      Great question!
      The BTU meter has a small sensor that measures DIRECT heat transmitted through that little sensor.
      I do notice the tiny sliver gap you mentioned but if you see a difference in the number on the meter, that’s the difference a film is going to make.
      It’s like an ON/OFF switch, it either is blocking some heat or nothing. The sensor on the meter won’t pick up the little gap because that sensor isn’t low enough to detect it.

    I've heard a couple of rumors that I would like to have dispelled if possible.
    The first was that ceramic tint has trouble reflecting heat and some claim it can damage your glass. (This can't be true if so many cars have it on the road right?)
    The second was that some noticed their dash was hotter with the ceramic tint than without (I am assuming the section of dash they are talking about is the part connected to the windshield)
    Awesome video, will probably still go for this stuff when I get a quote

      @TexasTintMasters  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching, happy to help.
      1. Ceramic tint is not a reflective tint. Both work great for heat rejection. It won’t damage your glass.
      Not sure what the second question is but I assume the answer will be that tint is not an air conditioning unit, it’s insulation.
      Your AC is what makes your vehicle cool, ceramic tint insulated your glass.

    Quick question. You mention that nano ceramic is a $1000 vs a $300 tint job. I get that the NC film costs a bit more, but I don't really understand why it's $700 more for nano ceramic tint job.

    • @TexasTintMasters
      @TexasTintMasters  4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Hey thanks for watching! The numbers are subjective. It's to show what one could cost vs the other one. The Nano Ceramic Films jobs can cost around that price range depending on the windshield being tinted, sunroofs, pano roofs, windshield strips, tint removals, etc. Standard Ceramic can range from $250-$500 depending on package.

      @@TexasTintMasters I don't think the price difference was explained the way the question was asked. I believe this is the scenario that they were inquiring about.... You mentioned the price difference is $700 between a regular ceramic and a nano ceramic tint job. It wasn't what you called, a "subjective view" depending on two different types of vehicles or number of windows tinted, or specific region markup. It was a statement of cost difference strictly between two types of tint material for the SAME job. So.... I will ask the question differently to elicit the response the person was looking for.
      Using the same exact subject vehicle and tinting the same number of windows for 2 jobs. The first job using ceramic tint and the second job using the nano ceramic tint.... Where is the justification in charging $700 more using the nano ceramic? So, you are saying the difference in the cost of materials for you is $700 or is this just an arbitrary amount charged just because it's "better"? I'm doubting that the material is THAT much more. I am looking for an honest answer in what the ACTUAL cost difference is between the two materials, please. Thank you in advance. Also, thank you for the technically informative video. I love that kind of explanation.

      The tint rejects the heat, it doesn't absorb it.

    • @FusionDeveloper
      @FusionDeveloper 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've always heard Ceramic window tinting you pay a place to install, should always be a "lifetime warranty".
      The ceramic tinting is color stable and is poor at holding-onto heat and contains no metal and not a cheap dye.
      Therefore, it doesn't absorb or retain the heat anything like cheap tinting.
      The cheapest tints use a cheap dye, that fades in the sun.
      Some metals conduct heat and electricity very well, those metals are commonly used in electrical components and heating elements, such as Steel, Copper, Gold.
      Some metals are not as good for heat/electricity, like aluminum, which is why people put potatoes in aluminum foil to bake them and you can touch the foil bare handed almost instantly after removing contact with the potato. Aluminum can also be used for electrical shielding, but it's still somewhat conductive. Aluminum can also be used as a heat-sink, because it is conductive, but cools down very quickly. Aluminum is a little complicated to me.
      The amount of time it takes for something that is heated, to cool down, determines what is is best used for.
      Okay I lost interest in typing stuff, but this should at least give you some ideas or things to look up. I can't say that everything I said is 100% accurate, but it's good enough to get the point across.
      Ceramic tinting is the best kind for all reasons, except upfront cost.

