Yep, Safety glasses. I always use one, but somehow I told. myself that this will be a quick job (drilling holes in metal and shaving grinding stuff) and started without one. Small stuff or debris hit my eye, and I flushed it out (not too big to be lethal) then I wore glasses, next thing I know, 1 big ass chunk of metal (bout 1 millimeter or so) flew straight into the glasses and ricochet, leaving a big mark on the surface of the glass, mind you, the bit Im using is spinning at a rate of probably 28,000 Rpm (max is 35K, lvl 6, I had mine set to 4 or 5)

I was playing normally with my siblings when my mom noticed my breathing was different. She felt something was wrong even though I didn’t have any complaints, but she took me to the hospital. When we got there, the doctor said there was nothing wrong with me, but she still felt like there was something wrong so she talked to another doctor. Turns out I was having a septic shock and they said I wouldn’t hav woken up the next day. My liver was failing and I had to stay in the hospital for a few months after. Remember folks: Your brain's a lot bigger than just the part that talks to other people.
When you KNOW something is wrong, but can't verbalize it, even to yourself, pick 'gut instinct' over 'peer pressure' or you will probably get mangled.
This is why insanity is so frustrating. You don't know which subconscious signals to listen to.

Here’s one. One rainy day I was riding my bike without a helmet. Went down the hill my house is on and back up with no issues, but thought “should probably go get a helmet” went back to my house, got my helmet then rode down the other side of the hill. Slid and crashed due to slippery grass/mud. Instant concussion. Came too and stumbled home to be driven to hospital where I apparently asked the same questions like 4 times over. Ended up being alright.
Saw my gp for checkup after, and she saw the crack in my helmet from the crash. She confirmed if I didn’t have a helmet I’d have died instantly.

Back in the days before e-mails were in common use my mother worked for a local authority, collecting/collating orders for school supplies, ordering them in and then sending instructions through to the transport people to dispatch them. Had a couple of problems with orders late or not received so started keeping a notebook with details of orders, dates etc. Came a day when some higher up decided there was a serious problem - person in the transport section blamed my mother for being slow, she produced the notebook to her manager, showed that it was not her fault, everything went through really promptly. Manager said " thank you very much for this" and she heard nothing more about it.

Several years ago I was asleep and has this wild dream. I was driving home from work and was at a 4-way stop. After seeing the rest of the traffic do their thing, I began to drive. Ended up being T-boned by a speeding vehicle that ran the sign.
Roll forward in time about seven months and I am driving home from work. I get this strange feeling I have done this before. Not the act of driving home, but this literal instant in history. As I approach the intersection, it's like my entire world and reality sank back into watching a replay of my life.
The same cars, the same weather, my same clothing, the same pattern of traffic.
It got to my turn and I began to drive. I decided to creep forward, then stop.
This car comes barreling through the intersection, without me being there.
I avoided the accident because I remembered the event from my dream. And quite honestly, this happens all the time.

Oml, that I.D. one reminded me of a story I have. I work at a gas station, and of course we sell beer and tobacco. We can scan an I.D. and our system will flash a red screen if it is an underage/expired I.D.. If its either I have to return the I.D. and let them know why I can't sell them the item.
Well one day I'm on shift with two other people, coincidentally I actually was filling in for someone else and it wasn't my normal shift. The other two are off talking to someone, and I'm alone at the register. I remember vividly seeing the worker come in, but not the young girl, 18 by the I.D. she later showed me. I never made the connection until it was pointed out, but driver's license are vertical when someone is under the age of 21. At the time, I if course had no idea. She brought the item (a 24 oz. bud light can if anyone is curious) and set it on the counter. She had her I.D. in hand already, but no money/wallet. This girl looked my age or younger, so I scanned the item to get the 'Is it legal?' screen up so I could get the system to verify properly. I ask for the I.D. she's holding, and as I usually do, I verify if the I.D. is actually hers via the picture. If the pictures match up, I scan the I.D..
System goes red screen, which tells me the I.D. is, in some way, not legal. So I scour it for why, and find the 'under 21 until such and such day'. I immeaditely take the beer can, hand her the I.D. back, and say 'I'm sorry, but I can't sell you this item.'. I get an 'Ok!' from her and she walks out. The woman behind her, that was the worker I had seen come in, flashed her badge at me, and said 'T.F.A.C, good job.' (Tobacco, firearm, alchohol control, may have the order slightly wrong, but that's it).
When the line is empty I grab the can to take it back and let my two managers, the ones I was on shift with, know that I'd been hit, which is code for 'I just got tested for whether or not I'd I.D. someone properly'. They assumed it was by the company, which sends people in, usually of age, to see if we'll I.D. people the way the company wants us too. That was my first time getting hit with the test, and the company gives us little cards that are green (passed) or red (failed). Never having been told that, when they asked I was confused as shit. I told them no, the lady just flashed the badge and said 'T.F.A.C, good job.' And walked out. Manger one didn't get it immeaditely, but manager two did. She told me what it stood for, and that that was the first time in five years they've been hit by them. Like, these are the 'fail and lose your job' kinda tests. I have never felt so damn proud. Apparently my boss has a system with the company tests that if you pass, he'll give you 25 dollars, but if you fail you have to give him 25 dollars. I found that little fact out later on, like a month or so later, when my coworker, also a manager, asked if he'd given it to me. I said no, cause he hadn't. I think she said something cause like a week later I got it, lol. I didn't care about the money, honestly, I was just more proud of the fact that I passed such a damn important test.

