    I am hoping to buy a 3D printer at some time for making model railway items. I am new to 3D printing and am after a fairly simple bit reliable printer. I have been watching lots of videos and reviews and, so far, the A1 Mini seems to be the best choice for what I am looking for! There are SOOO many printers available at the moment, and they all have different attributes, but also have different 'glitches'! The A1 just seems to work well straight out of the box! 👍 Just waiting for Bambu to release it on its own now!

    The A1 mini camera will allow me to see without a problem if my print is failing. The X1 camera is not so great either for lack of light so I was happy getting a mini to print out of the box where I can see more of what's happening and more light is on the print.

    I'm a newbie, and I'm mostly a solution-guy (3D printer) looking for a problem. One issue is my 89 year old mother in law has a pan she bought back in the pre-historic era that she absolutely loves to cook with, but the handles have warped and are coming apart. A 3D printed handle would be the perfect solution, but it's a pan. You cook with it. It gets hot. Is there a good filament I could use for it, and would it be usable in this printer? I'm thinking of just saving up and getting the X1 Carbon and forgoing any less expensive printer, even the new PS1, but this printer might be a good intro for me. But, printing those handles would be awesome. Thanks.

    This is my first personal 3-D printer. We have one at work that is not the brand that does not have self-leveling and messing with the bed leveling and the nozzle height is a nightmare. I have yet to get that thing to print decent this thing out of the box print was amazing printed so far is outstanding so easy to use.

  • @Prof.Polymath
    @Prof.Polymath 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Same issue with my supports so far. Wrapping themselves around straight up legs and hanging fingers like that for instance and they just break off, even trying cut them away, smaller things just break. Needs a lot more work on supports really seems as it’s supposed to be ‘based’ off Prusa slicer. Prusa Snug’ just works. I’ve wasted 50% of the first few prints trying the various supports in the Bambu slicer, had a few peel off the bed too which isn’t that impressive really at this stage with auto levelling at play. As for the speed, my speed benchy was fast yes, but not great quality, so why? Do you really ever need a benchy a few minutes faster if it looks rubbish? I’m not sure it’s the speed that’s selling it for me so far. The brush painting and ams is the A1’s super power.

  • @whyired
    @whyired 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Great review structure. I just got the A1 mini combo recently and it's my first foray into 3d printing.
    This pretty much hit all the key points i needed to finally make the jump into 3d printing.
    I did have some concern in regards to the smaller print bed compared to other printers within the price range, but having a strong positive user experience due to the combination of ease of use, speed and print quality, the trade off in lost bed size seems to be worth it. Especially given that things can be split into parts if needed.
    I do hope that it ends up being possible to work with some of the stronger materials when used within an enclosure, however even without that ability this printer appears to aim for 80% of key user functionality pushed to a high degree of performance and optimization.
    Smart approach honestly and we can see the thought process reflected in the end product.

    • @SmoKey197
      @SmoKey197 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      My thoughts exactly. Just ordered my a1 without ams a few days ago. Though in my case, my niece kept begging me to bring my p1s over everytime I visited her. Its not exactly the easiest thing to drag around with you and I was concered that it may lose its calibration from handling it too often. My p1s has been fantastic so the a1 mini seemed like a no brainer. I want the machine to take up little space on my desk and remain portable, so the ams lite didn't really make sense to me. One of the first things I'll be adding to the printer is a carrying handle.

    What speed did you print the TPU at? Do you mind drying some filament and show us the texture again? The surface texture was not impressive, but as you said, wet. The overhangs looked good tho. I'd like to see if you can get better TPU print quality than my modified ender 3's (I run 8x Ender 3, with SeeMeCnC EZR Struders, Ultistik powder coated PEI, and SKR 1.3Mini Boards....the automation and speed looks good, but i'm not impressed by the wet TPU 🤷‍♂️

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      TPU was all at stock settings as was all prints. I don’t tend to dry filament and I just don’t have the time. But that comes with a price. The TPU used was Bambu own but generally I choose Sainsmart. I need to dry a spool out this week properly. Overall what you’re seeing is the usual moisture blistering and some retraction point. There is zero reason this printer will not deliver same results in TPU as it does in pla for instance. I don’t think the stock profile is perfect though. It does need a little tweak. However overall it still delivers great results out the box. There is always going to be improvement anyone can make.

    • @savejeff15
      @savejeff15 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you get Ali express nozzles. From local sellers it's usually around 6-7. So it's comparable. Also the nozzle in the ender are extremely simple and a complete hot end is about 16€ here in Germany. So the prices are way better than original OEM parts from other manufacturers.
      I don't think bamboo labs make there money on replacement like inc printer companies do

      Clearly you have not watched my channel. EVERY SINGLE REVIEW has that disclaimer and has done for over 3 years.
      Secondly I will say now the accusations of being paid is bullshit and lies.
      Bambu review terms are one of the best I have seen from any brand period.
      “We will send you the printer to evaluate, you can make a video or don’t that’s upto you., we hope you enjoy. “
      1: Bambu do not ask to see the video in advance
      2:Bambu do no ask for any specific things to be highlighted or mentioned.
      3: Bambu do not and did not make any for of payment or any requests for anything.
      They don’t even provide a reviews guide of points to cover. They know their product is good and frankly I wish every brand acted as bambu did as it’s a breath of fresh air to have ZERO conditions.
