    Thank you for taking us on a look around. I agree with your method and mindset of wanting to find something at a glance. I do use plastic bags, but clear plastic folders with string ties are my go-to (and they sized to fit inside of file cabinets!)

    You don't need to sell your plant, you can just chop it back, there are tons of youtube videos on it.
    Then you can use the chopped pieces as decor for other parts of your home.
    Very lovely studio

      Good point! I'll definitely try to re-root some chopped pieces. It's currently in the sunniest spot of my apartment and I don't think it will survive elsewhere. But I could turn a huge profit on the big plant and buy more plants 🪴 or fabric!

    Loved Ur room and video❤Since Ur closet is deep I would add a shelf over the other shelf and and a shower curtain rod and hang Ur unfinished patterns on the flat wooden pants/slacks hangers. And get hooks to hand the chairs in the closet. Hope this helps😊

      Yay tall sewist! I feel like I spend half of my life adding inches to sewing patterns lol

    • @Happybidr
      @Happybidr 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yay for 3 tall sewists. I’m 6’0” and I do a lot of quilting and cutting these days. So I bought a Martelli table that goes up and down, is covered with a cutting mat and has a long well where long rulers go, and my back no longer bothers me! It’s very pricey so in hindsight if I’d seen what you created I might have done that instead and spent that money on something else.

    • @teriacoleman

      @@Happybidr I had to make my sewing room ergonomic after having back and neck pain. I just finished making a height adjusting table. It is 72 x 30 and raises high enough for me to cut and trace patterns. I love it sooo much. I purchased a table top and legs separately. It took some patience to sand it and make the table top smooth but it was worth it because now I can use it for years to come. I have to remember the exact price but I think the total price was around $300 or less. No matter how we get our tables weather it be pricy or not the best thing is that we have less pain. As a tall sewist everything has to be customized to our height. Sorry for the long response lol.

    Very nice studio tour. My ears picked when I heard you mention the Readers Digest Guide to Sewing, I purchased my copy 45 years ago an still use it today. It is a bit worst for these days 😊.

    Enjoyed your sewing room tour, I am renovating my room now. Your big cutting table would accommodate the three piece Olfa mat, it is 72" x 35". I have one that I leave set up on my drafting table. I have loved it.

    For projects in process, anything with a wide and shallow shape works well: certain Ikea drawer units, (Alex-like, but not the narrow ones), or stacking modular plastic boxes (Container Store, ka-ching).

    You are so blessed to have inherited your grandmother's tapestries, they are beautiful.
    I'm not big into peg boards, but I love yours, the wood and spacing, it's different than the norms.
    The cutting board table I really like how you put it together. Also all the natural light and plants.
    Much success to you.

      Amazon sells single clip hanger things too - good for storing cut patterns you aren't folding or rolling to store away yet

    • @Veronensis
      @Veronensis 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like to store my in progress projects either on a clothing rack, or on hooks. I have pattern clips so I can hang up the pattern, paper gift bags to put small pieces of the garment in (like half constructed collars and the like) and clothes hangers for the half finished garment. that way, I can hang all the components of my in progress projects together

    LOVELY room. I have a question. I have been sewing many years and I make quilts and have made garments. But where do you learn to make your own patterns or alter patterns to fit? I have not seen any classes like this around me.

    • @StylesInSeams
      @StylesInSeams  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I've actually created some classes that are perfect for you! In my 5-part sewing course on Skillshare there is a class on sewing with commercial patterns, one on pattern hacking, and another specifically on altering clothes to fit. You can sign up for a free month and watch the classes with this link: skl.sh/stylesinseams
