    Can you use a Wyze bulb in the socket?

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you sure can. As long as the power switch to the socket is on, any smart bulb can be used. Thanks for the question.

    Can this be used with a light fixture that is not covered or enclosed? Anyway to water proofs it such as wrapping in tape?

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  ปีที่แล้ว

      it is not recommended that you use this device in an uncovered fixture and although there are products such as "flex-seal" that profess to make things waterproof, We have not tried, nor would we suggest using this product in that way. Thank you for the comment and thanks for supporting the channel.

    What is the size of the socket ? I have a enclosed wall coach light and it has limited space.

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The socked, (once installed) is 56.5mm x 56.5mm and 65mm tall. So, if that fits within your coach light you're in business. Thanks for the question and we hope you join the Smarthome Riggs community, so we can hear from you in a future video.

    am I out of luck for using a lamp socket in the day? Should I cover my photocells somehow?
    So, I have the lamp socket in a dusk-til-dawn fixture. I didn’t realize I couldn’t “turn off” the feature of my hard-wired fixture. Now I can only connect to my cameras and light control at night. Is there a way to troubleshoot this without getting a new fixture?

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blocking your hard-wired fixture’s dusk to dawn feature will allow you to let the Wyze Socket use its dusk to dawn feature. And if you need the light during the day you can also use the app to turn it on. But that will let the hard-wire fixture provide constant power (which the SmartHome needs to allow the socket and camera to work). I hope this helps.

    Would you be able to power a eufy or ring camera using the micro usb cable provided in the box?

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This says it is specifically designed to work with the WyzeCam v3 camera. As the Wyze will see the socket as a light accessory and control it, (as an example, the WyzeCam v2 would power up off it, but the light remains on, as the v2 can't see the Lamp Socket as an accessory (like the v3 Cam does) to be able to control it. If you aren't using the WyzeCam v3, it will leave the light ON 24/7.
      That said, if the power is the same it may work, it just wouldn't be something I could confirm. And if it does, you could always use a "smart bulb" in the socket and control it through other means I guess.
      Please subscribe and let us know, if you try this "off book" usage and if it works out.

    After Turning off the socket power I can no longer see the socket in the app.

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Power needs to be on for any smart home tech. And as this is a wireless connected socket, it does take a moment for it to power on and connect to the wireless network. But if you turn off and on the power multiple times in a row, you could accidentally reset the socket and require it to be setup again. I hope this helps.

    Is this sponsored by Wyze?

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sponsored, we're just big fans of the Wyze products, and we always pre-order them when we hear about them. If we ever get big enough to be sponsored by anyone, we will proudly display that up front in the video.
      Wyze, and Govee have both come out with a lot of new stuff, so we have featured them both on the channel a lot, (paying out of pocket for all the items you see in our videos).
      Hope you consider subscribing so we hear from you again in a future video, and thanks for taking the time to leave us a comment.

      @@SmarthomeRiggs If I may ask one quick question if you wire this up to a switch on the wall that controls the ceiling light does the switch still control the ceiling light when you turn it on and off?

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NVAfilm Yes it can turn the light on and off, but if you turn the light switch off, you also cut power to the camera (as it's getting it's power from the lamp socket, and then controlling the light in that socket through the Wyze App, (or rules)). That said, if you replace the regular light bulb with a "smart light" you can control that smart bulb using a flic button, or smart assistant, (Alexa, Google, Siri) depending on the smart bulb used. I hope that helps answer your question.

      It’s Ugly and short, but it does work. If you’re looking for a prettier solution for your outdoor camera, we did another video on the Outdoor Power adapter, that makes the Wyze v3 even BETTER!

    I could not t finished the video. "It take second to brings smartness to your lights" Two minutes into the videos and he is only opening a box. Talk about a switch and bait

    • @SmarthomeRiggs
      @SmarthomeRiggs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you check the description, we put "time codes" in most videos, to clearly state what you can expect to find in our videos, like this one that said FIRST LOOK: [00:27], UNBOXING: [01:08], and SETUP: [06:06]. Not sure how that's a "bait and switch", since we clearly told you when each part would be so you could skip to the part you want to see, (or how you messed up the phrase "bait and switch", and somehow put the "switch" before the bait? (as that would fool no one)). LOL
      I know words are hard, but to quote Mark Twain, "A person who won't read, has no advantage over one who can't read..." But I'm sorry you felt that way, and that you "could not t finished the video...". Maybe you should check the description next time, so you know what to expect. A lot of TH-cam creators put these time codes in, to help people like you skip around to the parts they want to find. But thanks for leaving the comment. I needed a good laugh today.
