    Again, the message here is that in order to stay consistent and motivated in a healthy lifestyle, it’s important to have a positive outlook on yourself and your journey. It does not mean simply living a sedentary life, because that often leads to depression and more health issues.

    Another great video. I love how you brought a middle ground to fitness enthusiasts and the body positivity movement. It’s hard to be healthy when you’re unhappy. Great perspective.

    Amazing you brought up Depression's correlation with BMI, it's something I was actually thinking quite a lot about earlier today. Good video once again

    This is my favorite channel on TH-cam and it’s not even close! Love the combination of psychology and research to discuss every day issues! Great concept.

    Wow, we just came to your channel from Aileen’s comment section (we also recently started a TH-cam channel) and love your vibe! The tips at the end really resonated- tunnel vision is a big one I am trying to work on this year, thanks for the reminder 🙏Keep up the great work and hope we can cross paths one day or maybe even collaborate on TH-cam, if it ever makes sense! ☺️💛Our channel’s mission is to make self-improvement fun and we love creating with likeminded people! ✨

      Wow, I love the TH-cam community, so supportive. Im glad those points helped. I do hope we can collab one day. Im still trying to have tunnel vision with the TH-cam stuff as well. We just need to stay consistent. Good luck on your journey, I just subbed.

    I didn’t know that higher BMI relates to higher depression rates. It’d be so interesting to research those who struggle with gaining weight and see how they view body positivity in today’s society because I know right now being “thick” and curvy is “in” lol little rant but such an informative video! New subbie 💗

    • @reallifepsych3309
      @reallifepsych3309  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Increased depression only started once the BMI was greater than 30 though, which i think is important to note. Thank you for following. I’ll look into the underweight side to see if there’s a correlation.

    As far as number three having that workout buddy, I've had it work in my favor whether they give up or not. When I was stationed in California, one of my neighbors in the barracks and I would go pick up our dinner from the Chow hall, and then head directly to the gym. We worked out every single day and had some incredible games, at least I know I did. I can't vouch for his fitness, but he was always a good spotter.
    When I worked at Cedar point amusement Park as a ride host, during Halloween weekends, had nothing to do during the week so I started going to a dojo for MMA training, which was an hour of lifting and various other exercises before we actually started working on the fundamentals of the fighting. The guy who suggested we go in the first place couldn't even lift the bench press bar, and could barely even do push-ups, so after a few days he never showed up again, but that gave me even more motivation to not give up.

    Let's put it to test via a thought experiment;
    "As therapist, you are called upon to ait cardiologist to help them with a patient who have serious cardiac disease at lethal stage caused by very poor diet and high obesity, he/she is at a in risk of having an hearth attack anytime soon. Doctor explained you (therapist) that it is paramount to motivate the patient to better his/her diet, life-style and loose weight. As a therapist, you are to suggest a method to motivate the patient to react as soon as possible to mitigate the mortal risk without putting the patient under stress."
    Please "Real Life Psych", explain what you would do in such a case.
