Retro Ralph I have a recroom masters cabinet with a Raspberry Pi. I’m thinking about switching to Coinops. One feature I do like on my setup is swapping controllers. I installed 2 USB ports on the front of my cabinet and can plug in retro style controllers if you want to use those instead of the arcade sticks. If nothing is plugged in. It defaults to the arcade sticks. Is this possible/easy to do with Coinops? Loving your Coinops content.

Love the idea of a simple, murphy bed inspired, wall mount arcade setup. What if there was a folding shelf control panel below the monitor. Folds flat on the wall until needed then just raise it into place. Further, for pinball, pull it forward (aka reverse murphy bed style) and the playfield/monitor is now parallel to the floor, pinball style and the control panel comes with it. Engineering is all that's left to make this a reality setup. Awesome possibilities with this. Near plug and play.
I was considering a 32 inch arcade cab for awhile. Then a few years ago I found the vertical overlays but never thought of a 42 inch vertical arcade. Maybe I'll just build a pedestal with the vertical image 😁

I actually have a similar wall arcade set up with a smaller 20” rotating dell monitor and two hori RAP sticks. Nintendo switch dock and standard arcade image running on a raspberry pi. This is why I love this channel! I had no idea someone made an image specifically for a seamless arcade /pinball vertical set up. I’m definitely going to consider a larger flat screen now that they incorporate horizontal games along with a digital marquee. It keeps everything minimalist and looks so clean! I will definitely be looking forward for updates on v2!!
Thanks, bud, I appreciate the comment. I will make sure to post Pinball vs. Arcade v2 information as soon as it's available. I think it should be out in the next two weeks. I might do a video in the meantime just showing how to add the horizontal games to the current image, but I just figured with an official build around the corner, it might make sense to wait. Or it could be me being lazy... either way... I will let everyone know ASAP. Thanks again for all your support man, it's much appreciated
Awesome Video Ralph - I love the vertical coverage and Coinops! There is a Pinball vs Arcade loaded that has FX3 and pinball arcade, I talked to the creator on Discord, it still has some issues, but I will be trying that out on vpin cab

This is super cool idea! I use coinops on my modded original 1st gen Xbox. I think that for people with limited space such as apartments that can't have Arcade 1ups or full size arcade machines will love this

So on my days off I thought I would try and set up Pinup popper, Future Pinball and Visual Pinball as a desktop setup. Man was I thrown into the deep end. I got things mostly working except lining up pup packs etc, but it took BOTH of my days off to get going... After watching this video, I’m totally gonna steal the bedroom TV and mount it to the wall next to my ALU. 😂
You can get tv mounts that swivel from horizontal to vertical. So you could have separate setups for horizontal games and vertical games. Plus you could then use the tv as a tv when youre not playing games.

Just downloaded the coinsops image on my old Desktop (i7, gtx660 16gig Ram) seems to run everything smoothly, although I haven't tried PS2 yet!
Looking forward to downloading more packs for it, especially the vertical/pinball games!

Awesome vid, Ralph! You should see about creating a low profile cabinet style housing with arcade controls. Kind of akin to an iCade, but thinner, and maybe make the cp fold down when not in use.

I'm doing a bartop-size Tempest for this build because the cabinet style is perfect for doing a marquee-less cab that also has pinball!

The Quarter Arcades Pac Man machines by Numskull are now only $130 on Amazon. I think that's a great deal.

Also wanting to make a pedestal control deck with a big screen on wall. that seems perfect
I might work on a small pedestal project and showcase it on the channel, it would be a nice complement and you could technically unplug it and move it out of the way when not in use. Are you going to build one yourself?
Retro Ralph yes that’s what i mean. i like having the A1U cabs there but i think a nice pedestal in the middle with a flat screen on the wall would be cool. Also having it so you could hook up the wii in different input like you did and make it a shooter set up as well. that’s my current DIY project right now. trying to figure out logistics.

i'll be really cool if they add like the "coinops next style" and with that one could add like, idk, future pinball or fx3 collection, or even the horizontal games when they're available. I think this build looks awesome but i dont know how easy could be to add more separate collections.

yo, CoinOps is the best! been using it for over a year now on PC and the pinball vs arcade is great! was curious about which TV you have mounted and where is the sound coming from? the bottom of the tV?

