Just bought one today. I have land in the mountains with old wagon trails that went through it and a natural spring where they would get fresh water. I’ve always been curious if I could find any old relics or treasures. I appreciate your videos as I am a beginner and your explanation was very easy to follow.
Thank you for watching the video. You have a very capable and powerful machine and you will find lots of quality items. The secret to finding the best coins and relics is research, and being the first detector ever to detect a site! Thanks again!
I just graduated from a low end detector. I still use the Nox turn on and go. Without any adjustments it kicks a$$ over what I had and loved. Things like an extension cord over an iron manhole cover OL ed(over loaded) my old machine. This one tells it like it is presenting the difference of copper and iron. A buried crushed beer can at 14 inches in gravel and dirt. Even found a partially rusted away sewing needle about 6 inches deep that my carrot would not react to. That was hard to find. I was stubborn enough to find what it was signaling. I have yet to really know much about the machine but when I do it will be even better. Notice I have not mentioned coins or better? Where I have been is the reason for that not the machine.
Yes the Equinox 800 is an amazing machine in many ways. Really good on gold nuggets too. I mean like one of the best machines ever made for gold nuggets. Also the target separation is exceptional there really is no need to upgrade that machine if you know it and like it stick with it. Thank you for your view and comment!

Years back I owned a White ( I think that was the manufacturer) and had a great time coin shooting in parks. Maybe I'll get back into it. Really enjoyed the thrill of uncovering something unique.
Equinox 600 is a great machine I'm sure you'll do very well with it in that area. If you ever want to go look for relics there's lots of stuff around the Franconia exit on 40 historical sites and even meteorites out there in those areas. Best of luck to you and thank you for watching the video!
I sold my Garrett AT Pro for one of these. The learning curve on the Equinox is so much more.... I know it's a better detector, but there's something to be said about the ease of use, even with experience. I didn't always get the best depth with the AT Pro, but I paid for that thing 3-4 times over. Few gold coins with it too. Need to get more time with the Equinox, but first few times out have been a struggle.
Recently just ordered my nox 800 away over here in scotland 🏴 amazing video , ive watched numerous videos and ive personally found yours the most informative and helpful so thanks very much 👌
Great video ,really well explained , this is the detector i have decided to get and now i fell i will be able to use it straight away :) On cars instead of the rubber bushes you use polypropylene bushes they don't wear as much and give a stiffer ride, they would work perfectly for the coil attachment and stop that breakage problem dead
Excellent video, but I have some thoughts about the 800 that I'd like your opinions on. I've seen quite a few comments from Equinox owners regarding the quality of the build of the Equinox metal detectors, and also about water damage to these machines that are advertised as 100% waterproof.
Hi Doug, Thank you for you view and comment/question. Yes, I have seen many complaints as well and I worry about this with my machine as well. If I'm going out on a really wet, rainy or stormy day I always take either my Minelab CTX-3030 or the Nokta Makro Simplex+ which is super easy to clean mud off of and built to withstand all the elements. Cheers, Mark
Pretty good video. I've just bought the 800 and this video explained the basics ready for me to go and have a dig. Ive just upgraded from the nokta simplex plus so this should be fun. Thanks, from England
I don't attach the Velcro to the coil wire that way because I swap between a 6"-11" coil the coils don't include them I might try to find extras to use them your way. What I do is wrap them around the shaft so I can loosen them enough to pull the cable through until I buy extra shafts also then it will change again. But I do like your way 😊
Great idea, if that area was good enough for Natives to thrive, it likely had other occupations where coins and relics could have been lost. Thank you for the view and for your comment!
Thank you! Much appreciated. Comments like this keep me motivated to continue making these videos. Thank you for the view and taking the time to leave a comment! 🤠

