The perfect 'lunch money' purchase! Bulk purchases can be great as you can get stuff for so cheap, but just be wary of accumulating too much too quickly or you'll need a bigger house!
Amazing video!👍👏 I just began my comition and found Toon Haven. They have an incredible range of digital comics for every genre, including the hard to find ones. Lifetime updates too!😁c book collec
Mike, Batman, Superman, Daredevil, Awesome stop, yeah come to Scary Schoharie, Mike you are a riot that is why I love this channel!! I had three of those and about hundred and fifty X-Men, Wolverine, X- force, X- factor, classic X-Men, oh the X- Men went back to Uncanny X-Mens with Dave Cockrum, I wonder how much my bamboo rods were worth from the 40's still have two!!
The Eclipse manga stuff Area88, Kamui, and Mai were pretty standard and sold a stores here in Toronto in the late 80s. Great haul regardless. Great read.
Great haul man! I'm in your neighborhood somewhat, live in Central CT and go to a good chunk of the same places you do. Next up is Terrificon, maybe I will see you there
Great stuff as always mike. It was great meeting you the other day at the comic show...I ended up getting my own copy of Batman 423 and I couldn't be happier. Happy Hunting and See you out there 👍
Good Evening Michael It seems that it remains to be said PRETTY FLY FOR A COMIC GUY! And don't we all wish we had been there with you. I agree with Lettuce Comics. Of course you are an exper fly fisherman and rod restorer, where do you find the time? I really loved the rural road trip ( I guess you could say your hobby lead you down a different track)and the glimpses of all that cool stuff. Cheers Al The Goldketfourcolorkidownunda,
Great deal for sure!! I love seeing about the fishing rod! Feel free to include anything else you come across relating to other hobbies! Like you said, one big collecting family!! Hope to make it down again to your neck of the woods before end of summer!
I happen to have purchased comic book lots before and at the time I was really happy but as days and years past, I find myself with boxes of comic books that I just don’t want if someone were to offer me a trade for my thousands of books for one or two books that I do want I would take it in a heartbeat
Of course you like fly fishing you handsome, rugged, handsome man. The subtitled Transformers book is just beyond cool. I also really like the Gundam books. I know nothing about them, I just like big robots punching one another.
Nice collection there. Viz comics were my introduction to Manga and Anime. I have a bunch of those same titles. Ranma 1/2 is a great read for quirky comedy about a father and son who fall into a cursed spring.
What a nice variety of comic books from different publishers. I really don't collect Green Hornet and Hawkman, but they really have nice covers. The indiana jones books looked like some fine painted covers. I think you had a great pick up.
My brother lives in Sarasota Florida and he found a neighbor a few houses away that was having a yard sale. He had old science magazines out so my brother asked if he had comics. He wasn’t sure but he collected through marvel through the 60’s and he was pretty sure his mom tossed them in the 80’s, but he’d check. He said he had Amazing Spiderman and Hulk #1 which you listen to those stories and you kind of take them with a grain of salt, 90 % of the time you don’t hear anything else after that. A couple weeks later he see’s my brother and says he found them. Another couple weeks go by, he comes back and says they’ve been in his moms shed since the 70’s and he has them in order. He has almost complete runs. He brings my brother a few books to clean and press and gives my brother 3 doubles for the work. An FF 12, 49, and a TOS 52. My brother is pressing Hulk 1 & 2 today. He did the Spiderman 1,2,4,6,7,8-20, FF 4, 48-50, DareDevil 1&2. There’s more than i can list. All in a Florida shed for 40 years. Talk about in the wild. The guy is not interested in slabbing or selling. He owns 4 houses and doesn’t care about the money. I’m jealous as hell lol. He’s been posting what he’s doing on his instagram @brianschlenger. He doesn’t have a you tube channel or anything. He only gets about 9 likes which surprises the heck out of me.
Great fly rod Mike. Oh man I wish I could hit a garage sale that had Indiana jones and the spear of destiny and titles like that. Those are great reading. Also I have a new drinking game from your videos. Every time you say hmmmmm I take a drink. But drink of water. Just messin man. Garage sales are so fun.
