Real excited to find this video. My daughter lives in New Haven. When we visit I go to the Deli and get stuffed breads (2 at a time), put them in the fridge and munch on them all week. In fact my wife and I brought one back this last trip (wrapped, put in a ziplock bag and packed it in our luggage... :) ) ready to try knocking some out on my own!!
I moved to California 7 years ago, can't find stuffed bread anywhere. went to google it after trying time and time again, and of course I stumble upon a new haven page!!! THE BEST ITALIAN FOOOOOD
Thanks Lustin :) This is an old Channel, check out our new one at Pizza Gavones...we have NH Style pizza recipe you can make at home (3 part series), pizza reviews from CT pizzerias, etc. We also have a pizza group were we talk all about new haven style a'pizza (thats what its called)...mangia
Great video, i grew up in Danbury, now living in eastern Maine. Love this kind of food, going to make a stuffed bread my Sia Esther made when i was a kid. It was stuffed with salami, provolone and hard boiled eggs!
You probably won't see this, but your video came up in a search for broccoli bread, and was fun to find ... I enjoyed. I'm from CT, but live in Colorado now. There was an Italian bakery that made yummy broccoli bread and sausage bread that I crave often. I think they were in Branford or N. Branford. It was so good. I miss CT/New Haven pizza, grinders, and oh how I miss Birch Beer! I'm making broccoli bread today, because I've been thinking about, and trying to remember the name of this bakery. Oh and white clam pizza ... miss that so much.
How funny. Looking for a broccoli bread recipe and found this video. I'm from CT, too ... been in Colorado since 1979. Had lots of relatives in Waterbury. I miss New Haven pizza and the Italian bakeries (can't find any in CO!). I lived on the shoreline for a few years before heading west.
I miss the broccoli bread from West Haven!! Googled a recipe and you came up!! I miss the Italian food I grew up with in CT. I always hit up my favorite places when I visit now! Thanks for posting this!!
New Haven Boy here......grew up getting my spinach bread (and Foxon Park Birch Beer and Iron Brew) from DiSorbos on Grand Ave in Fair Haven.....went to school with all the sons (Hi Dominic, Stefano, Antonio and little Leo...) Then they closed and get breads now at Rocco's on Ferry St.
Nice! I'm so happy you are doing this from your kitchen. it's hard to make pizza and breads from an electric oven. Love how you compensated and said-all ovens are different, then said what racks to use.
Thanks Kerri. I have several other stuffed bread videos coming out and also a series on how to make really good pizza in your gas or electric oven. Stay tuned.
1 lb dough balls. If you go to my new channel called The Pizza Gavones, I have several videos on baking pizza. One is how to make the dough, the other is how to make the pizza in your home oven.

The oil is going to make it so soggy cause it's like a pool of oil
Curious about the weight of each dough, TY?