Well i have a storie where i actually could've died that happened 2 weeks ago
So i've been smelling in my kitchen a smell of wires burning from time to time, tried to investigate but couldn't find anything wrong, i assumed it's the fridge overheating or something because we had an electricity issue where it would constantly go off, may i add that i live in lebanon, so electricity is extremely fucked up here.
So whenever i smell that smell i didn't mind it much as it goes away relatively fast, till one day i was going to take a shower, and the bathroom door is in the kitchen (fucked up architecture), as i was entering i smelled the smell again and said that's fine and closed the bathroom, then something clicked in my head and i said wait wait i should double check if everything was fine, so i exit the bathroom, open the fridge, once i opened it, it turned off immediately, then by instinct i looked to the wall socket, and it was starting to melt and smoking getting ready to flame up, and here is the life threatening part, here in lebanon we use gaz tank for the oven, we don't have built in gas line, and gaz tank usually lasts for 4-5month, it's a big tank. so the output of this gaz tank was directly pressing on the starting to flame socket(very tiny kitchen), and i am like fuck, i was reaching to remove it by hand as it was my first instinct, but rapidly went for the kitchen drawer where i know we keep pliers, i grabbed one and remove the plug, as it melted away from the socket, all i know, if i proceeded in taking my shower without double checking, the best case scenario would have been the appartment burning down, (and mind you i live on the sixth floor), without me dying, and the worst case scenario would have been me dying and the appartment burning. So lesson learned when i smell electric wires burning i ll always try to find the source.

I can remember 6 incidents. Some may be a bit long...
    1) In HS, I held onto a paper for my writing class - even tho it didn't seem necessary. By the next semester, the teacher asked the class is we still had that exact paper. I was the only one out of almost 30.
    2) My family & I were packing for a trip to the lake, it was a sunny day, a little cloudy. But I had this feeling that we should bring the tent. Nobody did & I had no idea where it was kept. Once we got to the lake & about to get out, it began to rain HARD. We turned around & stopped at a restaurant to eat while we waited out the storm.
    3) I told my Mom to stop for drinks & snacks during a road trip to my grandparents in the next state. It should have been a 6 hour drive. My brothers & I even had some cash on us, thinking we would stop somewhere for lunch. The car suddenly broke down, my Mom was able to pull the car over & out of the way of an approaching semi. The tow was $200, which was when the money came in handy as together, my brothers & I had a total of. However, we waited maybe 2 hours on the side of the road in the barren desert, no food or water, in addition to the previous 4 hours on the road. This was the first & last time my Mom took us out on the road without anything prepared. We were taken to a shop, another 3 hours later of waiting for the car to get repaired, my uncle finally drove us to my grandparents. Which was when we finally had something to eat & drink. Safe to say, we were all dehydrated by the end of the day.
    4) Once again on a road trip to the grandparents; however, this time the road we normally took was closed, but my Mom was determined to go that day, instead of waiting for the road to open. I kept telling her to take a short cut through Nevada, but she didn't listen & insisted to take this other route we were 100% unfamiliar with. The area around the road was 95% desert... Almost no houses or other buildings. We got lost mid-way, then again got lost a little further down. I kept telling her to turn around. Nope! For whatever reason, she was too stubborn. Eventually we got on the road & to my grandparent's house.
    5) While in California, we went with my other uncle & his kids to an arcade place. Kind of like a rip-off Dave & Busters. Now, for context, the area around it is shady as hell. Pretty much a ghetto. We spent a few hours inside, but when we came back to the car, I noticed some things misplaced + the car was not locked like it was supposed to be. The first thought in my head was: "Somebody broke in!" What really scared me? I carry a pocket knife whenever I leave the house, but I left it in the car cause, well, the arcade has a lot of kids inside. God forbid it fell out my pocket & got into the hands of a child. It was gone, along with a few other things. Nobody believed me - because they expected a broken car window or something -, but I went back inside to the front desk & got the number for someone to contact about car break ins. IDK if it's a non-emergency line or something similar, I was to much of a nervous wreck at that point as I've never called police before. Anyway, nobody believed me & we began to drive off to another relatives house for dinner. This was when my little brother realized he left his IPad in the car & now it's gone. THAT was when they finally believed me & turned back around. We called the number again & met with an officer; HOWEVER, he was called away for an (active) shooting. We barely got 2 minutes to talk with him. We left California after 2 or 3 more days & only got 1 return call from the officer... AFTER we left California. Apparently, whoever broke in destroyed the car lock & took what he wanted. So during those 2/3 extra days, the car was back in the shop getting that fixed.
    6. My BFF & I were crossing an empty street from the mall, as she lived across from it. Like, 10-12 minute walk kind of distance. We were MAYBE half way when I spotted a black car speeding towards us. Something possessed me, cause I grabbed my BFF by her wrist & forced her to run with me across the rest of the road. The black car didn't slow down in the slightest, and to this day I remember the glow of a phone screen sitting where the steering wheel is. My BFF thought I was just being weird or paranoid, but she shrugged it off & we continued our way to her house.
To this day, I have no idea why nobody believes me whenever I have a gut feeling.

