As an an English protestant I could sit still and listen for a while before going to bar an wishing they were playing slaidburn
I'm not Jewish, not even close, i'm Mexican. But this music, and this man, it is food for the soul and nothing less. He never fails to make me smile like a small child in a candy store.
🎻🎵
Makes about as much sense as saying "I'm not a cat, but I do enjoy stroking them"....but it was 9 years ago so 🤷♂😅
Again an alleged answer of Joseph Haydn to Emperor Napoléon why he, Haydn, doesn't speak French: "My language anyone understands!"

Music is for all.
I had the privilege of seeing Itzhak Perlman, The Klezmatics and Andy Statman last night in San Francisco. It was Amazing and Energizing!

Absolutely amazing! Perlman is by far the best violinist that ever existed! I’m Jewish and he performs our music with such innate passion, it brings tears to my eyes!!!!
Me too.
Klezmer music is a whole mood, so exciting! What a beautiful showcase of talent and personality. Thank you for this music.
Why is this masterpiece making me cry? Old, beautiful times. What a beauty! Oh man, I love this.
Love the connection between the musicians, like at 1:57 when all Perlman has to do is change his facial expression and the rest of the band knows to move to the IV chord. And Perlman's nod of approval afterwards! Great stuff
I grew up with Klezmer and ancient hebrew music, Itzhak got right into his childhood back-ground.
Beautiful!!! What soul music!!! You can tell the people that played this music suffered a lot. Their pain is in the back of all these tunes, yet so is their bright tenacy in clinging to life, and their joyful hope!!
The greatest modern violinist playing the greatest timeless music. This sound once represented our culture. It is fantastic to hear it after everything that happened in the last century.
The mutual respect amongst these artists is so wonderful.
CAN'T IMAGINE ANY WEDDING WITHOUT THESE TUNES !!!...thanks AGAIN !
Beautiful music with one people, One world, One culture
I am a Klezmer fan and having the great Master Violinist Itzhak Perlman perform with the Klezmetic band was awsome. I have the CD at home and play it over and over as I love Jewish music.

Isak Perlman so talented. Everything he plays I like. His command of violin is inspiring.
I've never heard a violin played so beautifully.
5 years ago this was made and it is still being watched, wow just shows how much cultural music is still loved
This is amazing! Why the hell hasn't anyone ever told me about music like this!? Better question, why the heck don't people know about this? It's too good!
Ist living music . I love it ❤️❤️💖♥️
I'm only half Jewish, and not religious, but your comment and the music made me wonderfully happy. Regardless of the people--- this is SOUL music. I can't imagine anything more beautiful.
Comment ne pas aimer, cette musique qui nous vient du fond de l'âme juive !
I come back to this video at least two or three times a year. Just itches that scratch- you know? Just awesome.

Thank you PERLMAN !!! for being so CONTAGIOUS ! I also feel very NATURAL! listening to KLEZMER music--the SOUL OF JEWISH SOCIETY ! :-)
What a treat to find this!
Best Klezmer rendition I ever heard ... thanks for sharing.
Itzhak Perlman, what to say. THE BEST and the most amazing musician, so gifted, and so special. When the heart is ruling and when the Heaven and Angels are involved, then there is not a border, not a religion, not human limitations, there is only a GOD. May GOD bless and protect you Sir always.
It's incredible that a people that have been so tormented to retain the spirit that produces such beautiful and joyful music "Never Again"
So beautiful! Klezmer music is mesmerizing It goes right to the heart. You want to get up and dance, but deep down, it seems there is a touch of melancholy. I was wondering if any one agrees with me. Itzhak Perlman performance and words are truly touching. I love Klezmer music!
Extraordinaire le maestro Itzhac Perlman un des plus grand violoniste de tous les temps.... dans cette sublime improvisation de musique Juive. J'adore.Merci.
Zupełnie jak bym słyszała dawną Warszawę z dzieciństwa...;)Dla mnie jak miód,dziękuję:)
Zvláštne krásna hudba.
Maestro I.Perlman tu vyzerá tak uvoľnený a šťastný.
Vďaka Anika.
omg, ok..i have goosebumps now..perlman is a genius! loved his work on Schinlers list aswell!
Perlman got the music instinct. He can do it if he can think of it. truly a master.
I've always loved klezmer, and I've always loved Perlman. But, wow!, what a combo!!!
Yay! Two of my favorite things in one video: Itzhak Perlman and Klezmer!!!
What a fine wine -- the joy of klezmer is a wee bit more lovingly-spurious, in that this appears to be from 1986.
Itzhak is, if not very nearly genius, then very actually genius! Go Israel!
I loved it! All musician are great, of course, but Itzhak Perlman plays like a true maestro!
Thanks for sharing this rare street moment, that was probably rare for everybody too : unique ! A moment in life. Great "boeuf" (in french to mean improvisation between musicians that are not used to play together ! Second part with Klezmatics, my friend Frank London ), is great too ! Friendly
Nobody can play like Perlman!

