- Oh my gosh, what a day!! I went beach metal detecting with my trusty old Minelab Equinox 800 metal detector, and had an exceptionally lucky day, finding a gold and silver jewellery spill, historic Australian coins and a few other surprises. It is almost as if the beach were welcoming me home... ❤️

@@DirtFishMishIts been a top day! and ive been wasting it weeding and trimming the garden, looks better, but just isnt as much fun! Another one of those jobs that are neglected when theres detecting to be done, no finds yesterday! The previous days I had been searching in the long grass and at home and the car for my lost GoPro it was missing for 2 days, On the way home after my search, i could hear a rattling noise coming from outside the car, thinking it was my muffler that i had recently repaired. until i pulled into the driveway, and I had the thought, did I leave it on the car roof, which I didn't believe, as it is something I never do, except this time, somehow , I had!. How it stayed there for 2 days ill never know, it couldn't fall of the side's because of runners along the roof's edge which also hid it from view, but front or back, easy peasy! and it hadn't been drenched in rain either, it was a major relief! because i didnt have to buy a replacement, and i could stop searching. So the story has a happy ending. and you dont have to read any more of it. Yay! says Mish. Take care and Cheers!

Hi, looking in from San Diego, California. I found a 14k yellow gold ring once with a detector, this was forty years back.
Thanks so much for your channel Mish. Have been wanting to get out and amongst it with my wife for a long time. Have just pulled the trigger on the Nox 800. Love the upgrades you’ve installed on yours! Can’t wait for it to arrive and hit our local Gold Coast beaches!
That's amazing!! Congratulations on the new acquisition. The Equinox 600 & 800 (yes, I had both 😂) served me well. While I may have moved on to different machines these days, the same logic still applies across the vast majority of coin and relic machines - a high number (on that machine's scale) corresponds to a highly conductive target eg. copper/silver/large aluminium, a lower number is a lower conductive target eg small jewellery and GOLD. You'll want to dig up all 21-22 signals as that's where the $1 and $2 coins will be hiding - may as well pay off the machine. :)
As for the upgrades, Detect-Ed actually have a package deal that includes all of the exact components I have on this machine, as well as some extra coil washers and the cap that I wear everywhere. The lever lock shaft is a game changer - no more sand stuck in the pins of the original shaft when you try to adjust it! Howdy Mish, That jewelry spill was amazing. You can imagine someone taking off all their precious stuff and laying it on the sand so they don't lose it in the sea. Than some bloke comes by in his Aussie work shoes and flip flops sand all over them. My oh my. You come along awhile later and dig it all up. Fun stuff with lots of other great finds. Absolutely happy for you, Mish. Yes, that gold and silver jewelry dump was incredible, but since I know how much you love your Florins, that is what really made me lean back in my chair and smile. Congrats on that! A goldie, and a few pre-decimals on top of that too? I can see why you were basically speechless at the end. And let's not forget the traditional sinkers! Your other recent video was lacking in sinkers and that was pointed out to you by several of your regular viewers and fans. The video just wasn't the same. Lovely seeing you again Mish !! I too have recently had a really good day at the beach in Nelson , NZ ! Very recently lost Im pretty sure , but a 18ct white gold ring with 10 little diamonds ! Maybe an engagement ring , I tried to find the owner with no luck , so its with the police , might get it back in a month or so , but its engraved so Id rather get it back home !

Hi Mish fun video and you did really good today. It would be gratifying to find the owner of the bracelet and rings. I wanted to give you one last update on Hurricane Ian hitting the town I live in. When the storm hit land the water was 12 feet above normal and destroyed everything in it's path for miles. When the water receded it pulled all that debris, broken glass, cars, construction material along the beaches and out into the Gulf Of Mexico. This is going to harm the environment and sea life for years plus the people that just want to swim or go diving. that is so sad to me. Thanks for the videos
Wow, that’s devastating. I’m so sorry. There are flooded regions around my state at the moment (not where I am) and it is only just this week that we are starting to receive warm weather, the wettest October on record for our state if I recall. Very strange times. Stay safe mate.