I went up to a store near me and I saw an older guy walking the same way as me. I didn't feel safe for some reason, so I stayed in the store and called my mom to come pick me up. She drives right up to the store's entrance and walks me out. While driving off, I saw the guy walk out from behind the (closed) DMV.

My dad used to work construction for my grandfather, years back he was on the job digging with a backhoe laying cables for the County. Well the guy from the county wasn't sure where the waterlines were, they weren't marked just goes by what it blueprints say. My dad from years of experience knows the plans don't always match what's actually lain. So my Dad has the county man sign a contract that says he's digging where county man indicated I would and not responsible for damages. Guy signs and say 'go ahead' Hits a county waterline. Would have cost thousands of dollars that my grandfather's company would have been responsible for if dad hadn't gotten that paper signed. County guys boss was not happy.

So this is my "just to be safe" story
I just finished my last semester at college, I was talking classes strictly for the credit one was a Short Story class with possibly the worst professor ever. He never gave a clear answer and just rambled on about stupid word Etymology with very little explanation. He didn't tell us what exactly would be on the final but suggested what could be so I wrote an insane amount of notes in preparation.
When I took the test the last question was about a guy going to the bank and I had to answer what the story was really about. After I handed in my test I felt kind of weird like something about that question wasn't right. I catch up with a classmate and ask what his answer was. Turns out I completely fucked up and missed the point of the question, it was about a robbery based on certain action words sprinkled in the passage. I freak out because if I mess up that question I may not get an A for the class. So I race back to his classroom, wait until the last student leaves and go to speak to him.
After talking about the question I realize yeah I got it wrong but because I've been a good student all semester (participated in class, did very well on the midterm, handed in all assignments on time) he offered to email that specific question and have me redo it by Thursday. He even fully explained what the answer was to ensure I would do well. If I hadn't listened to my weird feeling I wouldn't have done as well on my test and not gotten the A I needed. Always listen to your guy guys

So i have a group of friends and we would often hang out, one day we were driving back from a day of chilling with each other and i was sitting behind the passengers seat next to the other door (its one of those big vans with like 11 seats including the passenger and drivers) and thought "huh I'm just going to put my arm rest down just cause" note, us sitting in the back normally don't wear out seatbelts, (yes ik stupid but hey we were kids and the seat belts didn't really work) as we were driving along we made a turn and the door i was sitting by flew open so if i didn't put that amazing arm rest down i would've fallen out on to cement and probably would've smacked my skull against a sign. After that happened we asked who shut the door and everyone just turned to the one really chill kid who was listening to music and he looked up so confused, he had no clue what happened at all...
Lesson- put a seatbelt on and don't trust a kid wearing headphones to shut the door