Whoah this is so cool!! What about combining the two?? Get a half cabinet (a cabinet that's half the width of a normal cab or using the wall hanging ones of 1-up's), shorter tv to display just the game and bezel, and a separate "special" sized monitor to just display the marquee graphics.. So that way you get the best of both worlds!! But would it be doable?? Can you split the screen up to just display what you want?? Maybe by dual displaying the same video out from a PC and "stretching" the video past the display area to cut it off.. Maybe possible. 🤔🤔 IDK, I'm just thinking out my ass to put a full cab in a small space..

Thank you for posting.. I have much more interest in something like this. A great arcade series of controllers, arcade roms and plugged into my 4K tv. Think Xbox One with ARcade ROMS and separate arcade controllers. 1 for Asteroids. 1 for PAC Man, 1 for Missile Command.. 1 for Temmpest, Lunar Lander etc. Parts list or kit packages would be great if anyone wants to dive into it. I was thinking of getting the Arcade1Up parts for the different games.. like Asteroids.. and converting it to something along those lines for my Xbox series or pick up a windows machine for ROMs.
I want to mount that above my toilet in my master bathroom lol 😆

I think I put the PC in the show notes, if not, let me know and I can give you the specs. You can pull this off with an old i5 with a basic graphics card, nothing too crazy or expensive.
@@RetroRalph yeah a decent 3rd or 4th gen i5 will do the biz ( desktop versions ) and something like a GTX1050ti will run even the most modern FIghter games too

I was wondering the same thing I didn't see any cables dropping off the back of the TV to the computer.
You are using a laptop in this demo, in your description you list a optiplex and a 1030 graphics card. Will that be enough to power this? I am thinking of using this in a custom pinball / vertical arcade build. Second question, do you know if Pinball games support cabinet mode? I want to add a small 7-9 inch screen to function as DMD.
Hey great video...I'm a complete noob when it comes to arcade builds. I'm making my first attempt at a pedestal cabinet. My question is about monitors. Does it matter if the monitor i choose is a traditional computer monitor or can I go with a 40 inch LED tv like I plan on doing? Im also thinkinh of hanging the TV with a rotating mount that will allow for quick change from horizontal to vertical. Will the computer pick up the change in orientation?
let me know what mount you use to rotate freely and how you stop or lock in in each position. You can change settings in MAME for the vertical games to be rotated (I think)
TV is the same as a monitor-- as long as you have HDMI you're good to go. The computer will have no way of knowing how your TV is oriented. There are probably difficult ways to get that to work, but with this setup specifically, it won't matter because Windows itself is going to be running in horizontal mode either way... So like even if you're running this vertical image, Windows will be turned 90 degrees on your screen if that makes sense. If you were to rotate the TV into horizontal mode, you'd just want to run a different build of CoinOps that is made for horizontal orientation.
I've been wanting something like this to build. It should work with an x arcade tank stick shouldn't it?
How can I get into the menu to turn off the screen filters? The scan lines are nice but the dirty tv filter I would like to turn off. Thanks for any help!

Installed coinops next yesterday. When i try to load a game, it goes to a blackscreen and then back to the game select menu. Dunno what to do...

Beginner here.. I can't get this to work. Do I need to download MAME separately and the ROMS or is it all built into CoinOPS?
MAME, all emulators and roms are built in - log on their discord for help
All built in, nothing to download but the CoinOPS software itself via torrent. (Echoing what @zehfox said below).

@@mutanthorrorshow It could be because you need to unblock certain files from your antivirus software. Check out the FAQ on the discord for instructions, and you should also download directly from back-ups.me anyway, not Arcade Punks for this particular build.

Pinball vs. Arcade but if you want the arcade horizontal games download Pinball vs. Arcade vs. Consoles, it's on backups. I hope this helps!

Try using InputMapper, which "fakes" a 360 controller.
I use a regular cheap none Xbox controller and it works just fine.
Figured out my Xbox controller is the old version. I need the new version for it to work I think.
How do you have the laptop connected to the TV? Wires running through wall? Wireless HDMI?
I should have showed that (I always miss something), I'm just running the wires through the wall.
A Wallcade doesn’t take up a lot of space too. Where’s the Favorite section? If you 5,000 games , you’ll be scrolling forever.