Hi awesome video thank you my question is between the 600 700 800 I am a newbie can you suggest which I should invest in please I live out skirts of Boston ? Much appreciated!
A Nice tip on the Face plate / Screen protector, Cut the Black part of it and all the other you can use as a new screen protector and your black indicators can stay on the machine, so now you have a bunch of spares 😉
This is a sweet machine.. just so hard to know which one to buy. Save for the deus and be able to upgrade it and buy more pieces later on, or get a minelab.. idk, it would be so nice to get one for $200 and everyone was like yeh, that’s a great detector.
This is a great question and a difficult decision for everyone in your shoes. I assume you're comparing that Equinox 800 to the original XP Deus and not the new XP Deus II? If so those are both machines that have been replaced by newer versions and the used sales Market is at about the same price on both. If that's the case let me know and I can give you some more advice but if you're talking about the new XP Deus 2 metal detector that is a whole different subject. Let me know what you're thinking about here and I'll give you some advice. Thank you for watching the video and for your great question. Happy holidays!
Incredible! Did I miss it or did you mention your height or whatever your thought process is for choosing the longest position for the forearm brace? I'm probably over-thinking it but I want to make sure my ergonomics are dialed in and right now I'm not quite there. Also, when in pinpoint mode and you say "right on it," does that mean that the target is dead center under the coil, about where the the pole connects?
Great questions, you will want to the velcro strap about an inch below your elbow. And the pinpoint is exactly in the center of the coil. Thank you for your view and comment/question!
Where was this vid when I bought my Nox a couple years ago ? So wanted to wrap the machine around a tree then slit my wrists. Great refresher course. I have the monster too. Do you find the nox better for gold ? I've only used the GM1000 for nugs....And the monster is great for gold jewelry. Takes all the guess work out of the decision to dig or not. its either ferrous or not. All my gold has come up with the 1000
Darn, I wish I could have made this video earlier then! I know what you mean, these incredible machines can really be intimidating and finicky. My Gold Monster 1000 literally paid for itself the first 3 times I took it out! When set up correctly that machine is absolutely money. Like you said, it's a dig, no dig system and takes all the guess work out. My only complaint is it lacks depth over the Equinox 800 with the 11" coil on deep nuggets. Best practice is, hit a patch first with the Gold Monster, then Equinox 800 then come back in low and slow with a GPX-6000 or SDC-2300 and lastly with the GPZ-7000! Of course that's like $20k worth of machines there. But that would be the best way to do it if you could afford it. I really do think that the Minelab Equinox 800 is the best VLF gold detector on the market today (Fall 2022). Thanks for the view and comment! Best of luck out there 🤠⛏️
At 21:09 you mention it's a good idea to get after market metal washers to protect the coil attachment so it doesn't get broken off. Where can I get the washers?
I have seen them for sale on Detect-Ed but they now only sell the rubber upgrades. Check Steve's Detector Rods online, he sells spacers Model Number: EQACC-02 and I know the size you need in stainless steel would be 18mm in diameter, by 0.2 mm thick with a hole of 10 mm diameter. Hope this helps! Thanks, Mark 🤠
Outlaw metal detectors sell a stabilizer that fits on the tab on the 800, which really adds extra protection for the tabs to prevent them from breaking off. They come in orange and other colors.
Hi Lawrence, Thank you for the view and great question! So a little story about that.... Many years ago I was detecting at an older county fairgrounds and at the base of a tree got a typical pull tab signal of 22 (back in the Etrac days) and sure enough it was a beaver tail pull tab. Got another 22 right next to it, was another pull tab, got a 3rd signal right next to those and I still to this day don't know why I even dug it?? I would have bet the farm it was going to be a 3rd pull tab, when it popped out I literally could believe it, it was a beautiful men's ring, an 18k gold wedding band! Luckily this happened to me like 20 years ago and it taught me a very valuable lesson. If you don't dig pull tabs your going to miss gold rings! So to answer your question besides gold rings, you could miss some older trade tokens too. Mayba a half dime or 3 cent piece if in an old enough area in NY. But if your just trying to find clad and silver only and want skip the PITA tabs, yes just notch them out. But you will undoubtedly miss some most gold rings and gold jewelry. Cheers and best of luck! Mark

