Que bonitoo por dios!! Que bonito que suenaa!!! El clarinete bajo sobretodo...yo lo he intentado perono hay manera de hacerlo sonar....hay que practicar mas...me encanta como suenaa!!!
It depends on the model. A professional bass clarinet's lowest note is a C, and a student model's is Eb (in written pitch). A college bass clarinet has a 4-octave range starting with the Bb (csounding pitch) below the bass staff and goes up to the Bb above the treble staff. Which means that the bass clarinet is awesome :)
What wonderful, clean playing! So musical, so expressive, so well done! Too bad the person shooting the video didn't always focus on the actual soloist, either not knowing where to look, &/or just preferring to look at the loveliness of the women players. For music this well-played, one wants to see who's actually doing the solo!
You should use a neckstrap when you get the itch to have fun and dance while playing bass clarinet. I do that at football games, and I have the most fun dancing and playing. XD
no its a Bb bass clarinet, its just a low c bass clarinet. This means the lowest note is a C instead of an Eb. (So the bass clarinet has the same range as the bassoon).
nice performance! interesting choice to start Maruntel (the 6th dance) with such a slow tempo - to be frank i prefer it faster :). This is the compelete set of Bartók's Rumanian Folk Dances - why is it called excerpts? :)
@graceofbass In general I agree with you, but do you not think maybe she's trying to lead the ensemble? They haven't got a conductor, so it's almost like she's the first violin in a string quartet in terms of her role.
Well the exaggerated body movements of the lady at right puzzled me.Nigel Kennedy of the clarinet? ,No she is conducting the group! Great stuff, great players.
@Ibocaner Moving with losing the embrouchure is indeed not good. But if you move a 'bit' and keep your embrouchure the same. So move your body and head/arms parallel. Al problems solved :). {I also always 'move' when I play. The one sitting next to me in the orchestra really looks weird at me when I do so and tries to act like me...}
The lady plays really well, that's what I think. I don't think it really matters whether she moves a lot or not. She gives the music somehow more expression...
@AntonioPistola You're right, movement is important, especially as a soloist. But when you are in a small ensemble and you are the ONLY person moving as much as you are, it is definitely distracting in a classical recital performance setting.
Uh, well I don't know that...You've stumped me... but then again I only chose to take on Bass C. so I could always be 1st chair and not have to worry about try outs for Jazz Band, since I AM the only one (It is pretty cool to sit by the cutest guy in band though;-]) But I'm sure you could look it up. ;-] I'm just a stinky 7th grade chick. Ha
@friendant72 Having been the leader in a clarinet quartet before you're right, movement is relation to keeping the beat is important, but I would say that her movements are not helpful in keeping the group together and were intended for expression.
Cool. The next concerto I do will be for Klezmer bass clarinet. It will be finished in the Fall of 2008 for a Spring 2009 performance. Please check out my video "A Lonely Moment Wakens" on TH-cam.
That is true, but if you notice she moves her whole upper body, so I imagine it isn't as band as just swinging your instrument around haha besides, you could do some serious damage to your clarinet doing that, or even the person next to you. At least by moving so much of your upper body, you give the person next to you warning that they may be hit!
@graceofbass distracting? it makes it more entertaining imagine a rock concert if all of them just stood still? would be boring as hell movement is key
I come back to this beautiful music time and time again, for years. I love it.
This is the kind of video that makes me proud to play bass clarinet!
יאללה אחד הטובים!!!
בתזמורת שלנו אנחנו גם ניגנו את זה!!!
Very beautifully played. I enjoyed seeing the players move as they played, that showed emotion in the performance.
Absolutely perfect performance! You are great clarinetists... Thank you for your postings.
This Bartok version is very interesting!
one of the best versions i've heard yet
WONDERFUL!
I'm gonna do this with my klezmer band. Thanks

Bravo pour la qualité de l'arrangement! Très original, et l'interprétation est bien dans le style de Bartok (ce qui est rare!).

I actually bought a clarinet and am now thinking about buying a mandolin...
Just beautiful and haunting - thxs for a great post - straight to my FB page!
Great job! Love the arrangement, know the piece well in string and chamber orchestra versions. Started here, like other selections also.
Ann

that is a natural fit
Wow, that clarinetist is really getting into it.
the lady clarinetist sounded sooo awesome!!! but still... BASS CLARINETS FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!
Es precioso
arranged by the mandolin player, Avi Avital
Is it possible to purchase this arrangement somewhere?
Moran is EXCELLENT!
clarinets rock!!!!!
La Clarinette dans tous ses emois .
Thanks.

you guys fucking rock the house!
you ever seen a double contrabass flute?
Its like a bass clarinet, but a flute =D
Immobilizzate la clarinettista.
nice performance! interesting choice to start Maruntel (the 6th dance) with such a slow tempo - to be frank i prefer it faster :).

ahahah i love how she moves while she plays. you cant really help it. u just get into the music.
lindo... uno de smoking, otro de traje, dos de camisa, las chicas sin mangas.... Creo que la vestimenta también cuenta para una buena impresión.
You did me a nice great favour. This tunes are imortant for my< live since 80' merci ! :-)
This performance makes me want to take up the clarinet.
@graceofbass In general I agree with you, but do you not think maybe she's trying to lead the ensemble? They haven't got a conductor, so it's almost like she's the first violin in a string quartet in terms of her role.
0:22 HOW DID SHE GET HER BASS CLARINET TO SOUND SO CRISP!!?!?
Please what is the title of the piece and did you get it on the internet?
@thebigcheese123789 Alto clarinet, tuned in e flat. He has the solo at 3:18
Well the exaggerated body movements of the lady at right puzzled me.Nigel Kennedy of the clarinet? ,No she is conducting the group! Great stuff, great players.
What kind of mouthpiece/reed combo is the lady in white shirt playing? Great tone & articulation!
@Ibocaner

What's the name of the solo clarinetist? She's not in the description of any of the videos.
Uh, well I don't know that...You've stumped me... but then again I only chose to take on Bass C. so I could always be 1st chair and not have to worry about try outs for Jazz Band, since I AM the only one (It is pretty cool to sit by the cutest guy in band though;-])

@graceofbass I agree, its a little strange really.
I was a very impressive, movement of the girl was superfluous, but the performance all around was excellent...
how dus wot work?
im pretty sick of pepole complaining about musicians moving around with the music. what the big deal?
Cool.
The next concerto I do will be for Klezmer bass clarinet. It will be finished in the Fall of 2008 for a Spring 2009 performance. Please check out my video "A Lonely Moment Wakens" on TH-cam.

Excelent!!A+++
A klezmer wedding("quartet de llevant":Look it please. It will not defraud you)Thanks
Tell it to Jacqueline du Pres
Its more useful in klezmer so shes probably acustomed to it. Sounds fine though.
I can't say I do..
@graceofbass distracting? it makes it more entertaining imagine a rock concert if all of them just stood still? would be boring as hell movement is key
If it sounds good, I don't care if she tap dances while she plays. So she moves a lot, get over it people.
thanks, its not a probklem when u play a selmer bass!
This is not the Klezmer I am looking for . I looking for the German Beer drinking style of klezmer. comical to listen to with a fast tempo
but overall her sound is good
will she stop movin do u see any one else actin like dat she just givin them cues
Try being in a marching band!
Bartok Hungarian Dances
wow that lady in the white shirt was moving so much it was nausiating
Lol 4 years is like nothing.
I move around.
I rather watch someone be into the music rather than sitting or standing like a rock.
its an alto :)
Yeah, I think I could've done that myself :-]
You should check out my math project vid its rad, not really its really bad quality, ugh
Later!
