- In this episode, we take a look at another product from China. This product is called the "Arcade Box," and it can run on batteries!

Hey man! I got the pi4 version of this, And it’s awesome! I’ll prob do a quick vid on if, but is there a control shortcut to adjust the volume in game at all or something? There’s no dial on the outside… I’m still looking LOL
seems like a really cool unit! I'd imagine with that many extra USB ports you could probably hook up a second (or maybe third, fourth?) joystick for multiplayer action?
Yes, that's possible, also you can connect a bluetooth controller b.e. for better playing playstation games

I've built some similar Raspberry Pi 3 portable units in cases. First one was a case with a 13'' monitor and joy stick button combo and my newest is a 10" monitor, a battery with a GameSir G3S contoller. I can get a 3 or 4 hours of game play on the 10" build.
I’m building a 10 inch as well. Single player 8 button system. What batteries did you use or kit installed?

The only thing this is missing is a link cable / wifi play feature so you and a friend can do fighting / rpg games together.

Warren Edwards Unfortunately there’s not a games list that I can find. A lot of these systems don’t come with games lists. I would imagine it’s due to a huge gray area with some of the roms it contains.
I want! I kinda want to build my own, but this is a lot easier.
Do you have a tutorial on how to add rooms to this? I got one after seeing your video and I love it

Ralph, are you able to upgrade to the latest release 6.1.1? I did but after it is done it was just a black screen. Any suggestions?
Is their a save game feature for the console games? You stated it includes a 32g card but the description says a 64g card. Can you confirm this.

What is the difference between the Sanwa and the normal buttons?
Do you know what the color option mean? You can choose white, red and so on but I think the Arcade is always black at the outside? Thx
for 211 they should have had usb out and two way hinges so you could lay the screen down flat and use it as a regular joystick.
Retro Ralph sounds great, but cause I’m such a Raspberry Pi fan, I used a Raspberry Pi 3B with a device called Pi Game Hat, and it also turns it into a portable handheld arcade, with one battery, lasting a good while. But I love the bigger screen with Retro Ralph. Great video 👍👍👍

Ive seen a few of these. I was following things like this a while back. The original one is made by this crazy expensive company. They do these insane beautiful wood designs and this wasn't there only product they had a ton of stuff but it def looked like it was aimed at rich people or people with money to burn but very cool. I've seen a couple including this since pop up. Theres a cheap one on Wish too. I was suprised this had Sanwa and even a pi3 inside it, not sure what the others had. There is a guy who reviews the original one I saw on YT. When I got my pi3 a couple years back I was looking at coffee table arcades and arcades that u can rotate the monitor for shmups and theres this other website too that does these cool arcades that almost transform, really cool stuff, can modify them heaps. But def awesome and nice thorough review m8!!!! PEACE
The guy that makes the original ones is a rip off, $3,000 ex vat ex shipping!!!! These are $200!!!

i bought a cheap 10 dollar fake sanwa joystick on amazon and it's printed "sanwa" on the bottom base.
I can assure you these are real. I buy enough of these things to know the difference, I can assure you they are real Sanwa. They play VERY well and I'm pretty happy with it. I played so long on it that I had to rush to edit the video. Anyhow... Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
True.. he can’t really detect. From china 1% of chance to have a genuine sanwa
I have one as well. Came it a buttons kit. I swapped them out for real ones and it’s very noticeable in fighting games. The fake ones are nearly impossible to tell other than feel.
Lobo's Top 5 The ones that it came with feel authentic but I could be wrong. I will play a few more fighters on it and compare. Thanks for the feedback.

Looks very interesting... Wanted to build one myself.. But a lot of hustle.. Had to order all the parts separately. What size of memory card is in there? Should be a 32gb card at least when I see the recalbox build on it.

How’s the sound? Some games looked really really blurry(ninja turtles towards the end), was that the screen or the video? Did it look sharp to you? Great vid by the way.

Can it do netplay? I mean if you have two of them and if there is netplay, you can be having a fighting game with two machine just like the ones in Japan. Raspberry Pi 3B should have a built in wifi.

Awesome device, what was the battery life like for you? How long did they last vefore you had to charge them?
I got about 2 hours out of it. Admittedly I didn’t charge the batteries to 100%. I would say you may be able to squeeze between 2-2.5hrs out of it. Thanks for watching man! 👍🏻

Is it possible to plug this into the TV?
It is a 2 player box. 1 player can play using the controller and the other player can use a usb or wireless controller.

With genuine Sanwa parts I think it's a really cool buy. How is the the quality of the hinges on the lid?
The hinge is actually very strong and sturdy, I'm really surprised overall with how good thing thing is!

seriously,the more i hear about it the more im tempted to buy it .i built many arcade cabs (even micros,very similar to this).but this one is like super portable.the screen closes and everything.and for that price,it would cost me more if i made it myself (sanwa parts+refurbished 10 inch laptop screen+raspberry pi+a pcb for the stick and buttons).does it run ps2 and taito x?if it manages to run cvs2 on dc it should run ps2 2d fighters as well
Hey man... you might need to pass if you want to run PS2 games. It's a Raspberry Pi 3B so it's not that powerful. If you're just looking to run arcade games and some 8-bit and 16-bit consoles than it's perfect for that. Dreamcase is not full speed on most games. I hope this helps, thanks for watching!

I've ordered one! Mine has Pandora's Box 5, however I have raspberry pi 3 b+ with retro pie, do you know if I can swap it out for the raspberry pi, or if I can swap Pandora's box 5 that's in it for Pandora's box 6? I presume pandora for pandora is easier!
Stormy Daniels swapping the PB5 for a 6 should be simple. It should effectively be plug and play. To put a Pi in would require encoder boards and a lot more modification.

I've seen 3 different reviews of these and every one of them is different. The i/o panel is where it seems to be most noticeable.

If you didn't have a pool here you would bascially die in the summer. Apartments have pools, Communities have pools, houses have pools... so yeah... it's a total Arizona thing. I bought the same box, can you please tell me how to adjust volume when sometimes the volume control button sometimes suddenly switches to brightness control for the screen? It then switches back to volume control after a restart
david0ade I haven’t actually experienced that problem. I will tinker with it this week and see if I can recreate the problem you’re having. So it fixes itself after a reboot? Does the behavior pop back up after some period of time?
@@RetroRalph Yes, it's very random, it switches back and forth to either Volume control or Brightness control although the Brightness control has no effect on the screen no matter how much you adjust so it has been pointless, it becomes a problem when you wanted to adjust volume but it becomes brightness adjustment
Would be nice to mention if the screen is wash out at side angle?
What you see on camera is actually my studio lighting reflecting off the screen. The screen looks pretty good from the front and from the sides, it's not the most fantastic screen in the world, but it's good for the price. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. I haven’t tested one in a while but I know they make several versions of this now. There’s a Pandora’s box 3D version that’s out now. I think it might be worth checking out. Have you played with Pandora’s box boards before?
