Would love to see some natural timber in there, like Tasmanian Oak. Plus the smell of timber in a small space is just so beautiful. I also like the other comments about the self leveling cement, I think you can add a colour pigment to it as well. Maybe something to do down the track. Great work so far xx
Fresh paint makes everything nicer, brighter and yes cleaner! Some throw cushions on your bench seat and a cute ruffled curtain on the half window... you've created a really lovely canvas to build from 😊
It could look really cool to play around with the ceiling more by creating a tartan/check like effect by painting the wooden cross beams alternating colours within the pink/terracotta family too :) Love how much more unique spaces are when something truly custom is done with ceilings these days! Looking super lovely overall :)
I think you should paint the individual bricks of the bench seat those darker shades of terracottas you showed us in the beginning. 😊 Would be so pretty!
That was a lot of work!!! I love everything so far and working with cement or concrete surfaces is not easy! To close the gaps between the walls and floor ,you can put up skirting boards. That will round the space of beautifully. But silicone works really well too. It just finishes everything off really well.
Janelle, I am obsessed with your sewing space makeover! I love the colors you're choosing and the brickwork you did came out so well. Can't wait for Part 3!!
Thank you so much! I sometimes feel like I’m not getting anywhere with it but then I see footage of what it was like and I’m proud of all the work I’ve done to get it to what it is now
Probably too late, but there is a self leveling product for cement floors, I think it's called Level Quick. Mix it up, pour on floor and repeat until the floor is done. It hardens up nice, but it's kinda pricey. At least your space is small.
Your room is going to be really lovely. When painting metal you shouldn’t use a water based paint as it will carryon rusting, look in to a metal rust paint. 🎨😊
I'm loving watching it all come together. It'll be so satisfying to have your dream work space finally finished. You said you'll have a carpet down there so perhaps this isn't necessary but I just wanted to recommend getting a standing mat for your cutting table where you'll be spreading loads of time on your feet. I worked in a space with concrete floors and didn't even think about that and now I have some significant foot issues. So take care of those feet😁👍
Love it! I think a lot of us have started projects and stalled out for a bit. I love that you pushed through and it's really coming along nicely. The colors you chose are beautiful.
There is a You Tube channel here in the United States you might want to watch…Pattern Scout. Her normal content is patterns and sewing but right now she is building cabinets for her kitchen. She had no previous experience building cabinets but is doing it.
You’re doing an incredible job updating your workspace. Thank you for the Craftsy coupon - I just signed up. I’ve been collecting power tools, so that class you recommended sounds great!
It looks beautiful Janelle! Not sure what your plans are for the door, but maybe you could paint it with the leftover Apricot Mix testpot? It could be a nice way to still bring that warm colour into the room, but just in one spot :) Can't wait to see the next phase come together ❤
Looking gorgeous! I can’t wait for it to finish. I was wondering if you should still use the filler on the cracks where your tables will sit. I don’t really know anything about it but I would imagine that doing that will prevent (or at least help prevent) further crumbling. Just saying❤
I do love these colours for you...they match your wardrobe ....so sweet...definitely the bricking is fabulous ...in my home country of Canada having this much cement would be too cold and damp in the winter months...is there any concerns about that ...keeping temperature steady and dampness out...definitely painting the floor will just make it so much easier to keep clean...the carpet is great ..lots of plans to make..making your own furniture ...please video that journey ...I would love to buy tools but I'm very afraid of them...looking forward to your journey
The colours are definitely similar to your brand colours. Which is wonderful. I am thinking, though, there must be water affecting the space. I would have saved up my pennies for tradespeople to fix the issues, including the areas where tables are going. You need a healthy, safe place to work in , Janelle. I look forward to another video. 🥰
This is definitely stage one of doing up this space and we are hoping to get it done up properly (maybe adding a bathroom etc) in a few years by professionals once we’ve saved up a bit. We’ve had a lot of rain over the last few weeks and because of where this space is positioned it has zero water problems which is a relief!
Will you be patching the cracks in the place were you put the bricks and on the walls? The color you put on the beams are absolutely beautiful the color on the floor is to light I think the other color would be better I think it would compliment both colors I love what you are doing to you’re sewing room so beautiful
Does this space allow you to work in it when it is cooler outside? What is the power source for this room? Will you be able to sew here without running long cords for power? Just questions I have as I did not see any plug ins as you were painting.❤️🇨🇦
Are you planning to also store your fabric in this room? If so what plans for storage do you have? I own a small trailer and I setup a sewing space in part of kitchen. And any thoughts/plans on heating or cooling? Does is stay cooler being under the house? I rented a house with a basement and the basement was always cooler.
Yes I am and I’ve got my eye on a Mustard Made locker for my fabrics! At the moment my fabrics are all in boxes and I can’t wait to have them nicely stored again. As for heating, I’m getting a heater and power installed in the next few weeks. The space has been surprisingly warm (a lot warmer than outside) so far this winter without a heater which is a bonus ☺️
@@RoseryApparel It was so nice to get my fabric unpacked and put away. I also realized I have 15 bags of scrap fabric so I need to start some scrap busting projects. That's good it's been staying warm. My kitchen -- where I sew doesn't have windows that can support window unit ac/air con and its been a very hot summer here so I've barely done any sewing.
Your brother did a beautiful job on the brickwork. What a difference! The paint has just lifted the room so much. Looking great and I’m excited for an update! How is the temperature in the room? I’m imagining you need to get an electrician in to bring electricity in, are you planning to install a heater as well?
Yes I am! I have a heater upstairs that we are going to need to move anyway, so I’m going to install that heater in this space instead. I’ve got an electrician coming to do that and add electricity soon which I’m really excited about ☺️
This was my thought too. She has done a really nice job and it looks lovely but it also looks like a place that would house a lot of spiders!! 😩I would be too scared to work in here lol!