And right in the first box, you pass by a copy of Tekworld #2 like it's nothing. That's William Shatner, Mike. Shatner! There was a Homestar Runner stuffed "Kicked the Cheat" on a dollar donation table that can seriously go for $200. I audibly groaned when I saw that. Not because I'd want to resell it, but because I lost mine years ago and the thought of replacing it for $1 donation is insane! As always, great video. I hardly ever find comics at garage sales anymore. Love that you found these.
Great finds Mike! I’m also a fisherman and would love to see how that fishing rod looks after you restore it. 🎣 Robotech was my jam when I was a kid, loved that show but I never got the comics/manga.
Mike, keep this up and you’ll need a bigger dining room table 😂 Great watching the randomness of those boxes, to paraphrase Forrest “Life is like a box of ..comics.. you never know what you’re gonna get” 🤣
I really should try to get up early on Saturday mornings, but I have struck out so many time at garage sales that I'm just not motivated enough. Throw in the fact that most sales around here start on Thursdays, and it just doesn't work out well for them to be a good source of comics for me. Did that cart fit in your car? $10 for it was a steal!
Thanks for all your content Mike! I actually was able to stop by HasBeen since you spotlighted it in one of your videos. Awesome place. I picked up the first 3D comic book with Mighty Mouse on the cover and original glasses included. When I got home I was a bit disappointed to find some tape on the inside cover and staples that looked like they were newer than 1953 so there was some restoration there, but still stoked with my purchase. Rik was great, awesome guy. Keep the content coming!
Hey Mike, I know those emus! I met them last year while driving between Dubbo and Bathurst here in New South Wales. Have they migrated to the US or are they there on holidays? Tempus Fugitive: Ken Steacy was quite big in the late 80s and the 90s for his airbrushed artwork. $90 for the all that choice reading? Bargain.
Non yard sale will compare to that one video with the secret wars 8 and star wars 68. I cant remeber the others. Regardless thanks for taking us along on your sat morning
Better have your floors sprayed with anti termite and have your house inspected by pest control at least once a year. As your house age more, you might encounter a termite problem. In the house I grew up in, there are holes on the 2nd floor. That's why when I built a house of my own, I made sure the floors upstairs isn't made of wood, but of concrete.
Comico Robotech followed the tv show story line. Not great art, but as a kid I didn't mind. Area88 was awesome. Shin is tricked into enlisting into a mercenary airforce so his best friend would get his girlfriend/company. The cartoon show was pretty good. Great series for military aircraft nerds. I have nearly all of each run.
Superman Confidential was a great series written by Darwyn Cooke with art by Tim Sale. Speaking of Cooke, if you haven’t looked into his art I couldn’t recommend it highly enough! I think you’ll really enjoy it! 👍🏻
I’d say maybe 1 out of 1000 garage/yard sales around me have things I collect (comics, sports cards and autographs). They mainly just have used clothes, knick knacks that you find at the dollar stores and old gardening tools. lol
Aaaaaah you got X-Men books you know the rule, this is your friendly reminder that we wanna see the collection, also my knowledge on Batman is far more vast then anything I know that Batman 500 book at the end of the end of the day is like a $1 book maybe like $3 on a good day but if you find a really nice copy of Batman 500 second print it's a lot more rare and if it looks very sharp it could go for a lot more than $3 like 15x maybe less or more depending, and that's a bat fact
Hi Mike! Off topic a bit, but I am heading to Boston for a vacation from Aug. 30th - Sept. 6th. Wondering if you have any "must do" suggestions for me, or any comic book places I definitely need to see, or shows that might be going on during my stay. Just looking for a suggestion or two if you have time. Thanks! Love your channel!
Hmm, you are going to miss the Boston comic con by a few weeks but there are lots of good stores in the area. Really depends on if you have a car but definitely do a google search you can’t really go wrong with any of them. Also if you want to go to a nice area and see a flea market there is Todd Farm in Rowley
Hi Mike, love your channel. Just got into collecting my 90’s x-Men from when I was a kid. Recently this weekend got Secret Wars #8 CGC graded in 9.8 for $500. Definitely spent lot of lunch money for that. Wanted to get your thoughts if that was a good deal? Keep up great work. Thanks.
The book directly under the Justice league quarterly looks like it’s JSA Secret Files which is the 1st appearance of the New Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders)!
Hey Mike! Another great video. I have a odd question. In your intro for your videos, what are the comics in the pile that gets tossed at the end? One looks like it might have Santa in it. Do you remember what they are?