Absolutely fantastic.
Thank you
ОЙ ОЙ ОЙ, какой же это КЛААААААС!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pieknie. Potrafia sie bawic. Tesknota.
I used to watch this, the PBS special in its entirety, all the time with my dad and grandpa (though not Jewish, he was actually Romanian Orthodox, God rest his soul. My only point here is there are those of us gentiles who can enjoy and appreciate klezmer, too, as well.) The way Perlman and all the bands here belt it out, and, might I add, with such gusto, too--AWESOME, such memories ;-)
X-Ray Crystallography Actually, the only point I was trying to make, is that there's not a single darn thing wrong with some of us East European gentiles who already like to live it up ethnic hunky. Plus, this is EXACTLY how I remember it with my dad and grandpa, so it never was any prejudice whatsoever on my part. So the last and final thing I need right now, and I ABSOLUTELY cannot stand, tolerate or deal with, are trolls like you (or repulsive sonofab ---- lowlifes like DaffyDuck73 or NobodySmurf) who insist on ad-libbing and twisting my words around all out of the cock-and-bull false pretense to "show humility".
@X-Ray Crystallography AND NO, I WASN'T AT ALL TAKING TO IT FOR ANY DUMB WRONG STUPID REASONS, PLUS I DON'T KNOW FOR THE LIFE OF ME WHERE THE HELL YOU'RE COMING FROM ABOUT "WHITE AND NON-WHITE PEOPLE"
X-Ray Crystallography LISTEN UP RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW, JACKASS, NO I'M NOT TAKING TO IT FOR ANY DUMB WRONG REASONS NOR FALSE PRETENSES, MY ASS
Hankus Netsky looks a little like Gustav Mahler. Funny, I never noticed it before.:)
Perlman seems to get really going with the Klezmatics the most. The call and response play with Frank London is fun to watch -- and all the embellishment talk coming under that unbelievable technique is breathtaking to hear unfolding..How fabulous they all got to play with him -- but how many more times fabulous he got to play his heart in with them! This whole montage is priceless above rubies.
Thank you for this wonderfull music. So profound. To remember
This is a so great music, Itzhak Perlman in its best play, long live to Klezmer music !!
I freaking LOVE this style of music. And now I finally know whats its called. Klezmer.
It's amazing and hilarious to watch Perlman pick up on this so quickly.
With a talent like his and the background he has, it came very naturally.
It was already in him...the sympathetic vibes from the other players brought it out through every pore of Perlman's skin. 100% organic.
A complete joy..... so welcome in this world and so inclusive of all peoples !
Thanks...
This is the most fun more than two people can have. EVERYONE should spend some time making music with friends.
Man, these guys GET IT!! Music's supposed to be fun and easy like they make it- I feel motivated watching them play!
His facial expressions made me smile the whole time. :-D
OH< I loved this! I adore Perlman... but listening to him play Klezmer just made my day!!!
Wow - what a treat!
Im only 14 and love playing the violin, but I LOVE klezmer. Especially Itzhak Perlman!
This is absolutely awesome music and artists! And Perlman is awesome just himself
Itzhak what a wonderful violinist that guy is !
More than 10 years i am watching this video from time to time. The best part is when they improvise and "talk" to eachother with instruments. Now i found out on spotify the song is called "traditional: fisherlid" and its perfectly played, but it has nowhere near the power of the improvisation here in this video. It is raw, pure, perfect imperfect! 👌
I realy like this music. I've seen this video many, many time's. It's great.
Love, love, love Jewish culture, Yiddish and Hebrew !
Itzhak the student and at the same time, the master. Marvelous.
Wonderful music! Music for our souls! Thanks a lot!
Love how he (Itzhak) is willing to try new things and always has a great tone while doing it. I remember this first about him when he helped out the great Jazz Pianist Oscar Peterson by making a jazz duet album with Peterson to raise funds to help with his medical bills. SOULFUL!
Perlman is one of the few classicists (IMO) that can insinuate himself into any situation and improvise his way through it.
This is melody from Basarabia, Republic of Moldova, very impressive. Not so many jewish left today in my country. Thank you guys for remind about our sweet colaboration cultures
Lovely music i am a great fan of ITZHAK PERMAN ,I have in my collection most of his CDS that i play regulatry
Pearlman is amazing... and I LOVE klezmer music. I used to sing with a Russian Klezmer band. LOL we had so much fun...
Speaks to my gypsy soul. Running all over the place trying to find Kroke Band's Russian Sher.
this is pure gold... anyone will get up and dance to this music.
This music reaches right down into my soul. Superb!
Maravilhoso! Muito obrigada yakovsmirnov55. Amo klezmer! Lembro-me dos meus avós, judeus-romenos da Bessarábia imigrados no Brasil (Wonderful! Thanks a lot yakovsmirnov55. I love klezmer! I remember my grand-parents jewishs from Romenia-Bessarabia imigrated in Brazil).
Regards from Romania : )))))) 👍
Wishing everybody a great Sunday noon, fans, let it sound this good, amuses me nuts this video, suuuuper awesome, when artists are having fun is ... suuuuper wow
Brilliant! Love it!!!
I think I'll have some of this at my wedding ! lol
Beautiful Romanian (Besarabian) music.
The refrain and the typical / recognizable klezmer music is very nice but seeing two musicians talk to eachother with their instruments is out of this world. Wow... i could listen to the improvisation for hours and hours. Thats the moment when "god" or whatever you want to call ot, presents itself
One can easily get caught up in the infectious beat and the full-bodied spirit of Klezmer.
