    Good lord, I love poodles! Their grace, agility, and athleticism are a thing of beauty to watch! Not to mention those long, long legs that nearly go up to the sky, and the most brilliant minds in the canine world! So incredibly happy I have my own poodle pup!

    Absolutely wonderful recall! This dog did very well even with its less experienced owners. Makes me want to go ahead and obedience train my standard even though she is nine years old. She is the first dog I've had that I didn't obedience trained in 30 years but she is well behaved! Great job with this one!
    Once you've trained one, you never really want another that isn't obedience trained, I highly recommend it. If I lived in AZ I would certainly use this Kennel for classes!

    Excellent. Poodles are really smart & dedicated / loyal However, ( I have poodle) this behaviour doesn’t happen overnight. From 10 weeks old , you start baby steps training. Should be consistent, no excuse. Until almost 6 months to a year old , only then you can tell if you’re successful fully train your poodle ( off leash in public “ not recommended “) After all the hard work, having a poodle is awesome & unconditional love. ❤️ 🙏👍😜

    My studies say that poodle behavior is the same regardless of the size of the breed: toy, miniature and standard---all share the same behavioral tendencies. My toy poodle is so disobedient, but a very playful athlete, like a standard. I'd LOVE to be able to take her to the park and let her run, but I don't DARE for fear she'll run into the traffic in the street, or start pestering another dog. She'll "heel" for me on the leash, but soon gets distracted, and follows the will of her whims. Maybe trying this training method will help.

      I actually know a very experienced standard poodle breeder and she said the brain of a standard poodle is completely different than the other poodle sizes. Almost like different breeds.

    Good job in training. Now about that cut, phoo-phoo is out. I have never had a person criticize my poodle's short cuts. I have been warned not to phoo-phoo him by perfect strangers...LOL

      Bill Orights Find out what he likes. Is it food what's his favorite treat or is it toys. Or is it play time? Once you find what he like use that to train him. If it's playtime like my poodle the rule is so what I tell you and I'll play with you. Don't do it and you're ignored. Standard poodles are like Velcro and really want to be beside you ALL THE TIME so by ignoring them when they don't listen that the ultimate punishment use that to train him

      Take it to beginning obedience class (a good one) and from there
      go as far as you like. You will never ever regret the time and money you put into it. They will be training you to teach your dog...what you don't know you cannot teach!

    Is there no leash law in that area?

    • @ThisbeandPyramus
      @ThisbeandPyramus 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Many people live in civilized areas where it's no problem to have a dog off leash in a park.

      I live on the outskirts of my town, and it's not a really big problem. Maybe that's how it is there? Some areas don't mind, especially if the dog isn't a stray or out of control.

    Oh dear i suspect the E collar is coming in to play here about to be banned in UK. Seems to be wearing an extra collar and what does the guy have in his hand? Poor dog lots of research has been done into how harmful elecric shock collars are.

    There's a thing called a leash law. The notion that a dog doesn't need to be leash is absurd. Great that the dog has a solid recall, but every dog should be leashed.

    • @scatteredreams
      @scatteredreams 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      They aren't trying to tell owners to ignore leash laws or to never leash their dogs. Of course dogs should be leashed but every dog should STILL be off leash trained for safety reasons. A dog who is only obedient when it's held back by a leash is very risky and can be dangerous not only to itself but everyone/thing around it. What would happen if it slipped off of it's leash or ran out of an open door? Well with a dog who has been trained to obey you even when it's not leashed, you won't even have to worry about because it will stay with you and do what you say. A dog who hasn't been off-leashed trained can take off, chase the neighbors cat, attack someone walking their dog down the street, get hit by a car etc. Think of leashes like life-jackets. Your child should really wear one anytime they plan to ride in a boat/go fishing/spending time on the water, but you would still teach your child how to swim right? That way, if one day they fell into the water without their life-jacket or it somehow slipped off in the water, they would still have their swimming abilities to rely on and wouldn't drown. Off-leash obedience is your back-up plan if your leash plans fail for whatever reason.

      @servicepoodle8536 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In some areas, keeping your dog off leash when in CONTROL is perfectly okay. Of course your dog should be kept on-leash, but a dog still needs to practice off-leash recalls and be able to run around (supervised, of course.) Especially since dog parks aren't a great place to bring your dog. And in a more business aspect, some people with Service Dogs need their dogs to be off leash if the leash interfers with the dog's task.
