John Browning was American) and not an American adopted, classic firearm.
    If it works, it works.

  • @BossHog007
    @BossHog007 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think both would make great base guns to do trigger jobs or project guns. For years and years, a BHP with a beaver tail has been something of an elusive, premium, custom option that has either priced a lot of folks out or was simply too much of a headache for many to handle. Add in the fact that for many of those years, finding a BHP worth its salt to dump that much money into was not the easiest task either. Factory new options were few and far between, or at some times entirely non existent. At the price point they’re offering the Ops model, I think it makes an amazing option for someone wanting that custom look straight from the factory. BHP triggers have never been known to live up to that of their 1911 cousins - it’s a completely different mechanical setup after all that comes with its own unique quirks. But just like a 1911, a BHP can be worked into an absolute tack driver of a gun. After all, FBI HRT was known to use the BHP before any of this 2011 stuff became all the rage. Dare I say the BHP was the “2011 before we had 2011’s”.

    I doubt that very many people have heard of or seen an Arcus 94 but once upon a time I owned one. It was the first 9mm I ever owned or fired. Took it to the range and to be honest, I had no idea what I was doing. But somehow I managed to line the sights up right and was putting rounds on top of rounds. It was stolen years ago, I’ve owned other 9mm since then but I’ve never had one as accurate as that one. It was a hi power clone. For whatever reason gun companies stopped making hi owner clones until lately. I plan on getting one of these to see if that was a fluke or if a metal framed hi power clone is really that accurate. I’ve some training over the years so now I’ve got a pretty good idea what it takes.

      Its easier if you remove the whole trigger first. The trigger pin in the Girsan is pressed in pretty tight but will come out with a few strikes of a hammer and correctly sized punch from right to left. There is a crimp at the end pf the pin so just remember when reinstalling it that the crimped end will be on the left side of the gun.
