    • @ausrace
      @ausrace 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sunroof and those bloody shades are weak points, check out all the videos about fixing this model. Shades snap/break and it all has to come out to replace. I have a 2007 C180 with both front and rear shades gone and sunroof non repairable (unless you have $6000 to spend on it and the shades will break again). Total garbage design for that period.

      @@ausrace I can attest to this. I have a 2003 c320 coupe and my pan sunroof will open about an inch and thats it. Also the shade doesn't work, I had to Manually close it because the car would turn into an oven in the summer. I didn't even bother getting an estimate because it will inevitably break again

      I think they only put that engine cover on the 2.3L. The 1.8L replaced the 2.3. The 1.8 is a smoother, more efficient engine- but lacked in tune-ability compared to its bigger displacement sibling.

      One of the idiosyncrasies of Mercedes nomenclature is that the model number (badge) does not necessarily match the displacement. There are many examples, like the 190 models of the '80s and '90s that were either 2.3 or 2.6L engines. In this case, in fact the engine is a 1.8L, not a 2.3. Apparently this is due to Mercedes' desire to pay homage to past models, in this case 230 models of years past. Confusing, yes, but this is a practice that Mercedes continues to this very day, when 63 models don't have 6.3L engines.
