It is still in the process of settling, and he still has a lot to learn about interpretation. With plenty of hard work and good guidance he will develop into a mature artist, which I'm sure we all hope. Gerard Souzay would be a good model in this repertoire.
I was going to mention that he made it through puberty with his voice intact. I think we all know what can happen there. It could have been the 👎 end! 😊
Hey Aksel, I am 15 and have been a baritone for about 2 years now, your singing and interpretation of your singing is absolutely phenomenal. It has inspired me to better singer and have been more passionate about what and how I sing. I couldn’t be more grateful to look up to someone close to my age and be inspired to do the same. I wish you and your family the best of luck handling the coronavirus and have a happy new year!
Elliot how nice you write that you were inspired by Aksel to work on your voice. You have achieved something phenomenal when it comes to emitting a beautiful, clean, deep timbre of your voice. So subtle in sound, delicate and so firmly embedded, supported on resonators, which makes it kind of round, full, juicy, natural, free, flowing straight from you to us. Nothing forced, nothing strained, nothing forced. For you it is singing, not like half recitations, a flat, non-colored, throat-nasal voice. Excessive, exaggerated emotionalism is not very effective. There is a saying The student has outgrown the master - the teacher, and you are an example of this. Bravo and congratulations. You are my new discovery. You can successfully compare you voice, sound, emission, to famous excellent singers - singers. You are still very young, so you have a lot of time to develop and enrich your voice, to enjoy everyone ... Piotr
Oh Aksel, the voice is settling in so deeply and truly; your characteristic vibrato, so unique, is still with you. God has given you other great assets as a Lieder singer; glorious, expressive eyes, and the ability to portray the lyrics in your face. (Birgit Nilsson always said that was essential to do). I discount the fact that you are a discouragingly beautiful young man to these old eyes. That, too, is part of your gift, so don't be embarrassed when people say that. Sing on, my dear Aksel, sing on!
Never ever, ever sing Schubert in any other language than German. So sweet and melodic, thoughtful and heart-rending and poignant - giving way to sudden harshness and portrayed angst - all so incredibly expressive in the gorgeous Germanic singing Schubert tongue - which Aksel sang so perfectly. Thank you
German is not even that easy to sing in. Or just requires a different technique. But does anyone really sing Schubert in any other language than in German? I would be surprised
I am a very old lady and have heard some extraordinary singers for almost a century, among the most gifted, and I am so glad to hear young most gifted singers develop. Aksel is one of the best two, together with the amazing tenor Jonathan Antoine, the very best since Alfredo Kraus. Congratulations and so many wishes for a wonderful Christmas in spite of the present problems and for a very rich year.
I really enjoyed the depth of feeling and expression in this song. The heartfelt longing comes through Aksel, in your voice and face. Have a peaceful and joy filled Christmas!
Beautiful, as ever, Aksel. Your singing of Schubert brings deep pleasure. You continue soaring above expectations. Thank you for this, and wishing you a happy Christmas and joyful 2021.
oh my goodness Akesl, you never disappoint, thank you! I think I first heard your Miserere Mei, and being a training soprano at the time having attempted that piece before, I was speechless and awestruck by you're clean tone and beautiful control! Thank you for continuing to put out uplifting classical music for us to enjoy! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
This Lied, sung by you, is an early Christmas present for me and brings me to tears. Your voice is really wonderful, and listening to you it is unbelievable that you are not a native German. The pronouncation is excellent, which is necessary for Lieder by Schubert. Congratulations to you for winning the prize!
That made my day, thank you! Would have been easier If I were a native German, but I find that coming from a small country we are really forced to learn other languages, which is very useful for classical singing, of course :)
I thought as much hearing Aksel live at Stolberg many moons ago. I really hope his musical education takes him to Germany for a sensible period - so much to learn and to experience.
@@charlesmorgan8440 Unfortunately I was not able to come to Stolberg, as I had to teach at the same point of time. Aksel is always welcome to Germany, but he has excellent teachers. He can only come if he finds a teacher of the same quality as in Oslo.
Yes! Though I am also not a native German speaker, but understand the language when spoken ( or sung 🙂) clearly, this young man's diction, pronunciation, and phrasing was SO perfect and easy to understand -- so essential in effective Linder singing. Thanks !!!
Formidabile, Aksel! La tua voce potente ed unica nel canto baritonale l'ascolterei all'infinito. Buon Natale a te e complimenti perché sei diventato ancora più bello, oltre che bravissimo!

Nossa!
Ontem era uma criança ,hoje está um rapaz . Grande , cantor.
Wonderful that the audience applause was held back a few seconds !
There needs to be a substantial moment of silence after the last note is played.
There is a good reason.
It has to do with the vibrations in the air that remain after the music stops.
The music is still radiating outward, outward and it needs a space of silence to move into.
The cacophonous beating of hands, the rowdy applause, beats it back and obliterates the afterglow that is absolutely necessary for the FULLEST enjoyment of the music.
The music needs to be surrounded by silence.
That way, it can be heard better.
It's like clearing the palate between courses at dinner.
At the end of a piece, the audience should hold back their enthusiasm for a few seconds.
Let the music melt away.
