Well I've been swing a VLF since the Garrett Ground hog was state of the art, that's 45 years. Mostly in Western Australia but I now live in Tasmania, my thing is nugget hunting in the goldfields and I rarely watch a 47 minute video especially if it's not nugget hunting but I watched all of this one. This is all you need to know about the nox 800 for relic hunting, nothing more to say. If you're a nugget hunter in highly mineralized ground, just slow down, ground balance often, use the factory settings where you can, don't be afraid to turn the sensitivity down and in severe ground you may have to notch discriminate the ground mineralization. Refer to Steve Herschbach's guidelines, for relic hunting watch this one again ! One more thing, I believe the Equinox 800 is the best VLF machine on the market, it's going to be hard to top it.
Thank you John for the view and fantastic comment! Yes, 47 mins can be brutal. I'm trying to get better with every video I do to not be boring or repetitive and get to the point. I have been at this for 38 years but you me beat! A couple of old, grizzled detecting vets we are! You say this is the best VLF machine on the market, I totally agree for gold. I like my Minelab Gold Monster 1000 for VLF but this Nox 800 is just a bit deeper. My Gold Monster has paid for itself many times over. Now if I can just get my GPX-6000 to pay for itself! I will try to find Steve Herschbach's guidelines and check them out!! Thanks again for checking in from down under! All the best! Mark
@@BrassMedic Hey Mark I don't run a GM 1000 but from what I've seen on other channels, Nugget Shooter Journals for instance, the GM may have a slight advantage for gold. As of last summer I've taken up sniping, Tasmania is a great place for that with some pristine rainforest rivers, so I went for the nox as it's waterproof, I love it, a very versatile machine. I will checkout your nugget hunting video later. As to your GPX-6000 I heard from my cousin last week, he had a dryblowing set up at Reedy in Western Australia for many years we, hammered the area for years, he's retired but went back there with his wife last month with 6000's, 12oz. between the two of them in 2 weeks. He is impressed with the performance so I'm sure you can make it pay. Happy hunting, John.
When I call someone over to check on my signal is great, What is now so great is when they swing over the target, and swing over the target, and swing over the target, change direction and swing over the target! Now they are Wasting my time as the swing over and over the same target. Swing a couple of times and move on. I love metal detecting and the adventures it brings:) And yes on the way back to the truck/car I have several times found the find of the day :) Another day another adventure
What a great tip video.! I learned so much from your skill with the Equinox 800, the machine I now own. I live in a remote small town with only myself to detect with. I have lived in Glendale Oregon for 6 years, and just this summer found a fellow 800 owner who just purchased his machine. I will share your video with him. We only hunted once and I had to walk him through the set up. I’m excited to try all the tips you have shared. I started with a Garrett AT Gold detector for 4 years, loved it, but my new Equinox is so much more, and a lot to learn. Thank you so much. Gary
Hi Gary, I really glad to hear that you found this video for you and your buddy. Don't forget to do the update on the Minelab site for the Equinox 800. Yes this machine is a huge upgrade to the AT Gold and the Equinox 800 is also one of the best VLF gold detectors available as well if your looking for mostly gold. I know your little town as when I lived in Newport, OR my son played baseball games with Newport HS in Glendale. An absolutely beautiful town! Best of luck to you two! Check back in after you try these settings! 🤠
I'm pretty close to you and yes the 800 is a fantastic machine and you will do very well with it! Thank you for watching the video and for your comment
Hey @Brassmedic hope you and your family are having a great Christmas, just picked up the equinox 900 yesterday so was wondering if you could do a pro tip video on the 900. I also picked up the Garrett AXIOM 3 weeks ago. Keep up the great content
Too funny! Yeah sorry I brought it to your attention but I guess I just had to say something, especially when talking about best use of time and productivity. Thanks for the view and comment! 🤠
My best 2 Finds in Aussi are 1: 3/4 Ounce Gold Nugget in Qld with a Whites 6000-Di Pro. 2: $187.30 in Coins in a Park in 70 Minutes with my Equinox 800. If you are looking for small Gold for cheap try the Minelab Gold Monster 1000, mine is amazing.
