    11:26 Final version of Impa didn't wear her mask correctly, beta Impa covered her nose so doesn't spread Covid or whatever diseases Hyrule might have had so easily.
    Also actual ninja had their noses covered too, so it fails in that regard as well.

    I think the Great Fairy they scrapped was unfinished and the one they used was just easier to animate. I imagine her wings were able to move and she would have an actual face and move around like the final version was able to, albeit more... subtle.

    Oh wow. I find the beta designs to be pretty impressive, but I can't say there are any beta designs that I prefer over the final game's designs. It's interesting how you mentioned that the Kokiri were originally going to grow-up at some point. I am betting at this time, Link was actually meant to be considered a Kokiri, or that Kokiri was just a name given to the villagers of Kokiri Forest and not an actual species name. A while back, I had made a video where I talked about if the mayor's receptionist in Majora's Mask could actually be Saria's terminian counterpart as they both have green hair, given as to how they happen to be the only two characters between both games besides the Great Fairy of Courage to have green hair. After watching this video, I am wondering if the receptionist's model is a modified version of what would have been the older version of Saria. It's possible that she could be, even though I did find a beta screenshot of the mayor's residence in Majora's Mask showing the bombchu girl in the receptionist's place, indicating that her model was not finished at this point. Although if the receptionist was in fact a grown-up Saria, she was probably being modified during this time. As far as Nabooru and the Iron Knuckles, I think the Gerudo in the Iron Knuckles that aren't Nabooru actually holds Nabooru's beta model, rather than it being Nabooru herself, explaining why they are slightly different.
    I am wondering if NoClip.Website will add the beta maps of the Deku Tree as well as Jabu-Jabu's Belly to their website. I am guessing they won't, but it would be neat to look at these areas in better depths than just screenshots and videos.

    • @TheObsessiveGamer
      @TheObsessiveGamer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah based on an interview from Miyamoto (which I mentioned in my Cut Story Part 2 video) that Link was supposed to be a Kokiri.
      As for the model being a beta Nabooru model. Always possible, but at the same time, the fact that the mouth is covered like that with a sort of chainmail makes me think this is supposed to be a unique model to the Iron Knuckle and thus not Nabooru. As well based on the beta designs of Nabooru, these Gerudo all had mohawks, something Nabooru never had in any of the beta sketches of her either.

    I think the Mamamu Yan early model isn’t actually her early model, it’s the one right next to her in the house, the one in kakariko, the other woman in the clip specifically.
    Time at 14:59 to get exact, the clothing of the model is much more fitting to the other woman, her clothing has the same black bottom with a pattern, and a red or brown top (partially color blind so I have trouble with those kinds of colors)

    The fact that you could see Gerudo and the resemblance to Nabooru specifically [and the fact the eyes seem so wide] seems to simply that the point of the battle with her was to slowly remove her armor till it was revealed it was Nabooru brainwashed and having to fight her without most of the Iron Knuckle armor.
    This also explains why ALL Iron Knuckles have it, they re-used the entire thing and forgot to remove Nabooru's head.

    • @TheObsessiveGamer
      @TheObsessiveGamer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Within this very video I did explain that the head on other Iron Knuckles are different form Nabooru's and even showed as side by side of it. This proves that they intentionally made other Iron Knuckles different from her including the inside model. The intention was all along for Iron Knuckles to be Gerudos overall.

    Eh, I disagree with the idea that there was an intent to make all the Iron Knuckles into Gerudo.
    I think Naboru was the base, with her having a custom/altered model that exists inside the one you fight that actually is her.
    I think the reason for this is:
    They would need to have a moment where they reveal that the boss you just fought actually is a friend, so you get the reveal that shows a model of Naboru we would recognize but possibly using less memory than the standard model, and then the “fall out” animation and the transition to the standard game model.
    At some point later they decide to use this enemy elsewhere, but just copy-pasted the already designed and implemented Iron Knuckle.
    I just don’t agree that the Iron Knuckles look “feminine” and while I could see Gerudo joining Ganondorf, him being basically their King, I don’t think the sleek and nimble warriors would then be put in giant clunky armor.
    It just makes more sense from a game design and story design perspective for it to be a quirk of designing games in the early-3D era rather than some secret story element.

    • @TheObsessiveGamer
      @TheObsessiveGamer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The model of the Gerudo in the Iron Knuckle is completely different from Nabooru's though. Not even remotely resembling her. If they simply wanted to save on polygons, they could have went with a lowpoly model of her, but they didn't do that. This is why it is possibly a concept that was cut. As well, it is clearly very feminine considering the obvious chest and figure that is seen once they loose their armour.