@ritchiewelly Will upload this new video on Monday Oct 24th at 10:15 am (Pacific Time). Hope you will check it out!! I'm so absolutely impressed by this machine and when set up correctly can give you a huge advantage out there! Thanks, Mark 🤠
Hi that's a great question unfortunately no you cannot the coil needs to be on the machine as it has the receiver and transmitter coils built into it that is part of the circuit. Thank you for watching the video and for your great question!
Multifrequency gives your more depth than the 4 khz frecuency ?!🤯 I always eard the opposite, and I actually always use the Park1 or Field1 mode in 4 khz and the lowest velocity, and catch targets that i don't ear with other frequency mode
It depends on the type of metal to degree. A simple test in a garden of buried coins will reveal some interesting findings. The lower frequencies seem to do better on deep silver at the edge of detection depth, but even then, IF it can be detected in MF the machine gives a more stable ID and tone then the single frequency. It's the rule with all modern MF machines, modes that feature more lower frequencies will punch deeper into the soil but the eddy currents are not received back as prominent as higher frequencies are but this is not surprising as a 40kHz signal carries 10x more waves (to be received) than a 4kHz signal. On the contrary the small gold chains, earrings and fine jewelry are better detected on me des that feature more higher frequencies. I think what your commenting here shows that you already know this. But if I did not answer your question properly, please lmk. Thank you for the view and question/comment!
Thank you Jane! This kind of comment is exactly what keeps me motivated to make these kind of videos! Hope you will subscribe to the channel to see my reviews of the incredible new detectors coming out in the next 6 months (Such as the exciting new Minelab Manticore). Cheers, Mark
Hi mark great video bud I was wondering if you could help new to metal Detecting I have the dr otek mtxr am looking for a new one was wondering what is the best metal detector for feld and beach needs to have good quality depth on trying to find small coins price range £700 willing to go to 800 if I need to 😂😂
Hi Mark. I bought the 800 to use in water. Due to the bad right ups I have avoided surf and lake hunts. Do you know if minelab has a fix for this or even where the leaks happen? Thx again
Hi Lawrence, Thank you for the view and question! This is still an issue but from what I know after talking to Minelab is, it's mostly caused by swinging too fast or hard with the coil underwater, these hard fast swings put severe pressures on the handle area causing the seals inside the handle to flex enough to let water in. I'm sure it's still an issue but I would think Minelab learned a costly lesson with this oversight in R&D (just like the coil ears issue) and will be extra careful moving n with next gen machines. But to answer your question I don't blame you for being afraid, however I personally know many users who routinely swing this machine in and around water with no issues. They are all aware to move it slowly. Thanks again! Mark 🤠
I honestly don't know, I wish I did. I hope you can find one because it's very affordable and a great machine for the price. Thanks for the view and question.
Thank you for the view and question. Honestly, one way to think about any modern quality metal detector is it is going to detect at least as deep as the coil is wide. For example if using the stock 11" round coil on the Equinox 800, it should detect at least 11" on a coin. This requires good, clean ground where the mineralization of the ground is not too bad. However on bigger objects (bigger than an aluminum can) it can detect even deeper. It's not going to hear many objects past 1 foot. There are other machines that can detect bigger objects at more than 1 foot deep. They are called two-box detectors. Thanks again for the view and question, hope you will subscribe and watch some of my incredible live dig adventure videos as well. Cheers, Mark 🤠
On for example a coin sized object, it can detect to a depth of up to 12 inches (30 cm) deep. Larger objects can be detected at depths up to 18" or more. Thank you for the view and comment!
A sincere thank you for the feedback. This is an older video and I have since learned from it. If I remember right at least 1 other person said the same. Thank you also for the view!
This machine is absolutely fantastic on gold nuggets in fact I think it is better than the Equinox 900 or the Manticore on gold. The only VLF technology gold machine (currently being made) that can match the Equinox 800 in my opinion is the Gold Monster 1000. Thank you for the view and for your comment!

