You passed up some good stuff. I hit the bins today and pulled out some gold. love the hunt keep having to go farther and farther to find new places. Enjoy running into other collectors and talking shop.
I’ve been to Yellow Bear. I got some nice old DC Alex Ross books and they were in great condition. I keep forgetting to go back there. Those are the type of shops l look for because l always find good books.
Great video as always Mike. I saw you look at the Green Lantern and was "wow, that's an awesome cover". The Web of Spider-man story made me chuckle. I've bought and sold that book several times and I knew the story behind it being a key. How you explained it though, spot on - kind of, but not really the first appearance of Venom. 😆
Got hooked with your content recently! I agree that it's the thrill of hunting gets more exciting (especially for rarities). I collect omnis now, but these key issues are my childhood. Looking forward to more of your authentic posts!
If you ever feel like sharing, would love to see a little video tour of your collection. Your wall, shelves, boxes, etc... how is it organized? What’s the extent? Love collection walkthroughs.
Love the format! The Web of Spider-Man #18 takes the cake for me. I actually never heard of that particular redcon up until now. So thank you for sharing that fun little story with us!
You "forgot some food", and "fate intervened". Likely story. 😉 That Nightcrawler cover is awesome... almost heartbreaking? For me, he's one of those characters that can appear dark and scary, and yet, instead of feeling fearful of him, you feel empathy. I guess I can attribute that to Alan Cumming's excellent portrayal of him in the films; he gave him so much heart.
Davie Michelinie wrote about this back in the day in the letter pages of Wizard Magazine. The person who pushed Peter Parker in Web # 18 was supposed to be Venom from the very beginning,. The key is that the pusher didn't set off his Spidey Sense, which would later be revealed to be one of Venom's powers. The unseen person would did this a couple more time in other Spider-Man series so that the readers would pick up on the mystery and wonder who this person was, and then then do the big reveal when Venom debuted officially. The reason he never tied up the loose ends in ASM # 300 was because of what you noticed - Michelinie had originally intended for Venom to be the female with a grudge. When Michelinie jumped from Web to Amazing he took the idea with him, but editor Jim Salicrup didn't think fans would accept the idea of a female throwing Spider-Man through walls and told him to make Venom male. Because of the female hands he couldn't exactly say it was Brock at the time, but then when Venom started blowing up in popularity Michelinie thought that fans were giving Todd MacFarlane too much credit for Venom's creation. To give himself more credit, he officially made Venom as the pusher canon in ASM # 388 to show that he had the idea for Venom long before MacFarlane was even drawing ASM. More info than you probably wanted, but point being the reveal in ASM # 388 was not a retcon. It was Micheline going back to his original intention...and possibly being a glory hog. ; )
That was AMAZING info! Thanks so much for that, I wish I knew that when I did this edit. This is why I love this community, so much institutional knowledge… thanks so much!
I always buy those public service/public information comics too when I find them, they cover such a range of topics from anti-Communist propaganda in the 1950s to fire safety in the forests with Smokey The Bear (I think Gold Key issued that one in the 1970s). The Wheedon/Cassaday X-Men series is really enjoyable, definitely worth tracking down all the issues. Marvels is a great miniseries and should be in every fan's collection.
That Teen Titans comic was actually made part of the official canon of DC. They introduced That teen hero called Protector into the main series, Dick even trained him for a while. Many years later, Tom King used him, for his infamous Heroes in Crisis, where we learn that while the character main thing was fight drugs, he was actually secretly a junkie himself. Of course fans HATED it.
Hi Mike, buying comic books during a camping trip? That is really finding comic books "in the wild". Hope you still got enough cash for the groceries? I can image the scenario when you got back to your wife: You: Hey honey, I am back. She: That´s great honey, but where is the food? You: Ooops! Honey, did I ever tell you how healthy and tasty comic books can be? Great video. Please more of it.
I do have that Teen Titans issue as well! I’ve always liked those National campaign promos. I recently picked up a nice copy of the Spider-Man/Power Pack child abuse issues from the 80’s
The guy on the cover of the teen titans PSA book actually appears years later in continuity in Tom Kings Heroes in Crisis talking about how he had a nervous breakdown after that new teen titans book,
Great pick ups! 😊 - Love your storytelling. I remember reading that "first Venom" story when it originally came out - my buddies and I totally geeked out about "who could possibly not trigger his Spidey sense?" Lol 😂
That Alex Ross cover is awesome! I'm such a big fan of his work. And that Nightcrawler cover is no slouch. Personally, I hope Danger does show up, so my copy of Astonishing X-Men will go up even more. 🤣🤣 Another great video, Mike!
That xmen cover with first appearance of danger is pretty dope and I actually find that “first appearance” of Eddie Brock pretty interesting! Definitely a cool grab sort of like a IYKYK 😂
I remember the Alex Ross Marvels books from the 90s. I was able to grab a couple of them (they had an acetate cover didnt they?) at the Hubbardston Flea Market back then but yea they were definitely pricier and for some reason I felt they were geared to an older reader because of the art lol.
Awesome Nightcrawler cover. I have started to collect the 25th anniversary edition comics. Some can be tough to find and on the expensive side. I might be in the minority but I actually like the X Factor series.
@@lunchmoneycomics Well, I'll let it go this time, because you're a father, but if this happens again, I may have to send an ED-209 in my SUX 6000 to have words with you.
Interesting cameo/retcon Eddie Brock story. Fun as always.
I have both the Spiderman/Daredevil and Marvels. You are right, great art.
Nice little pickup pile.
Love the Gil Kane GL cover!
You passed up some good stuff. I hit the bins today and pulled out some gold. love the hunt keep having to go farther and farther to find new places. Enjoy running into other collectors and talking shop.
One thing I am a big fan of older books is the time capsule aspect of it. Comic characters, storytelling, ads, letter pages of a snapshot in time.
I totally agree. The ads inside and on the back cover are often better than the comic itself!
Awesome pick-ups, especially this X books…
Put on your scuba gear...I love it!
I do like the 25th anniversary comics with the border. I may have to start collecting that set.
this are awesome mike. keep it up. kudos! mabuhay ka! 🇵🇭
Keep up the great content. Love the channel
That night crawler cover is nice.
Some awesome finds there, that Alex Ross cover is awesome
Big fan of the Web Head, and any shot at $1 books... always a good day.
X Factor #10 is a Walt Simonson cover too. Love that series.
I’ve been to Yellow Bear. I got some nice old DC Alex Ross books and they were in great condition. I keep forgetting to go back there. Those are the type of shops l look for because l always find good books.
Great pick ups for cheap! Can't beat that! Like the special Cap and Titans books.
No better feeling than having $13 in your wallet and walking away with 12 books. Great pick ups as always Mike 👏
When you're flipping through those comics, it's like ASMR for comic book collectors.
Nothing like finding comics for a buck❤
Thanks!😊

