That's amazing an your message at the end of the video hits the nail on the head. Such a positive message. Keep the great content coming mad love and respect from the North 🇨🇦
Thank you. You are the first comic youtuber that I fill has the right attitude about hunting down and collecting these books we call comics. The others that I watch seam to do it for the value of the book. Again, thank you.
I was the same way, one comic book every once in awhile. A new one anyway. But when we were little it's our local store had Comics set out, and it wouldn't let no one touch them unless they were buying them especially kids. We got to sit there, me and my twin brother, and read them why my Mom shopped. We were very careful as why. We were the only two we got to do it. Good memories thanks.
It’s so much fun finding books, cleaning them and inventorying them. I completely agree with your final thoughts. I commented on your last video, I’m currently in the process of going 47 boxes from a lady who’s son passed away. She was kind enough to let me buy a few boxes at a time. I stopped paying attention to top 10 lists, speculation etc.
Nice , is my second video watching the channel. Wow. I’m inspired by you, on don’t forget why you started collecting comics. It’s so easy, to go for all the money comics and not the fun comics from your past. I subscribed and excited to walk this journey through the future of collecting fun things.

Good afternoon Michael Wonderful show, I am catching up on all your Videos, each comic you showed had a great cover, a great history and will live on . I am sure the guy you purchased these from "GOT YOU' and was no doubt happy that you become the keeper of these comics. Here in Australia, there is no bad Marvel Star Wars Title, folks just love them Keep up the great work, looking forward to my next show The Gold Key Kid
Cool video. I know I paid too much for the ones I got. But I do have a couple number ones. Have you ever heard of Punisher magazine I don't know if I've asked you or not before.and Groo The Wanderer number one through I don't know 50 52 not all in the order a few missing. Great score brother. I've been collecting since 1980 im almost 50 now love the dig. And the deals found a new mutants 98 newstand at a flea market felt like I was 7 at Xmas with my first bike
Just stumbled onto your channel a few days ago and I enjoy the journey you take us on. Your lunch money story brings back memories. I'm a little older so I had a tad more than lunch money to spend, but not by much. Lol Paper route money in the 90's, but I can absolutely relate to reading them over and over and appreciate the small collection I did have. Much more a budget buyer now, but still very selective on what I purchase. So it's nice to see somebody who's not into slabs and the most recent keys and flipping everything.
Thank you for the great comment! Although I do own a few slabs (not the biggest fan) it’s true that I’m not into modern comics and I almost never sell anything (but I love trading). It’s funny, I’m older now and not on a tight budget, but those lessons learned as a kid have carried over to adulthood and I’m still very frugal, selective, and appreciative of what I have. Great to hear from a similar mind and thanks for watching!
@@lunchmoneycomics I'd much rather trade as well, though sometimes selling helps those more expensive buys from time to time. I feel trading helps along people who can't afford more expensive things, as most people are looking to sell. I feel good when I can work a trade and give somebody something they've been looking for. Because I've been in that same situation and have appreciated somebody else's kindness in helping ME out. I'm 100% in agreement with the frugaleness even though I'm a tiny bit better off financially then I was say 5 years ago. It sticks with you. Patience also helps a ton.
Just found your channel. Very cool! Auto subbed! Thanks for taking your son along for the ride! As a dad myself, I’m so glad we’re on the same page inasmuch as starting our kids on a lifelong appreciation of reading, art and the joy of collecting. Keep up the great work and congrats on the awesome haul!