Wow, nice finds! That amount of coins in 70 mins is absolutely mind blowing! Yes I agree, my Minelab Gold Monster 1000 has paid for itself many times over. Thank you for your view and comment!
Great vid, prob the best I have seen. Took me 2 years to work this out, so will save beginners a heap of time. Couple of things maybe to add: I find with the Nox it is signal cleanliness that delivers - squeaks are (usually) always sign of mixed metals. Prob the most important thing of all I find is to do very short swings over the object (at several angles) to check that the ‘x that marks the spot’ stays in one place. You do this perfectly in the vid, but never mentioned it. Iron x’s wander. Could be another ‘7’ rule ie a seven inch swing, 7 times. Only thing I would avoid is the keep the Nox in pinpoint mode, as in this mode it will pick up nails or other crap that was being ignored before, and u may bluff yrself into thinking that was the target… Another good one is if a signal disappears - to get the carrot in the hole as it may have fallen out of range of the Nox.. Happy days 👍❤️
Thank you for the view and kind comments!! This is also the case with my Minelab CTX-3030 as well as far as the X staying in one spot. Also Iron gives a slightly delayed signal to the ears whereas a coin for example is a quick and sharp response. Good point about the pinpointer mode as you could null the real, desirable signal out by swinging out and over a co-located iron target. 😬 Thanks again for watching the video!! 🙏🤠
This video should be loaded on to a USB thumb drive and packaged with every new Nox 800 purchase. Thank you for your time in putting this together, first class content and I urge every detectorist to watch it.
I've had my Nox 800 for a couple of years now and found lots of cool things (no silver yet, sigh...). I got permission from a friend to detect around a ruin on his farm. It's the bottom 1-2 feet of a walled structure made of hand hewn rock/brick. When we started, we quickly found a buried trash pit. Also, during WWII, this farm was part of an Army base. My kids and I were there yesterday (after taking lots of things from the 30's over the past year or so) and thought there wasn't much more to find. We found several mason jar metal lids that have these cool glass or ceramic lid liners in them and ring up like nickels. I found a buffalo nickel in an area that I have covered before. At the end of this video, you talk about detecting on the way back to the car. I did that yesterday and got a good signal and began digging. I uncovered a bit of metal strap I thought (light was bad as it was getting on towards evening) and it wasn't rusted. I was thinking copper or zinc. I didn't want to pry it and have it break so I started taking off a lot of dirt from the top in the direction the strap was running. In doing that, I came across an Coca Cola bottle from the 30's or earlier! Then I was able to remove the "strap". It turned out to be a butter knife! Appears to be made of copper. The blade said "Rogers Nickel Silver" so I guess it was silver plated. But what a great way to end the day just by swinging on the way back to the vehicle! Fantastic tips that I will use on my next trip out there! Lots of iron there... pulleys, axe heads, other farm stuff....
Yes it's so common that almost everyone has a story about an incredible find on the way back to the car. As long as you do your diligent research, you will find a good site where you can find your first silver coin. Here's the secret... Be the first detectorist ever to find a spot. In other words, a virgin site that has never been detected! You will find silver! Also go to an older park and listen for high conductors that are very quiet and deep, beat chance for silver! Best of luck. Thank you for the view and comment!
Great video, really great tips! I studied the EQX 800 while it was on order a couple of years ago. learned some things, but no one never said anything about de-tuning. Great tip even though I don't use the pinpoint button, on any detector I swipe with the front and back of the coil to determine size, it saves a couple seconds per find. Also, the spiral technique.. been doing this for years. I thought it was my technique. lol Great tip there alone! I just got my brother into detecting yesterday, this helps so I can show him. since he'll be using the EQX 800. I'm still hooked to my AT pro with the storm coil. Happy Hunting Brother!!
I rarely ever pinpoint as well for the same reason (productivity). Most all of my outings are out in open fields looking for iron so the spiral technique is mandatory! The 800 sure is an awesome machine for a new detectorist so that they don't get frustrated and stay interested in the hobby. Do you feel that the AT Pro is as good as your 800 was? Or did you never have an Equinox 800? Thank you for the view and comment!
Great video, so much detail and important tips to improve metal detecting. Thanks so much. I have minelab 800, but have not used it much, still learning. This has really helped.