    IDK why the Iron Knuckle's would've had to have been _brainwashed_ Gerudo warriors. I mean, Ganondorf was the Gerudo _king._ They could just be an elite corps of soldiers or a part of his royal guard or something. Just because soldiers fight for someone doesn't mean that they are _brainwashed,_ they could just be fighting for loyalty to their people or because they were conscripted or, you know, because soldiers fight for armies all the time without really knowing or even really caring about the specific geopolitical goals their leader is chasing. Lots of soldiers just fight because it's an exciting job, because they crave adventure, because it provides a lifestyle where you don't have to worry about things like room and board, for the glory and prestige, or because they like the rigid and clearly defined structure to their lives being given to them rather than having to worry about it themselves. I'm not saying that all soldiers are heartless and only care about themselves, many of them do it out of a sense of duty or to protect their people or because they _do_ believe in the goals of their leader
    I'm also kind of combining historical and present day militaries in my thinking, so not all of these things apply to all people, _peoples,_ or time periods, don't @ me because your brother just got back from fighting in Afghanistan for honorable reasons and you're mad that I said that some people join the military just because they like the benefits, because there are plenty of people who join for _exactly those reasons and I've met many of them._ :P

    Looking at Sheik's design, how do we know that the character in the beta illustration was meant to be Sheik? Yes, I see the turban and scarf, but looking at the hair color, it could be also a beta design for Impa, and Sheik's final design could be likely based on Impa's beta design.

    now that I think about it, if the Kokiri WERE to have adult Models, maybe some of the Market Town and Kakariko NPCs could have be repurposed to become townsfolk? We saw so far at this point townsfolk were just copy paste, so when they scrapped the Adult Kokiri they repurposed the designs? My only evidence to the theory would be the Kokiri Shopkeeper and the Bazaar owner having literally the same face shape

    I’m glad that they didn’t keep the Ganon transition, and just used Ganon as a temporary form. Ganondorf is way scarier than Ganon to me. Ganon is a beast, more animal than man. But Ganon is a man that knows exactly what he’s doing, the malicious intent glowing from his eyes like a fire. A beast might harm you for no reason, a man will harm you for his reason.

    • @TheObsessiveGamer
      @TheObsessiveGamer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But what is the exact reason for not wanting the transitional state between them?

    • @poisonmist13
      @poisonmist13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheObsessiveGamer That transition would imply that Ganondorf wouldn’t come back. He’d be permanently transformed into a beast, and we wouldn’t see his human form in Wind Waker. Then we wouldn’t see that amazing ending.

    • @elio7610
      @elio7610 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like the idea of the gradual transformation because it just makes more sense, in a way. It is just somewhat random for Ganondorf to suddenly tranform after nearly dying and the inability to change back would better explain why Ganon is not human in the previous games. Ganondorf practically is just a monster in later games, so may as well have looked like one too.

      @@TheObsessiveGamer I think so. Ganon states right before the final battle in lttp that Agahnim is his alter ego. I think, but not 100% sure, that Hyrule Historia has since established the 2 being seperate entities; however, the detailed lore of HH didn't exist in the 90s. Perhaps long before that book was released, when the overall "lore" of the series was still mostly an afterthought, they considered taking the full leap of making Agahnim into Ganon's original human form.
      For whatever reason, at some point they decided to ditch the Agahnim form altogether from the series; maybe that decision didn't come until development of OoT was fully underway. I'm thinking this because of the artwork's existence and, presumably, it was drawn up after Agahnim's only other appearance in the series, the bridge game between these two titles, Link's Awakening. (Albeit only in nightmare form, same as Ganon's pig form.)
      It's also worth noting the Zelda cartoon (while non-canon) depicted Ganon as a caped wizard, so maybe Nintendo was building up to a full character concept that was ultimately scrapped or later repurposed into Vaati, Astor, etc. 🤷‍♀️

    2:55 That really isn't depicting the Lorulian triforce though. I'm not even sure if that concept was really a thing at this point.
    Also, earlier in the video you mention there being 4 pieces of the Triforce on Link's shield. There are three, hence "Triforce". The upside down triangle wasn't meant to be another piece.

    • @TheObsessiveGamer

      I was clearly joking with Lorule there and the four pieces of the triforce lol

    • @elio7610
      @elio7610 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The fourth triangle could be a part of the triforce, there is not really any other explanation for it. Keep in mind that the first game only had two triforce triangles, yet they were still called "triforce". The amount of pieces has changed once before in the series. I suspect that they were planning for a fourth triforce at some point but mostly scrapped the idea, with only a few small hints at its potential existence in any games since. They probably want to keep things open so that a fourth piece may be introduced but have so far decided to not to add it. The triforce has been established as being three pieces in all the lore, so i am not entirely expecting a fourth piece to ever be revealed, but there is still a surprising amount of possibility for it.
