If you're looking for weird oddball heroes, don't forget the classic "Fatman the Human Frying Saucer" series. -Silly but truly fun series written by Otto Binder & drawn by C C Beck of 1940's Captain Marvel fame!! I'm proud to say I have the complete 3 issue run! --Loved it as a kid (great '60"s fun) so had to complete the run a few years ago!! Check it out!!
Excellent selection of comics Mike. The 3-D Man story in Marvel Premiere reads better than the description gives it credit for. Uncanny X-Men #186 and its sequel in #198 are two of the few X-Men comics I've kept, as much for Windsor-Smith's beautiful art as for Claremont's sensitive story. All 12 issues of Crisis for $50? Sign me up! As soon as you said you were going back for boards I knew you'd walk out with more than just white cardboard rectangles - all those comics are great choices and amazing value. Favourite DC character? Definitely Swamp Thing, and he's currently in good hands with Ram V's 16-issue series having just finished and soon the inevitable relaunch of his title #3000.
Superman is my favorite DC character. He has been for quite a while, since I bought (Original run) Superman #405 in which Superman disguises himself as Batman. A great issue, I won't tell you the reason as it is a surprise. However, I fell in love with Superman one summer when I bought (Post Crisis) Superman #28, 30 and #32 (in a Vermont drug store), where Superman leaves earth! Had to complete that collection ... all 4 runs... and I am nearly there. On the Marvel side, Excalibur is my favorite book. Where I failed to grab every issue of X-Men, I gave the book a chance when Marvel comics was selling books by runs in the 90s. I picked up the Alan Davis run. I now have every single issue of Excalibur in my collection (crossovers I have not been able to grab as successfully nor am I attempting to... yet). I have the Crisis trade but to have those books would be amazing, as would the Daredevil's as Frank Miller I have come to appreciate more and more.
Batman #201 was my first ever comic book. My friend in 4th grade lent it to me before I moved away, I never got the ability to return it. I don’t know whatever happened to it but I has been on my collection list for a while but all I could remember was the cover and some interior panels. WOW! I forgot to tell you my favorite DC superhero. My ear was the very late 1960's -70's. Have to say Superman. Those Neal Adams and Nick Cardy covers blew me away. Loved every thing Neal Adams drew back then. Marvel, late 60's- mid 80's. Spider-Man, but always loved the Man called Nova and the Rom Spaceknight series. Writer Bill Mantlo basically used the main characters from the 1951 SF classic. The Day the Earth Stood Still and merged them to become Rom. With part of the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1956 and the alien from Alien/s too. I actually called and talked with Bill late brother Michael. Who confirmed my theory on what I just stated. Sadly Bill was left bed ridden after roller blading in 1992. He was a victim of a hit & run and the criminal was never caught. Mike even tried to track down any witness but found none. Very tragic and sad what happened to Bill. On Alpha Flight my favorite two were. Guardian, / Vindicator until they killed him off. Then Sasquatch always loved all the monsters as a kid too. Especially the Wendigo and Sasquatch. Man-Thing and even the Glob. If Mike Ploog drew it I bought it. Same with Bernie Wrightson's DC comics and very few Marvel's he did covers for.

It was about the Cosmic Vampire. I sold it long ago, but bought it again in the last five years or so. I love your channel and look forward to seeing more DC Comics. #3000
Another great video. I got a big smile from your acquisition of FF #46; that was the first FF I ever read. I was a child in the 60s, so it was a GREAT time to be a kid. To answer your question, my favorite DC character was Aquaman. While the Adam West Batman TV show was great, I loved the idea of a King of the Seven Seas, the concept of Atlantis (there was a popular song at the time about Atlantis, as well as a George Pal movie), and a GREAT Saturday morning cartoon about Aquaman. I also had the Captain Action figure with the Aquaman costume. Great memories! Thanks for the great videos. 3D man was a Kirby creation from the 50's during the 3D craze that never got used. Awesome haul! Great to get good stuff on the cheap.

Love just listening to you talk about comic books. I love comic books and I'm so lucky to have a older half brother that does also. He would buy them every week and when I would visit I got to sit there and read all of them when I was a kid in the 80's