Oh wow thanks for the kind words! My son is a voracious reader and just likes hanging out with his dad so it isn’t hard to convince him. Keep up that great parenting yourself!
We just don't get garage or yard sales here in the UK. Sounds like great fun. We have car boot sales populated with ' professional ' sellers and savvy buyers but pretty dull and no real surprise finds.
It’s funny you commented on this, my wife’s coworker is from Yorkshire and we literally had this same discussion with her after I posted this video. She said the exact same thing about “boot sales.” I like the idea of them, they kind of sound like mini mobile flea markets… too bad it sounds unlikely you would find a car full of old comic books.
Great video brother! Got an excellent pile of books at a phenomenal price! Big keys? Who cares!? Lots of wonderful stories. It’s why comics are the greatest, and not because of their potential value, that’s for the people who come and go through the hobby and never read or understand these great characters. You and your son enjoy those wonderful comics! Thanks for sharing!
Great video! I also used to barely eat at school so I could keep some money to buy comics lol and then of course my mom found out and felt badly and said she would have gotten me some comics. But yay, we definitely scraped by when I grew up so I felt badly asking her for more money for comics. Cool haul and it was neat seeing you son involved with it.
Awesome find! Everyone pulls out the keys to cash in on those, but they ignore the value of the ones they leave behind. You got an amazing deal on a ton of comics!
Your Channel is great! I can totally relate to your "origin story" . X-men 193 was the first MCU book that I bought off of the spinner rack at the corner mini mart. Btw- those Freak Brothers comics have a fair bit of value. ( I grew up to become a comic shop owner for 20+ years.) ( I sold my 2 shops in 2008 and work in "The real world" now lol). I just got back into comics about 3 years ago and have that same sense of wonder that you described... Sometimes it's almost like a time machine- how crazy and wonderful. Keep up the good work! Best Regards- Brian!
Thanks! I got excited by those Freak Brothers at first but they are something like the 6th printing and were very “well read” (terrible condition). The guy I bought them from said he absolutely loved those comics.
Nice to see a video just about the thrill of finding new comics and not everything about the value. While I wasnt a lunch money comics collector as a kid I do remember riding my bike, picking up cans and returning them to buy comics at the country store. Sometimes those were long bike rides but I still remember which comics I bought that way.
Great comment! Can collecting was a huge source of comic income for me as well. And I still remember a few of the hairier bike rides while trying to hold a comic while dodging traffic!
Great video and nice pickups! On the Female MODOK that's the Kate Waynesboro version but there is another named Olinka Brarankova and she goes by MODAM. Keep up the good work..
Woah that dude has a sick collection. Eclipse comics is awesome especially Alien Encounter. I myself prefer independent comics and always jump when i find, Valiant, Epic, Malibu, Eclipse etc. Lots of good stuff there, good find!
Damn! That’s the most insane haul for the price! So awesome! I would’ve been most interested in the swamp thing, horror and indie books. Geez I’m missing out by not looking for comics at yard sales! Very nice though! 👍🏻
Great vids. Glad to see you picking up reader quality comics as a collector. It seems that most on YT that post comic haul videos are either flippers that don’t care about or read comics or collectors looking exclusively for grails to slab. Looking forward to more.
Thanks! Yes I’m a collector first and foremost and I still read a LOT of what I pick up. I do part with some stuff but only if I’m not interested in it or it’s a duplicate. Thanks for the comment!

