    Miles of white sand in both directions, to the right 30 odd miles away could be our Mahia, East Coast North Island NZ..
    Your beach looked very much like the Wainui beach East of Gisborne, and the razing sun.
    All the activities you described is also what takes place at Wainui except to your left, North would be to Wainui Sperm Whale graves and ideal country out front for free diving.
    I just popped in to see what you're up too and your right nature gives you all the treasures fantastic views, it's a wonder fish can't be seen swimming though the waves like here.

    Just wanted to thank you. My granddaughter and I went to the beach for the first time. We watched you before we went, and we followed all your advice, and we got 4 cycles plus a few more. Found a Texas tack, murcary dime, 2 other silver dimes. You helped us a lot.

    I wish I had thought to mark my husband and my findings with where we were when we found what. I did mark which one of us found what but don't remember where we were on all of them. He past away in april of this year and he took that information with him. I loved your video. I have watch several today and subscribed. Thank you for making such real videos. so many make videos but I don't always subsribe. We have been detecting for many many years and always enjoy videos where they actually know what they are talking about. Keep going and I will keep watching because you have made an old[er] woman very happy today. Thank you, mary

    Watching on the tv today. Grew up spending my summers at San Onofre...my dad was a marine so we would take our travel trailer down when school got out and pack it up before school started. Easy access to trestles hoping the nuclear plant wouldn’t blow and we would go out for miles it seemed during low tide. Absolutely no supervision that I can remember as my mom always had her nose buried in a book. Those were the days

    Question ❓❓ have you ever magnet fishing? Just in case you don't know what I'm referring too. Get a big magnet, rope, gloves, you go out to waterways, lake, Bridges. Make sure to tie off the rope or you will lose it. Whatever you find is yours. Cool beans.

    New subscriber from Virginia. Why do you always want to find a nickel? My daughter worked very hard to pay for her own class ring
    We lived on a property with an old mill and the kids played basketball on the top floor. She took off her ring and couldn't find it. My husband rented a metal detector, bit all he found were the cut nails holding the building together. She never did find her ring. Broke my heart. I love it when you return rings.

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nickels are very similar to gold rings but I play a game each time I hunt trying to find a cycle which is a penny, nickel, dime and quarter. It is a way to stay entertained while detecting for several hours. They is very sad to here she did not recover it, the good news is it can still be found if you know the general area. Modern detectors are much easier and more accurate to use. I hope for a happy ending and she finds it eventually. Thank You 👍

      Awesome Gary, you can use that pass at Aliso and Calafia parking lots. Two of my favorite beaches to park, jump out of car and start detecting. Calafia is part of San Clemente State Beach. FYI - sand is being pushed back onto parts and eroding other parts, so targets a plenty there, right now. Congrats on the gold earring. 💎💎👍 Thank you!

So what’s the stuff about gem stones n Jim stones n time or something. Idk. But I’d love to learn. You find a lot of neat stuff. I’m sure there’s lots of miles n mishaps you don’t show. Catalina Island has a great view at Sunrise. Certain beach shapes allow for beautiful Sunrise views but since the Sunrises in the East seeing it rise over the Ocean is all about the angles. Lol!

    I really enjoy watching you find your treasures. I just got a metal detector for Christmas and am practicing around town. Question... What is the purpose you have the orange noodle pieces tie wrapped to the shovel end of your sand shovel?

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  ปีที่แล้ว

      orange noodle protects my hands and feet from the sharper edges of the u-bolts and corner braces of my beach scoop. I really only use it on the CKG Tank Scoop.

    What are you putting in your tumbler other than water and media? As I recall, it's possible to tumble copper and copper plated zinc together with clad, without leaching any of the copper over to the clad. Simple Green will DEFINITELY make it leach over. In most cases, I usually just use a little bit of dish soap. I can see the concern with potential silver getting a little copper washed but, honestly, I'm really not concerned if it happens to clad.

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does not matter what solution I use, If I clean copper or zinc pennies with clad or silver it causes the leaching. Best cleaner I have found is CLR or lime away works great on our ocean encrusted coins.

    Is tumbling the only way to clean the coins? I've got 20lbs of corroded coins in a bucket that I'd like to cash in but don't necessarily want to invest in a tumbler. You can't tumble the pennies with the clad? Thanks, Love your videos.

    You gotta walk a mile and a half to get to the beach????? Yowl!!!! I'd rather spend that time detecting rather than walking. Although, there is a place I go to that is a little over a mile to get to it. After detecting for 3 or 4 hours, that walk back to my car seems like a lot longer than a mile.

    Have traveled so much this month I have several I have to watch all the way through. Just wanted you to o know why I have went back and check some of my time stamps. I have a question. Why do you sometimes tap your coins on the scoop? Is it to remove extra sand or some other reason?

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      coin tap started in the early 1980's with my dad, he would find a quarter and knock the sand off really loudly to get my attention. So I returned the favor and developed a bad habit. Lol! I hope it is not too annoying! Thank you!👍