Someday I should. Right now it’s not as organized as I would like it to be and there would be a lot of peeking in boxes to remember what’s in there
Sweet! Great video, and enjoy the weekend.
Love the format! The Web of Spider-Man #18 takes the cake for me. I actually never heard of that particular redcon up until now. So thank you for sharing that fun little story with us!
It's funny that Cap is going to war against drugs when he was created by one
LOL never thought of it that way!
Nice little haul mike👍
Another good haul! 👏🔥

That X-Factor #10 was a great pickup for a buck. The Mutant Massacre is one of the best X-men crossover events imo.
Mutant massacre and fall of the Mutants best 80s stuff
Anytime you can get some bronze and copper age books for a dollar or less it’s a good pick up. Also look out for those newsstands variants
Went to a flea market today all books were $15.00 to $20.00 each mainly dc Superman and Batman, marvel books were $4.00 to $60.00. Bizarre pricing.
That seems high for a flea

That’s awesome, I didn’t know that. I love facts like this Thanks!
Great pick ups! 👍😃👍

Can’t beat those for a buck, nice finds Mike
If you want to branch out you should read planetary one of the best windstorm series ever. John casaday art is phenomenal.
Fascinating books..Well worth a $1 each.
The guy on the cover of the teen titans PSA book actually appears years later in continuity in Tom Kings Heroes in Crisis talking about how he had a nervous breakdown after that new teen titans book,
Green lantern and X-factor my faves
Great pickups for $13
Great pick ups! 😊 - Love your storytelling. I remember reading that "first Venom" story when it originally came out - my buddies and I totally geeked out about "who could possibly not trigger his Spidey sense?" Lol 😂
Web of Spider-man Annual has Art Adams art and a story with New Mutants characters. Fun story.

Great show buddy from oz
I would have been pretty pumped to pull that X-factor 10. I'm hunting for all those 25th anniv. border covers
I have a lot of the messiah marvel. I also collect teen titans. I collect those.

As always Mike, entertaining and fun to watch. Ps I fear $1. Boxes cause I tend to end up buying a short box most of the time
Well done mike having the discipline to only spending 13$ i know it to well it can be easy to go overboard!
Well I was very undisciplined at the last few comic shows, so $1 books might be the only thing I can afford for a while!
great deals !!
Uuumm wasn't Captain America injected with drugs to make him Captain America 🤔 lol
Only book u passed on that I would of grabbed is first appearance of anarchy
Ah, I missed it, I honestly love when people point out my missed so I learn from them. Thanks!
yup, Detective Comics 608. I have 609 but not this one.
I love your channel. I'm curious about something, what font't did you use for your into? I like the comic booky style of it.
It’s actually called “Comic Strip” and it’s an option in iMovie. And thanks for watching!
Awesome Nightcrawler cover. I have started to collect the 25th anniversary edition comics. Some can be tough to find and on the expensive side. I might be in the minority but I actually like the X Factor series.
You aren’t in the minority, I love it too!
You're crazy I would have gotten in trouble if I stopped lol
It was difficult but I have strong willpower!
I'd love to see if you know where to find star trek and doctor who.
I stumble upon Star Trek frequently, but I’ve only seen Dr Who once ever.
Can you do a video behind your GSX1?
That’s a great idea, but I kind of already did! If you check my “Top 5 Keys” Tag video that came out last month, I talk about it quite a bit
@@lunchmoneycomics thank you! I’ll take a look
Who pushed Peter Parker? #spideysense #petertingle
I'm disappointed. Not a single "I'll buy that for a dollar!" reference?
Lol for shame! I’m a dad too, I say stupid stuff like that all the time!
@@lunchmoneycomics Well, I'll let it go this time, because you're a father, but if this happens again, I may have to send an ED-209 in my SUX 6000 to have words with you.
might want to flip thru comics with yur other hand so viewers can clearly see the issue # icon
You dont NEED any comics