That was an awesome video, I’ve had a few small purchases like that not as many comic books as you got, but at least close to half of that. Nothing big came out of them, but just going through them and finding Smokies and Kool covers was so much fun, I agree with everything you said.

Thanks for the great comment! The video makes it seem like I was rushing to get them sorted, but I was definitely stopping to read a random comic every 5 minutes! Impossible not to.

When I was a kid (late 60's early to mid 70's) I never really understood what racism was, my sister dated the only black guy in our neighborhood and every summer we had Japanese foreign exchange students stay at our home and my best friend at the time was Korean American. It wasn't until I read The XMen I began to understand why racism even exists. I was also dyslexic and comics helped me to read much better and the art inspired me to study art and be an artist myself. I owe so much of my childhood and even young adulthood to comics. Now seeing some of my favorite heroes come to life on the big screen be it not all are in line to the Golden and Silver age I grew up reading now more towards the New Univers like the Xmen or the new JLA. I still was familiar with The New Univers watch the Xmen cartoon and reading the Civil War series which is about when I stopped reading and collecting comic books. I know nothing about Secret Wars and am kinda glad I don't it will make watching the series, much like you said opening and reading my first comic books. My favorite comic book characters are The Punisher, Dare Devil, Spiderman, The Xmen, Batman/The Dark Night and Aquaman, although I think DC ripped off The Submariner in their adaptation of the character for the movies. The Submariner was also one of my favorite characters growing up, and I was very upset when he wasn't included in the rise of the Avengers, after all he is the original mutant, but again they where going off the New Univers characters. I did not like how he was introduced in the Wakanda Forever movie, very disappointing for this long time fan. Anyway you and your son enjoy the hobbie together and "Excelsior!"
Getting back into collecting, nothing crazy just filling in continuity gaps etc. After watching a few of your videos, which I enjoy, I subscribed because of this video. We were certainly not rich either. Regardless, I often chose to feed my imagination rather than my mouth with the coins I would scroung. It wasn't a hard decision at all! Keep collecting, and Cheers!
Great to hear from a like mind. A child should be able to entertain themselves with just a good imagination, but a few coins on a book can go a long way in inspiring that. Thanks for the sub!
I did the same thing with my lunch money, I'd have a dollar left over every day and would stop at the store on my way home after school and get 2 comics monday thru friday since my mom would never get them for me and I would hide them in a giant cedar cabinet...and I still have all of them. You talking about your experience really brought me back figuring out ways to get comics as an 11 year old. Maybe it's a New England thing. Good vids...love your content.
Looks like alot fun! My first Job was at a Local comic shop and I instantly fell in love with the charaters and story's Especially the Uncanny X-Men from the 80s Mutant Massacre and Inferno are among my all time favorites!
Hey I came across your videos just recently because I just got into collecting comics! I really like your channel!. I’m new to this kind of stuff ha. What would you recommend for a beginner?
My advice is pretty simple: Collect what you like. Even if the comics end up not being worth a lot, they are still worth something to you. If it’s modern comics you want to get into, just pick up a few different titles that look good and see what you gravitate to. For me, I mostly collect and read older x-men stories. I find that older books literally have more story inside of them. But if you are collecting for collecting sake, IMO older > new.
Thank you sir! Yeah I started buying Star Wars first cause I’m a big fan. But recently I randomly went to a antique/ flea market, it was next to a gun show that we usually have and I found some old comics. DC / Marvel. From that I started to really like getting different titles of comics
Love your final words at the end of the video. You are right, my 11 year old me, would go absolutely NUTS seeing what comics i own today, specially Xmen titles. Great video. Thank you, keep it up./
Hey, hope all is well. Just wondering if you know anything about Daredevil #131, first appearance of Bullseye, why the word "hornhead" is misspelled in every Daredevil #131, or is that the way is supposed to be said. Let me know, thanks
As far as I know it’s just a mistake that was missed and it’s that way on every 131. Same is true of how Elektra is misspelled “Elecktra” on the cover of every 168.
I THOUGHT THE FIRST APPEARANCE OF THE SOVIET SUPREME WAS IN THE CHAMPIONS? WAY BACK IN THE BRONZE AGE WITH BLACK WIDOW?!!!GARY BAILEY KING OF DARKNESS I AM PROBABLY WRONG WHAT AN AWESOME DEAL YOU GOT , I GOT ONE BOX OF MARVEL AND D.C AND INDEPENDENTS ALL BRONZE AGE FOR 25. 00 SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND NOTHING SINCE, ANYWAYS WAY TO GO, I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH YOU!!!GARY BAILEY (EXACTLY) AND THAT IS HOW I SAVED MY MONEY FOR MY COMICS, IS TO THIS DAY!!!GARY BAILEY KING
Love it. So many great memories in those stacks. I'm older then you...I took my lunch money and went to the local used book store. They had comics 5 for $1. Best bucks I ever spent in my life to this day. Keep your son reading those 80's and 90's classics!!!! They are REAL Marvel and soooooooo good. Way better then the modern agenda diven trash they are making today.
I don't understand why people always think that superheroes comics are the best!...just one superhero multipled in hundred ones...they only earned billions $ over the readers who read the same infinite suoerhero and villain stories over and over again
I don’t usually respond to comments like this but you’re way off base for 3 reasons: 1) in my previous video I gave him MORE money than he was asking because I wanted to be fair; most people wouldn’t do that. 2) I told him to sell what he could and to call me if he wanted to sell the rest, HE CALLED ME because I’m not a dealer and he wanted my son and I to have them. 3) after I realized there were more comics than we thought, I called him immediately and offered more money (most people wouldn’t do that either); he declined, again saying he wanted us to have them. I’ve spoken with him several times since and we have a great relationship.
I agree 100%, I am not in this hobby to get rich, I am in it to enjoy the stories and the art work. If I come across a key, great, if not, not a big deal.

