    While I do thoroughly enjoy Fire force i feel like its reputation as an anime and manga is kind of skewed. People try to water it down to an average shonen full of tasteless fanservice but in my opinion I find the show to be pretty top tier. The character writing isn’t talked about enough. The parallels, dynamics and actual bonds between the main characters and even some of the main antagonists are severely under appreciated. Like for example people try to water down Shinra to the generic hero MC, yet they don’t talk about each individual mission effects his character. Shinra has a mysterious past that gets uncovered slowly as the story and plot actually progresses and I think it’s pretty well done.

    • @madisonsmith1936
      @madisonsmith1936 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He was bullied for starting a fire and his mother became an inferno and his brother was lost, this all was revealed in the first 5 episodes what do you mean? The writing is subpar at best, the characters fit into annoying archetypes, and while the overall plot is interesting, i find where the story takes and expands on the plot to be petty boring, overall i found myself coming back to fire force because of one singular thing, the animation and fight scenes which in my opinion were executed to perfection.

    • @WakaDior
      @WakaDior 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @ He wasn’t bullied, he was literally ridiculed his whole life and ostracized from society because everyone thought a murderer was walking among them. His mother being an infernal wasn’t revealed until the end of the season which was around 70 chapters into the manga and the nature of his mothers infernal wasn’t revealed until over 250 chapters in. His brother being alive wasn’t supposed to be mysterious. He got name dropped in episode three and he showed up in the flesh in episode 14. It was all set up for Sho’s character in of itself and we this in the “Kusakabe History arc” which was around 230 chapters in. So how is this sub par? Each of the main cast have multiple character arcs and fully fleshed out backstories and personalities. These are the “annoying archetypes”? The story itself being boring is an interesting take and I would like to hear you out more on that. I also agree that the fight scenes are amazing though

    • @madisonsmith1936
      @madisonsmith1936 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WakaDior But like, we as an audience were able to read between the lines, the inciting incident literally has his mother screaming while the house is burning, we hear her cries we can are able to tell that it was his mother who was an inferno, we're not dumb. And okay i'll admit i was a little wrong about cho but come the fuck on, that's not long enough for an exciting mystery, also we as an audience are able to also tell that his brother his alive, also for something to be "Mysterious." is has to have an aura of unexplainability which leads the audience to come to their own conclusions as they piece the puzzle together, there's levels to that and with cho's entire character there's no mystery. Maki is still maki at the end of the story no growth, tatsumaki is still the same, so is iris which don't even get me started on her, yes i agree the show does have good characters i'll admit, but the bad outweigh the good in my opinion tbh.

    • @madisonsmith1936
      @madisonsmith1936 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also mystery is also about concealment, there's a way you present the mystery that makes your audience hooked and engaged. And fire force's mystery just feels very shallow to me. I was easily able to foretell future events which left the story to being predictable and having a bad taste in my mouth. A good example of mysterious would be idk, erased but not before the ending. and death note. Constantly unpredictable stories, not being able to tell what the characters would do next or where the plot could go next, that's what makes it a thrill, that's why they're called thrillers and mystery.

    • @WakaDior
      @WakaDior 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@madisonsmith1936 Yeah that’s called foreshadowing. There’s even more foreshadowing that the demon infernal was Mari when Shinra linked when he was in the netherworld and the infernal grabbed his face like a mother would. The mystery about their characters is about their origins and where they came from. All three of them are products of Adolla. Mari being the doppleganger of the evangelist, Shinra essentially being Jesus and Sho being the angel that protects him. Like I said, Sho being alive was never supposed to be mysterious, keep up with what I’m saying. Sho is literally stated to be alive in episode three and he literally appears in the flesh in episode 14. What’s mysterious about Sho is not only his origins but what he was going to do now that he knows he has a family in the outside world. Aura of unexplainability? Are we being serious? The church we don’t find out about until deep past 100 chapters? The origin of the infernals? Dopplegangers? Adolla? All of these are mysterious and don’t get explained in their entirety until later in the manga as the plot comes together. Saying Iris, Tamaki and Maki don’t change throughout the story is just straight up wrong. We’re just gonna ignore Iris questioning her morality as a nun after finding out the true intentions of the church? Her internal struggle after finding out she’s the doppleganger of Amaterasu, which lead her to blame her self for the death of her sisters at the convent? Her finding new resolve as she awakens her adolla burst? Maki struggling with her femininity? Her dreams getting stolen from her because of her family twice? Her getting her ideology and resolve tested by her father and hinawa? Tamaki’s parallels to Shinra of being ostracized? Her trying her best to balance being a nun and a soldier? Her constantly failing and even thoughts of suicide? What she stands for thematically and ideologically by the end of the manga? You’re just straight up wrong on all of these claims I’m sorry.