    • @TexasTintMasters
      @TexasTintMasters  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There's a video I will be publishing once the weather gets hot enough to do a documented experiment.
      Keep in mind, window film is an INSULATOR not an air conditioning unit. Think of a Yeti cup: If I were to leave a Yeti cup on a roof top all day in the blazing sun, at some point that heat will be transferred inside-this is called the Law of Thermal Equilibrium.
      What window film does is SLOW DOWN the heat transmission so that your A/C is able to cool the car down much faster and getting it MUCH colder. The A/C is what cools your car, the window film is what insulates it. Hope this helps to understand!

      Texas Tint Masters thanks for responding. Then at what point is ceramic tint not worth paying the extra for? Like I leave my car from 7:30 to 4:30. • @TexasTintMasters
      @TexasTintMasters  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Stevenyc69 As I mentioned, because of Thermal Dynamics, the car will get hot regardless unless there is a force to counter it (which would be your A/C).
      Let's say it takes 45 minutes for the car to get to peak temp with regular tint. Ceramic Tint will drastically slow down the process.

    • @alanh4471
      @alanh4471 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Stevenyc69 Any tint, no matter how expensive - or not tint - will make the interior of the car heat up and in about 2hours it will be at the same temp!
      The main advantage of 'better tint' is that if you go back to the car in 5-10mins it will be cooler.
      Other advantage is that the A/C is working less: You could leave the A/C on ECO mode, as against cheaper tint you would have to have it on MAX.
      A/C in cars take approx 10% of the engine power - so uses more fuel.

    • @kilgoretrout4461
      @kilgoretrout4461 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you’re confusing how the home window film works. And on most vehicles I don’t really think it would work.
      I think you’re referring to the clear plastic that you adhere all the way around the inside of your home window, creating an airtight section of dead air between the window and the interior of the house. That dead air acts like insulation for your interior from the outside, and doesn’t allow as much cold to come directly through the window. So I don’t know how you could do that in most vehicles really.

    Whats the name of the tints?

  • @BentonL
    @BentonL ปีที่แล้ว

    If I dont have a meter how would I know.
    The glass when I touch it is extremely hot. Supposedly this was tinted with ceramic tint. My windshield which is not tinted is slightly cooler than the paint of the car.
    I paid for SunTek Evolve ceramic tint on a VW Passat.
    The job was done good enough for me. I think they used the bottom line tint based on my truck windows being cool to the touch.

    • @TexasTintMasters
      @TexasTintMasters  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you asked that, great question!
      Ceramic tint is an insulator that traps most of the heat at the glass, slowing the process of heat transfer into the inside of the cabin, which allows the car to cool down much more efficiently.
      That heat has to go somewhere. Most of it is kept at the glass and then dispersed on the outside. The reason why windshields tend to be cooler is because of the air cooling effect from driving in the wind.
      A hot glass means it’s holding back more heat.

      That's because the heat is still surrounding your vehicle. Heat doesn't just enter through the windows, you have body panels, a trunk and the underside that will transfer heat to the interior. Park in the shade whenever possible to help reduce the transfer. Even if you insulate all panels it will still get hot inside with enough time. The tint and insulation will just reduce the time for it to heat up, not keep your interior cold at all times.

    • @TexasTintMasters
      @TexasTintMasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes this is a common misconception: window film is an insulator not an Air Conditioning unit. It doesn’t create nor produce cold air. Window film is meant to insulate & reduce the heat (solar energy) transmission entering the vehicle so that it allows your A/C to cool the vehicle more effectively.
      Leaving it in the hot sun, on a hot day, with no A/C will eventually make the car-hot. This is also known as Thermal Equilibrium. Adding ceramic window film prolongs the point in which the vehicle reaches thermal equilibrium.
      That being said, make sure your A/C is working right! It’s the best way to maximize the use of Ceramic Window Film.
      Great question. 👍🏻
