2 Saturdays ago I had my best dollar bin dive, ever. I hit a spot that I went to pretty regularly awhile back. I noticed they were not restocking, so I scaled back my visits. It is a used video game, dvd’s, vinyl albums, collectibles store. Comics get the least focus, and the workers know nothing about them. I had an errand to tun near there so I decide to stop in. I walk in the store, go back to the comics, and virtually the first comic I see is an almost pristine direct sales copy of “Batman Adventures” #12, back to back with a newsstand “Batman Adventures” #11, they had them bagged together for 5 bucks. Sweet!
I refuse to believe these are all dollar bin books.. How could a shop miss so many keys 😅 - what a fun find. I went through a “spec” shortbox I had a bit ago and had some gold I completely forgot about. Always fun to dig in your own boxes like it’s the first time
Those gems are out there in the dollar bins. I recently came upon a stash that was a 1st appearance galore. Apocalypse, Legion, Amanda Waller, Exar Kun, Thrawn, The Solo Twins, Metallo....hell even Pinhead ! I felt like a damn thief even after paying.
You'd be surprised. I bought a lot of nice key books from a guy at a con just this weekend who said it was his last con. He had many minor keys priced at 3 for $1 and higher end keys priced at 4 for $8 and 4 for $24 very good deals. I bought 75% of his books. He offered me a deal on everything, but I had no space in the car since it was full of luggage because the fam and I were on our way to vacation hahaha. Got a Justice League of America #12 for $6 can't beat it.
You should consider getting a tripod or camera stand for these videos, similar to how VaryGary does his videos, so you can comfortably flip through all these great long boxes with two hands. Great video and I wish I had your luck when it comes to finding these books at these prices.
Tower Comics don't turn up often and Fight The Enemy is an even rarer title. I used to find Batman: The 10 Cent Adventure all the time for next to nothing, wish I'd bought more copies. Amazing that 10 and 12 cent comics ended up in a dollar bin.
James, this is not a criticism, but if you take a chunk of books out of the box at the beginning it will become much easier to film and see each book as you’re going through the rest of the box. You wouldn’t have to pull each book out; you could just flip through them. Just a suggestion.
Have always loved that Man Of Steel 19 cover! But FYI, it's Doomsday's 5th appearance, not 2nd. 1st full was Man Of Steel 18, and 2nd-4th appearances were the Superman (74?), Action Comics (685?) and Adventures Of Superman (497?) issues that came out in between Man Of Steel 18 and 19.
To be fair this wasn't a comic shop - this dude is retired and actually specifically only gives these "dollar bin hauls" to actually vendors, shop owners, and others as a sort of way of giving back by offering us great deals. Support your local comic shop!
that dark force rising may be something to sit on as Ashoka season 2 or one of the other star wars shows may be doing that as it is the second part of the Thrawn trilogy