    This show was a blast but I’m a little worried about season 3. From season 1 to 2 we lost Yasuyuki Kai (and he also wasn’t seen on Undead Unluck), but now Yuki Sato is an in house name at Pierrot Films and Riki Matsuura only showed up on Undead Unluck to direct an OP as opposed to any work on the actual show. I feel like he could also be working on the CSM movie instead of Fire Force. Yuuki Yamashita also wasn’t seen on UU and Hirohara was only seen on 1 episode of UU and lately seen a lot on DB Daima. Daima seems to be getting wrapped up production wise tho, so hopefully Miwa, Ookaji, and Hirohara will be able to deliver for season 3 and hopefully they can attract more guest animators, but with all the projects in parallel production, I feel like that will be tough

      The season two section was actually a lot longer in the original script, but I decided to cut out a lot of stuff (you can probably notice that the section feels scuffed), I had a bit about that one comp heavy scene from EP 13, but the more I wrote about a topic, the more stuff I wanted to add, so for my own sake, I decided to keep things animation centric lol.

    I think i disagree about the alienation. A lot of shorts and tik toks are just talking about how crazy the animation is and always use the same clip of Benimaru because they love the sound effects in the show. The direction probably felt odd but not enough to full make people feel alienated.
    But all of the clips people post is all season 1, the benimaru scene, the sound effects, the rage bait when using Tamaki' fanservice on social media, it's all from s1. When season 2 dropped it was still lockdown and before JJK was hyped to the max before the anime dropped so i think people just moved on quickly before the discussions could happen like they did post JJK and other future projects after its run.

    This show was extremely beautiful. I think the reason why it doesn't get brought up often in discourse is simply that the show is...
    Kind of boring, ngl.
    People complain that Demon Slayer has a simple story for example, but it's at least executed well and remains entertaining enough throughout. Fire Force on the other hand feels like it offers nothing other than its visuals sadly.
    There's a good reason why whenever brings up this anime it's to complain about fanservice. That's ironically one of the few memorable things about it.

    • @WakaDior
      @WakaDior 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Well I respect your opinion but I respectfully disagree. There’s hardly anything boring about the show at all, maybe you weren’t paying attention?
      From the masterclass action sequences to the actual plot of the show I think it’s pretty amazing.
      The character dynamics and parallels are also one of the strongest parts of the show but it doesn’t shove alot of the information down your throat like in one piece for example it gives little instances of the character writing and expects you to pick up on it.
      For example in season one when Shinra fought hibana people try to water down the scene to MC saving the damsel in distress while getting a side character on his side but nobody actually acknowledges that Iris was never a damsel who was kidnapped. She willingly went there and her interaction with hibana was deep and well thought out. The reason Shinra won wasn’t because of mc plot armor or just to keep plot moving forward but because he connected to Hibana through his words. They essentially share the same trauma of losing everything to a fire which we find out later were both made artificially and this changes Hibana’s perspective which allows her to find new motivation and resolve.
      Saying fire force offers nothing than it’s visuals (no offense genuinely) I feel like is a reading comprehension issue. Maybe you weren’t paying as much attention because of low expectations or tasteless fanservice? I recommend rewatching the show.

    On the animation side, yes FF nails it. But the fan service is kind of annoying. Compared to other shonen, it just does it too much and it feels too forced. Not saying I don't like fan service but FF uses it to the point where it becomes super annoying and cringey.

      It’s a real shame, I love the anime otherwise but the fanservice holds it back from being loved so much. I’ll still watch it tho

    I rarely remember Fire Force because, for me, it was so boring that i didn't even cared about animation. I can be angry or laugh at demon slayer story or be impressed by it's visuals. I remember Fire Force only when i scroll works of animators or want to look at great fire sakuga

    The animation was amazing and that was what brought me in. But the fan service scenes (you know the ones) and the utterly annoying side characters what made me drop it...
    I'm still teetering on if I should give this show another chance and subject myself to those annoying caharcters. It's a shame that Shinra had to be wtitten into a world full of uninspired characters. He was the only one I liked.

    The show looks awful most of the time. There is zero movement and very boring shots for 80% of the time. Really surprised you say it looks phenomenal