Thank you very much Janelle!
It's looking so much better for painting! Lovely warm colours, too..❤

If you ever go to Christchurch, New Zealand, you should visit the cafe Ally & Sid, it's exactly your colour palette and aesthetic 😊
Great colour choices. You are so talented in choosing colours. The space is really coming along. Can't wait to see it all finished ❤
Love it! So prett
So much accomplished already and it looks great!

The floor is lovely! What a difference light colours make. x
It’s looking fantastic. I can’t wait to see the finished room.

Been waiting with bated breath for this video. Longing to see the finished space 😊
I think a nice rug would cozy up the space for you too ❤
This is going to be beautiful ❤
This feels so bright and airy and on brand, the only thing to add would be a calico cat to match the rest of the mood board! 🤍
I love the colour you painted the floor, it sold me on the trim when you see it all together. I can't wait to see the finished room 🤩
It looks so beautiful and reflects your style and personality perfectly 🧡 can’t wait to see the next phase!

Such an amazing transformation already, Janelle!

I can’t wait to see you build your custom table. The room looks amazing and I love this series. I cannot wait to see your creations sewn in there.❤😊
Really beautiful colours Janelle, well done❤
It's going to be a stunning space to work in.
So excited for part 2!! Love it all. The pink floor is great!

Well done😍
It is looking beautiful and when you put the finishing touches it will be a dream sewing studio. Looking forward to the next chapter. 😊
What a great space, Janelle, i ❤it. I love to see the next part, while you finished it. A lovely place.
Greetings from Desiree 🇳🇱
Thanks Desiree 🧡

Ooo a bench seat! Can already see a beautiful homemade cushion! ❤ Cheers to your home reno adventure!
Love it, can't wait for part 3!
Maybe with time you can have replacement windows installed. Maybe something that allows you to open the windows? Dreaming . . . same as you!
❤❤❤his is a very hapoy sewing place. You are doing a great job.
Thanks so much Pat 🧡

Loving every bit of it
What an amazing job you are doing!
I love the pink floor!
Love your paint choices. It is a gorgeous room.
Thank you! I’m really starting to love the pink floor 😍
Looks amazing. I'm so happy to see you doing it yourself. I can't wait to see the end result.
Looks great❤

Hello from Long Beach, CA USA. I love this video!
Hello! Thanks so much for watching 🥰
Awesome! Thank you, subscribed to Craftsy again, I was a member a couple of years ago. Great video as usual!
Thank you!! 🧡
You could make some nice comfy seat cushion and back rest fit that brick bench seat ❤❤
That’s the plan! 😍

I hope you will have room to set up your knitting machine as well can't wait to see the finished space
I did this at my last house!

I cannot wait to see a nice cushion on your seating area. Maybe quilted?

Maybe you could paint the brick the dark color for more contrast
It looks really good, I also would like to know if u have a pattern for the black gingham dress your wearing at the end of the video please? Tia :)

Absolutely love what you have done !!!💪👌. What about wood om the floor?
💞
Looks great! Do you plan on putting in air conditioning and heating along with eventually installing flooring?
❤
Do you have big nasty spiders like in Australia?
This was my thought too. She has done a really nice job and it looks lovely but it also looks like a place that would house a lot of spiders!! 😩I would be too scared to work in here lol!
You might want to think about some sound baffles for filming. It’s very echoey, unfortunately.