Yes, Whites, was a USA based company sold to Garrett a few years ago. Thank you for your view and comment!
Awesome job explaining this device!!!! Thank you for making it!! I'm taking my 600 out around Lake Havasu City area today for my first use.
Equinox 600 is a great machine I'm sure you'll do very well with it in that area. If you ever want to go look for relics there's lots of stuff around the Franconia exit on 40 historical sites and even meteorites out there in those areas. Best of luck to you and thank you for watching the video!
You have a real talent for video production. Thanks.
I love seeing inspiring comments like this! That was some time ago. I really appreciate the view and kind comment!
Really good presentation….best I’ve seen on the EQUINOX…by far…thanks
Thank you for the view and awesome comment! Keeps me motivated to continue making these videos! 🙏🤠
This is my first detector, and this was an amazing video. So helpful and informative. Thank you so much.
Great 1st detector, hopefully you have done very well with it. Thank you for the view and comment!
Recently just ordered my nox 800 away over here in scotland 🏴 amazing video , ive watched numerous videos and ive personally found yours the most informative and helpful so thanks very much 👌
Sincerely appreciated! Thanks for checking in from Scotland! Wishing you all the best!
Thank you for watching the video and for your comment and helpful tips!
FANTASTIC knowledge, your channel is extremely helpful and educational !! Thanks so much!
Thank you for the view and I sincerely appreciate your kind comment!
Cheers, Mark
sensitivity setting very handy when in a yard that has an overhead line causing "noise". good video. off to watch your pro tips.
Thank you for the view and comment and for watching my other videos too!!!
Thank you for your time, you show it very well. Not need apologias you are master.
Thank yiu so much for your view and for the kind comment!! Much appreciated!
Pretty good video. I've just bought the 800 and this video explained the basics ready for me to go and have a dig. Ive just upgraded from the nokta simplex plus so this should be fun. Thanks, from England
Thank you for the view and comment from England!! Hope you have lots of luck with it!
I don't attach the Velcro to the coil wire that way because I swap between a 6"-11" coil the coils don't include them I might try to find extras to use them your way. What I do is wrap them around the shaft so I can loosen them enough to pull the cable through until I buy extra shafts also then it will change again. But I do like your way 😊
Thank you for the view and comment/suggestion!!
Interesting, we are looking to search for metals around some old arrow head findings
Great idea, if that area was good enough for Natives to thrive, it likely had other occupations where coins and relics could have been lost. Thank you for the view and for your comment!
Perfect 👍🏻 I was swinging too fast on field 2 hence why not finding much at all.
Nice, hope it this helps you have more success!! 🤠 Thank you for the view and comment!!
I have to say that was a great great video on the first steps of the Nox 800. Thank you

Thanks I learned a lot from this video. Just got one last week.
That's awesome, good move that you won't regret! Best of luck with it and check out my other video on Pro Tips for the Equinox 800 as well. Thank you for the view and comment!! Mark
Thanks. All i need for the basic to kick starts.
Glad it was able to help you! Appreciate the view and comment!
Love your stuff man. Thanks for taking so much time on these.
I sincerely appreciate your kind comment and for watching the video!
Thank you for this video! Its very much appreciated!
And thank you for the view and comment, it is also very much appreciated!! 😁
a well put together video, infact the most informative video i have watched and have some understanding of,, great job well done and thank you ,,,,
Thank you as well! I sincerely appreciate your view and kindest comment. It's comments like this that motivate me to make these videos.
Newly found this channel. This is really a great video. 👍

Great video!!! I live in the land of bottle caps and pull tabs (ny). If I notch out 14-19 what good targets will I be missing? Thx
Mark
Great video thanks I seem forget from year to year live in AK short time to detect.
Excellent presentation, do you have a video on the AT Max?
Would you see this as an upgrade on the vanquish 440

@@emmapugh4704 Yes I actually should be done with all filming tomorrow so will be uploaded on Monday at 10:15 am (Pacific Time). @ritchiewelly Will upload this new video on Monday Oct 24th at 10:15 am (Pacific Time). Hope you will check it out!! I'm so absolutely impressed by this machine and when set up correctly can give you a huge advantage out there! Thanks, Mark 🤠
Does the ground balance have to be done every time the detector is turned on?
Sir..Can i use the detector without including the coil?
Hi that's a great question unfortunately no you cannot the coil needs to be on the machine as it has the receiver and transmitter coils built into it that is part of the circuit. Thank you for watching the video and for your great question!
Very interesting n informative
Thank you for the view and comment!! 🤠
Great review 👍
What a great video thanks 🙏

Mark 🤠
How can i order that machine Sir?I'm here in taiwan..
I honestly don't know, I wish I did. I hope you can find one because it's very affordable and a great machine for the price. Thanks for the view and question.
How much?
How manny ft deep the equenox 800.and how much the price cuoz i plan to buy.plss
Thanks
Thank you sincerely Barry!! 🙏☺️
What is the depth? In deep ground
On for example a coin sized object, it can detect to a depth of up to 12 inches (30 cm) deep. Larger objects can be detected at depths up to 18" or more. Thank you for the view and comment!

Hello, in the USA they are $900 new. Thank you for the view and question.
Does FR take the update away?
No.
sir how much.
The current price in the USA is $899.00. Thanks for the view!
Can somebody give or share me an experience of how effective the machine detect raw gold pls
