  • We have a very awesome match that showcases some style vs style differences. We have a Muay Thai practitioner by the name of Владислав Григорʼєв (Vladyslav Grigor'ev), and we have a Kudo practitioner by the name of Сергій Вишневський (Serhii Vishnevskyi). Let's see what we can get out of this what looks like mixed-rules Muay Thai-esque cage match. Shoutout Victor Chepurov for putting together this awesome league! Also, we have a guest commentator Vivek aka Wegud.

      kudo actually sites muay thai alongside kyokushin and boxing as part of its striking inspirations. originally it was just kyokushin+judo but later on they started adding boxing, muay thai, jujutsu, sambo and catch wrestling in the mix. so, not really, it's muay that+kyokushin+boxing+judo vs muay thai.

    Couple of things:
    the matchup definitely favoured the MT guy. Kudo has much smaller gloves so the way they defend their heads is vastly different, this is probably why he ate so many elbows. Also, the boxing gloves have definitely limited kudo guy's ability to throw. I also think MT guy knows some grappling because he knew how to defend kudo guy's throw like a grappler. Another thing about kudo is that, if one combatant is significantly smaller than the other, he is allowed to hit the bigger guy in the balls :D

    nice judo on the part of the kudo guy, especially in round 2. I think it's very important for grapplers to learn what they can do with boxing gloves on so they don't over rely on their fingers for grip (fingers are pretty weak and the gi/jacket isn't always there to fix that). Jean Jacques Machado has been a pretty dominant force in competition grappling despite having only a thumb on his left hand. Still, I agree with the judges on this one. A nice, technical fight.

    The gloves were a disadvantage for the Kudo guy. It made it difficult for him to clinch up and grapple. As soon as he got around the head though, he went straight for kubi nage. Looked like all his failed throws were because he couldn't clasp his hands or grip in any way. I think he would have been throwing the muay thai guy left and right if he hadn't been wearing gloves.

    There are other matches which involve Muay Thai vs Kudo but they are rare for some reason. The one which gets the attention of MMA media is the Bellator matches (one MMA match and one kickboxing match) between Joe Schilling (US champion in Muay Thai) and Hisaki Kato (black belt in Kudo). Also, there was a Japanese representative of Kudo named Kenichi Osada and he fought a Thai fighter in the ring.

    Kudo is the more effective martial art than muay thai as far as I am concerned, because when they spar they spar with head gear and the gi, but this allows them to do headbutts and establish a grip via clothing, all of which are effective in a street fight. Note that I mean Kudo is more effective in a street fight - when you have two martial artists from different styles versing each other, that is a different story all together

    • @asteriskcolon
      @asteriskcolon 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In this match, they stand them back up immediately after the fight goes to the ground (I'm not sure which ruleset this is because Muay Thai doesn't allow the big Judo throws, only sweeps and similar, and Kudo normally allows a little bit of ground grappling before the refs stand them up) If Muay Thai guy doesn't know his groundwork, Kudo guy could win/end the fight from Kesa Gatame. That alone is worth a lot, in my opinion. If Kudo guy knows enough Judo to do a choke, arm bar or similar from Kesa, that's the end of the fight, or, Muay Thai guy would have to continue fighting from a bad position with one fewer usable limb.

    • @Pastamist
      @Pastamist 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If headbutts are the defining factor of what’s better, then Lethwei fighters should have a leading streak over Muay Thai fighters for each time they fought- and there’s a lot of Lethwei vs. Muay Thai matches. It should also be noted that Lethwei does have takedowns and certain throws, just not to the variety of a lot of grappling arts, and it doesn’t have any submission holds- perhaps I should clarify that certain takedowns are legal in Lethwei instead. Now, I wouldn’t be surprised if in fights against Muay Thai, the rulesets were modified to restrict takedowns at all- it should also be worth mentioning that Lethwei *does* have a heavy focus of strikes over takedowns, even if it’s legal at times.

    The throws were useless though from the Kudo guy. Yes he made of thrown the Muay Thai guy a few times but you're not able to throw any punches or kicks to the ground. So all it was doing was stalling for time, while the Kudo guy was still eating countless elbows and knees.
    And that jab from the Kudo guy was a stiff arm, there wasn't anything behind it. The Muay Thai guy was getting ready to kick and just slipped on that wet plastic canvas. The Muay Thai guy won all three rounds.

    • @samuelbromee3292
      @samuelbromee3292 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I agree, also from a stamina perspective; Throwing guys is hard f'in work. Throwing a sweaty guy sporting shorts while wearing boxing gloves is even harder - Gotta give him respect for trying and actually even pull it off a couple of times. The gi isn't helping either. He can't cool off as effectively and loses more fluid. He also loses the advantage of being slippery when sweaty. Even Royce Gracie stopped wearing the gi after his legendary(!!!) clash with Sakuraba at Pride FC.
      As a style vs style exhibition it's not great to use the ruleset of one martial art. I mean just look at all the MMA guys in boxing - If you're a professional in a sport then you're kind of an expert at that particular sport.
      I guess it was to do kudo striking vs Muay Thai striking? Honesty would prefer if they did lethwei rules, feels like a better ruleset that has elements of both styles

    They both represented their Styles well, the Kudo guy was just not as strong of a fighter as the muy Thai Guy. Muay Thai guy also had the rules advantage.

    Зачем им вообще надели перчатки, при том что разрешены удары локтём в голову? в таком формате у бойца муай-тай явное преимущество. Кстати, локтями он работает весьма впечатляюще.

    Full of beer glasses on the ground, judo screams first when they "win", and judo has no pain conditioning, good luck in street fights. The ancient MT can elbow eyes and knee your downstairs; today's MT is a "weaker" version to fit the sportsmanship.

    there is no best Martial Art in how we compare. To be really honest about comparisons, you'd need to let a Kendo practitioner to fight a BJJ practitioner using his weapon. Same with Kali and knives and sticks, same with all arts. Want a fair and honest comparison, let the artists use what they train with. So a kali fighter with a knife vs a BJJ with a gi. That is fair.

    This just looks like a kudo fighter fighting MT rules! Kudo fighter disadvantaged here by opponent having no gi and having to wear boxing gloves! Just watch a kudo fight and the differences are obvious. Not taking away from the skill of the MT guy but this is clearly his territory. Good fight though!

    They can head but in kudo and also use elbows this kudo dude just aint trained alot doing elbows i think he would have def won if he used elbows but i think cause he wore a gi they provably told him he cant throw elbows and he probably agreed not to throw elbows and wanted to wear his gi