Thank you so much for the view and taking the time to leave a wonderful comment like this! I'm trying hard to get better with each video I make and my goal is definitely to get comments like this! Absolutely keeps me motivated to keep making these videos. 🤠
New sub here! You showed up in my feed. I am so happy you did! These tips are wonderful. I had no idea my equinox could do a lot of this! Especially the pinpoint tip to make the target smaller. @23:01. I can’t remember what you called it but I love it! I can’t wait to watch the rest of your videos! Thank you so much! 🎄Swinging Donna🎄
TECH QUESTION: Do you vary coil “swing speed” based on RECOVERY SPEED setting? Excellent “Operational Pro” tips…..very informative …if I can remember them all at once.
Some great info! Thanks for taking the time to put it all together. And I so agree with you regarding the "Swing Vampires" who just keep swinging over a target! Drives me crazy!!!!!!!
Like your videos because I have to dig in highly magnetic ground. I currently use a bounty hunter tracker 4 and a bounty hunter lone star pro. Have been looking and the Mine lab equinox 800 as a upgrade as I progress in my searching. Live in the high desert North west AZ Kingman area. Just found your channel and like your approach to teaching. Thanks for the video, will look into the Mine Lab 800.
The Minelab Equinox 800 (or the new Minelab Equinox 900 or even the Minelab Manticore) would be a huge upgrade for you for sure and well suited for your soil. Thank you for the kind words and for the view and comment! Much appreciated!
Thank you for the time and effort in your video's, many years ago I had a detector and I'm looking to get back into it here in NZ, I'm thinking of the Equinox 800 so your video's have me hooked :) Great quality video's!
Wow, thank you for the kind comments and for the view. Comments like this are what keep me motivated to keep making these videos. I'm glad you were inspired by the video too and you definitely can't go wrong at all by getting an Equinox 800. One of the best machines on the planet! Thanks again for the view from all the way down in NZ! 🤠
You are clear, concise, and to the point. Thanks for the tips on the Nox. I finally traded my Gold Bug which used to be my fave. Minelab outdid themselves with the Nox 800.
My wife, dog and I have been to that exact spot twice in the last month. We did just about as good as you did. Tent Stakes, dog tags, crusty coins and garbage. It seems to be a pretty clean Beach. Thanks for the videos and good luck hunting!
Nice. Among some of the other tips, I didn`t know about the pinpoint ratcheting down on the 800. I will try some of your detecting ideas the next chance I get.
I’m so glad I ran across you! My favorite videos were from you and Ron and I was so sad to see Ron moved and now there’s no more gold rush era finds on TH-cam lol. Anyway Mark I can’t wait to watch all of your videos!
That's awesome!!! Yes we both miss those days too. Lucky for us that we did make all those videos so we can go back and relive those memories. Check out my video called Frenchman's Creek, loads of Gold Rush finds in that video. Good thing is, I target Gold Rush era 1848-1865 when I go out detecting. So many of my future adventure videos will be in long lost gold rush camps. Glad you found my channel too! Thanks!! Mark 🤠
@@BrassMedic I’m looking for it that’s for sure! I love hitting ghost towns and when I lived in Quincy I was focused on gold, now I wish I would have spent more time hitting the camps. I’ll get back up there one of these days. I can still remember a bunch of areas with stacked rock from the Chinese, hopefully loaded with relics…
To the old guy saying it was a bit overwhelming, I’m here to say that bone stock without changing any setting is still better than most people think. Get out there my friend! Just put it in a basic preset setting and you’re good to go!
My brand new 800 show good vdi’s in air test but the first time I took it out the numbers were all over the place on everything except aluminum chunks of can. I even placed a quarter on top of the sand and it vei jumped from 1-39 all over. What should isdo
Finally!! A video that I can totally relate to and learn some tips and tricks to make my Nox 800 experience better! Great video and cannot wait to return to some honey hole areas and use these tips!
Hello sir. Thank you for all your tips and I love your videos. I do have a question and was wondering could you help me out. So researching of the site is important and I was wondering how do you do your research on picking out your locations? Do you use any maps of where old homes use to be? How do you find out if the location you pick has history there? Thank you for your help
Well I hope this tip helps you then, please try my techniques and tips on your next trip out and I'll be looking forward to you checking back in later to see how you did! Thanks for the view and comment!
