Shooting yourself in the foot, buying a trash bike, is a way to always have something to moan about; and an excuse for perpetual depressed stress and grief.
Some people are lost without it.

Ecu’s internally usually have 3 vref (reference voltage) points but come out of the connector on multiple pins, for an example map, maf, throttle position sensor and cam sensor will all have individual wires from the ecu but internally all get the reference voltage from the same point, at high rpm this could spike from vibration or whatever and cause an issue with other circuit, cam/crank correlation being a very sensitive circuit might be the one that logs the code, It would be worth checking the vref on the cam sensor and see what your getting when the fault happens voltage may increase or drop by only 0.1v but that would be a fault. Not trying to teach you how to suck eggs, I work with ecu manufactures so thought it may help?

I pretty much suggested they take voltage and amp readings last video but sounds like they've not bothered. My theory was that at the hard cut point power draw was triggering something to pull a circuit low and cause ecu shutdown that could only cured by re-initialising where it once again would see correct voltage.
Since they've changed the loom, the coils and the actual ecu and sensors then surely that leaves the voltage regulator and power circuit. If VR can't deliver what the bike is asking under heavy load ( the point at which they're getting the hard cut ) the ecu is going to be starved of voltage briefly and shutdown until load is removed and then ecu can be re-initialised with a turn off the key.
      What do you think?
Surely a brand new oem voltage regulator and battery is worth a try.

Surely it’s a correlation fault between the cam and crank sensor, I’ve had issues in the past with crank sensor wiring which has been frayed and at high rpm causes a misfire due to poor current flow, by disconnecting the cam sensor it may be allowing it to use just one sensor as an engine speed reference

Hey guys, been catching up with the videos as been too busy for TH-cam for a while but I had a very similar problem with my 2007 gsxr 1000..... after messing round looking for problems everywhere I finally found the issue I was having where at full throttle the bike would just hit a wall and go into limp mode. Turned out it was the mounting bolt holes on my throttle valve actuator, one was cracked and the other broken which slightly rotated the actuator so essentially I asked for full throttle and it thought it gave it to me but realised there was more to go so threw a wobbly.
Hope this helps in some way, just sounds like it’s the same fault I had.

My first tought is how is the tone wheels on the cams, and on the crank? Checked that they are not cracked? I assume you changed the ones on the cams. I'm not familiar with the K5, so I don't know if it's part of the cam or not. Next is spacing of the sensors, checking that it's within spec. Again, problem can be on crank also. Next is where do the sensors ground? Check/clean that ground point, might be on the other side of the ECU. Or not. I assume you checked charging voltage on high rpm, and that's OK. Not overvolting.
But to be honest, I would probably scoop both sensors while on the Dyno first thing. Very good bet you will see the problem right away I think. If they actually drift apart, but signal is normal otherwise, you have a mechanical issue. Tensioner, chain or sprockets most likely.
Just my thoughts. Not to be a wiseguy or anything...

This has been the best of the BBB series in my view. I've bought and sold several motorcycles over the last decade. I've had 'issues' with every used ride...mostly minor and one major (looking at you in my avatar 2005 BMW K1200S with servo brakes!!)...and your video just reinforces that looks can kill.

I still want to see you two on a Triumph and Norton or BSA or Ariel riding around Europe.. And by Triumph I'm not talking Hinkley I'm talking pre 1980.
So as for the sensor.. it's not a magnetic puck in the end of the cam that it's detecting that might be fouled is it? (I don't know how cam sensors work on Japanese bikes) Beyond that, I'm with Fagan on the inline toggle switch to turn it off once it's running so you don't have to disconnect it.

+1 👍 for the Triumph or BSA tour.
Or they could fly to India, BUY two Royal Enfields, then ride them back to UK as far as possible ( ferry crossings included of course ).
Mahindra bought BSA so that's another good possibility in the future.
It would make good PR / publicity for Mahindra / BSA also, so 44t should contact them and see if they're up for giving two new " loaners" for that epic trip.
They could ride from the proposed UK factory to Mahindra HQ in Mumbai.

When the camshaft position signal has failed during running, the ECM determines the cylinder positions as # to be the same as before occurrence of such a failure.
So when your disconnecting the CMP it goes to a default mode so to speak. This suggests the fault is occurring due to a timing issue.
Based on the information I would be looking at timing chain stretch, timing alignment, chain tension or possibly CKP.

so the GSXR with the cam sensor in place runs a diagnostic and allows the bike to start and run.
A pulsing/ voltage issue at higher RPMs from the cam sensor causes the bike to "chirp"
Once the the bike is running if the cam sensor is unplugged the "chirp" disappears and the bike runs normally and smoothly.
The hack or work around would be to take a relay N/O circuit powered from the alternator or oil pressure lights jump the cam sensor wire across this relay so as to have a closed circuit for start up, diagnostics. once started the relay loses voltage (light turns off) and goes to N/O turning off the cam position sensor.
I'm now wondering if this exists in the loom already and the relay has gone bad or the pulse width/ voltage is being misread.
Is the cam sensor of to high to low resistance?
is the cam sensor acting as a capacitor.
is the cam sensor the correct one and is there a difference between models ie do K6 GSXR have more or less windings than other model GSXR on the cam sensor resulting in higher/lower outputs from the cam sensor at higher RPMs
what is the pulsing volatage at ? RPMs
what does the square wave look like from the Cam sensor at various RPMs
Good luck see you in benidorm spring 2020

What a nightmare! Is there any chance it’s the US ecu not playing ball as it’s fitted on a UK spec which doesn’t have some of the parts a US bike would have? Sounds like you’re onto something with the cam sensor but it might be due to US & UK ecu specs
    Best of luck guys!! 😎

A bridge rectifier is normally used to cut half of an AC input leaving DC output ( it lops half a signal waveform ).

100% for Fagan on the Respol! 👍👍 I will myself pay for it if that's what it takes! I bought a Ducati 999R Fila replica 1 of 3 and spent a fortune on it and a busy of mine in 2006 had that exact 2005 Repsol that had put a minor amount of funds into his repsol being a full system (Akra) and race filter ecu flash and it was nearly where my $30,000+ US bike was on the track!
Edit is looks like the k5 is back on,..praying it's jsut healthy and safe for u both! Do what's safe NOT what the fans want! The TRUE fans will be at ur side reguardless of time of bikes! U could get a Yamaha Seca II and I'd still be here! U need a donation page where people can jsut donate to the build! I don't need merch perse how does one just donate to the built series?
