Beautifully performed. Many child soloists seem to sadly disappear from the music scene as they become teenagers. It’s wonderful that we can continue to enjoy young talent such as Aksel Rykkvin who I am confident will continue to impress us always. Well done and all the best to him for the future.

@Geoff: There's a reason for this. Accomplished singing from a child is extremely rare. Accomplished singing from a teenager is not rare. Unfortunately, when these child soloists mature, their voices almost always turn out to be quite ordinary for someone their age.
@@golden-63 I can't agree. This voice (I would call it a boy baritone because of the global acceleration of boys' growing up) retains a very high purity after mutation (the number of non-harmonic overtones is much less than that of an adult baritone). Many experts believe that Aksel has a good chance of becoming an outstanding baritone (or tenor). Anyway, he's working hard on it now.
You and your parents deserve credit for not allowing you to be pushed into something inappropriate for your young voice, and allowing you to develop into a musician with range, control, and emotional sensitivity.
I would never have believed it if I hadn't heard it. A beautiful soprano and a even finer baritone. And not just technical skill. There is such measured emotion here. This is the best version of this song I have ever heard. It's wonderful to be around at the start of Aksel's career. If only Britten had been alive to hear this.
In The Great Caruso, there's a scene where Caruso (Mario Lanza) is singing Gounod's Ave Maria with a boys choir. At "Sancta Maria", one of the boys begins to sing with a splendid soprano : this boy, as unbelievable as it can seem, was a 15-years old Pavarrotti who then grew up to become the great tenor we know and admire.
Exquisite in every way. Your using your voice in service of the text (rather than using the music to showcase your voice) is what makes your singing so profoundly moving and utterly satisfying. Thank you.

Lovely performance, giving the text of the piece what it deserves and nothing more or less. This sounds as if it were often resting at your passaggio, such a hard area for a vocalist to train, supporting that mixed voice really does your beautiful voice justice.

Stunning, I'm sure that Britten would have been very pleased with your performance. I look forward to seeing you in a full length opera. Hopefully Die Zauberflöte!
I really hope he would have! Just some weeks ago I sang the part of Noye in a workshop version of Britten's opera Noye's Fludde , and that was also interesting. But yes, once in my life I hope to sing Papageno :)
@@AkselRykkvin Noyes Fludde is brilliant. Its a community work. Britten makes it easy to engage profesionals like yourself and amateurs in the same production . I first heard it at age 11. I'll use you as motivation to appreciate my richer voice.
You can sing those high notes with enough development! Don't be sad. The change is mostly for the better, the voice becomes more solid and reliable, and higher level skills become available (like a good trill, fioritura or just a nice vibrato...).
Very beautiful and sensitive. Thanks so much Aksel. God bless you.
I'm very glad that you made the new video
Yes, it was about time :)
Very impressive singer and performer showing great style throughout his singing career
Simply heavenly...thanks for sharing Aksel.😎
You are welcome , and thanks!
Beautiful and stunning performance, Askel!
My Mum and I travelled 600 km from the outback on the Ghan to attend a Festival of Arts in my states capital city. I saw it 50 years later and still found it funny.
Stunning phrasing from both artists 💙
Beautiful; thank you both.
Hello again from Alaska! Aksel... you continue to impress, amaze, and touch the hearts of so many people around the world with your beautiful voice, and the mastery you have gained over it through the years. I must confess to a bit of jealousy! When I listened to this, just a couple of minutes ago, your interpretation, and sensitivity to it's message, brought tears to my eyes (or maybe it was the onions in my breakfast omelet!). God bless you young man, and, don't forget to thank God above for the gift that He has given to you. Stellar performance as always!!
Always happy to hear that my singing can mean something. That is the point of it all, of course :) Thank you! And enjoy your omelet :)
@@AkselRykkvin Thank you for the reply! Also wanted to let you know that your rendition of Laudate Dominum that you perfrormed on 12/16/16 is my overall favorite of that piece. Have you had a chance to listen to the recording that was done of Lothar Zagrosek in 1956? That is my favorite from "back in the day". If not, you can listen to it here: th-cam.com/video/SkAibLrC48A/w-d-xo.html I would be interested in hearing your opinion of it. Blessings upon you!
I hadn't heard that one before. So beautiful, secure and strong voice! A little slow for my taste, forcing him to breathe here and there, but I know that was typical at the time. Thank you!
Beautiful interpretation. Beautiful voice.
Great to see you back in another video; I was afraid maybe soccer was taking too much of your time lately ;) Looks like I'm a little late here - pretty much every accolade and superlative has already been said (and all are well-deserved)....so I'll just say how really nice it is to hear you again and I hope you'll be sharing more. Soon.
A very sensitive performance by both of you. A good selection, and good English. There is a huge repertoire of English folk and art songs which can always use another good interpreter. I wish you much continued success.
Beautiful artistry. You have a very bright future.
You. Are. So. Musical!!!! Wonderful progress on your voice!
Your voice is better than ever. Just great You were always one of the great ones..
Bravíssimo Aksel maravilhoso!
Obrigado!
Als Junge hat es mir mit den Phrasen besser gefallen. Es klingt, als wärest du noch angestrengt… ? ( noch sehr viel möchte ich und andere hier in Deutschland von dir hören und sehen)
Your voice has more resonance, warmth, and maturity with each baritone posting, Aksel. Thanks for sharing your artistry. When are you coming to sing in the US?!
Great to see a new video from you and hear your very sensitive and nuanced interpretation of this Britten song! Your amazing baritone voice and musicality are continually developing and unfolding in such a wonderful way! Look forward to hearing more. Best always in your musical journey.
Thank you, very nice of you to say!
I was waiting for the notification. It's amazing !
Thanks!
Wonderful voice! Good bless this young singer. From Brasil
Divina voz, divina canción.
So beautiful Aksel - I thought you sang it so well at Stolberg, and this is better still, deeply imbued with emotion. I think it's the best so far of your baritone voice, tender and the odd rumble...Congratulations on your prize!
Thank you! Yes, I think I sang it better here than in Stolberg, but then again it was the only song I did, so I could go all in :)
@@AkselRykkvin Keep going all in, it's what makes you you!
Used to sing this at school 45 years ago! Beautiful! 💖💖
so nice that his voice got better as it matured!
Such a lovely, rich baritone voice! The phrasing and legato in this is absolutely gorgeous. Nice consistent tone and expression in this as well!
Godt å se deg Aksel og å høre deg igjen. Du har klart overgangen supert. Det er en nytelse å høre deg synge. Du er fremdeles fantastisk. 💖
Понимает, очень точно и эмоционально исполняет каждую фразу....
Als Junge war es besser….