ML Vanquish has the same guts. So, allot of these tips apply to it. Including ID numbers. But it has auto balance feature. Pin point also only works when held down.
Nice video. I haven’t used my 800 very much and this was very informative. We have an area that we hunt for gold is very trashy that this detector could be a great benefit for me.
Thank you Wes, yes this is one of the best VLF gold detectors on the planet. Very capable and definitely worth taking into those trashy areas. I'm going to do a video on looking for gold nuggets with tye Equinox 800 as well.
@@BrassMedic I’ll be looking forward to that video. I just finished watching your video on the 6000 with Scott. If I would watched it in its entirety the first I would have had my question answered and not bothered you asking it. I found a lot of gold out in that field back in 99 to 03.
I am in the California Gold Country and have never really been up that far North to check the areas of that map. But it's a really cool map to look at! Do you find any 1850's relics in that area? 🤠 Thanks for the view and comment!
Great video had some great tips although one thing wasn't clear as to why you were holding down the pin pointer button why not just push it once to be in the mode
Thank you for the view and taking the time to leave a comment! Your right was no reason to hold the PP button, not sure what I was thinking there in that exact moment.
Great video... I have over 1000 hours on my equinox 800 and consider myself atleast "decent" and this video turned on a few light bulbs. One question... Do you feel the FE at 7 will cause you to silence targets that are right up against iron? I hunt literal beds of iron and hunt very very slow to listen for the squeaks
Thank you for the view and comment Luke!! So the Recovery Speed setting being so high at 7 is more where the circuit is able to hear co-located targets of ferrous and non-ferrous in close proximity to each other. The higher settings of 7 on FE (Iron Bias) allow the bulk of the iron targets to be filtered (discriminated) at the cost of overall depth. If your using a 6" round coil on the Equinox 800 and in heavy iron you can try lowering the iron bias down to 6 or even 5 but you really need to keep that low and slow swing going if you try that. But for me here in California in the old gold rush camps of the 1850's I tend to be in heavy square nails and broken bits of food cans. I definitely start every hunt at a new site with my 7's settings and the 11" coil. When targets start getting thin switch to the 6" coil and eventually will lower my FE down to as low as 5. What kind of items are you mostly finding in your beds of iron? Thanks again!! Mark 🤠
@@BrassMedic my sites are mostly mid 1800s as well. Im a coin shooter at heart so I always try to pluck the silver, and copper coins out of the iron 1st. Then i start digging the mid tones... Thats when the relics start showing up... Buttons, broaches, crotal bells... Things of that nature. Once i feel I've hammered the site to death and the signals are far and few between... Thats when I start changing modes and settings trying to "beat the iron" I have never once not missed items in the iron. Once I drop all my settings and literally crawl through it I always find something good
Hi, Brass! New sub here....found your personality, finds, and all around knowledge very impressive! So, question...I see you chose the Field 1, is that for 50 tones and coke reduction, or did you choose it for some specific reason? Thanks much.
The first thing to check before you start is the battery level. No sense setting up if your battery is almost dead. Knowing the battery level also lets you know how long you can detect and if you need to conserve power by not using blue tooth or back lighting the screen….
I was cherry picking with my Whites XLT going to my truck to leave and hit a cashe consisting of 26 coins dating from 1880 to 1930 great day for detecting!
I have heard so many stories like this! Even gold coins found on the way back to the vehicle or right at where they were parked. Thanks for the view and comment!
Thanks for the great details. Just came off of my Spectrum XLT on to a Nox 800. Surprisingly similar adjustments so acclimation was easy - but, still learning. You show detuning the pinpoint mode on the Nox to hone in on the target. Does the Nox return to the normal pinpoint mode automatically? If not, how do I get out of the narrow pinpoint mode? Thanks in advance.