Don't know if counts as gut feeling, but still very funny to me.
Was failing literature class, so I gave up halfway during the session. I would just retake the class in summer school, no biggie. The teacher ended up sending a email to a couple of students asking for a certain assignment that we had not handed in. So I was like "ah, why not." and spent 15 minutes writing a 500 words text (was supposed to be around 900). I kept joking in my head that I felt like I was going to pass the class miraculously, and that I would've gone to a summer class for nothing. I still answered all the questions just.... very "to the point" and did not expand on my answers. Replied to the email with it saying that I had managed to recover the file.
Passing grade here in 60%, I got 61%. Went to a single summer class, and got my final grade when I woke up from a nap. I'm now at university, having passed all of my cegep classes.
If a teacher ever asks you for a missing assignment toward the end of your college/cegep semester... chances are you're close to passing that class and are only needing a couple extra points.

Once in my FACS class (home ec, basically) my teacher was letting small groups do different things. I was one of the kids that got to cook in the kitchen of the class, with a group of four other kids.
There was a part where we had to pour or drizzle oil after the food was in the pan, so she came over to help (she was worried we might get steam burn) but I immediately noticed through the weird spice smells of our food that the oil didn’t smell right.
In a panic, I pulled her away from the stove and the pan basically exploded.
Apparently it was gasoline her husband put in an oil container, but then left next to the grill.
I’m surprised no one noticed the thickness difference before hand, but that was also the day we discovered she was nose blind to gasoline.

Had a problem with my right eye, lost a bit of vision on the bottom edge. Was a Saturday morning and I was going out to meet some friends, planned to get the eye checked after the weekend. Bus stop is right next to the opticians, so I thought I would just pop in and speak to them about the eye. They do a quick check as they were not busy and end up sending me to Moorfields (famous eye hospital) on a urgent basis and I end up getting an operation for detached retina on the Sunday. If I had left it to the Monday as intended could have suffered serious sight loss.
Also, told a friend about the symptoms I had experienced - couple of years later she came back and said I had just saved her sight as she recognised from my description what was happening to her and got treatment a lot earlier than she might have done otherwise.

Turns out my appendix had ruptured and i literally could’ve gone septic and died. Thinking back, the symptoms were obvious. I couldn’t walk, it was hard to talk, I couldn’t pee or poop and had horrible stomach cramps. I also went a full week only eating one slice of pizza and lost 10 pounds. Couple years ago we were reviewing our new house. Everything was fine until we took a turn into the apartment complex. Instant “Something’s wrong” gut feeling this me and hits me hard, my mother felt the same thing as i quietly whispered to her “This doesn’t feel right..”. Sure enough the house we moved into just happened to be one of the 7 different drug houses, people had been sleeping and growing weed in our attic. And I’m the only child at this complex that isn’t psychically or mentally abused by my parents.
Another time, still at that same complex i get this gut feeling again, exactly the same thing and went to the door where my mom had stepped out to smoke. My mom comes back inside and gives this look at me dad and they just know something isn’t right. I later heard the story and there was a man in a hood who passed her and whispered “these cops and looking for me everywhere man..!” and my mom just says “I’m sorry i can’t help you.” And thank god because the man just stares at her for a moment and then continues walking. I still don’t know if that guy was caught yet, but we have police driving by or even just checking around every month.
I’m still living here and though i’ve made a few friends, i’m extremely protective of where i go. Oh yeah, and I’ll be 14 tomorrow, so i’ve been 12-13 all my life here.

My college campus offers supplemental instruction sessions (designated study halls) for science classes. For biology sessions you can earn extra credit for every time you attend. This one time I went back the day after I had just attended because I wanted to gain extra points since I had time. When the instructor came in she looked panicked and announced that she had forgotten the whole stack of worksheets that she wanted to hand out for those students to study off from. I didn't realize she was going to do the exact same thing as the day before so when she noticed I kept my copy of that work sheet in my note book she got all happy and took it from me. She used it as a guide for that whole session; she read the questions off from it to allow the students to write everything down on thier notebooks. It's hard to imagine how she'd handle that session if I didn't attend that day.

All the warranty and insurance stuff made me think of my cousin. Her husband was getting into some debts at his business and decided to cut off temporarily some insurances. A month later he had a sudden cardiac death. His wife (my cousin) had to cope up with the grief, taking care of two broken hearted kids, the house and everything by herself, all while she discovered the debts she now had to pay, the funeral at her expenses and several other stuff she wouldn't had to pay if they still had the insurance, people coming by their house demanding to be paid, her car being stolen by one of those people, etc. Several years later she's still in debt, but she's come a long way. His husband was a good person and a doting parent, but my god the mess he left behind for his wife.

