Looking Good!!! I built an 81 maxim about five years ago and had to put biggest jets I could find. I installed same pod air filters. Anyway...keep up the great work!
The little diaphragm with the long stem is the accelerator pump, it adds a squirt of fuel at the start of acceleration. The incorrect diaphragm you had in the package is an air cut off valve.
I followed this rebuild on mine. I love your work but the floats were put in upside down and the floats should be tuned. Also the air screw placement and main jet size is off. Really should be running like a 110 or 108.
How did you tuning go? I would recommend welding bungs on the exhaust with custom intake and exhaust and use a Wideband O2 sensor to get a proper tune.
Wow , next time use carb spray on the boots and they will slip on like buttah , carb spray has lubricant properties , old timers trick i learned years ago
This bike is looking better and better each video. That gold accent on those little covers really looks good and gives it that different aspect of a garage bobber
I'm wondering how you tuned the Pod filters and you did say that you fabricated something for inside the pods to limit the air flow. Do you mind explaining what you did?
The pilot air screws should be completely removed and inspected with a good LED flashlight. Make sure the O ring is good and there is a spring and washer on top if the spring. This will make a big difference.
@@johnderekmitchell1510 that's what I thought too. I had to replace a fuel pump on my sv because of that ethanol blend crap. Corroded the crap out of the fuel pump and it was barely working. After that I found a gas station that sold pure gas.
CHOPPER ATTARD I’m confused also I’m building a cb750 bobber build same air pod air filter and exhaust setup as the one in these videos what size jet should I use on my bike ??? I can’t get this guy to answer any of my questions can you help
Amanda Smith hey Amanda Definitely start with a bigger main jet than original I’m not sure what it has originally and get dyno tuned before riding it u don’t want to waste all that time building it to blow it up
I just thought with pod and cutoff exhaust setup I should go bigger maybe 125 right and where can I buy 4 cheap carb rebuild kits and 4 jets instead of buying a whole pack of 10 or 20 different ones
ive got this stationary belt sander jb weld and a plastic card mine are so big around i had to sand a flat spot 9/16 deep roughly dont want them to touch each outher cant waitght for spring so i can get to the side yard and see what
Good stuff, love watching the videos. Quick heads-up... I rebuild these engines, you installed the floats upside-down, also, I don't think you have the correct accelerator pump replacement. You should check out 4into1.com, hondapartshouse.com, davidsilverspares.com and vintagecb750.com
hi. i have an issue been trying to solve for over 2 years and 2 sets of carbs. i have 87 CB650 cafe project. fully rebuild motor. the original set of carbs were fully rebuild. issue is when i turn fuel on the carbs leaks especially 2,4 from bowl. i have tried OEM gasket kits from EBAY, ets. so i thought maybe it is carbs. i got another used set from ebay, same thing. i did setup float height by the manual and have the float tool as well. any tips?
Hello! Even if you set the floats by the manuals specs some aftermarket rebuild kits have slightly different specs for the parts they come with. If fuel is leaking from the float bowls 99% of the time it is the float needle letting in to much fuel. You might just have to readjust a little at a time to dial it in. And I know this probably isn't your problem, but make sure your floats aren't on upside down.
@@owengrimes5207 hey you sound like you have done this before. I'm doing a kz 650 wich I assume should be about the same jetting. Going to do pods and rather short 4 to 2 pipes with baffles. Any guesses on where I should start with jetting?

my cb650 has got 28mm mikuni smooth bore carbs on it ..... and it rocks!!!
You put the floats on upside down i think
How did those floats work? Dump a little fuel?? You are not the first to install them upside down😛
Looking sweet ! I’m sure the chopper forefathers got frustrated too... Rock on !

It's Always a pleasure see the nontification of a new video, can't wait ti see the final result , great job untill now, keep up! 🤘🏻
Are you going to show how to vacuum balance the carbs?
The pilot air screws should be completely removed and inspected with a good LED flashlight.

how do u get the pilot out?
@@anthonyakers6374 Use a small screwdriver.
Thats really starting to look sweet!
Love your videos man. I have a question.. When you run into a problem where do you go to read about the peace or engine?
Dang those carbs actually look pretty clean for their age my 98 zx6r carbs looked like garbage when I got it and that was in 2007.
Probably because of the garbage gas that's always gone through it. At least this one had a few years of unblended.
@@johnderekmitchell1510 that's what I thought too. I had to replace a fuel pump on my sv because of that ethanol blend crap. Corroded the crap out of the fuel pump and it was barely working. After that I found a gas station that sold pure gas.
my question is... why didn't u clean the carbs before u painted em?
Yo!!! Loving the bike but my question is that I have a 79 with the same carbs what size pods you had to order for them
48mm
Love your work
If there wasn't an easy fix way on the gasket Napa sells gasket sheet rolls to make your own.
Cereal box cardboard works a treat too ;-) they are only cover gaskets
Because of your exhaust mods and the pods u should bump to 125 at least mate or you have a massive chance of leaning out at hi rpm

I am doing a CB650C Cafe Racer project and I am having the same issue with my choke not clearing the pods. Any suggestions to get past this?

Btw....any vids from your ride to Colorado?
Not a lot...some basic stuff. I just wanted to focus on the rides.
looking sweeeet!
Hahahahaha....that big ass hammer is awesome! Lookn good brosiff!
How do you get that pilot jet out? Doing a rebuild on mine doesn't seem to have a grove to put the flat head on
Use a grinder an add the flat head mark yourself then you can use a screw driver to take it off
Where is the episode 18?
pod filter opening size?

Are these the pd42a carbs? I'm thinking about trying pod filters on my cb750.
I guess I've been doing it wrong. I rebuild mine, then I paint them.

Get a set of round wall Mikuni vm34. These old CV carbs are a pain in the butt and they don't do well with modern garbage gasoline.
I really had a wish to win this bike bcz I'm a big fan of these bikes never had one....top 1 on the wishlist
cure break violins playing lol u suckhole pmsfl

Doing pod filters on mine did 120 jet work out?
It all depends on your bike I wouldn’t do a 120... 110 or 108 works best. It’s mostly going to come down the how much air your picking into the carb.

OMG 🤦♂️ fits carbs with mallet 😭

A light tapping with rubber mallet should do just fine but what he did is wild 😂