In my experience the "detuning" affect is based not on just pressing the pinpoint again, but instead it is based on the baseline signal the detector is picking up at the time you enter pinpoint mode. What this means is if your detector is over empty ground when you enter pinpoint mode your detector will be at it's most sensitive and will sound off when it gets anywhere near a metal object. However if you enter pinpoint mode while directly over a target your detector will use that level of signal as it's baseline and will be VERY detuned, resulting in a very small detection area, or even not making a sound at all. You are basically telling the detector what the zero point is for the signal. If the zero point is empty ground you get the maximum range the detector is capable of. If your zero point is close to metal it greatly increases how strong the signal has to be for the detector to make a sound.
Great video bro, I'm still a newbie with the 800 and I've found re watching your vids after I've gone out and spent some time in the field, really re-enforces what you're talking about, hope you come out with some more great tips vid. I'm down in the Jacksonville, FL area, so I spend a lot of time on beaches, but trying to get out in the fields too since this area of the country had some really early settlers from the Spanish.
Ooooh that's a tough one because I have had just about every aftermarket item you can get for the Equinox 800 at one time or another. I have two videos on my channel showing most of the upgrades. th-cam.com/video/9yGFR4Utomc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8R6JSrRqlAsNVCf0 th-cam.com/video/4jBD-aZMoYA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MuL9sXkosUkC0hMr Thank you for your view and comment/question!
I see you ran the FE at 7, did you keep F2 at 0? I am also curious if both FE and F2 work together or just one is used when you exit out on one or the other.
Hi Gene, Great question, so the FE and F2 are in fact independent of each other and you can choose either one or the other. So since I highly suggest detecting in Multi-Frequency (switching to single frequencies only when trying to decide when to dig or lower frequencies when only trying to detect deep park silver) I only use FE. So you are correct, when FE is chosen, F2 therefore is in active and has no effect and vise versa. So in this particular video I'm suggesting an FE use and setting of 7 when around iron or park trash such as iron bottle caps. Also safe to assume that not everybody has done the update to even see F2 but that's a whole other video!! 😆 Thank you for the view and question!!
I just purchased the Nox 900 and waiting for it in the mail. I'm on several videos a day learning how to use, and operate it. I wanted to ask you about the Iron Bias setting. I'm a little confused on how that works. I'm currently running a AT PRO and have used it for nearly 10 years. I'm not interested in finding relics or anything iron so I always discriminate all that out. I'm generally a silver, and jewelry seeker. So with the not 900 I would naturally discriminate all of the 1st section. So in the Iron Bias mode it seems as though I should also set that at 9? Or am I backwards and set it at 0? Will doing that cover up any silver that I'm searching for? And lastly I swing at your 7 sec mode or slower so I'm not concerned about recovering speed, but rather what's more important to me is depth in finding the deap silver. So for recovery speed wouldn't it be better for me to set that at a lower 2-4?
Hello, very good and useful tips for the Equinox, very didactic your explanation and very good video quality, thank you very much, greetings from Argentina !!!!
Yes, it's a fantastic all-around machine and it's came way down in price as the new Equinox 900 is now out. The Minelab Equinox 800 is one of the best all-around metal detectors ever made. Great on gold nuggets too! I can highly recommend it (at this price range). Thanks again!
When you use noise cancellation on the detector what does that number actually mean? At 04:10 yours show -8 and I have seen all kinds of numbers on mine as well but do you need to pay attention to that number?
Thanks for the video just started really relic hunting with the 800 I mostly use it in the Gold Fields clean up little patches great gold machine thanks for all the tips👍🇺🇸
Hey dumb question maybe but my nox 800 keeps making this squeak tone followed by getting -3 vdi numbers, what in the heck am I picking up? It's driving me nuts
I love this comment! Someone who pays attention to detail 😁 Funny thing, that laptop is a prop and doesn't even work. I'm all PC for my studio. Guess I need a more modern prop top 😊 Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Great question, kind of depends on where you are detecting. If your in fields looking for relics I would use FE unless your getting lots of really thin scraps of iron that are giving stable/constant target ID's. Another time to switch to F2 is in a park where you are detecting and digging iron bottle caps that sound good in FE at 7 (because in FE, bottle caps sound good at anything below 6). But generally speaking I use FE because I am always in fields looking for relics. A few other things for everyone to keep in mind, F2 is only available to users who updated their machines on Minelab's website. F2 is completely independent or FE and it's either one or the other as both can't be used at the same time. And lastly the entire Iron Bias circuit is only active when in Multi-Frequency mode. Thank you for the question and view!! Might cross paths with you out there one of these days!!