A story about my gut feeling saving me from getting grounded as a kid.
I used to keep my iPad in my room at night when I wasn't supposed to. One morning at 5am I found a spider on my bed while the iPad was still in my room. So I decided to wake my mom up to get rid of it. Usually when someone needed to come in my room in the evening or at night for what ever reason, I would hide it under my pillow. So I put it under, but just as I was about to leave the room, I got a weird feeling. I ended up moving it to one of my drawers instead. So when I brought my mom into my room to look for the spider, she looked all over the bed and even lifted up the pillow that I was originally going to hide my ticket to getting grounded under. Thank god.

My moment like this was when in fifth grade I had a breathing problem turned out I needed an inhaler and recently it got up to the 90s almost 100 degrees and my chest started to compress and if I didn’t know I had a breathing problem I probably have stayed outside and finished what I was doing and if it wasn’t for that I probably would have passed out. And people that’s how I saved myself by complaining about breathing after band.

The seatbelt guy was extra lucky imo. I've heard that in the cases of rollovers and flips it is usually more dangerous to be wearing one; because if the roof caves in, your body can't be pushed down with it in a natural way and you get squished. I still wear one because it's a rare way to crash, but I still get anxiety because of that information.

The first story reminded me of the Australian 'Nailgun' PSA.
Dude commented "can't see a bloody thing", next moment he couldn't see *because* of the (literal) bloody thing.

wait so some people throw away the original box and the receipts before the warranty dies??? ooff

Also, do warranties on cars cover crashes where it isn't your fault? Because if so I can see myself getting a warranty every time, because it's not the dealer, but the other drivers, I have no faith in.

No, a car warranty only covers mechanical failure. For crashes you need insurance.

Not as dramatic a story as others, but I used to solder sensor chips on an assembly line at my old job. Proper PPE (Personal Protection Devices), in this case safety glasses, are mandatory when in the assembly room, and there's been more than once where I could hear the "ting ting ting" of flakes pieces of molten solder bouncing off of my glasses while working.

I went into town one day with my mates and I said to my mum "do I need my keys?" She hesitated for a while and then said "y...yes we are going out but we should be home when you come back" I took my keys anyway. Later that day I left earlier than I planned got home and they were still out. Luckily I had my keys. I now take my keys with me all the tine

I used to never buckle up in a car but for some reason when my sister picked me up she swerved to miss a pothole and as I joke I buckled up and said can't be too safe then 15 minutes later someone pulled out in front of us when they had a stop sign and we were going around 35-45 and hit them. Would have definitely died if I did not buckle up

I have a theory, I don't know if anyone else came up with this but what if it's not a gut feeling but your future self who tells you things before the event happens

I was watching another TH-cam video about strange things happening to people and one young man had jumped down from a high place and fell on the ground hurting himself. In the ambulance, he had a vision that his jumping from a high place onto the ground lead to him dying in an ambulance. He was okay, but he wondered if there was a parallel dimension where the event occurred and he died in that dimension 🤔

I took a class in college about early childhood development. One day, the professor pulled up a Powerpoint where the first slide was a little girl whose face looked kind of off. I thought to myself, "Huh...that kind of looks like images I've seen of kids born after having Fetal Alcohol Syndrome." I considered saying as such to impress the professor with my knowledge as I was kind of a a know-it-all, but something told me to keep my mouth shut.
The first thing she said was, "Here's a picture of me from when I was three years old!"
Thank fucking god I shut up for once...

      Love this 😂😂
I relate so much because I'm also a know-it-all person and I never shut up if I get a chance to express my knowledge. I'm rethinking my actions from now on 😖

Once I kept on hearing a noise but ignored it thinking that it was nothing. An hour later our whole apartment was flooded. That day I learned to never ignore my gut instinct.
Since then I also noticed that if something bad happened during night I would wake up. Once I woke up in the middle of night. Nothing happened for a while suddenly our building started shaking. It was an earthquake but not that bad. Then one day I randomly wake up at 4 in morning and see an orange light coming through the window. Thinking that it was the sun rising I tried to go back to sleep but then suddenly an urge to check it. There was a car on fire outside but thankfully nothing bad happened. Then one day like always I wake up and after sometime the lamp outside the room starts shooting sparks. I run towards it and unplug it. It had already started melting. But thankfully nothing happened.