Anyway you and your son enjoy the hobbie together
and "Excelsior!"
Thank you for the great comment, I enjoyed reading about your comic history and great point of view. Excelsior!
Awesome… glad to hear it worked out for you. Crazy since he was offering such cheap prices.
You have nice way you got books mine way after Church and Sunday school we would go Walgreens and I would get comic books
Everytime I watch one of youre vids I find some of those comics in the next few days when im out searching. Just found Supreme Squadron #1
Great content.
You looking to sell these filler books? I’d love to chat about it!
Maybe, hit me up on Instagram or at LunchMoneyComics@gmail.com
I did the same thing with my lunch money, I'd have a dollar left over every day and would stop at the store on my way home after school and get 2 comics monday thru friday since my mom would never get them for me and I would hide them in a giant cedar cabinet...and I still have all of them. You talking about your experience really brought me back figuring out ways to get comics as an 11 year old. Maybe it's a New England thing. Good vids...love your content.
Thanks so much, and I’m always very happy to hear from others who can relate to that.
Looks like alot fun! My first Job was at a Local comic shop and I instantly fell in love with the charaters and story's Especially the Uncanny X-Men from the 80s Mutant Massacre and Inferno are among my all time favorites!
You have great taste :-)
Where do you sell your comics at?
I don’t really sell them. The few I have sold were on eBay, but it’s rare.
Nice. Awesome books.
Why can't I ever find a garage sale this good!
Haha it’s rare for me too!
Great video!
Thanks! I love your content!
I wish I could find deals like this. Lol
Love your final words at the end of the video. You are right, my 11 year old me, would go absolutely NUTS seeing what comics i own today, specially Xmen titles. Great video. Thank you, keep it up./
Thank you so much for the sentiment, and thanks for watching!
Great man love the minor keys
Great content
good philosophy on comics. i feel the same way about them. the new stuff doesn't excite me as much.
Thanks
That's $0.05 cents a Comic!

Those were underground’s. The undefined group
"Dreadstar whoever the heck that is" Smhhhhhhhh
Yeah, I admit it, I’m embarrassed. Already had a close friend who’s a big Starlin fan yell at me lol.
I think the batman poster might be worth a little same with the Simpson comics , I would buy the Sci fo Aleins comics
If your not interested in keeping some of the indipendent sci fi/horror and the ones 'defying classification" let me know.
You can set up your own comic book shop now. 👍🏻
Haha, I like my day job too much!

Thanks! My son (and I) just like grabbing a random book out of the piles and reading it, not knowing what it’s going to be… It’s a box of chocolates.
SCORE!
Dreadstar is JIM STARLIN!!! Definitely READ.
Haha yes I’ve gotten a lot of grief for that joke since this video came out. I actually love Starlin so I get why other fans have let me hear it lol.
Wanted to make sure you did not miss out on an epic story by one of the greats!
Dude so many good independent comics...check out Cartoonist Kayfabe!
If you're going to whine about an incredible haul like this.... (oh my back) give them all to your son! This is a treasure trove of joy!
I absolutely agree it’s a treasure trove of joy, I think I was pointing out it was totally worth the effort!
Someone found a honey hole
Ha! Pretty sure it’s mostly tapped but you never know!
I don't understand why people always think that superheroes comics are the best!...just one superhero multipled in hundred ones...they only earned billions $ over the readers who read the same infinite suoerhero and villain stories over and over again

I bet it is such an american thing for kids to save their lunch money to buy comic books. At least I did .

Bro telling his story of how he scammed a family
I don’t usually respond to comments like this but you’re way off base for 3 reasons:
1) in my previous video I gave him MORE money than he was asking because I wanted to be fair; most people wouldn’t do that.
Not knowing who Dreadstar is kind of lowers your credibility regarding knowledge of the industry.
@@MrCzerillo Relax, it was a joke. I’ve said as much in other videos where I discussed both Starlin and Dreadstar.
Great video!