@@BrassMedic Thank you, I appreciate your detailed response. In regard to the rule of 7, would it be advantageous to use an iron bias of 7 while looking for gold jewelry? I'm hunting in Northern California. I'm almost always at parks, or the river hunting for gold jewelry
@@offthebeepinpath Great question and I'm glad you took the time to ask it. The reason is, I may not recommend the rule of 7's for your exact situation. My rule of 7's is more for detecting in areas with lots of iron such as old square nails, broken iron food can parts or in a park for example where there is a lot of concentrated people traffic over many years with bottle caps and especially crown style iron bottle caps. These settings will work great for these heavy iron areas. But if your in a typical park out in the areas where sports are played or in tot lots or playgrounds or a grass area at a school where recess and PE take place (as these are always the best areas for finding gold jewelry) these types of areas are not typically heavy iron or bottle caps as much as more picnic type areas are at a park or areas in a school where they eat lunch. Or in your case, down at the recreating areas along rivers . . . . In these areas I would be in Park 2 with an Iron Bias of 5 and recovery speed of 5 or 6 (depending on which coil your using) and I would really be on the lookout for all of those mid conductor and low conductor, repeatable signals. Unfortunately, you absolutely have to dig all pull tabs and foil signals if your looking for gold jewelry. Every once in a while you will be in for a nice surprise when that typical pull tab signal pops out of the hole and it's an 18k gold ring! So if your in areas such as you described and they are not always absolutely loaded with trash try these other settings I mention here. You can always email me at the email address in this video description for more questions or clarification. Thanks again for your view and this follow up question!!
Hi, Can you tell me please Ihave owned the nox 800 for a year now with very little or no success at all maybe two coins. I have numerous fields that I can use but all I seem to find is copper or lead, or junk. Now in this video on the section of swing speed . I see you detecting and numbers coming up on your machine why are you not stopping to investigate them numbers
Absolutely, the entire processor and circuit is different. The 900 has many upgrades over the 800. But the 800 still is one of the best VLF detectors ever made on small gold and nuggets. Thank you for your view and comment!
Great video. If I havent found a coin or anything exciting, I always swing back to the car and that's when I find something good. Always. It's my consolation prize :-)
Thank you, yes it's such a widely accepted fact that almost everyone has a story where an epic find was made on the way back and close to the car. 😁 Thank you for the view, comment and kind words!!
Yes of course but I'll be honest and tell you, if your looking for gold nuggets, keep the Equinox 800. But for everything else the 900 is better in every way. Thanks for the view and comment/question!
It will work but not ideal. I try to put an emphasis on depth at parks and stay in areas where deep coins might be, I only dig the deep signals as well typically ignoring the top 4" of soil. Thank you for the view and for your great question/comment!

I’ve only watched 2 of your videos and so far I’m hooked. I can’t to go back and watch more. Keep them coming.
When I call someone over to check on my signal is great, What is now so great is when they swing over the target, and swing over the target, and swing over the target, change direction and swing over the target! Now they are Wasting my time as the swing over and over the same target. Swing a couple of times and move on.
I love metal detecting and the adventures it brings:)
And yes on the way back to the truck/car I have several times found the find of the day :)
Another day another adventure
I'm 10min from Calico here in California. Everyone telling me about trying the equinox 800 out here. This video helps with learning how to use it.
Never had a problem with the "signal admirer" but now it will erk the piss out of me now that you showed it too me. Lol
Also
Iron gives a slightly delayed signal to the ears whereas a coin for example is a quick and sharp response. Good point about the pinpointer mode as you could null the real, desirable signal out by swinging out and over a co-located iron target. 😬 Thanks again for watching the video!! 🙏🤠
I need this in Pakistan How cant I get it? what is the range of Minelab Equinox 800 under the soil?
Great advice
This video should be loaded on to a USB thumb drive and packaged with every new Nox 800 purchase. Thank you for your time in putting this together, first class content and I urge every detectorist to watch it.
