      Right? This is what makes the budget bike series so great - every moto journo channel gets perfect media bikes most of use can’t afford and takes them on these idyllic rides though advertiser country... these are always so great because it’s two normal blokes buying a couple of shitters and taking them on the kind of trips we actually do. Love it!

    GSXR 1000 clutch lever switch. Had this very same issue on my K6 track bike some years ago and that was fixed by changing the switch... I saw the same issue on a SV1000 K7.

    • @bobtebooij1059
      @bobtebooij1059 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds like the clutch lever switch indeed. The bike thinks you are pulling in the clutch lever so it lowers the Rev limiter to prevent idiots from revving it to high.

    • @phille042
      @phille042 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the same issue but with the stand switch on my SRAD 750 -98. Apparently the small metal bit that pushed on the switch had been bent through the years and the spring to hold the stand up had got a bit loose so when I revved to 7000 rpm the vibrations got to side stand and cut the power from time to time. But yeah, the clutch switch can also cause the problem.

      There is NO Way the Seller of the k6 didn't know about the issues... Its just a warning to test ride every used bike. The level of issue in that engine is.... That crosses the line, down on power... Not. Many. Could tell between 150 and 130tbh but the misfire is something else. The wheels is a bargaining chip that Al should have caught, the camchain and. Valves is somethin1g you find when delving into a bike so some of this is on them some is. On the Seller.
      Should have got a sorted k4 rather than the k6 tbh. The issue with the uk market is even utter dogs like this suzuki are STILL 1500 quid. Stuff that would be a 100$ bike in the us goes for over a grand, its utterly crazy.

    Measure voltage drop and amperage draw through the rpm range and see if it drops significantly at the cutout rpm.
    If it drops at that point ( from draw ) it could cut ( hard limit) but re-initialise as soon as voltage demand / load was off and keep doing that.
    Worth checking anyway.
    Use a live graph to measure the voltage load.
    Cheap cowboy check...
    Take bike battery off, hook a good car battery to bike terminals ( via jump leads ) run bike on dyno up to rpm you are getting the cutout, see if it's still there. If it's cured, buy a new decent bike battery with a good Ah rating.
    Reasoning... Car batteries are same 12v voltage but can provide more amperage ( voltage flow ).
    So using a car battery to check for testing negates an amperage feed drop/delivery issue that may be present in the original bike battery.
    If issue has gone, get a new decent bike battery.
    But..if bike STILL cuts out using car battery , next look at the voltage rectifier. (swap out for a good one if you have one).
    Measure temperature of the oem one in use.

    • @RawTopShot
      @RawTopShot 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rectifier fix for the likes of old Honda VFR was after getting a new one ( SUN branded OEM if you didn't want to pay Honda packet price )... Fit the new one using thermal paste between rectifier and mounting point, then add a 12v pc type fan on the cooling fins to Ummm.. keep it cool in use.
      Heat is the killer of rectifiers.
      Have 12v fan wired to come on when ignition is on.

The most famous and iconic motorbike of all time is the one and only Suzuki Hayabusa and the next best thing that beat the top speed of the Busa ..zx14 or the ZZR14. Chris could find a 2006-2008 first series Kawasaki as he likes these bikes and Fagan could find a 2nd generation, Busa. The views would go through the roof with these to bikes and you could settle the score once and for all which overall after a 3-4 day test is the best bike

    Sounds like a Secondary injector problem. Over 6k rpm and 70% throttle it should be running on the secondary injectors.
    Check fuel pump for correct fuel pressure and flow, fuel line to secondary injectors all ok, crank sensor all ok, power to secondary injectors and grounds all ok.

    Completely understand the delay, which as you say isn't worth doing until they're properly "ready" to take the abuse you've got planned. Keep it up lads. The only ones moaning about the delay have clearly never worked on second hand bikes before. It's just the way it goes sometimes. Roll on the next updates........👊😎

    Check the sidestand switch on the GSXR. I noticed the bike doesn’t have a sidestand, but has a stock loom. Typically the sidestand switch is bypassed in this case and the bypass often fails. Best of luck guys!

    My k5 would shut off at about 10k in 3rd ..barrrrpp then bang nothing and come back alive. I bypassed the side stand switch then found local dealer had mistimed it when doing valve clearances. Thank you for the great episodes.

    Can I just say that the guys from JHS are the best. They love bikes and finding and sorting problems with their hands, eyes and ears. Proper mechanics.

    Man, a $2 item driving you crazy! I had a similar experience where a $2 item had me going in circles for an entire summer. It was one o-ring in the carburetor seat on my ninja that had a tiny nick in it. The nick would let fuel pass in the no. 1 cylinder and cause a flooding that would prevent it from starting. I literally went through the bike at least twice a week for three months trying to find the problem. Finally I pulled every part again in the carbs, air box, intakes... an inspected everything with a magnifying glass and then found the nick in the o-ring. Call the local dealership, order the part, installed it, problem solved.

    A friend of mine had his loom replaced on his k5 under warranty, it was blowing fuses all the time and the loom had rubbed through and was touching the frame up by the seat somewhere.

    I had an issue with the 2002 Hornet cutting off at 10K. After checking everything else and almost giving up, it turned out to be some relay that was put in the loom between the ECU and the on/off switch. It was there for an aftermarket alarm system that I had removed, but it was taped so much and spliced good, that it looked original, so I didn't suspect. I was so happy after I tested it on the highway the first time and it got all the way to the red line, literally screaming in my helmet.

    Having never owned a Suzuki, nor have much of a mechanical mind, I've absolutely no idea what's wrong with it, I hope that helps! Good luck though, I'm sure the JHS gang will have it sorted!

    by the sounds of your high end misfire its probably low fuel pressure have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it to check?(fuel filter trapped hoses duff pump)

    The problem with the gixxer could be with the fuel strainer in the bottom of the tank with years of gunk and the vacuum lines off the throttle body. Take the original vacuum lines off and use them as a template for the new one. Don't bother trying to clean and reuse any hose or t-junctions, just replace them. Good luck!

    I had a fireblade that used to cut out at High RPM, turned out every time you put the tank down it crimped the fuel hose and starved the bike under high fuel demands, I also changed out the fuel pump just in-case and ran sweet after that.

    Have you guys checked the kickstand switch? Sometimes the high revs will cause the kickstand to vibrate and lose contact with the switch.

    Check fuel pump and fuel pump lines. Had similar issue on my K4, turned out to be a cracked fuel pump hose inside the tank, when the revs get up there and the draw on the pump increased the pressure caused the crack to open up, only generally happened at 9k revs but sporadically.

  • @TheBeanyi

    I had a very similar issue on a k4 750. Turned out to be the servo for the butterfly valves. Broken soldered connection. Sometimes the valves opened, sometimes the didn't. Started as an FI fault. Good old peice of cable to short the connections, and I think the faults were c19 and c27. Anyway, dab of solder and she ran strong. Symptoms were almost identical. Hit 7k ish rpm, and it shit the bed, went in to limp mode and wouldn't get past kinda 4 or 5k rpm and blew rather large flames from the exhaust.

    @44teeth check that the tipover switch is secured really well. Had this happen to mine & it was the tipover switch. The tab for the switch was broken so when the bike got up in the revs it would vibrate out of position & bike would cut off