Where you detect is one of my all time favourite places to be. I do try and get there often to just ponder and beach comb. To think whats under my feet is our history, makes me happy and watching you find all those old coins is amazing and thanks to you for saving some of our past. Love what you do.

Not gonna lie, Mish - I had a good chuckle over your sly explanation of why the XPDII was taking the day off. 😎 But I too, am a huge Minelab fan, and there's always room for one of their excellent machines at a hunt...in fact, it might be time for me to arrange a checkup for my Excal II.
Your thongs are such a low profile, that at first, I thought you were actually detecting barefoot. I know a few folks that do, but that's more risk than I'll personally take, especially with the OPEN folding knives I've dug, just under the sand! Even if I'm not going in the water, I'll usually wear thick soled dive boots. The bracelet/multi-ring combo was pretty awesome, and it was great that you were able to wrap things up with some older coins, especially the silver! I'll always envy my Aussie and Brit detecting counterparts their generally greater amount of LARGE coinage, and more extensively circulated larger denominations. It's fairly rare for U.S. detectorists to dig dollar coins, of any era. Americans still really haven't become accustomed to their usage, and either avoid them, or put them in their dresser drawer, figuring "that'll be worth something, some day!". With very rare exception, the answer is "Nope" 😆
When the government finally realizes they need to terminate the U.S. $1 bill (and the penny!), we'll finally start digging the dollar coins on a regular basis.
P.S. The limited edition A-Z coin concept is pretty neat, although I literally flinched a bit when you found the Zed version, and I saw "ZINC" boldly on the coin which, I realize is in regard to zinc based sunscreen....but as you may or may not know, the U.S. one cent coin has been all zinc with a very thin copper plating, since 1983...and they turn to GARBAGE quickly, in the environment, especially SALT environments. Oh well, such is the life of a detectorist, right? Keep digging the good stuff!

Thank you Susan! No luck yet, I did a lot of work trying to find details matching the other inscription as well as local searches for Billy James with no luck. Our area is subject to seasonal tourism and so it is possible they are not local, but I’ll keep their items safe and who knows, perhaps a viewer will be able to put us in touch. You just never know when the conversation will arise! Cheers 😊

Two of my favorite detectors out of the 14 I own are the E-trac and CTX.
I like the fact they added some of the features of the CTX.

Ahhh the smell of rotting seaweed, you know that you are at the beach. Awesome recovery, it would be good if those rings etc get back to the owner. They were probably having a great day until they realize they lost that lot. Lucky that they were all together.

Vinegar works well, but overall depends on the composition.

The biggest change is that I don’t use this detector anymore 😅 I mostly use the Nokta Legend on the beach, in Beach Multi-Wet mode. But for the Equinox - Beach 1 for dry sand and stable wet sand, Beach 2 once the ground was too wet or chattery for Beach 1. They’re both great machines. Happy hunting 😁
Have you done some snorkeling with the 800 ?
Hi there, Silverstripe! Short answer: a little bit! I did in the past, a few years ago -- I don't think I have any 'nox snorkelling on my channel though as they were a couple of recovery missions that I didn't film at the time. The only underwater Equinox video on my channel I believe is one where I was testing the BLU3 Nemo - th-cam.com/video/etnCa-pakBI/w-d-xo.html - it was in a rock pool though so I only found a couple of sinkers. While it is a fantastic beach machine, I'm not fond of the 600/800's track record with it's waterproofing so I didn't like to take the control pod underwater very often.
Shortly after that video, I acquired an Excalibur II for a while and eventually traded that in towards a Deus 2, which is my diving machine of choice today as it is both light and submersible to 20M/60ft. My alternate machine is now the Nokta Legend and the 800 is my husband's machine.