Yeah seriously
Thank you! Yes that always annoys me in videos too. And thank you for your view and comment! 🤠
They sure did, still an incredible, very powerful and capable machine, you will do very well with it. Thank you for your view and comment!
My wife, dog and I have been to that exact spot twice in the last month. We did just about as good as you did. Tent Stakes, dog tags, crusty coins and garbage. It seems to be a pretty clean Beach. Thanks for the videos and good luck hunting!
Thank you for the view and comment!!
Nice. Among some of the other tips, I didn`t know about the pinpoint ratcheting down on the 800. I will try some of your detecting ideas the next chance I get.
Thank you for the view and comment! Hope you will check back in after you get a chance to run the machine with my settings. 🤠
Really enjoyed your videos keep them coming.
Thank you Larry, I will absolutely keep them coming. Thank you for the views and taking the time to leave an inspirational comment! 🤠
Thank you again also for this comment and for watching the video!
great video. also, check those cable connections. I've found cable loose in the past. not often but can happen.
Great tip!! Yes a common issue that can be tough to figure out. Thank you for the view, comment and tip!! 🤠
I'm glad you were able to find value in it. I appreciate the view, the kind words and comment!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I just bought a Nox 800 January 14th and I want to learn as much as I can before going out when it warms up.
I couldn’t get a solid hit on any of the good targets. I might as well return it and use my PI.
Thanks man! I will be using the deTune now!
Yes, that's a really cool feature, I use it on my pinpointer all the time too. Thanks for the view and comment! 🤠
Hello sir. Thank you for all your tips and I love your videos. I do have a question and was wondering could you help me out. So researching of the site is important and I was wondering how do you do your research on picking out your locations? Do you use any maps of where old homes use to be? How do you find out if the location you pick has history there? Thank you for your help
Excellent information!! I have been swinging my coil too fast.
Well I hope this tip helps you then, please try my techniques and tips on your next trip out and I'll be looking forward to you checking back in later to see how you did! Thanks for the view and comment!
WOW! This one of the best videos that I have seen on the Equinox 800. Thank you for all the great nfo.
Great video I like the idea of the rule of 7 I’m looking forward to trying it out thank you 🙏
I hope you have success with it! Thank you for the view and for taking the time to leave a comment!
Thank you so much for these invaluable pro tips!! 💜 🙏🏼 ✌️
My 800 is coming this week, I really appreciate this video.
Subscribing!
ML Vanquish has the same guts. So, allot of these tips apply to it. Including ID numbers. But it has auto balance feature. Pin point also only works when held down.
Thank you for watching the video and for your advice and tips and for taking the time to leave a comment!
Hi I'm from europe malta .. you the best man!..i have seen here you explain very clear and in detail appreciate all you tips you gave as here thanks
Just curious does the nokta legend do the detune pinpointing.
@@BrassMedic
I’ll be looking forward to that video. I just finished watching your video on the 6000 with Scott. If I would watched it in its entirety the first I would have had my question answered and not bothered you asking it. I found a lot of gold out in that field back in 99 to 03.
Nice break down “tips”. I noticed the map in the background looks familiar if you live around that area maybe I will bump into you some day. HH👍
What lake is on your treasure map? Does it say. Looks like my home town lake castaic. Pretty cool
I am not home to confirm but I think it's Lake Isabella if I remember right. 🤔 It's a really cool treasure map!! Thank you for your view and comment!
Once I drop all my settings and literally crawl through it I always find something good
Hi I like your hints I’m in Australia still trying to work out the 800 haven’t been out yet confused on the machine I’m listening
Where did you purchased? I’m trying to get this for my husband for Christmas.. hope you can help.. thank you
You can get the equinox many places online including amazon and bass pro shops.
Hah!! So true! Guess I should have said that. Thanks for the great tip!
have you updated your detector.
Very good video thank you for the tips I will try them out
Thank you Luis! I hope you will. Thank you for the view and comment! 🤠
Thank you so much!! Very informative!!!
I’m saving up for a metal detector. Great video
Love seeing comments like this! I hope you do get one. Thank you for the view and comment. This hobby has been very good to me over the years!
