Most reliable car I’ve ever owned. Had a 2005 Kompressor with 230,000 on it and it started up every morning in Michigan weather no problems. Wish I didn’t sell it

I have one and if you're going to buy one here are the things you must look out for.
DIY Heater Hose its on your left hand side when your looking in the hood on the fire wall connected to your water line/rail its called a Hvac Heater hose. Mechanics love this because its the invisible coolant leak and a easy fix and will charge you hundreds even thousands because they can change it and blame it on something else. The hose is $30.
The AC compressor has no clutch. So if ac fails its most likely the Freon to Low or way to much because it has a safety shut off. So dont fall for you need a new Ac compressor 1200 fix at a mechanic because its a bunch of work to reach it.
If you're buying a used one make sure the engine isn't leaking any oil anywhere because the M271 is highly reliable and hardly leaks oil , if its leaking oil that means its been abused or absolutely no maintenance.
The engine oil level, changing the oil you have 2 options Suck it out or drain plug Mercedes mechanics will insist you suck it out but thats a Myth and use that as a excuse to charge you $300.
Motor mounts transmission mounts will go out around 100-120k also the control arms. Do it yourself its not hard on the control arms. Motor mount trans mount take it to a mechanic will cost you around $800-$1000 its worth it the car basically becomes brand new again.
Watch out for Mercedes Mechanics they say the cars need experts to work on them but thats Bs.
Mercedes Mechanics are a rip off beware of them

I have a 2000 c230k and just picked up a 2005 c230k…the 2000 has 230xxx is my daily and I love it…the 2005 has 125,000 and I kinda like it so far. It was throwing a code for bank 1 sensor running too rich so idling super rough sometime and not getting full power and the AC wasn’t getting cold….I dropped it off at a pretty good local shop earlier….I have 2 questions ..which should i keep and which should I sell??? And bank 1 running too rich is that more than likely a sensor ?? Hopefully nothing major ??? Thanks

      @kurtcrafton ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@nolanryan3383 A bit late but this may help someone else. I am a former mechanic so take that as you will. As this is a 4 cylinder motor there is only one bank. Bank one running too rich can mean one of three things. Your primary oxygen sensor is starting to fail, you have a leaking injector allowing more fuel than the others, or your spark plugs are old and fouled and are unable to ignite the entire fuel mixture. At your mileage I would remove and replace all spark plugs before proceeding. If the fault condition sticks around after that, remove and inspect the spark plugs again. Each plug should have a similar golden brown color to it. If any spark plug is white or chalky looking, it means that cylinder is running lean, if any spark plug looks burnt or caked with soot, then that cylinder is running rich. If you see a problem with any spark plug the injectors should be in question. I would run some injector cleaner through the fuel system using premium gas before replacing the injector outright. If all spark plugs appear fine, replace the primary oxygen sensor.

I agree with Alex Mayer! The factory wheels are one of the major deciding factors in the look of the car.
Factory wheels for this car in my opinion look better than these.

    I have a 2004 c230 kompressor 1.8 sports supercharge, with 223,000 miles on it. 28mpg super economical.
Will never need parts. Only thing was to be replaced was a ac compresor.
Other than that is a monster in the road.
I will never sale my car.
I just change 500 dollars in parts, because I know after 200,000 miles maintenance is required so I can do 223,000 miles extra on it.
Best car Mercedes Benz ever built!!!!

I have the same scent in my 1998 bmw. You got it on the money! smells like melted crayons. Its due to the type of glue used on all the interior trim panels. 20 years later that glue is completely dried up and by this time headliner is sagging, door trip panels peeling off or rattling.

My friend has this exact model... It's a really cool car. And as much as anyone would want to say that is dated... It's really not. It holds up well. He custom made his head lights and people thought it was a much more recent model like '10 or something lol
He's even had pushed the car to it's paces and worked on it. Once on a road trip with myself and another friend... I'm 6'3 at the time was 250lbs and my other friend... I'll just say he's big. While my friend is a small 160/170 and on this road trip he left other cars in the dust that were newer that were trying to go faster than us. XD
    Lmao just get it.
Honestly I don't know if I want one myself or buy his old 300Z.

My dad owns a w211 E320CDI and i recently got a W203 C220CDI. Must admit both are economical for real. But the c class is a much better car for daily driving in a city. You can actually park it compared to the e class. Although when it comes to the open road E320CDI is like the go to car in my opinion. For 4000€ you can pick up a 100% working car and drive it on the open road. That 5 speed 722.1 is like bullet proof although it has a problem of leaking connector sleves that you shoud replace no matter what - its 20€ straight from the dealer and you can DIY it. Reason i got this mercedes is the pure fact that my dad was a workshop manager at mercedes when all of these cars were brand new. Also he got afactory star diagnosis for cars that were made under 2010 later for his shop so basicly its the cheapest car that is good and reliable and maintenance inexpensive i could get. All i did is that transmission sleave and a air pressur sensor on the intake

The melted crayon smell. It is possibly the coating that was used on the electrical wiring or plastics. Some European cars of this era wanted parts to be "eco-friendly". A drawback was, the coating would deteriorate, flake off too early in life and cause electrical shorts, blown fuses, electrical fires or a car that won't start and full of electrical gremlins.

There's no sport mode though, it's "standard" mode. And quarter, half, 3 quarters is the correct way, it's just not made for complete imb*ciles...

You could have known it was a Kompressor just by looking at the trunk big Kompressor sign. Stopped the video just about when comparing it to a Miata and having to google if it was a Kompressor.

My rx7 use to have a feature that if you left the center console open it would make the car smell like hugo boss. Because someone left a leaky bottle of hugo boss in it for several years. The smells long gone 10 years later. Now just smells like 2 stroke. Still smells good to me. I like my kompressor as well but it's not nearly às fast as my turbo rx7s. I have 2 now. I'm a car whore...