GREAT VIDEO, I have lots of experience detecting but definitive learning a lot.
I still.tjose high pitched noises)
Must have different thinking, ID CAN BE ACHIEVED on iron horseshoe to a break TONE.
Thanks for the tips. I will try out some that I didn't know about
Does the rules of 7’s translate over to the new Equinox 900? Or should I adjust those numbers? Great info! Keep up the good work!
Can you share all the after market accessories you have please
Ooooh that's a tough one because I have had just about every aftermarket item you can get for the Equinox 800 at one time or another. I have two videos on my channel showing most of the upgrades.

Thank you for your view and comment/question!
Great video😊
I cant thank you enough for the video, its helped me get over the intimidation i felt getting to understand this machine.
Have you done an Equinox 800 beach settings video?
@@BrassMedic Awesome, I kind of figured that but had not seen a lot about it so though I would ask. Keep up the great content.
Thankyou for sharing all that great tips and tricks u can bet my machine is on the 77 plan 👊
Nice thank you for your view and for taking the time to leave a comment!
Love that old chain it’s awesome , that itself is a treasure
Thank you for watching the video yes that chain was amazing!
Maria here from the UK
Just fell across your video.
Ive put it in my watch later 👍
I have the same machine
Thank you so much for checking in from the UK!! I also really appreciate the view and comment!
Do you have a video on researching a site , I live in Chattanooga TN. and have to be very careful about hunting on battel feilds
Does the difference between the highest and lowest target ID numbers only apply when you are in all metal mode?
I'm thinking buying this one.. been swinging mid level detector for a long time now... you think it's a good "one" all detector?
Yes, it's a fantastic all-around machine and it's came way down in price as the new Equinox 900 is now out. The Minelab Equinox 800 is one of the best all-around metal detectors ever made. Great on gold nuggets too! I can highly recommend it (at this price range). Thanks again!
@@BrassMedic thanks for your opinion👊🏼
Appreciate all!
I appreciate your view and comment as well!
Will the rule of 7 work with gold as well Thank you?
Nice video Brass
Much appreciated!! 🙏🤠
I like the contrast between all the valuable detectors and the 2003 Laptop.
I love this comment! Someone who pays attention to detail 😁 Funny thing, that laptop is a prop and doesn't even work. I'm all PC for my studio. Guess I need a more modern prop top 😊 Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Excellent video
Thank you kindly for watching and for the comment!
Curious, with regards to iron Bias, do you recommend the FE, or F2? I'm also in California
@@BrassMedic Hello. What code does Econox 800 show for 18 carat gold and 24 carat gold?
Great video, thanks much.
Thank you Gene for the view and taking the time to leave me an encouraging comment!!
Thank u so much for this video! 👍 From Brazil
Thank you for the view and for checking in from Brazil!!
question, what coil are you running now on this video?
Is there much difference between the 600 and 800 model?
Absolutely, the entire processor and circuit is different. The 900 has many upgrades over the 800. But the 800 still is one of the best VLF detectors ever made on small gold and nuggets. Thank you for your view and comment!
Great video!!!!!!
Former LEO here too. Thanks for the view and comment!!
I love your videos its hlping me better than others
Thank you for watching them and also thank you sincerely for the kind comment!
Would you recommend the equinox 900?
Yes of course but I'll be honest and tell you, if your looking for gold nuggets, keep the Equinox 800. But for everything else the 900 is better in every way. Thanks for the view and comment/question!
Very good info bro! You are a true pro.

I need this in Pakistan How cant I get it? what is the range of Minelab Equinox 800 under the soil?
Kindly, do you have one purposely for Africa continent....or just for all ?
will rule of 7s work at the park?
It will work but not ideal. I try to put an emphasis on depth at parks and stay in areas where deep coins might be, I only dig the deep signals as well typically ignoring the top 4" of soil. Thank you for the view and for your great question/comment!
Send us your brochures, T-shirts and hat,..; how deeper down number it can give when you're in gold areas like mountains ⛰ area ? Can you tell us ?
No rattle snakes where I am, St Patrick got rid of them
Tip you never use a small type knife to holes for artifacts.
Did you know the less recovery speed; the deeper she detects
